- Chapter 36 - The Ethereal Evil Spirit (9)
Yan Yi raised his chin and kissed the space between the other’s brows, his eyes warm and lingering. “I am already yours; there is no need to buy me.”
Lu Yinshen insisted on pressing the red envelope into Yan Yi’s palm. Seeing his persistence, Yan Yi tucked the envelope away carefully. He then nipped at Lu Yinshen’s earlobe, grinding a slow kiss against it, his voice low and husky. “Baby, I have been bought by you. Now, I belong to you completely. You can do anything you want to me.”
A light flickered within the ghost’s eyes, more vibrant than the neon lights outside the window. Joy spilled from the slight curve of his brows as Lu Yinshen looked down at Yan Yi, smiling foolishly. He did not look like a paranoid, sinister antagonist, but rather a green youth overjoyed by a single kiss from his beloved. He was unexpectedly pure.
This simple expression was no different from back when they were classmates caught in an ambiguous tension. Back then, if their fingertips accidentally brushed against each other, Lu Yinshen’s cheeks would flush crimson. The elegant, handsome young man would avert his eyes, forcing a calm composure as he politely said, “Brother Yan, I am sorry. I was rude.” It was only when he was alone that he would stare at his fingertips and smile like an idiot.
He was so cute that Yan Yi, who had always been following closely behind him, felt his heart melt into spring water. Yan Yi would then look at his own fingertips and let his lips curl into a smile as well. Yan Yi wondered if the System’s power were to spiral out of control and the antagonist accidentally regained his memories, wrongly believing he had been abandoned, would Lu Yinshen still be like this? Yan Yi felt a flicker of hidden concern, but also a wordless anticipation.
Whether it was being tied up, imprisoned, monitored, or wiretapped, to him, it was all merely foreplay. He knew that Lu Yinshen could never truly bring himself to be cruel to him. Yan Yi held Lu Yinshen tightly, moving his kisses from the corners of his eyes to his lips, sucking and licking until they became red and moist. He used all his skills to ensure Lu Yinshen would be fully immersed in this kiss.
Lu Yinshen felt wonderful under the attention, tingling and numb, his body continuously softening. Since becoming what he was now, his five senses had actually been quite dull. Yet, whenever he encountered Yan Yi, his sense of touch faithfully reported every detail back to his body, magnifying the sensations Yan Yi brought and causing him to shiver.
Yan Yi ran his fingers through Lu Yinshen’s hair, brushing aside the long strands blocking his view. He gently bit the back of Lu Yinshen’s neck and flicked his tongue over the skin. This happened to be one of Lu Yinshen’s sensitive spots; his body grew even more limp, leaving him to sit weakly in Yan Yi’s lap. Lu Yinshen gripped the fabric at Yan Yi’s waist and closed his eyes tight, letting the kisses fall thick and fast across his body.
The wooden bedframe groaned with a heavy thud as Yan Yi flipped over, pinning Lu Yinshen down. His tongue and lips became increasingly unrestrained. Clearly, it was Yan Yi who had told Lu Yinshen he could “do anything,” yet it was Yan Yi who ended up doing these things to Lu Yinshen. Fabric was crumpled, and the room was filled with continuous sounds.
This old house was not soundproof. While the commotion was not enough to disturb the neighbors, Yan Jue, who was separated only by a wall, could hear everything clearly. Her face flushed as she covered her ears. Previously, not knowing the situation, she thought her brother was being bullied. Thinking about it now, it was clearly her brother bullying someone else. No, he was bullying a ghost.
She leaned her body closer to the wall, hoping the mottled, cool white surface would soothe the summer heat. However, this only made the sounds from Yan Yi’s room clearer. Now, even Yan Jue’s earlobes were deep red. Aside from the creaking, she could hear a man’s groans, low, soft, vibrating through the wall and into her eardrums. The voice was exceptionally sexy and alluring. Those breaths sounded better than all the voice actors she had ever listened to combined.
Yan Jue’s face burned hotter. She silently recited a makeshift Heart Purifying Incantation to calm herself down so she could sleep. She had a day shift at the factory in the afternoon; if she stayed up too late, she would not have the energy.
Yan Yi, still unsatisfied, sucked on the slightly firm flesh of Lu Yinshen’s shoulder, leaving a red mark complete with teeth indentations. He raised his gaze slightly. Aside from Lu Yinshen’s face, which remained somewhat pale and clean, the rest of his body was covered in hickeys carved by Yan Yi’s teeth and lips. Crimson and damp, the sight was somewhat erotic. Yan Yi contentedly bit Lu Yinshen’s protruding Adam’s apple, taking it into his mouth to lick it slowly.
Lu Yinshen’s eyes were half-closed in pleasure, his throat vibrating with constant groans. The hands resting on Yan Yi’s waist had lost all their strength from the intensity of the affection. These shallow breaths only made Yan Yi’s desire surge further, but as he released the skin, he did not intend to continue. Seeing that Yan Yi had stopped after kissing his Adam’s apple, Lu Yinshen opened his eyes, looking utterly bewildered.
Yan Yi tilted his head and gave one final kiss to the now-crimson lips. He held him close, whispering into his ear, “It is late. Let us rest first.” He thought to himself that he needed to make money quickly to buy a house with good soundproofing. Otherwise, every movement could be heard by others. It was not just about expressions; Yan Yi’s possessiveness was so strong that he did not even want others to overhear the sounds Lu Yinshen made when he was moved. Furthermore, it was late, and since the walls were thin, others needed their rest too.
