- Chapter 21 - Paranoid Villain (21) Jealousy
The bathrobe sat half-open on Lu Yinshen’s body, the fabric slipping down and failing to fully conceal his frame. The light shone upon him, casting a layer of shimmering white luster that made him look like a piece of mutton-fat jade waiting to be mined.
Yan Yi lowered his eyes, his gaze falling upon the man pressing closely against him. His pupils traced every detail of the other’s body. His look was even more scorching than the temperature of the bathwater from before.
His palm moved down to the last surviving button. His dark eyes grew obscure, and his warm hand pressed against Lu Yinshen’s skin. The cool skin had become somewhat hot. It was unclear if it was the lingering effect of the bath or if the kiss had made Lu Yinshen’s heart beat so violently that his skin flushed with warmth.
Yan Yi applied a bit of pressure with his fingers and said, “Uncle, I will help you take it off, okay?”
Though he asked politely, his hand had already moved toward the robe. His fingertips undid the fastening, brushing against the skin. Lu Yinshen did not stop him. He only looked at him with those eyes brimming with the colors of spring.
Yan Yi’s features remained obedient, and he made no extra movements. After rescuing all the buttons from their holes, he placed his hands properly on the quilt. As the robe slipped away, the shoulders and waist became clearly visible, yet they were far less striking than the hickeys on the collarbone.
Yan Yi lifted his gaze to meet his. The bedroom was quiet with no other sound. Only the clamor created by the beating of hearts could be heard.
As the night grew darker, Yan Yi pulled up the quilt to cover the marks on Lu Yinshen’s body. “Sleep, Uncle. It is very late.”
Lu Yinshen let out an ambiguous low laugh but did not say anything more. He simply replied, “Alright.”
Yan Yi lay down beside the warm body. He did not feel uncomfortable; instead, his hands felt restless, wanting to wrap around the man’s waist and pull him into his embrace. The sound of breathing in his ear gradually stabilized and became rhythmic. Yan Yi closed his eyes and listened intently. Unlike listening through an earpiece, this had no sense of unreality, and it made him feel very much at peace.
With his mind relaxed, his brain naturally grew drowsy. Just as Yan Yi was about to fall completely into a dream, he felt someone intrude into his arms, like an unconscious movement by Lu Yinshen after falling asleep.
Yan Yi did not open his eyes. He naturally and affectionately placed his hand on the other’s waist, soothing him verbally, “Sleep, darling.”
Lu Yinshen slowly opened his eyes. His gaze was perfectly clear, and a dark, ruthless coldness swirled in his depths. There was not a trace of sleepiness. His red lips parted slightly as he looked at Yan Yi and whispered silently, “Darling, how much longer do you want to keep acting with me?”
Perhaps sensing a slight movement from the person in his arms, Yan Yi subconsciously patted his back to coax him into a good sleep. The ruthlessness in Lu Yinshen’s eyes gradually subsided. He closed his eyes and leaned closer into Yan Yi’s embrace, pressing against his body. What his nose inhaled was a scent more intense and real than those clothes.
The scars in his heart were hard to erase, and his memories felt like illusions. Lu Yinshen could not distinguish whether he was in reality or still trapped in a nightmare. However, even if it were just a hallucination, he was unwilling to let him go.
Perhaps cutting off his limbs could keep him from ever leaving, but why could he not bring himself to do it?
Yan Yi.
You had better keep pretending for a lifetime. Otherwise, I will certainly kill you with my own hands.
Yan Yi did not know that his limbs had narrowly escaped a disaster. He slept soundly while holding his little uncle, not even having a single dream. It was a night of good sleep.
Yan Yi woke up first. Looking at Lu Yinshen’s sleeping face, his heart softened completely. He leaned down and kissed his forehead. He whispered into his ear, “Good morning, Uncle.”
Yan Yi prepared to make breakfast. Just as he was gently lifting the corner of the quilt, someone grabbed his hem. Lu Yinshen was half-awake. “Where are you going?”
