- Chapter 27 - It Seems She Wore Her Sister Out
When Ye Wenjin woke up the next morning, she wasn’t as flustered as she had been on previous occasions. Her expression was much more serene.
She remembered very clearly what had happened the night before. Though recalling it still made her a little shy, it wasn’t the first time anymore acting all panicked now would be unreasonable.
Ye Wenjin was trying hard to adjust to her relationship with Jian Mo. After all, they had already registered their marriage they were legally wedded wives.
Moreover, she had noticed that her sister seemed to enjoy intimacy quite a bit. Last night, because her sister had been so alluring, the two of them had stayed up very late.
But perhaps subconsciously aware that she had things to do today, Ye Wenjin still woke up at her usual time.
Once awake, she instinctively looked at Jian Mo, who was nestled in her arms, and saw that she was still peacefully asleep with no signs of waking.
Thinking about how they had stayed up so late the night before, Ye Wenjin’s face flushed slightly, and her heart swelled with warmth.
It seems I wore my sister out.
With that thought, she leaned in a little closer and gently pressed a kiss to Jian Mo’s forehead.
Then, nervous, she quickly pulled back. Seeing that Jian Mo was still sound asleep, she relaxed a little, her gaze lingering on her sleeping face, her expression growing dazed.
From this close, she could clearly see her sister’s long, straight eyelashes, like delicate little fans even the shadows they cast were beautiful.
Every part of her, from her nose to her lips, seemed flawless.
How can someone be this beautiful?
Ye Wenjin stared blankly, not even blinking.
Only when she finally did blink did she belatedly realize that the person in front of her had opened her eyes at some point and was now gazing at her with amusement.
Before Ye Wenjin could even process it, she blinked again in confusion, then suddenly realized Jian Mo was awake. She jerked back, scrambling to sit up.
“Sister, you… you’re awake?”
Jian Mo lazily hummed in response, the corners of her lips curling. “Mhm. For some reason, I felt an intense gaze in my dreams so intense I couldn’t sleep anymore.”
Ye Wenjin’s eyes darted away, and she apologized sheepishly. “Sorry, I woke you up.”
Jian Mo chuckled. “Good morning, Xiao Jin.”
Seeing that she wasn’t going to press the matter, Ye Wenjin obediently replied, “Good morning, sister.”
After exchanging morning greetings, the two prepared to get up.
Truthfully, it was still early, but the mere thought of lying awake together in bed felt like the greatest challenge to Ye Wenjin.
When they were asleep, neither was conscious of it, but being awake like this was far too stimulating.
Still, since they had gone to bed late last night, would her sister have gotten enough rest waking up this early?
Ye Wenjin was a little worried.
But just as she was about to ask, Jian Mo sat up, and the blanket slid off her body, revealing her flawless figure. From Ye Wenjin’s angle, every curve was on full display.
Ye Wenjin averted her gaze as if scalded, patting her chest nervously to calm her racing heart.
What she didn’t notice was that Jian Mo had turned to look at her, eyebrows slightly raised.
After a while, assuming Jian Mo had dressed, Ye Wenjin cautiously turned back, only to find Jian Mo still watching her and still undressed!
Ye Wenjin: “!!”
At this moment, she didn’t have time to overthink. In one swift motion, she got up, grabbed a robe, and draped it over Jian Mo’s shoulders.
“Sister, you should be careful not to catch a cold. Even though it’s warmed up a bit, mornings are still chilly. Getting sick would be really uncomfortable.”
Jian Mo gave her a deep look.
She was genuinely curious about Ye Wenjin’s thought process, how could someone be so innocent at times yet so blunt at others?
Like right now, for instance. There wasn’t a trace of embarrassment on Ye Wenjin’s face. Her expression was full of concern, her eyes utterly sincere.
It meant she truly believed what she was saying.
Jian Mo chuckled softly, leisurely adjusting the robe.
“Xiao Jin, has anyone ever told you that you’re quite interesting?”
Ye Wenjin froze for a moment, seriously racking her brain before shaking her head. “No, I don’t think so. Most people say I’m too straightforward, that I’m a boring person.”
Truth be told, Ye Wenjin didn’t deny it. She was a boring person, but she also felt that this was her most comfortable state, so she didn’t have any particular feelings about it.
But being called interesting was a first—and coming from Jian Mo, no less.
Ye Wenjin’s eyes brightened slightly as she gazed at Jian Mo.
And Jian Mo, unable to resist those sparkling eyes, reached out and ruffled her head.