Although Lu Yinshen wanted to continue, he saw the dark circles of exhaustion under Yan Yi’s eyes and nodded in agreement. Humans were, after all, different from him. As the breathing in his ear grew steady, Lu Yinshen took Yan Yi’s hand, making the boy hold him tighter. He curled his body into the youth’s embrace, falling into a warm, shared sleep.
Yan Yi went to bed late but woke up early. As soon as he opened his eyes, his vision was filled with Lu Yinshen. He kissed his face and said with a smile, “Good morning.” Lu Yinshen mimicked him, kissing his cheek and saying solemnly, “Good morning.”
Yan Yi held him, lying there simply for a long time. Then he got up to prepare breakfast and check on his mother. Seeing she was still asleep, he did not wake her. He took out his phone and logged into a forum. He wanted to see if any buyers were interested in the little things he had made. In truth, Yan Yi had not expected his small software to be bought so quickly, but to his surprise, several people had sent him private messages.
Yan Yi categorized these buyers. After filtering out those who lacked sincerity, two remained. One was an account named AAA Brother Wang, who wrote, “Hello, Y-God. I am an employee at Zhiju. Our company badly needs this automated bug-hunting and vulnerability-patching software. I think it has great prospects. Our company is very sincere. If you are interested in selling, please reply.” Zhiju was a very powerful tech company in this world. The other was a user named with a single period who asked, “Will you sell for three million?”
The first person had a large company backing them, so the price would certainly be high. The second person was a man of few words but likely decisive. After a moment’s thought, Yan Yi decided to sell to the second person. When a large company approves funds, processes orders, and transfers money, even the fastest turnaround would likely take several days to reach his hands.
Using negotiation tactics, he engaged the second buyer. After some haggling, he raised the price by another six hundred thousand. Since this was within the buyer’s range, the transaction went smoothly. Soon, several of Yan Yi’s accounts received deposits totaling over three million. To avoid raising red flags, he had the buyer distribute the payments across different accounts. Yan Yi handed the card with the most money to Lu Yinshen and said, “In our world, husbands need to give their salary cards to their partners.” Hearing this, Lu Yinshen did not refuse. With a beaming smile, he accepted it.
With money in hand, the next step was how to spend it logically. He needed a job, specifically one that Yan Jue and Zhang Xiu were not familiar with, so they would not know exactly how much he should be earning. This way, he could give them money without making them suspicious. In this world, Yan Yi’s background was that of a pitiful child who dropped out after junior high due to family misfortunes. Since he had not even finished junior high, his official education level was only primary school. If he tried to apply for corporate jobs, his resume would be filtered out immediately.
Other jobs, unless they did not require an education, would not take someone like him. Such jobs usually involved manual labor to make money, and Yan Jue likely would not agree to that. Furthermore, Yan Jue did manual labor herself and knew exactly how much those jobs paid. If Yan Yi brought home too much money, she would get suspicious. Additionally, his mother needed someone to look after her at home. Yan Yi lowered his eyes in thought. Perhaps he could find a job he could do from home.
The internet was highly developed now, with opportunities everywhere. Yan Yi registered an account on Douyin. Just as he finished, Yan Jue woke up and walked out. Her gaze toward Yan Yi was subtle, and her face began to redden for no apparent reason. Yan Yi acted as if he did not notice. He smiled and said, “Sister, I found a job online and made some money. When I make more in the future, you should quit the factory job and sign up for the self-taught university exams.”
Yan Jue only smiled and did not take the bait. She changed the subject and said, “Is the food ready? I will go check. If it is cold, I will heat it up.” Even in summer, the food had long since gone cold. After Yan Jue heated the meal, the family ate what could have been either breakfast or lunch. As usual, Yan Jue helped their mother turn over and massaged her back. Once finished, Yan Jue hurriedly prepared for her shift. Wages at the garment factory were mostly piece-rate with a very low base salary. The earlier she went and the more she did, the more she earned. With her brother watching their mother, she felt at ease.
After Yan Jue left, Yan Yi went online and ordered a customized smart wheelchair based on Zhang Xiu’s measurements. Staying cooped up at home was not a long-term solution. Once her health improved, specifically once the left side of her body could move and the paralysis on the right side eased, Zhang Xiu could control the wheelchair herself to stroll around the neighborhood, watch children play, and see the scenery. It would be better for her mental health.
Yan Yi also planned to eventually take his family to a hospital in Yanjing with Lu Yinshen. He wanted to get Zhang Xiu’s ears checked to see the level of hearing loss and if a cochlear implant or a tympanoplasty could restore her hearing. The prerequisite, however, was making Yan Jue and Zhang Xiu accept that he could earn this much money through legitimate means. Otherwise, they would worry he had gone down a dark path to earn crooked money.
Yan Yi funneled the money from his accounts into the stock market. This amount would not cause a ripple in the market waves; as long as his gains were not too exaggerated, he did not have to worry about being noticed by major players. He planned to start a business, but while his current funds seemed like a lot, they were not even enough to secure certain qualifications.
Furthermore, a startup needed talent; he needed to scout elites in the field.
Yan Yi opened Douyin and posted a video he had edited. This was his plan to make Yan Jue accept his income. In modern society, a big or even small influencer could earn a fortune through videos or live streaming. Yan Jue knew little about the industry, making it easy for Yan Yi to fool her.
Yan Yi did not like live streaming, but as long as he managed the account well, he could still earn plenty. Most importantly, it would make Yan Jue believe in him.
