- Chapter 22.1 - Paranoid Villain (22) Returning to the Lu Family
The day after the follow-up examination, Yan Yi did not request leave. Instead, he went to school for his classes, once again choosing a seat closest to the back door. Although he preferred staying home to accompany his little Uncle over attending lectures, he arrived just on time. The classroom was crowded, but there were still empty seats in the back row. Yan Yi sat down and took out his books.
Lying on the desk next to him was still the cannon fodder from the original story, Zhou Wei. Zhou Wei propped up his head and looked at him with envy. “Brother, the relationship between you and your boyfriend is truly great. I really want to have a sweet, sugary romance too. I want a soft, cute girlfriend. When will a sweet relationship finally favor me?”
Yan Yi lowered his eyelashes, his tone indifferent. “Is the exam not next week? Studying is more important.”
He himself was not particularly disciplined when it came to studying and frequently requested leave to go home. Those in the know understood it was for dates with his boyfriend, yet there he was, advising others that studying was important.
Unaware of the real reason for the leave, Zhou Wei let out a wail and reluctantly took out his books to read. He did not expect to rank high in this school full of monsters, but he at least wanted to avoid failing. He just wanted to scramble for a graduation certificate to find a job later; he had no interest in climbing the social ladder.
Yan Yi flipped through his book, his gaze drifting. Clearly, his attention was not on the content. The printed words fell into his eyes and were automatically blurred. He raised his fingertips to adjust his earphone, allowing himself to hear more clearly.
Lu Yinshen did not have the habit of talking to himself, so there was nothing to hear except the sound of his breathing. Yan Yi felt a bit of regret, yet his expression appeared even more focused.
Zhou Wei felt his eyes grow tired after reading only a few lines. As long as he was not required to study, he could watch even advertisements with great interest. Seeing Yan Yi’s movements, Zhou Wei asked curiously, “I see you wearing earphones every day. What song is so good that you listen to it constantly?”
Yan Yi’s hand paused for half a second before he calmly turned a page. “A sweet song.”
Lu Yinshen had never sung a sweet song, but Yan Yi felt that Lu Yinshen himself was very sweet. When it came to eating him, he was so sweet it made one’s heart flutter.
Zhou Wei made a clicking sound with his tongue. Indeed, being in love was different; no matter how handsome or cold one looked on the surface, they secretly listened to sweet songs in private.
Yan Yi lowered his gaze and focused on the text. When he first arrived in this world, he had read medical books and studied medical knowledge, but he had not encountered much regarding finance. He still needed to study to ensure his grades.
The sound of breathing in his ear was light, and the teacher’s lecture flowed smoothly into Yan Yi’s ears. The scent of books accompanied him for a long time until the sky changed and all classes ended. Yan Yi packed his books and did not delay for a single second. He did not even hear Zhou Wei saying goodbye; he immediately left the classroom.
Entering the house, he found Lu Yinshen was not in his wheelchair but was exercising on the assisted standing machine. Black safety belts restrained his body while outlining his slender silhouette.
Yan Yi approached him, his eyes curving into a smile. “Uncle, I am back.”
Lu Yinshen’s expression was neutral, making it impossible to read his mood. His gaze landed on the Bluetooth earphone in Yan Yi’s ear, and he spoke with a half-smile. “What song is so sweet?”
He must have overheard Yan Yi’s answer at school through the monitor.
Yan Yi did not panic. He asked naturally, “Does Uncle want to listen?”
Taking off the earphone, Yan Yi used very light pressure to tuck it into Lu Yinshen’s ear, careful not to hurt him. It was indeed a song, and the lyrics were indeed very sweet. There was none of the other noise Lu Yinshen had expected. He chose not to point it out; knowing something in one’s heart without exposing the other was its own kind of unique flirtation.
Yan Yi unfastened the straps restraining him. Lu Yinshen’s body became unsteady, and he immediately fell into Yan Yi’s embrace. A hot current of air brushed against his face and the corner of his lips.
Yan Yi’s dark pupils deepened. He leaned his lips close to Lu Yinshen’s other ear, the one without the earphone, and lightly bit the tender earlobe. His voice was low. “Only, how did Uncle know I was listening to a sweet song?”
The tip of Lu Yinshen’s ear felt numb and turned red. His body trembled slightly as he unyieldingly tightened his grip around Yan Yi’s waist. Maintaining this posture, he bit Yan Yi’s cheek. “It was just a guess. Why, is that not allowed?”
