Jiang Wanyi stepped inside and changed into her slippers, offering a noncommittal hum to the Alpha’s answer.

When Shangguan Shi reached out to take her bag, Wanyi’s heart skipped a beat as she remembered the goal of this mission.

“Sister Shi,” Wanyi tilted her head up, her eyes instantly becoming tearful and pitiful. “I… I just didn’t know why, but I missed you so much today. So I brought some clothes over. You won’t be mad at me, will you?”

Since Shangguan Shi had already given her the passcode to the door, she naturally wouldn’t be angry.

“That’s good.” Wanyi’s tone lightened, and her steps became brisk as she headed toward her room. Although her heavy luggage hadn’t been moved in yet, the rooms had already been divided.

Shangguan Shi helped carry her bag inside, but Wanyi quickly shooed her out. “Thank you, Sister Shi. Hurry back to your room and dry your hair. I’m going to take a shower.”

Aware of the boundaries between Alphas and Omegas, Shangguan Shi pointed out where the new toothbrushes and towels were kept before retreating to her own room.

Once the scumbag Alpha was gone, Wanyi’s expression relaxed. She opened her backpack and took out three sets of clothes. One was regular attire for tomorrow, and the other two were pajamas: one set was standard, and the other was… significantly more private.

She bit her lip, caught in a dilemma. To make the Alpha trust her completely, the second set was clearly better, but Wanyi didn’t want to sacrifice herself. But how can I succeed without sacrifice?

The two thoughts battled in her head, but she ultimately chose the standard set. As the saying goes, the thing you can’t get is always the best. She wanted the Alpha to grovel, to please her, and to hand over the evidence of her crimes voluntarily. The more Wanyi thought about it, the more her blood boiled with excitement, as if she already held the evidence of the woman’s monstrous crimes in her hand.

She showered quickly, put on her pajamas, and went to knock on Shangguan Shi’s door just as the Alpha had done. “Sister Shi, are you asleep?”

“Not yet.”

“Can I come in?” Wanyi’s voice sounded slightly nervous.

“The door is unlocked.”

Wanyi turned the handle and walked over to the Alpha. She licked her lower lip, her eyes clear. “Sister Shi, can you help me dry my hair?”

In reality, her hair hadn’t even grown back yet; it was just an excuse. Shangguan Shi’s gaze lingered on her face for three seconds before she said, “Alright.”

Wanyi’s eyes lit up as she sat on the edge of the bed. “Thank you, Sister Shi!”

Since Shangguan Shi was taller, Wanyi’s position meant the neckline of her pajamas didn’t sit flush against her skin, allowing the Alpha an easy view inside. But less than a second after sitting down, Wanyi used her left hand to press the collar against her chest. She wouldn’t let the scumbag look; she didn’t deserve it.

Shangguan Shi saw the movement and assumed her young wife was just shy. She took the hairdryer and focused her attention on the short, thick black hair. But while she could avert her gaze, she couldn’t stop breathing. The Omega’s sweet pheromones drifted around her nose. It was faint yet pervasive, making it impossible to concentrate.

“Wanwan,” the Alpha’s voice was slightly husky.

Wanyi felt tense. she had already prepared a refusal, ready to keep her tone innocent. “Sister Shi?”

“Are you free tomorrow? Let’s go to the hospital for a check-up and test our pheromone compatibility while we’re at it.”

A check-up was important. Since they were living under the same roof, it would be bad if the scumbag had some infectious disease. Wanyi replied, “I don’t have classes tomorrow morning. We can go after breakfast.”

With the time set, Shangguan Shi asked, “What do you want for breakfast tomorrow?”

“Anything is fine, I’m not a picky eater.” Wanyi paused. “But I prefer Chinese style.”

Their first date had been Western—expensive and not as satisfying as Chinese food. Although it wasn’t her money being wasted, it was her stomach that hadn’t been properly comforted. Shangguan Shi seemed to guess what the girl was thinking and smiled. Her high nasal bridge and unique eye color usually gave her a cold, distant beauty, but her smile was like a spring breeze; vivid and moving.

Unfortunately, Wanyi’s back was turned, so she missed it entirely. She was too busy thinking about how to make the Alpha love her without ever obtaining her.

When her hair was dry, Wanyi turned around and gave Shangguan Shi a brief hug, intentionally releasing a tiny bit of pheromones before smiling sweetly. “Sister Shi, I’m going back to my room to rest. You should sleep early too. Goodnight.”

She hurried out and locked her bedroom door. Lying on the bed, it took a long while for her heart rate to return to normal. She opened her phone and searched for “pinhole cameras.”

On the other side of the wall, Shangguan Shi felt the Omega’s lingering pheromones in the room. She sighed softly and turned on the air purifier.

Wanyi didn’t sleep much during the first half of the night and didn’t wake up until eight. She lingered in bed for a bit, then washed up and groomed her eyebrows. By the time she walked downstairs in her slippers, it was 8:30.

Shangguan Shi was still in her pajamas, sitting on the sofa with a laptop. Hearing her come down, the Alpha looked back once before returning to work. She always seemed busy. Is she still working on that plot of land like my sister?

“Sister Shi,” Wanyi called softly. “Do you have a lot of work? If it’s too much, we can do the check-up another time.”

“I’m not that busy,” Shangguan Shi smiled. “There’s always time for a check-up.”

Wanyi offered a small, demure smile. “That’s good.”

Detecting the scent of the Omega’s pheromones again, Shangguan Shi’s eyes flickered. She closed her laptop and stood up. “Breakfast is ready. I’ll go get it from the kitchen.”

“You put your computer away; I’ll get it,” Wanyi insisted and headed for the kitchen.

There wasn’t a huge amount of food, but there was a wide variety. It took both of them to bring everything out. They sat next to each other at the large table, each with their own thoughts, neither saying a word. After eating, they changed and drove to the hospital.

It was a private hospital owned by the Shangguan family. The doctors had been notified the day before and had everything prepared for an immediate check-up. After the routine exams, they each had a sample of pheromones taken for the compatibility test.

A special glass vial was placed against the back of Wanyi’s neck. She released some pheromones, and the extraction was finished in seconds without any discomfort. This was the standard procedure, but because Shangguan Shi suffered from Pheromone Deficiency Disorder, she had to undergo a special process.

Wanyi watched as a thin needle was inserted into the Alpha’s gland. Shangguan Shi furrowed her brows slightly, her face turning pale for a moment. Once the needle was withdrawn, her color slowly returned to normal.

If a tiny needle hurts that much, wouldn’t the process of an Alpha marking an Omega be incredibly painful? Wanyi thought, her palms tightening. She was secretly glad Shangguan Shi was “sick.” If she weren’t, Wanyi would have to find countless excuses to avoid being marked.

In truth, Shangguan Shi wasn’t pained by the needle; she was distressed by the extraction itself. Pheromones are vital to Alphas and Omegas. Her own levels were already low, requiring medication to maintain hormonal stability. Having a portion extracted was far more painful for her than for a healthy person.

Fortunately, Wanyi was beside her. Being able to smell the girl’s pheromones made her feel a little better.
