After Redeeming the Obsessive Villain Again (Quick Transmigration) - Chapter 22.2
Seeing Yan Yi refuse, Old Master Lu didn’t listen, waving his hand. “Enough, enough. If I tell you to take it, take it. Why be so polite with your own grandfather?”
“I heard you have been taking care of your seventh Uncle for the past two months. Consider this a reward from Grandpa for your hard work.”
After Old Master Lu finished speaking, he hadn’t yet given up on the idea of feeding Lu Yinshen. However, the rotating tray on the table didn’t have spicy meat in front of him anymore. The closest dish was a plate of sweet shrimp. He used the serving chopsticks to give a shrimp to Lu Yinshen, looking at him with gratification and speaking earnestly. “Among your brothers, the eldest has impure motives, the second is dull, the third is clever but dissolute, and the fourth only thinks about traveling and playing every day.”
“The fifth is hardworking but lacks ability, and your sixth brother is even more outrageous, not having settled down yet and playing some game of chasing and running with that girl from the Su family.”
“In this family, only you can shoulder the burden of the vast Lu family business. I know you don’t care for it, and you are capable yourself, having founded your own group.”
“Just take it as my selfishness as a father. You take the majority of the shares, and your other brothers will split the remaining small portion. I truly do not want the Lu family to fall after I am gone.”
Old Master Lu’s gaze was filled with eager expectation. Lu Yinshen’s voice was calm. “Dad, it is still too early to talk about these things. You are still young; living another fifty years is no problem.”
“If you truly find managing the Lu family tiring, hand it over to me. I will take it over.”
Old Master Lu was truly happy now, smiling so widely his teeth were visible.
Lu Yinshen peeled the shrimp by hand and placed it in his father’s bowl with his chopsticks, his brow lowered. “Only, Dad, I hope you can understand my relationship.”
Before the smile could fade from Old Master Lu’s face, he saw the white shrimp meat and smiled even more brightly, agreeing readily. “Do not worry, your father is no old fossil. No matter what kind of girl you like, I will not mind.”
“But the woman must be an adult,” Old Master Lu added.
Lu Yinshen looked up, meeting the old man’s gaze steadily. “Dad, it is not a girl.”
The Old Master froze. He waved a hand dismissively. “It does not matter if it is not a girl. Technology is so advanced these days; you can still have children.”
Before he could finish, Lu Yinshen interrupted, “Dad, you have always taught us to be law-abiding. Surrogacy is out of the question.”
Lu Yinshen’s expression grew even more solemn. “Unless I can give birth myself, I will not have children in this life.”
Old Master Lu felt a buzzing in his ears.
Suddenly, a memory flickered: his eldest grandson, Lu Ye, crying and telling him that Yan Yi and Seventh Uncle were messing around together, asking why he did not discipline them. At the time, the Old Master thought it was just baseless gossip. Influenced by the eldest Lu brother, Lu Ye was jealous and lacked integrity; he had always resented his second brother’s family and showed little respect for his own uncle.
The Old Master had assumed Lu Ye was simply talking nonsense because he was smarting from a beating. He had not given it a second thought, but now, it seemed it might be true. After all, the only man Lu Yinshen had been in close contact with these past few months was Yan Yi. They lived and ate together; it was only natural for other feelings to develop.
He looked at their lips again. As an experienced man, the Old Master had not sensed it before, but now he realized those swollen lips were likely the result of reckless, passionate biting.
But this was a violation of human ethics! How could an uncle and a nephew develop such feelings?
Old Master Lu felt dizzy and lightheaded. For a moment, his vision doubled.
A silver light flickered in Yan Yi’s eyes, and a stream of flowing light settled onto Lu Anguo. The double vision vanished, but Lu Anguo’s temples continued to throb violently as he struggled to process this terrifying realization.
Yan Yi’s expression was soft and submissive as he looked worriedly at the old man. “Grandpa, are you alright?”
Old Master Lu was so angry his head felt like it would explode. If he had a ruler within reach, he would definitely give Yan Yi a piece of his mind for abducting his most prized youngest son.
Even though his son was ten years older than Yan Yi, the thought of Lu Yinshen saying he would not have children unless he could get pregnant made Lu Anguo feel that his son was the one being taken advantage of.
Purely animalistic! His son’s legs had not even fully recovered yet! How dare he do such things to his son? Bastard!