Sometimes, the way Ye Wenjin looked at her reminded Jian Mo of a puppy so endearing that she couldn’t help but want to pet her and tease her.
And Ye Wenjin, ever so obliging, made it all the easier for Jian Mo to grow accustomed to the gesture.
With their morning emotional exchange concluded, the two finally got out of bed.
Today was Saturday, and according to last night’s plans, they were heading to a neighboring city to watch a performance.
During breakfast, Butler Wu brought over two tickets for the show, which seemed to have just arrived.
The moment Ye Wenjin saw the tickets, her excitement was palpable but then she suddenly remembered something.
“Sister, do you have work to take care of at the company? If you’re busy, I can always go alone.”
Jian Mo glanced at her and reminded her with a sigh, “Xiao Jin, it’s Saturday.”
Ye Wenjin nodded blankly. “Yes.”
Jian Mo smiled. “Since it’s a day off, naturally, the priority is to rest.”
Ye Wenjin blinked in surprise. She had assumed that someone like Jian Mo, a boss would be incredibly busy, coming home late even on regular days.
With endless tasks to handle and meetings big and small, weekends would surely be no exception.
After all, that was how Yin Yu had been. In her memories, Yin Yu always seemed swamped, returning home late at night sometimes not at all, citing social obligations. It was rare for her to spend an entire day at home.
Ye Shuyao often told her how hard Yin Yu worked and how much effort she herself put into managing the household, so Ye Wenjin was expected to be obedient and not bother others with trivial matters, learning to handle things on her own.
As a result, she had instinctively assumed Jian Mo would be just as busy.
“Oh, I see. I thought bosses worked even on their days off.”
Seems she had taken it for granted. Ye Wenjin silently sipped her porridge.
Jian Mo chuckled lightly. “Bosses are human too, so of course they have days off. While it’s true that work is demanding, the company won’t collapse just because I’m gone for a day. If something urgent comes up, my assistant will let me know. Xiao Jin, you should understand delegating appropriately makes things easier for both yourself and your employees.”
Ye Wenjin blinked, not expecting her sister to share this with her. But when she tried to imagine it, it did seem like a much more relaxed way to live.
If you had a boss who nitpicked everything, micromanaged every detail, and kept a constant eye on your work, you’d probably end up with a nervous breakdown just from going to work.
So perhaps, for employees, meeting a boss like Jian Mo was a stroke of luck?
At least it was much better for one’s mental health.
Ye Wenjin couldn’t help but think this way.
After breakfast, Ye Wenjin hesitated for a moment before glancing at Jian Mo and asking, “Sister, I’d like to go upstairs and change my clothes. Is that okay?”
Jian Mo nodded. “Mm, go ahead.”
With that, Ye Wenjin hurried upstairs with light steps, not only changing her outfit but also applying a touch of makeup.
Just as she was about to head back downstairs, she paused, turned around, and grabbed a notebook and pen, just in case there was a chance to ask for an autograph later.
By the time she finished preparing and went downstairs, Jian Mo was already waiting for her.
Ye Wenjin felt a pang of nervousness and quickly ran over. “Have you been waiting long, Sister?”
Jian Mo turned to look at her, immediately noticing the effort she had put into her appearance. Her eyes darkened slightly, but her expression remained unchanged as she replied softly, “No.”
Ye Wenjin didn’t catch the shift in her gaze, focusing only on her expression. Seeing no reaction, she felt a faint sense of disappointment.
“Then, let’s go.”
The performance was scheduled for the afternoon. The neighboring city wasn’t far, just an hour’s drive so they had plenty of time to spare and could explore a bit before the show.
At least, that was what Ye Wenjin had originally thought.
It suddenly occurred to her that going to a performance together like this was essentially a date!
And not just any date, it was her first date with her sister.
Given that, she couldn’t just treat it casually. Putting effort into her appearance was absolutely necessary.
But Jian Mo didn’t seem to react much to her carefully chosen outfit.
Ye Wenjin felt a bit deflated. Though she had been looking forward to the dance performance, her excitement dimmed slightly at that moment.
“Xiao Jin.”
Ye Wenjin instinctively looked up. “What is it, Sister?”
Jian Mo’s gaze was somewhat shadowed, and for a moment, she didn’t speak.
Ye Wenjin watched her, suddenly growing nervous as she sensed Jian Mo’s mood seemed off.
“Sister? Did I upset you?”
Jian Mo shook her head before speaking slowly. “Xiao Jin really likes Teacher Mei Yan. You’ve dressed up beautifully today.”