Stopping in his tracks, Yan Yi explained, “Uncle, I am going to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for you.”
The grip on his clothes did not loosen. Lu Yinshen’s brow furrowed slightly. “You are not allowed to go.”
His tone was very forceful, and Yan Yi did not want to go against him, so he lay back down on the bed. “Then when do you plan to have breakfast, Uncle?”
Lu Yinshen’s three meals a day had to be regular; they could not be delayed until very late. Lu Yinshen leaned against him, his breath brushing against Yan Yi’s neck, making it feel a bit itchy. Yan Yi relaxed his body so the other could lean more comfortably.
Lu Yinshen said, “Wait another half hour, and we will go together.”
Yan Yi replied, “Okay.”
Time passed slowly. Another vase appeared in Lu Yinshen’s room, filled with paper roses. Yan Yi had been sharing a bed with him these past few days, and his entries and exits from the room had become very natural.
He looked at Lu Yinshen. “Uncle, we have to go to the hospital for a follow-up today.”
The doctor had told them to return in half a month, and today was the day. After these days of rehabilitation and massage, Lu Yinshen could already stand up slightly on his own without external help. Although it only lasted for a short time, it was still a pleasant step forward.
Lu Yinshen nodded to him, put down the candy in his hand, and habitually opened his arms. Yan Yi moved closer and carried him into the wheelchair. Even though his legs were regaining strength, he still could not walk yet and had to rely on tools to get around.
Yan Yi pushed him out the door. The sunlight outside was intense, reflecting in Lu Yinshen’s eyes. Before he could feel the discomfort of the glare, a palm covered his eyes to shield him from the light.
Yan Yi’s gaze was devoted. “Next time you want to come out for fresh air, Uncle, we can leave a bit later.”
The corners of Lu Yinshen’s eyes were tinged with red as he said, “Okay.”
Yan Yi put the wheelchair in the trunk and sat in the back seat holding him. The vehicle was steady. Soon, they arrived at the hospital.
Yan Yi had already completed the registration process online in advance. They did not waste any time, finishing all the examinations and seeing the doctor.
Dr. Song looked at the charts in his hand and nodded with satisfaction. “The patient’s recovery is very good. Continue the rehabilitation exercises, and you will definitely be able to walk normally in the future. As for the diet, pay attention to keeping it light and avoid spicy foods.”
After he finished explaining all the precautions, Yan Yi listened intently. Dr. Song’s gaze drifted between them a few times before he added, “Sexual activity is still not very convenient for now. Wait until the legs are better; you can break the bed then if you want, but you must be careful now.”
It was unexpected that Dr. Song, despite his age, had such forward-thinking ideas. Yan Yi’s face flushed red with embarrassment. He stammered, “Okay, okay, I, I will certainly be careful.”
Dr. Song wiped his reading glasses and waved his hand. “Alright, you can go home now. Remember to still come back for follow-ups.”
Yan Yi agreed. He led Lu Yinshen out of the room. “Uncle, do you want to go straight home or look around?”
At this time, the sun was not as piercing as before. Lu Yinshen spent most of his day at home. Because of his legs, he did not like going out, wanting to avoid various looks of pity, regret, or even schadenfreude. However, keeping him cooped up at home was not the answer either. Going out to see beautiful scenery was also helpful for his physical and mental health.
Lu Yinshen squinted at the distance and nodded. “Let us look around.”
Seeing his willingness, Yan Yi was quite happy. He chose to take Lu Yinshen to a nearby park. At this time, there were not many people, and the greenery and flowers there were well-maintained, making it an excellent choice for a stroll.
Upon entering the park, they indeed did not see many people. It was a lush scene perfectly suited for a walk. Both enjoyed the atmosphere of having only each other. A cold wind blew, brushing past the green leaves and their bodies. Yan Yi touched Lu Yinshen’s face with the back of his hand. The temperature was not icy, so it seemed Lu Yinshen did not feel uncomfortable. He felt relieved and wandered aimlessly through the park with him.