The dining table was noisy with chatter, so no one else noticed the tension in this corner. As the dinner drew to a close and the noise died down, Lu Ye suddenly stood up and shouted at the top of his lungs:
“Yan Yi, that shameless brat, and Lu Yinshen, that dead cripple, are messing around together! I saw it with my own eyes! That dog Yan Yi pinned Lu Yinshen against the car window and kissed him!”
Lu Ye’s cheeks were flushed, and his breath reeked of alcohol; he had clearly drunk a great deal. He had been unhappy with Yan Yi for a long time. Ever since he was disciplined by his grandfather, Yao Si had not associated with him much. A few days ago, he had even seen Sisi acting intimately with someone else.
Meanwhile, Lu Yinshen’s legs were actually getting better. He heard Grandpa had given him shops and shares. If that happened, what would become of his own family? Would they have to live under Lu Yinshen’s thumb forever? Before, he had only asked for fifty million and was refused. He was the biological nephew, while Yan Yi was just a sponsored outsider. Why should Yan Yi be treated better than him?
The more he thought about it, the more unbalanced he felt. Lu Ye bellowed again, “Shameless! An uncle and nephew getting together, do you not feel embarrassed? This is incest!”
“To even show up with lips swollen from kissing, it is really too shameless!”
The piece of watermelon skin in Lu Ang’s hand dropped in shock.
So it was not from eating spicy food?
Coming to his senses, Lu Ang jumped up and stuffed a piece of watermelon skin into Lu Ye’s mouth. “Big brother’s brain is fried from the sun; he is talking nonsense. Everyone, do not believe him!”
Big brother was going too far. Even if second brother and Seventh Uncle had something going on, he should not use such ugly words. They were family; they should be loving.
The expressions of those present became a kaleidoscope of reactions. Since the fire had not reached them yet, they had the leisure to exchange looks and wonder what exactly was happening.
It was over.
That was Lin Rong’s first thought. She hurried to get up and smooth things over. “Lu Ye has clearly had too much to drink and is talking in his sleep. It is late; everyone should head home.”
She quickened her pace toward Yan Yi, fearing the Old Master’s anger would surge and he would strike her son or Seventh Brother with his cane. Lu Zheng followed closely, worried his father would scold his wife or hit Yan Yi and Lu Yinshen.
Lu Anguo felt his head thumping with pain, which was more intense than when the Lu family had faced its greatest crisis. He did not want the others to make a joke out of his youngest son. Forcing himself to stay calm, he waved his hand, dismissing everyone except the second Lu brother’s couple and Lu Ye.
The others looked at each other. Even those who wanted to stay for the drama did not dare defy the Old Master. They pushed and shoved each other out of the Lu family mansion. Before leaving, Lu Ang picked up the watermelon skin Lu Ye had spat out and threw it in the trash. He gave Yan Yi a “good luck” look and gave him a thumbs up, signaling his support for him and Seventh Uncle.
However, once these people left, there would surely be loose tongues spreading rumors and exaggerating tonight’s events.
“Dad, calm down. There must be a misunderstanding. It is definitely not as Lu Ye says. It must be because of something else,” Lin Rong pleaded, forcing herself to stay calm.
Lu Zheng gave Yan Yi a reassuring look. “Xiao Yi, you and Seventh Brother go back first. Leave this to your mother and me.”
Old Master Lu slammed the table, making it boom. “No one is leaving!”
He picked up a chopstick and pointed it at Lu Ye. “Come here.”
Lu Ye, still drunk, walked over with a grin, thinking his grandfather was going to punish the two sinners.
“Slap!” A loud slap left finger marks on his face.
Lu Anguo trembled with rage. “Who allowed you to slander your own brother and uncle like that?”
Lu Ye’s eyes reddened with grievance, and he blurted out recklessly, “I did not slander them! They are already mixed up together! Behind closed doors, who knows how many bedsheets they have soaked?”
“Grandpa, even if you want to hit someone, why only hit me?”
“Why?” Another loud slap landed. The marks were messy, and Lu Ye’s face immediately swelled up. He looked pathetic and ridiculous.
“Because I am not dead yet! The Lu family is still under my control!” Lu Anguo tapped the chopstick fiercely. “While I am still here, you dare to speak such evil words against family. If the Lu family were truly handed to you after a hundred years, how well would you treat your Seventh Uncle?”
“Lu Ye, I have truly wasted my time teaching you about ritual, righteousness, and shame.”
Lu Ye covered his face, his eyes red with fury. “Ritual and shame? Grandpa, yes, I have no shame. I do not know how to respect my elders. But is it really me who has no shame?”