Ye Wenjin froze for a second. When she grasped the implication behind those words, her first reaction was disbelief, followed by exhilaration.
She tried to contain herself and carefully explained, “I do love Teacher Mei Yan’s performances, but the reason I dressed up was actually because this is my first date with Sister. I couldn’t just go out looking careless that would’ve been too thoughtless.”
As Ye Wenjin spoke, Jian Mo’s eyes gradually softened. By the time she finished explaining, Jian Mo had returned to her usual demeanor.
Still, she asked for confirmation, “So, Xiao Jin dressed up for me?”
Hearing the question, Ye Wenjin felt a little shy but nodded anyway. “Mm! I wanted to match Sister better.”
Most of her clothes were casual, with a distinctly student-like vibe.
Ye Wenjin had always believed that as long as something was wearable, it was fine. But if she was going out with Jian Mo, she couldn’t just wear those kinds of clothes.
Otherwise…
People might really mistake them for sisters.
Ye Wenjin didn’t want that, so she deliberately changed into a different outfit. Even so, the gap between them wasn’t something that could be easily bridged by clothing alone.
Ye Wenjin had agonized for a long time before finally settling on the outfit she was wearing now. Even as she came downstairs, her heart was still fluttering with nervousness, afraid that Jian Mo might not find it appealing.
But Jian Mo’s focus wasn’t on whether her clothes looked bad, it was on the fact that she had dressed up so carefully, and even assumed she had done so for the sake of watching the performance.
Though the thought felt a little narcissistic, Ye Wenjin couldn’t help but wonder,
Was sister jealous just now?
The moment this idea surfaced, Ye Wenjin couldn’t help but feel a surge of happiness.
Jian Mo chuckled softly, her voice tender. “It looks lovely. So you put this much thought into it?”
Hearing this, Ye Wenjin’s eyes sparkled because she had been praised by her sister.
The sense of disappointment vanished in an instant, and only then did Ye Wenjin belatedly feel a little embarrassed by her own words.
Jian Mo’s eyes were also filled with amusement, clearly in a very good mood.
The two soon set off, arriving in the neighboring city while it was still early.
Ye Wenjin had originally planned to suggest wandering around, but before she could even speak, Jian Mo had already made arrangements.
Yet their first stop was a shopping mall.
Just as Ye Wenjin was puzzling over why they had come here, Jian Mo casually walked into a women’s clothing store, scanned the racks, and then began holding up outfits against her.
Ye Wenjin startled. “Sister?”
Jian Mo motioned for her to stay still, her gaze fixed between Ye Wenjin and the clothes in her hands, considering whether they suited her.
Obediently, Ye Wenjin fell silent, watching with wide eyes as Jian Mo continued comparing one outfit after another against her.
After evaluating several sets, Jian Mo turned to the sales assistant trailing beside them and said, “For all the ones I just looked at, get one in her size.”
Struck by this sudden windfall, the assistant immediately flashed a professional smile and responded brightly, “Of course, miss.”
Ye Wenjin was stunned, momentarily overwhelmed by Jian Mo’s extravagant shopping approach.
It wasn’t until Jian Mo turned to browse other items and started holding them up against her again that Ye Wenjin finally snapped out of it and hurriedly said, “Sister, there’s no need this is way too much. I’d never wear all of it.”
Jian Mo patted her hand reassuringly. “It’s fine. They’re all different styles, you can rotate them.”
And so, Ye Wenjin watched as she resumed her shopping spree clothes, shoes, bags, accessories.
By the end, Ye Wenjin felt dizzy staring at the mountain of neatly packaged shopping bags.
She had never seen such an intense shopping method before, it was downright jaw-dropping.
“Hmm, this set looks nice. Wenjin, go try it on.”
Dazed, Ye Wenjin took the clothes and numbly changed into them.
Jian Mo examined her carefully before nodding in approval. “Yes, wear this one.”
Remembering their last experience, Ye Wenjin obediently packed the clothes she had arrived in into one of the shopping bags.
Jian Mo seemed very pleased.
So Ye Wenjin also turned to look at their reflections in the mirror.
Jian Mo had excellent taste, the outfits she picked suited Ye Wenjin’s temperament perfectly, yet they were completely different from what she usually wore. Now, standing together, they no longer looked like sisters at all.
Instead, they resembled a genuine couple perfectly matched and harmonious.
All the gaps she had once perceived were slowly being filled in by Jian Mo, one by one.