They happened to run into a boy who did not look very old. He had a cute baby face and was full of youthful energy. His gaze landed on Lu Yinshen, and his eyes lit up. He pursed his lips bashfully, but his pace quickened as he walked toward them.
Seeing this, Yan Yi’s brow furrowed slightly. Could this person be interested in his little uncle?
Sure enough, the person walked up to them and shyly struck up a conversation with Lu Yinshen. “Hello, brother. My name is Xiang Yang, and I am nineteen this year. May I get to know you?”
Yan Yi lowered his eyes, not exposing his overly ruthless gaze. Irritation spread through his heart, but there was nothing he could do. After all, the person had not committed any major mistake. However, violent thoughts still swept over him, and jealousy rampaged uncontrollably.
Lu Yinshen pulled open his collar, revealing hickeys of various depths. The colors were different, showing they had not been left at the same time. The marks were particularly obvious against his fair, beautiful collarbone. Lu Yinshen’s tone was very calm. “Have you seen clearly?”
Xiang Yang was stunned. His eyes instantly turned red, and he sniffled as he apologized to them, “I am sorry. I did not know you had a boyfriend. I am truly sorry.”
Glancing at the departing figure, Yan Yi leaned over and patiently fastened the button, whispering against Lu Yinshen’s ear, “Uncle, there is a wind. Wear it properly.”
Lu Yinshen hooked his hand around the back of Yan Yi’s neck and exchanged a long kiss with him. Out of the corner of his eye, Yan Yi saw the boy from before; his eyes were completely red as he left the park in a daze.
Having been distracted for only a second, Yan Yi focused all his thoughts back on the entwined lips and teeth with Lu Yinshen. The strength at the back of his neck increased rather than loosened. They kissed deeply, as if unable to part.
Lu Yinshen’s kissing skills had improved a lot; at least he knew how to get oxygen now. The corners of his eyes were a deep crimson, but no tears flowed. Yan Yi gripped his waist tightly and closed his eyes, kissing him so hard that Lu Yinshen panted with difficulty, yet Yan Yi still did not let go.
Only when the corners of Lu Yinshen’s eyes grew moist again did the pressed lips separate.
Gently wiping away the tearful moisture at the corner of his eye with his thumb, Yan Yi rested his forehead against Lu Yinshen’s. Their eyes met, and Yan Yi’s voice held a bit of a smile. “Is Uncle using me as a tool to make an admirer give up hope?”
Lu Yinshen’s vivid red tongue lightly licked Yan Yi’s thin lips, his words blurred. “Take a guess.”
Yan Yi’s eyes curved. “I guess Uncle simply wanted to kiss me. Am I right?”
Lu Yinshen gave him a light peck on the cheek. “Smart.”
Having received the answer he wanted, Yan Yi stood up and said, “Then let us go home now.”
Lu Yinshen agreed. The two took a car back home together, and Yan Yi began preparing lunch. He stewed a pot of pork rib soup along with other nutritious and delicious dishes. After lunch, Yan Yi and Lu Yinshen lay on the sofa together watching television.
He had requested a day off from school today and had plenty of time to stick close to Lu Yinshen. Although the atmosphere was quiet, it was as if there was a barrier around them that left no room for anyone else to intrude.
Yan Yi unwrapped a candy and let Lu Yinshen hold it in his mouth. Lu Yinshen actually had low blood sugar, so Yan Yi often prepared candy for him to eat. After resting enough, Yan Yi carried him into the rehabilitation room. Given Lu Yinshen’s situation, with active recovery, he would be able to walk a few steps on his own in another month or two.
Yan Yi looked forward to the day his legs recovered. He was already impatient to drink that bottle of “whiskey” in the refrigerator.
