After Swapping Identities With My Archenemy - Chapter 15
Chapter 15: Ghost on the Shoulder
Jiang Huaiyi felt the blood in her limbs turn cold instantly. Her hands and feet were ice-cold. The food she had eaten earlier surged up in her stomach.
Her head also started to ache faintly. She felt dizzy and nauseous. The bloated corpse under the bed was still trying to reach out and grab her.
Although her body was stiff and it was difficult to move, she still took two steps back.
She collapsed onto the ground and started to gasp for air. The thing under the bed was constantly squeezing out.
Her mind was almost blank. She watched as the huge mass of rotten flesh was about to touch her feet.
Suddenly, she felt a heavy slap on her forehead. She subconsciously closed her eyes.
When she opened them again, she found herself still on the bed. Half of her body was almost touching the huge, swollen body standing in front of the bed.
Her hands were on the edge of the bed. Shen Wensi was holding her waist with one hand and Xiao Die’s scruff with the other, looking speechless.
That slap just now was Xiao Die flailing in the air and hitting her forehead.
The willow branches in the four corners were still properly in place. It was just that two of them had been plucked bare for some reason, and the leaves were scattered all over the bed.
Jiang Huaiyi shrank back behind her. She looked at her palm and found that there was some green liquid on it.
She silently closed her hand. Because of the embarrassment, a large part of the fear in her heart was reduced.
Shen Wensi saw that she was finally no longer going crazy. She threw Xiao Die into her arms like a doll.
Jiang Huaiyi looked at Xiao Die’s soft fur and said in her heart, “I’m sorry.” Then she rubbed her hands hard on Xiao Die’s body to wipe off the liquid.
Jiang Huaiyi looked down at Shen Wensi’s wrinkled clothes and said a little apologetically:
“I’m sorry, I had a hallucination just now.”
Shen Wensi was not angry. Her beautiful phoenix eyes looked over.
Her tone was slightly teasing: “I thought you weren’t afraid of ghosts anymore and wanted to have a close encounter with one.”
Jiang Huaiyi looked away guiltily. She couldn’t possibly tell her that she was only scared like that because she found out she had disappeared, right?
Although her fear of ghosts was now an open secret, to maintain the little bit of self-esteem she had left, she still didn’t respond.
After all, the other person had helped her.
“The array wasn’t broken, so why did I have a hallucination?”
Logically, the thing outside that wasn’t moving couldn’t harm her. It was normal that Shen Wensi, with her good composure, wasn’t affected.
But she was also protected, so she shouldn’t have been affected either.
There was another possibility: there was another ghost in the room.
The two of them looked at each other and instantly came to the same conclusion.
Shen Wensi opened her mouth and mouthed silently: “Above.”
Jiang Huaiyi subconsciously wanted to look up, but Shen Wensi’s long, slender fingers pressed against her forehead.
She moved a little closer, her breath as light as a whisper, and said softly in her ear, “Don’t look up. You’ll get scared again.”
Jiang Huaiyi resisted the urge to look up and hugged Xiao Die tightly.
“Xiao Die, don’t be afraid. I’m here. I’ll protect you.”
Shen Wensi wanted to laugh. She was clearly the one who was terrified, but she made up an excuse and put it on the cat.
For the first time, she saw a look of speechlessness on a cat’s face. She pressed the cat’s head back down, which was trying to struggle.
Although Jiang Huaiyi didn’t look up, she still felt something floating above her head from time to time after they talked.
She shrank her neck and then found that the thing above was also lowering itself.
She had just gotten used to the ghost in front of her, and now she was starting to get scared of the invisible thing above.
Jiang Huaiyi stayed stiff for a while. When the thing above brushed against her again, she finally couldn’t help but say, “Are we just going to wait like this? Can’t you think of something? Don’t you ghost cultivators raise little ghosts? Can’t you release some little ghosts to take care of them?”
Shen Wensi looked at her a little strangely and asked, “Ghost cultivator? Raising little ghosts?”
