After Mistakenly Marking Her Stunning Omega Stepsister - Chapter 7
Lin Sui lowered her gaze, her eyes unfocused. “I was just worried you’d catch a cold.”
After a pause, she added, “From now on, you’re not allowed to sleep in my room.”
Lin Sui turned to leave when Wen Xiangzhu asked urgently, “Why?”
Lin Sui looked at her, her eyes flickering with an unreadable light. “If it were any other Alpha, would you be so eager to sleep with them?”
“No, I wouldn’t!” Wen Xiangzhu pressed her lips together. “Sister…”
“Or are you being so reckless because you think I wouldn’t do anything to you, just because I’m your ‘sister’?” Lin Sui raised an eyebrow. “Don’t forget, I’m an Alpha. And although I’m your sister in name, we share no blood ties.”
Lin Sui felt she had made her point clear. Wen Xiangzhu was an outsider with no blood connection to the Lin family. If she didn’t start respecting boundaries, Lin Sui might have to resort to more forceful measures to drive her out.
She should at least show some restraint, Lin Sui thought.
With that, Lin Sui sighed in relief, tossed out a perfunctory “Get some rest,” and retreated to her room.
Wen Xiangzhu stood frozen in place, silently digesting the words that had just been spoken.
What does “no blood relation” mean?
Alphas and Omegas with no blood relation between them…
They’d agreed to meet at the amusement park at ten o’clock in the morning.
Lin Sui woke up at nine and casually pulled out a black outfit from her wardrobe to change into.
Her skin was naturally fair, and her hair jet black. Against the black outfit, these features stood out even more.
Just then, someone knocked on the door. Lin Sui went over and opened it to see Wen Xiangzhu standing there in her pajamas, peering at her cautiously.
“Sister, are you going out?”
Lin Sui hummed in acknowledgment.
Wen Xiangzhu pursed her lips but didn’t press further, turning and retreating back into her room.
******
After finishing getting ready, Lin Sui went downstairs.
The driver was already waiting by the car parked in front of the gate.
As she stepped out, the bright sunlight momentarily blinded her.
Ever since she was little, her skin had reacted badly to the sun. With the sun so strong today, maybe she should go back and grab an umbrella?
“Sister!”
Just as the thought crossed her mind, a voice interrupted her.
Wen Xiangzhu stood behind her, looking sweet and innocent in a white puffed-sleeved dress and carrying an elegant pink purse.
“Sister, I’m coming with you.”
Lin Sui frowned and turned to face her. “Do you even know where I’m going?”
“Of course! You’re going to the amusement park. I’m going there too. We’re going the same way,” Wen Xiangzhu said with a smile.
Lin Sui’s mind froze for a moment, wondering how Wen Xiangzhu had found out about her plans.
Just as she was debating whether to cancel, Wen Xiangzhu stepped up beside her, her hand brushing against Lin Sui’s arm—whether intentionally or not, it was hard to tell.
“Sister, let’s go,” she said.
Lin Sui glanced at her, her expression turning slightly scrutinizing.
After a moment, she steeled herself.
Fine, I’ll go. Otherwise it’ll look like I’m scared.
The two got in the car, the ride passing in silence.
Lin Sui, with the navigation app open on her phone, calculated the time and distance, then said, “Uncle Wang, let’s park on Wanshou Road.”
“Alright.”
The silence from the passenger seat felt unnatural, making Lin Sui uneasy. Even when Wen Xiangzhu was usually so quiet, she would never remain completely silent during such a long car ride.
Thinking this, Lin Sui turned to look at her.
Wen Xiangzhu was leaning back against the seat, her head tilted to look out the window, looking somewhat listless.
Lin Sui hesitated, then asked, “Are you feeling unwell?”
Wen Xiangzhu’s body stiffened slightly, then she slowly straightened up. “It’s nothing, just a little carsick.”
Lin Sui frowned. “Uncle Wang, is there any motion sickness medication in the car?”
“Um…” Uncle Wang pondered for a moment. “The Eldest Miss has never been carsick before, so I didn’t bring any medication.”
Lin Sui lowered her gaze slightly, her eyes resting on Wen Xiangzhu’s hand resting on the car seat.
She’s been with the Lin family for over a month now. How could they not know she gets carsick?
With this thought, Lin Sui checked the navigation on her phone. There were no pharmacies nearby, and buying medicine now would mean taking a detour.
Wen Xiangzhu seemed to sense her thoughts. “I’m okay,” she said softly. “I just need to get out of the car.”
Lin Sui glanced at her and abandoned the idea of detouring for medicine.
“Uncle Wang, after we leave, remember to buy some motion sickness tablets to keep on hand.”
“Don’t worry, Eldest Miss.”
Soon, the car pulled over onto Wanshou Road.
The bright sun blazed down on the road, which was completely devoid of shade trees.
Lin Sui pressed her lips together and stepped out of the car.