“Is it not this pair of uncle and nephew who ignore morality and get together?”
“Grandpa, you have been biased since we were children. Ever since Yan Yi came and Lu Ang was born, you have treated me more and more coldly. When our family was in trouble, you did not help; you made us sell our house and car to cover the gaps. Yet just because his legs are better, you give him shares and shops. What about me? What did I get?”
“You have been biased all along. Have you ever truly cared about me or my dad?”
Lu Ye’s angry questioning was like a carving knife. A black halo appeared before Old Master Lu’s eyes. His anger surged, and his hand holding the chopstick shook uncontrollably. “I am biased? Did I not give you shops or shares? You wanted houses, and I bought you more than a dozen. You wanted cars, and I bought you dozens. You say I am biased?”
“Where did those things go? Was it not because your own business failed and you had to fill the holes? And you call me biased?”
Lu Anguo’s heart thudded. He was so angry he could barely stand.
Yan Yi stepped forward, supporting him by the sleeve as he sat down. His expression was soft. “Grandpa, Big Brother is not wrong. The man with Little Uncle is indeed me.”
“If you are unhappy, Grandpa, you can take it out on me. Do not make things difficult for Little Uncle.”
The contrast between the two was so stark that even though the Old Master had been opposed to the idea, he suddenly felt that if they were truly together, it might not be so bad. And, though he was not sure if it was his imagination, he felt much better the moment he sat down; his head did not even hurt as much.
He looked at Lu Ye, his voice calming down. “Go to the study and kneel.”
Lu Ye clenched his fists, unwilling to go.
Lu Anguo narrowed his eyes, his tone chilling. “Lu Ye, you dare to disobey my words now?”
The memories of being disciplined with a ruler by his grandfather likely flooded back. Lu Ye’s body trembled, and he reluctantly obeyed.
“Now, let us talk about your business.” Lu Anguo tapped the table, his eyes sharp.
Lu Zheng said in a low voice, “Dad, it is late. Let them go home and rest first.”
The Old Master sneered. “Old Second, you have known for a long time, have you not? You and Lin Rong teamed up to fool your old man. You have got some nerve, daring to lie to your own father.”
Lu Zheng’s voice grew even lower. “Dad, it has nothing to do with Rongrong. I found out first. I did not mean to deceive you; I was just worried you would not be able to accept it, so I thought I would tell you later.”
“Later? There is still a ‘later’? If this happened one more time, I would already be down there with your mother.” Old Master Lu looked at Lu Yinshen.
His voice was commanding. “Tell me. When did you get mixed up with your own nephew?”
Lu Yinshen remained silent. Yan Yi shielded him. “Grandpa, I was the one who seduced Little Uncle first. It has nothing to do with him.”
The air was silent. Lu Anguo’s gaze circled between them. “Fine. You are acting for me, playing out this scene of deep devotion. It makes me look like the villain breaking up a pair of lovebirds.”
Lin Rong added, “Dad, calm down. Sexual orientation is innate. You cannot blame Xiao Yi or Seventh Brother.”
Lu Anguo stared at Lu Yinshen for a long time. “In the past, whatever decisions you made, not liking that primary school as a child, not wanting to live at home in middle school, wanting to tinker with friends in high school, whether it was starting a business or anything else, your father never thought of not supporting you.”
“But now you have developed these feelings for your nephew. It is very hard for your father to accept. You are the son I am most proud of, and a role model for your brothers.”
“In my expectations and plans, even if your legs had not recovered, I would have handed the Lu family to you.”
“But now.”
The Old Master paused for several seconds. “Lu Yinshen, tell your father honestly. Is it only him?”
Lu Yinshen’s gaze was calm as he looked directly into the old man’s eyes, a look of absolute determination within them. “Only him.”
Yan Yi took his hand. “Grandpa, for me, it is also only Little Uncle.”
Lu Yinshen continued, “Dad, I am more than ten years older than him. Yan Yi is still young. The fault lies with me, not him.”
Hearing his words, Lu Anguo suddenly felt weary. He was a good judge of character and knew the two were truly sincere toward each other. He no longer had the heart to say much.
Break them up? Use force? Force them to marry others? None of it would work. He knew himself that matters of the heart were irrational.
He waved his hand. “You two go back first.”
“Yinshen, prepare well for the shareholders’ meeting. Settle the hearts of the shareholders and investors.”
