After Swapping Identities With My Archenemy - Chapter 14
Chapter 14: Come On, Come On In
Jiang Huaiyi shrank back abruptly. Her back immediately hit the wall. The solid feeling behind her didn’t give her any sense of security.
Because the dead ghost in front of her was squeezing onto the bed. The ash on the floor was constantly being pushed in by his movements.
His face was too swollen. Only half of it could fit in, and it got stuck. But he didn’t give up. Green lake water began to seep out of his face, and his face kept shrinking, trying to squeeze in.
The ash that was pushed in was soaked by the lake water and stuck to his face. It was about to be a face-to-face encounter with Jiang Huaiyi.
She screamed, confirmed that he could see her, and no longer dared to stay under the bed. She quickly crawled out from the other side.
Because she used too much force, the guardrail by the bed broke. She held the wooden railing in her hand and jumped onto the bed.
Xiao Die meowed and was squeezed to the side. Jiang Huaiyi pulled on Shen Wensi’s collar and hid behind her.
Shen Wensi looked at her, speechless, and pulled her clothes out of her hand. There was even a little sawdust on them.
The words, “Are you really that scared?” were swallowed the moment she saw the sawdust.
Shen Wensi sighed and handed the willow branch, which she had forgotten on the bed, to her.
Jiang Huaiyi said in a trembling whisper from behind, “Why is it here? I was almost scared to death.”
Shen Wensi was completely speechless. She had thought Jiang Huaiyi had made progress and was ready to face the ghost alone by leaving the willow branch on the bed. She didn’t expect that Jiang Huaiyi had just forgotten to take it down.
After being scared senseless, she frantically came back up.
After holding the willow branch, Jiang Huaiyi felt a little more at ease, but she still didn’t dare to look outside. She hid behind Shen Wensi, her body constantly trembling.
The ghost under the bed had already stood up. Half of his body was covered in ash soaked in water, looking like a loin of meat that had been rolled in a flour bowl.
He stood motionless in front of the bed. His huge body was almost covering the entire bed.
Because he was backlit, they could only see a vague silhouette of him from the bed.
He seemed to be held in place by the willow branches in the four corners, as if he hadn’t noticed the two people and one cat on the bed at all.
Xiao Die looked at the willow branches rotating in the breeze and felt a little itchy. She always wanted to go up and grab them a couple of times.
The two of them didn’t notice the fully concentrated Xiao Die. They just sat like that for a while.
Shen Wensi said, “The ghost outside can’t see us. Come out and take a look. Don’t be afraid.”
Jiang Huaiyi was skeptical. She tightly held the willow branch in her hand and grabbed the waistband of Shen Wensi’s trench coat.
“I’m not looking. Ghosts are liars. What if he’s lying to me?”
Xiao Die glanced at the two of them and couldn’t help but stick out its pink paw and touch the willow branch at the head of the bed.
The willow branch rotated in a circle and didn’t fall out.
The cat’s enthusiasm was completely mobilized.
After Shen Wensi’s persuasion, Jiang Huaiyi’s heart also began to waver.
Shen Wensi had said that he was not moving and had no reason to lie to her.
Jiang Huaiyi hardened her resolve, closed her eyes, and stuck out half of her head to look outside.
Her night vision was very good. She immediately saw the behemoth in front of her. It was the ghost that had just scared her under the bed.
Her heart immediately sank, but the thing in front of her was indeed motionless, just as Shen Wensi had said.
Although she was very nervous and scared, with someone blocking her in front, and the thing not reacting at all, she took two deep breaths and finally calmed herself down.
Shen Wensi turned her face and looked at her with an “I told you so” expression. She said in a deep voice, “Can you please let go of my clothes now?”
Jiang Huaiyi looked at the belt in her hand, feeling a little embarrassed. Her fingers were so cramped from holding on that she could only loosen them slowly.
The atmosphere relaxed for a moment. Suddenly, there was a loud thud next to them.
The ghost’s shadow in front of her suddenly moved closer. His entire face was right in front of Jiang Huaiyi’s exposed head.
He let out a sharp, teasing laugh: “I see you.”
He said, and then reached out to grab them.
Jiang Huaiyi felt her adrenaline surge. Two veins immediately popped out on her forehead.
Shen Wensi in front of her seemed to know what she was about to do and quickly bent her entire body down.
The next second, the willow branch in Jiang Huaiyi’s hand brushed against her hair and went straight to his face.
The willow branch hitting the ghost’s face was like hitting a ball of glutinous rice. The feeling was indescribably nauseating.
For a moment, sparks flew in the room. The ghost’s shadow in front of her let out a miserable scream and floated backward for a large distance.
The water-soaked incense ash rustled down, falling on the bed in pieces.
Shen Wensi immediately looked up and avoided being covered in ash.
Xiao Die next to her was startled by the ghost’s loud scream and jumped up from the bed. The willow branch it had just grabbed was still on its paw.
Shen Wensi took the opportunity to catch it and held it firmly by the back of its neck.
The array on the bed was broken, and a strong wind immediately blew in the room.
It blew both windows open. The incense ash on the ground seemed to have a cohesive force and was blown into a wind column.
It was all blown out of the window.
A greenish light was cast on the ghost’s shadow. Jiang Huaiyi saw a deep burn mark on his face where he had been hit.
He looked at Jiang Huaiyi with malicious eyes. His face, which had just shrunk, was now even more swollen. His two bloodshot eyes were almost falling out.
She looked at the willow branch in her hand. The green branch was now pitch black, as if it had been scorched by a charcoal fire. It no longer looked like a willow branch at all.
Jiang Huaiyi threw the willow branch away and started gathering all the willow branches from the four corners.
When she looked up, she found that the ghost who had been standing far away was gone. She quickly reached out to grab Shen Wensi’s clothes.
But she found that Shen Wensi, who had just been on the bed, was also gone. Even Xiao Die on the bed had disappeared.
“Where are you guys?” Her voice was almost tearful. She didn’t know why Shen Wensi had disappeared again.
The windows and door in the room closed immediately. The moonlight that had been pouring in instantly vanished.
Jiang Huaiyi’s body trembled. She felt a sourness in her nose and was about to cry.
She couldn’t even imagine what would happen if she was left alone in this house with a ghost.
While calling out for Shen Wensi, she fumbled her way toward the bed.
Her body felt like it was filled with lead and she couldn’t move at all.
It took a lot of effort to finally move herself to the side of the bed.
Shen Wensi’s voice suddenly came from under the bed: “I’m here. Come down quickly!”
Jiang Huaiyi got off the bed almost without hesitation. The constraints on her body were gone. She did it in one go. She got down and was about to crawl inside.
She held back her sobs and grabbed the bed frame, saying to the inside, “Move in a little. I…”
Before she could finish, she looked down and saw that the space under the bed was completely filled. The ghost’s shadow, which had just disappeared, was now grinning, revealing a smile.
“Come on, come on in.”