Lu Yinshen did not use much force. Yan Yi only felt a patch of wetness on his face and an itch in his heart, but no pain. Yan Yi released the earlobe he had been licking and moved his hand down to grip a firm, soft area, kissing him fiercely. “Uncle is so smart.”
Once their lips met, Yan Yi skillfully moved his tongue within Lu Yinshen’s mouth. Sticky silver threads were exchanged between them, and the sound of the kiss caused the temperature in the air to rise. It was stiflingly hot.
Yan Yi did not kiss for too long. His tongue finally hooked against Lu Yinshen’s lower lip before sliding to the corner of his mouth. “Let us eat dinner now.”
He had many classes today, so it was already dinner time when he got home. He planned to go to the kitchen to prepare dinner for Lu Yinshen immediately. Lu Yinshen’s breathing only faltered for a beat; he did not need extra rest to find the strength to speak. “Mmh.”
After eating and resting for a while, Yan Yi performed his daily routine of feeding him candy, bathing together, and sleeping together. Life was somewhat peaceful, but both of them enjoyed it immensely.
As the days passed, Lu Yinshen’s legs grew stronger. After another check-up, Dr. Song said he was almost fully recovered. Although he still needed to be careful with his diet, there were relatively fewer restrictions. They could even begin to explore the initial stages of intimacy.
Although Lu Yinshen could now move without the wheelchair, his legs still could not support him for long walks, so he still needed Yan Yi by his side to prevent accidents. Deep down, Yan Yi felt a sense of satisfaction that Lu Yinshen could only rely on him, but he also sincerely wanted Lu Yinshen to recover completely as soon as possible.
The sun set behind the mountains. At dusk, an orange-red light reflected on the roadside. Many people stopped to take photos with their phones. Yan Yi held Lu Yinshen’s hand as they walked slowly along the street. Their pace was extremely slow; they had to stop and rest every few steps.
Even so, Lu Yinshen became somewhat out of breath from the exhaustion. His legs went soft, and Yan Yi caught him in his embrace just in time. His entire body sank into Yan Yi’s warm arms. Yan Yi stroked his face distressedly; the temperature was a bit hot, higher than Lu Yinshen’s usual body temperature. It seemed this exercise had truly exhausted him. It appeared the intensity still needed adjustment; they had plenty of time and were in no hurry.
He lightly pinched Lu Yinshen’s abdomen, where the faint outline of abdominal muscles had already appeared. Previously, Lu Yinshen could only sit in a wheelchair and lacked exercise, leaving his waist and abdomen with only soft flesh. Now, the outline was beginning to show, and the texture was very good. Yan Yi loved Lu Yinshen no matter how he looked.
Lu Yinshen closed his eyes and leaned against him to recover his strength. He ignored the mischievous hand at his waist and buried his face in the crook of Yan Yi’s neck, greedily sniffing his scent. His legs were still weak; he only hoped they would improve in the future. Otherwise, if Yan Yi ever ran away, what would he use to catch him?
When Lu Yinshen recovered enough strength to stand straight with his help, Yan Yi brought the opening of a thermos to his lips. “Uncle, do not rush. Take it slow.”
Lu Yinshen drank, and a few drops of water slid from the corner of his mouth, making his lips look moist and enticing. For Yan Yi, no matter how many times he kissed this person, he always wanted more. This craving would never be satisfied, and his desire grew more turbulent every day.
Yan Yi lowered his head, grinding and sucking on his lips. While kissing him, he said, “Grandpa knows your legs are about to recover, so he wants us to go to the old family mansion tonight for a gathering.”
Not only that, but when Old Master Lu heard the news, he was overjoyed. With a wave of his hand, he transferred many of his shares and shops to Lu Yinshen. This made the eldest Lu brother’s family green with envy, wishing they could take his place.
Even though Lu Yinshen did not want the things his father gave him and loathed the hypocritical social acting with the Lu family, Old Master Lu, aside from being a bit chauvinistic, sincerely cared for his children. Thus, Lu Yinshen would not refuse.
He looked at Yan Yi, his voice somewhat broken by the man’s fierce kiss. “Mmh, when we go, mmh, give Grandpa a gift. He likes.”
Before he could finish the words “military models,” Lu Yinshen was held by the back of his neck as Yan Yi deepened the long kiss. As sticky silver threads intertwined, Lu Yinshen’s lips were kissed so much that they were never intact; now they were even more red and swollen.
