After Mistakenly Marking Her Stunning Omega Stepsister - Chapter 6
Turning around, she saw Wen Xiangzhu had already slipped inside, clutching her stuffed animal and standing quietly by the door.
“Did I invite you in?” Lin Sui asked, her brow furrowing.
“I can sleep on the sofa,” Wen Xiangzhu said softly, quickly moving to the small sofa at the foot of the bed. “Just give me a blanket, Sister.”
Lin Sui paused. “No.”
“Sister… I’m scared. I promise I won’t disturb you!” Wen Xiangzhu pleaded, her eyes red and pleading.
As if she remembered something, she hurriedly opened the door, ran out, and brought back her quilt.
“I won’t bother you, Sister. Please don’t make me leave.”
Lin Sui pressed her slightly dry lips together, watching Wen Xiangzhu obediently spread out her quilt on the sofa and lie down. She sighed.
Fine, let her stay. It’s not like it’ll make much difference…
With that thought, Lin Sui turned and poured herself a glass of water.
Her hair was still damp at the ends, and her purple-gray dress stopped just above her ankles, giving her an air of languid detachment.
On the small sofa, Wen Xiangzhu watched Lin Sui’s back, silently hugging her rabbit plushie close and curling into herself, taking a deep breath.
So fragrant…
After drinking some water, Lin Sui went to the bathroom and dried her hair before returning.
Only a warm yellow lamp was lit in the room. The girl on the sofa seemed to have fallen asleep, and the house was quiet, filled only with a faint, elusive strawberry scent.
An Alpha’s territory, invaded by a stranger’s scent.
Lin Sui pressed her lips together, her expression slightly strange.
She was wondering if letting Wen Xiangzhu stay had been a mistake.
To be honest, the unfamiliar scent in this familiar place made her uneasy.
After a moment’s thought, she decided not to dwell on it. She lay down and closed her eyes.
The rain intensified. Even in summer, the late-night temperature had dropped several degrees.
In the dimly lit room, Lin Sui slowly opened her eyes, her drowsiness completely gone.
She sat up and looked toward the sofa. The girl lying there had her eyes closed, murmuring something.
Lin Sui watched her for a moment, then got up and walked over.
The girl clutched the edge of the blanket tightly, curled into a tight ball on the small sofa. Her long eyelashes lay against her cheeks, trembling occasionally, while her soft lips parted slightly, emitting fragmented whispers.
“Sis, don’t make me leave… I’ll be good…”
Is she having a nightmare?
Sleeping on the sofa, she probably couldn’t even turn over comfortably.
With this thought, Lin Sui, as if possessed by some unseen force, gently lifted Wen Xiangzhu and moved her to the bed.
She slept so deeply that she didn’t wake, simply turning over and burrowing deeper under the covers after being laid down.
As her hair spread out, the heart-shaped Blocker Patch on the back of her neck was revealed.
She applied a heart-shaped patch today…
Lin Sui quickly snapped out of her daze and averted her gaze.
Now, not only the room, but even the bed reeked of Wen Xiangzhu’s scent.
******
This seemed even stranger.
Lin Sui turned her head, stopping her wild thoughts. She then took a long, cylindrical plushie and placed it between herself and Wen Xiangzhu, serving as a makeshift boundary.
Then she lay down and fell into a deep sleep.
That night, Lin Sui didn’t sleep well. When she woke up, the person beside her was already gone.
The faint lingering scent in the room reminded her that it wasn’t a dream.
Lin Sui composed herself, tidied up, and opened the door. She immediately caught the faint aroma of milk.
Looking down the stairs, she saw Wen Xiangzhu sitting at the dining table, which was laden with an array of delicate pastries.
Hearing the sound of the door, Wen Xiangzhu looked up and called out, “Good morning, Sister! Come have breakfast!”
From a distance, Lin Sui couldn’t clearly see her expression. After a pause, she began descending the stairs.
Wen Xiangzhu seemed somewhat nervous, her voice trembling slightly as she said, “I… I made these following online tutorials.”
