- Chapter 4 - Lu Shian Becomes a Baldy
“Do not touch it.” Meng Yu grabbed his hand and then shouted to the nearby security personnel, “Hold these people down!”
His voice maintained its characteristic warmth, but it was clear that it was laced with anger.
Lu Shian only felt a throbbing headache. By the time he regained his composure, he had already been taken into the treatment room by Meng Yu. There was a gash on the back of Lu Shian’s head that was still bleeding; Meng Yu had to apply emergency pressure to stop the bleeding before transferring him for further examination.
He gently brushed aside the hair to inspect the wound. To the naked eye, the cut did not appear deep, but it was unclear if there was a concussion.
Meng Yu placed his hand on the left side of Lu Shian’s head and asked, “Do you feel nauseous or anything like that?”
Lu Shian was pulled back to reality by the voice. He heard it, but he did not respond.
“President Lu,” Meng Yu called him again, repeating the question, “Are you nauseous?”
Lu Shian did not want to talk, or rather, he did not want to acknowledge him. He remained silent and stubborn.
Meng Yu did not know why Lu Shian was acting so difficult and angry. Thinking it might be because of what happened that night, he was about to say something when Tang Linyan knocked and entered the treatment room.
“Master, the family members who came with that red-haired guy have all been taken away by security. The guy can’t move, so he’s just lying in the consultation room howling. What should we do now?” Tang Linyan’s gaze lingered on the freezing, stony-faced Lu Shian for two seconds before looking at Meng Yu.
“Emergency treatment has already been done. If his leg does not get surgery, it will be ruined. Go find someone who is quiet and does not start fights to come up. After further examination, arrange for hospitalization and surgery.” While Meng Yu spoke, he had already picked up the electric clippers and aimed them at the back of Lu Shian’s head.
As he flipped the switch and the buzzing sound filled the room, Lu Shian suddenly realized something was wrong and swung his head around to look.
“Do not make any sudden movements,” Meng Yu warned, steadying the man’s head.
Staring at the clippers in Meng Yu’s hand, Lu Shian asked with a dark expression, “What are you doing?”
Meng Yu replied good-naturedly, “Treating your wound.”
Lu Shian frowned. “I have a head injury. You are an orthopedic surgeon; why are you treating me?”
“Your wound is bleeding. Excessive blood loss will cause you to faint. I am only giving you an emergency bandage to stop the bleeding. You will be transferred to Neurosurgery for treatment in a moment.”
Lu Shian remained overbearing. “Then why are you shaving my head?”
“Your injury is on your head. To facilitate inspection and suturing, and to prevent infection, the hair around the wound must be shaved off.” Meng Yu looked down at him and explained, “This hair will have to be shaved sooner or later. I am doing it because my shaving skills are actually quite good.”
Lu Shian looked at him coldly. “I am not shaving it, and I do not want your treatment!” He prepared to stand up.
Meng Yu kept a firm hand on his shoulder to prevent him from moving. Before he could speak, Tang Linyan began to scold the incredibly ungrateful Lu Shian. “I have never seen a patient as unappreciative as you. Do you know how many people are waiting for my Master to see them? You are lucky he is willing to handle this. Since the injury is to your head, we are actually worried about taking responsibility if something goes wrong. Do not bite the hand that feeds you.”
“Tang Lin, shut up.”
At Meng Yu’s words, Lu Shian flared up. “No, let him continue!”
Tang Linyan was young and hot-headed. This was the first time he had seen someone treat his Master with such a terrible attitude. The more he talked, the angrier he got. He rolled his eyes at Lu Shian and said directly to Meng Yu, “Master, his head has to be shaved no matter what. He is destined to be a baldy. Let’s not bother with him. Toss him to Neurosurgery; we do not have to take this attitude.”
Lu Shian’s face turned green with rage.
A baldy?
Damn it!
He shoved Meng Yu’s hand off his shoulder, stood up, and slammed the door as he walked out.
By the time Lu Shian made it outside, Qi Lei had already arrived and immediately arranged for him to go to the Neurosurgery department.
As tough as Lu Shian tried to be, he ended up having his head shaved anyway. After the bleeding was controlled, he underwent a head CT, an MRI, and a series of tests. The results showed that aside from the gash, there were no other issues. Once confirmed, the doctor performed debridement and suturing.
His head no longer throbbed, but his shoulder was in severe pain. Qi Lei wanted to take him back to Orthopedics for an exam, but Lu Shian refused to go back there for anything. Out of options, Qi Lei had to call Lu Shian’s mother, Lu Xuelan.
Lu Xuelan arrived like a whirlwind and practically dragged Lu Shian to the Orthopedic department.
Jiang Yu had been fighting with seven or eight thugs. Aside from the red-haired one who was seriously injured, the others were mostly fine. Jiang Yu had a minor fracture in his right hand that only required a cast to recover.
He sat in front of Meng Yu, watching him focus on writing orders, feeling anxious. “Doctor, is my uncle okay?”
Since Qi Lei arrived, Lu Shian had forbidden Jiang Yu from following him. Not knowing the situation, the young man was restless.
Meng Yu kept his eyes on the computer screen. “I do not know. I am not his attending physician.”
“Do you know my uncle? I heard you call him by his name earlier.”
The hand Meng Yu used to type paused for a split second. After a moment’s hesitation, he said casually, “He is the Chairman of Fangsheng. He is on the financial news frequently.”
“Doctors watch the financial news too?” Jiang Yu muttered. His eyes drifted to Meng Yu’s name tag.
Meng Yu?
He repeated the name in his mind, feeling as though it sounded familiar.
“You look like a student. Why were you fighting with those people?” Perhaps intending to change the subject, Meng Yu took the initiative to ask.
Jiang Yu’s expression became complicated. “Talking about it is just bad luck.”
Meng Yu turned to look at him and smiled. “A jealous rivalry over a girl?”
Before Jiang Yu could answer, the Administrative Director of Surgery knocked and entered the room. “Xiao Meng, there is a patient you need to take a look at.”
Meng Yu answered calmly, “Director, if it is not an emergency, let’s follow the standard procedure. I am not finished here yet.”
“It is the Chairman of Fangsheng.” The Director was somewhat speechless. He had come personally to call for him; even if it wasn’t a medical emergency, it was an important person.
Most of the medical equipment the hospital required each year was donated by Fangsheng. Combined with Lu Shian’s status in the business world, a person of his level deserved to be received by the hospital director personally.
Hearing it was Lu Shian, Jiang Yu stood up immediately. “Dr. Meng, my hand is fine. Go see my uncle first.”
Lu Shian had been settled in a private consultation room with Qi Lei and Lu Xuelan keeping watch. When Meng Yu pushed the door open, his eyes immediately found Lu Shian sitting in a chair.
From Meng Yu’s angle, he could only see the side of the man’s head. The wound had been treated, and the shaved portion was covered with gauze, but quite a bit of the surrounding hair had been shaved off too, making it look unintentionally comical.
Meng Yu thought to himself that the other doctor’s head-shaving skills were lacking. If he had done it, he would never have shaved a single hair outside of the wound area.
Fortunately, Lu Shian was handsome enough to pull it off. On anyone else, this hairstyle would be a joke, no different from walking out wearing a burlap sack.
“Where is the patient feeling uncomfortable?” Meng Yu asked as he approached, gathering his thoughts for the routine inquiry.