Yan Yi kissed the corner of his mouth. “I know Grandpa likes models. I previously assembled one by hand; Grandpa will definitely like it.”
Old Master Lu was a collector. Sometimes he would pretend to be elegant by collecting calligraphy and antiques, but he mostly enjoyed collecting military models. He obviously could not get his hands on the real things, but even a single glance at a model could make him happy enough to put away the ancestral ruler he used when his children or grandchildren made mistakes.
Being unable to touch the real things was Old Master Lu’s regret, so models became his substitute. He loved buying various models and enjoyed assembling them himself during his spare time. His model room was currently filled with many models for him to admire.
Yan Yi’s gift would surely hit the mark. If the Old Master was happy, he might even wave his hand and allot more shares and shops to Yan Yi. At that time, the eldest Lu brother’s family would likely grind their teeth in jealousy.
However, Lu Yinshen’s purpose was not money, but to make Old Master Lu view Yan Yi more favorably and increase his goodwill. Neither of them had ever confessed their feelings to the other face to face, but their way of getting along was no different from a confession. It would eventually be exposed and known by others, so it was better to prepare early.
Lu Yinshen leaned against his body. “It is almost time to go to Dad’s place. Let us go.”
Yan Yi nodded and agreed. He carried him home to freshen up before taking a car to the old mansion.
There were not many people tonight. Knowing his youngest son did not like crowds, Old Master Lu only invited his sons and their families. He did not do as he had before, calling it a family dinner but inviting distant relatives and potential business partners. This banquet was also different. Previously, it was a buffet style meal, but now a large round table was set in the living room so they could all sit around it. This format felt more like a family gathering.
Lin Rong was the first to notice them. Her gaze lingered for a few seconds on her son’s hand resting on the seventh brother’s waist. Her expression became somewhat complicated, and she sighed secretly. She quickly adjusted her expression and walked toward them. “Seventh brother, Xiao Yi, you are here. Quick, sit down. Tonight’s food was made by me along with your sisters-in-law and aunts.”
Yan Yi smiled at her. “Mom, I prepared gifts for you, Dad, and Grandpa.”
He could not be biased and only give a gift to Grandpa without preparing anything for his adoptive parents. Hearing this, Lin Rong’s attention was immediately drawn away. She was so happy she could not stop smiling, covering her mouth while saying, “Why did you prepare a gift for Mom? It is enough that you came, really.”
Lu Yinshen spoke from the side, “Second sister-in-law, I also prepared a gift for you.”
Whether it was a gift for a sister-in-law or a formal gift for the groom’s parents, both of them knew the truth in their hearts. The smile on Lin Rong’s face did not fade. She did not refuse and said happily, “Seventh brother has good taste; the gift you give will surely be excellent. I will shamelessly accept it. Next time you come to my house, I will give you a return gift.”
In truth, it was still very difficult for her to accept that her son and the seventh brother were together. However, she knew this meaningful family dinner was held to celebrate the recovery of the seventh brother’s legs. She simply could not bring herself to make him sad or embarrassed on such a happy day. Moreover, seeing the smile on her son’s face, she knew he was sincere. She also could not bring herself to break up the couple.
Lin Rong was worried. She could accept it and persuade her husband to accept it, but what about Old Master Lu? He was old fashioned and feudal; if he found out, several rulers would likely be broken. It seemed she could only help them cover it up for now.
Lu Yinshen’s gift was a jade bracelet. Looking at the style and color, the price was clearly not cheap. Yan Yi’s gift was a necklace. Since both were jewelry, Lin Rong loved them both. She did not decline, put them on, and said to them, “Go inside and sit down first. Seventh brother, your seat is the one next to the head of the table.”
While a round table has no strict hierarchy, the seats could be distinguished by the chairs. Aside from one gold leafed, handmade wooden chair, the others were ordinary black chairs. One could easily tell which one Old Master Lu would sit in.
Yan Yi and Lu Yinshen sat down. There was not much food on the table yet, only some cold appetizers, drinks, and fruits before the meal. Because this banquet was to celebrate Lu Yinshen’s health, Yan Yi did not arrive exactly on time this time, so there were not many people at the table yet.
Lu Ang was there, however. His eyes lit up when he saw them. “Second brother, seventh Uncle, you are here!”
Yan Yi looked at him and nodded, greeting him. Lu Ang blinked, looking completely bewildered. He stared at his second brother’s mouth and could not help but ask, “Second brother, what did you and seventh Uncle eat for lunch? It is so spicy that your lips look like this?”