Lin Sui glanced at the pastries before turning to Wen Xiangzhu.
The younger girl swallowed nervously. “Sister, please try one.”
Lin Sui nodded, took a seat across from her, and picked up a puff pastry to taste.
The sugar seems a bit too sweet, and they might have been baked a little too long…
As Lin Sui thought this, she met Wen Xiangzhu’s expectant gaze.
After a pause, she said, “It’s quite good.”
“As long as Sister doesn’t mind, that’s all that matters!” Wen Xiangzhu looked delighted, her dimpled smile brightening her face.
“There’s a housekeeper who cooks at home. You didn’t need to make these,” Lin Sui said calmly.
Wen Xiangzhu blinked. “I just wanted to… I wanted to make something special for Sister.”
Lin Sui’s eyes darkened slightly as she lowered her gaze and quietly ate her breakfast.
Neither of them mentioned what had happened the previous night.
For the past few days, Wen Wenfu had been on a business trip with Lin Wei in the neighboring city, leaving only Lin Sui and Wen Xiangzhu at home.
Lin Sui felt awkward staying at home alone with Wen Xiangzhu, and for the first time, she realized how long this seven-day holiday would feel.
Seeing her classmates in the class group chat discussing plans for the amusement park tomorrow, Lin Sui felt a surge of relief, like spotting a lifeline. She quickly nudged Zhu Huan.
[I’m going to the park tomorrow too. Don’t let Wen Xiangzhu know.]
A quick reply came through, accompanied by a panda emoji.
[Zhu Zhu Zhu: Oh, you’re still hiding?]
[I have no choice. I barely know her, and it feels so awkward being around her.]
[Zhu Zhu Zhu: Alright, alright. I’ll let them know.]
After ending the chat, Lin Sui put down her phone and walked to the window, lifting the curtains to look outside.
The sky was dark, with only the weak warm glow of streetlights illuminating the ground.
It wasn’t raining today, and there was no thunder.
Lin Sui’s eyelashes fluttered slightly as she withdrew her gaze, realizing what she was thinking. She frowned, startled.
No, this isn’t right.
Forget it. I’ll watch some variety shows and go to sleep…
With this thought, Lin Sui returned to her bed and turned on the projector, but her attention was drawn to the stuffed animal sitting nearby.
Why hadn’t Wen Xiangzhu taken her rabbit plushie?
Lin Sui hesitated for a long moment before picking up the toy and knocking on the door to the neighboring room.
The door remained closed for a while before Wen Xiangzhu cracked it open, peeking out cautiously.
“Sister, I’m changing. I’m not fully dressed yet…” Wen Xiangzhu murmured, her cheeks flushed as she hid behind the door.
Hearing this, Lin Sui’s eyes darkened slightly. Without further comment, she held the plushie up to the crack in the door, her voice stiffening.
“It’s yours.”
Wen Xiangzhu blinked, her eyes brightening. Then, as if remembering something, the flush on her cheeks deepened.
She reached her slender hand through the crack, delicate fingers and pale wrist emerging to gently grasp the fluffy toy before quickly withdrawing.
“Thank you, Sister,” she whispered.
Lin Sui averted her gaze. “I just brought you a doll.”
“No, that’s not it. I’m thanking you for more than that.”
Wen Xiangzhu’s eyes widened slightly, gazing at her with crystalline intensity. “For… last night.”
Lin Sui looked at her, recalling how she had carried her to bed. Feeling inexplicably guilty, she lowered her gaze.
A beautiful, defenseless Omega asleep in her room—no Alpha could remain completely unaffected.
But.
She hadn’t done anything wrong, had she?
That’s what Lin Sui believed.
She failed to realize what this meant to an Omega.
At the time, Wen Xiangzhu had been deeply asleep, the scent of Lin Sui lingering around her. A mix of shower gel and shampoo, along with the faint, unconsciously released pheromones that surfaced during sleep.
She loved that scent.