Jiang Huaiyi saw her confused expression and felt a little disappointed. It seemed that she was truly a good ghost cultivator.
She wasn’t impatient like others. She thought it was a coincidence that there were no ghosts in her house, but now that she didn’t even have any on her, she really didn’t have any.
Shen Wensi naturally didn’t know what she was thinking. This body was just an avatar of hers in the human world.
When she had nothing to do, she would help people deal with things, but she never did anything that was too much trouble.
Although she had known about their identities from the beginning, it was a bit too much to think of her as a ghost cultivator who raised little ghosts.
Jiang Huaiyi looked at her with a pair of shiny, pitiful eyes. Shen Wensi pursed her lips. Okay, if her various underworld subordinates counted.
Shen Wensi spoke in her expectant gaze: “Why don’t you summon the Sir again?”
Jiang Huaiyi’s eyes instantly lit up. The Xiao Die in her arms was hugged tightly and let out a soft cry of dissatisfaction.
She didn’t have time to pay attention to it. She asked excitedly, “But there are no stones in the room. How can we extort him if we call him here?”
Shen Wensi: …
She gently knocked on Jiang Huaiyi’s fluffy head with her knuckles: “We’re calling the Sir to collect the ghosts, not to give us money.”
Jiang Huaiyi’s face instantly turned red to the base of her neck. She felt ashamed of all the messy thoughts in her head.
Just as she was reflecting on her mistake, she heard Shen Wensi’s voice again: “After he collects them, you immediately jump down and move a stone from outside to hit him.”
Jiang Huaiyi: …
She should have known better than to expect anything good to come out of that mouth. She had overestimated her.
After they had a discussion, they both opened their bags and started pulling out their gear.
Shen Wensi asked, “Didn’t your master leave you any magic tools? I saw you move a lot of things back this afternoon.”
Jiang Huaiyi silently pulled out the peach wood sword that she had been using as a fire poker. There were still scorch marks on it.
“Does this count? It was my fire poker when I was a kid.”
The corner of Shen Wensi’s mouth twitched. This was even less useful than the willow branches around them.
Seeing her shake her head, Jiang Huaiyi put the peach wood sword with the missing hilt back. The only magic tools her master left her were a “Emperor Bell” with a missing tongue, which was a silent “Sanqing Bell,” and a book of talismans. That was it.
The other skills were taught to her in her dreams. According to her master, the “Dao” followed nature. When she reached a certain level of cultivation, she wouldn’t need external help.
So, as his disciple, she didn’t have much to use.
But this time, she brought a lot of paper ingots and ghost money in her bag. Now was a good time to burn them to summon the Sir.
After they took everything out, they ran into another problem. They had brought everything, but they didn’t have a portable fire basin. They couldn’t just light them on the bed. It would be bad if they caused a fire.
As the two of them were worrying, Jiang Huaiyi saw a pair of clean legs hanging down from the ceiling.
It was a woman’s legs. The smooth nails were painted with red nail polish. If it weren’t for the fact that the gray-green skin was so abnormal, Jiang Huaiyi would have thought they were a beautiful pair of legs.
At this moment, they were slowly descending from above, swinging back and forth in the air. They were about to step on Shen Wensi’s shoulder.
Jiang Huaiyi’s face turned pale with fright. This was the second ghost in the room.
She looked like she was hanged from the ceiling. Jiang Huaiyi didn’t dare to look up, afraid of seeing the terrifying sight. She shakily stretched out a finger and pointed behind Shen Wensi.
The feet didn’t wait for her to speak. They kicked straight over and were about to stand on Shen Wensi’s shoulder in the next second.
“A ghost on the shoulder weighs a thousand pounds.” Jiang Huaiyi couldn’t even imagine what she would do alone in this room to deal with the other ghost if Shen Wensi was weighed down and couldn’t get up.
She immediately grabbed Shen Wensi’s clothes and pulled her down. A gust of cold wind blew from above, and she let out a sigh of relief.
But she didn’t expect that in the next second, she would hear two “clack” sounds, and her shoulder would instantly feel cold.