Yan Yi subconsciously licked his lips, the memory of that warm, wet sensation returning to his eyes. He said contentedly, “Something adult men eat. You are still young.”
Lu Ang was very indignant. “How am I young? I have been an adult for a long time. My dad just held an adult ceremony for me five months ago. Second brother, did you forget so quickly? I remember both you and seventh Uncle came.”
At that time, Yan Yi had not yet appeared in this world. The version of him in Lu Ang’s memory was a false memory implanted by the system.
“Seventh Uncle, you remember, right?” Lu Ang could see that his seventh Uncle was in a good mood today and dared to talk to him.
Lu Yinshen nodded. His eyes lingered on Yan Yi’s face for a few seconds before he looked at Lu Ang. “I remember.”
His memory had not been particularly good in the past, at least, he did not have a photographic memory, but after intentional training, his memory had become better and better.
Yan Yi sat down while half holding Lu Yinshen’s waist. He affectionately peeled a candy and allowed his fingertip to enter Lu Yinshen’s warm, moist mouth along with the candy.
Lu Ang watched from the side, his face full of confusion. When did second brother and seventh Uncle become so intimate? And, he always felt this intimacy was a bit strange. He would not even do this to his five-year-old sister.
Lu Ang was completely confused. At present, only Lin Rong and her husband, Lu Zheng, understood the underlying cause. She was very anxious. With such public intimacy, the Old Master was no naive fool; his eyes were sharper than a hawk’s. What if he noticed something was wrong?
Forget it, Lin Rong gritted her teeth. In any case, the Old Master could not truly beat her to death. At most, she would step forward to protect them when the time came.
People gradually arrived at the table. Old Master Lu was the last to arrive.
Old Master Lu’s name was Lu Anguo. One could tell at a glance that he was in a very good mood today; every wrinkle on his face was filled with smiles. Seeing this, everyone present felt a sigh of relief, though Lin Rong’s heart was still in her throat.
Old Master Lu spoke with a smile in his eyes, “Do not mind me, eat your food.”
As soon as he spoke, everyone immediately began eating and talking lively. Old Master Lu did not like the rule of silence during meals; he preferred the family to be gathered, talking cheerfully while eating.
Old Master Lu picked up his serving chopsticks, intending to give a piece of spicy meat to his most favored son, Xiao Qi. In his youth, he had been forced to eat a bland diet of grass, sweet potatoes, and wheat stalks, and his mouth had no flavor. Later, when life improved, he grew to love meat, and the heavier the seasoning, the better.
Now that he was old, the nutritionist and family doctor forbade him from eating such things. However, he felt that at his age, he might kick the bucket at any time and go down to join his seven deceased wives. He knew his Xiao Qi had also been forbidden from eating spicy food due to his leg injury. Now that his legs were better, Old Master Lu thought he would also enjoy it and picked up a piece of meat.
Just as he was about to put it into Lu Yinshen’s bowl, Yan Yi spoke, drawing Old Master Lu’s attention. “Grandpa, I prepared a gift for you. It is a model of the latest X-1 model that I assembled by hand. There is also an unassembled one in the trunk. After dinner, I will take it to the model room for you.”
The meat from the chopsticks fell back into the dish. Old Master Lu looked at him, feeling very satisfied. Hearing Yan Yi say this, the smile on his face widened. “The second son’s child is truly thoughtful. Grandpa has a street in the Central Square; I will give it to you. Tomorrow, no, tonight, I will have the procedures handled for you.”
Yan Yi quickly refused. “There is no need, Grandpa. I have money.”
Lu Anguo settled the matter without allowing further discussion.
Among all his grandchildren, only Yan Yi was not biologically related. He was someone his second son and his wife had initially sponsored from an orphanage. They grew more fond of him as they saw him more. Additionally, since his son claimed to have an illness—azoospermia—the child was raised within the Lu family. Originally, they wanted to change his surname, but the child was unwilling. His second son and daughter-in-law were soft-hearted and let him be; currently, his household registration had not even been moved to the Lu family.
The Old Master sneered in his heart. Did he not know that the one who truly could not conceive was that girl Lin Rong? Lin Rong was smart, virtuous, and capable of managing the family business. Even if she could not have children, he would not say anything. It was only the second son who thought his father was a stubborn old fossil and a feudal patriarch, rushing to take the blame for the inability to conceive upon himself.