She hadn’t felt it inside, but now she could feel the heat rising around her.
Just as she was regretting coming out today, a faint fragrance filled the air, and the sunlight suddenly vanished from her face.
She froze, then saw Wen Xiangzhu holding a white umbrella, shielding her from the sun.
“You… brought an umbrella?”
Wen Xiangzhu smiled faintly. “You always need to be prepared when you go out.”
Her expression turned slightly troubled. “But I only brought one. If Sister doesn’t mind, we can share.”
Lin Sui looked away. “I don’t mind.”
She paused, then asked, “Are you feeling better?”
“Mm-hmm, much better.”
“That’s good,” Lin Sui said, taking the umbrella from Wen Xiangzhu. “I’ll take it.”
“Thank you, Sister!”
Lin Sui’s head was a little foggy. She just kept walking with her head down until she reached the amusement park gates, where she finally realized something was wrong.
If she and Wen Xiangzhu went in under the same umbrella, what was the point of getting out of the car early to avoid suspicion?
With that thought, Lin Sui took two steps back. “Okay, let’s split up here.”
As soon as she said it, she handed the umbrella back to Wen Xiangzhu. “You take it.”
Wen Xiangzhu turned to look at her, her eyes sparkling. “Sister should take it.”
Lin Sui frowned and pushed the umbrella forward again. “No, I insist. Here, take it.”
Just as she finished speaking, a familiar voice called out from behind.
“Sui Sui, darling!”
Zhu Huan jumped out of the car and ran over to Lin Sui. “It’s been so long! I’ve missed you so much!”
“Huh? Did you just buy that umbrella? I’ve never seen it before. It’s quite girly.”
Only then did Zhu Huan seem to notice Wen Xiangzhu’s presence.
“Oh, you’re here too, Sister! You look pretty today!”
Wen Xiangzhu forced an awkward smile. “Um… Sister, I’m going to head inside.”
“Okay.”
After Wen Xiangzhu had walked away, Lin Sui glared at Zhu Huan, her face stern. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but then thought better of it.
Zhu Huan has always been talkative. It’s not like this is news to me.
Whatever…
But there was one thing she needed to clarify. “How did Wen Xiangzhu know I was coming to the amusement park today? Who did you tell?”
Zhu Huan pondered for a moment. “I only told Lu Xiaomeng. She’s the vice-class monitor, and she’s organizing this whole thing…”
She paused, suddenly realizing what must have happened.
“Oh, I get it! Lu Xiaomeng must have told Wen Xiangzhu. They’re close friends.”
Lin Sui nodded. With that settled, she didn’t press the matter further.
Zhu Huan watched Wen Xiangzhu walk away, then turned to look at Lin Sui from head to toe. “You two are quite the pair, black and white. When did you get so close? And why are you dressed like sisters?”
Lin Sui: “……”
Not many classmates had come today—only seven in total, including two Omegas.
While the others went for thrilling rides, the two of them quietly went to play on the carousel.
By the end of the day, the group of seven had split into two separate pairs.
Inside a fast-food restaurant, Zhu Huan scrolled through her phone, frustrated. “They probably really aren’t checking their phones. Who knows where they’ve run off to? Let’s just eat and not worry about them.”
Lu Xiaomeng nodded. “We’ve pretty much done all the rides we want to do, right?”
Wen Xiangzhu sipped her milk tea, still holding a map of the amusement park.
“There’s still the Haunted House we haven’t been to.”
Lu Xiaomeng narrowed her eyes. “The Haunted House… Let’s skip that. It’s getting dark.”
But Zhu Huan was eager. “Let’s go! Why not?”
Lin Sui glanced at Wen Xiangzhu, but couldn’t tell what she was thinking. After a moment’s thought, she said, “Let’s go, then. Otherwise, we’ll have wasted the trip.”
She then glanced at Lu Xiaomeng. “If you two are scared…”
“We’re not scared!” Wen Xiangzhu said firmly, her eyes widening slightly.
As soon as she finished speaking, Lu Xiaomeng’s lips parted, and she stood frozen, dumbfounded.
“Wenwen?” Wen Xiangzhu turned to look at her. “Mengmeng, if you’re scared, you can wait for us outside.”
Lu Xiaomeng: “……?”
This isn’t what friends do! If I’m alone outside, I’ll be even more scared, okay?!
“I… no, I’m not scared. I’ll go with you,” Lu Xiaomeng forced a smile.
Seeing her plan to ditch Wen Xiangzhu fail, Lin Sui raised an eyebrow and sighed inwardly.
After finishing their meal, the group followed the map to the Haunted House.
It was a two-story Western-style building with cracked walls, covered in vines and cobwebs. True to its name, it looked sinister and eerie.
A staff member dressed in a rabbit mascot costume stood before the gate, its rabbit headpiece bobbing as it spoke in a strangely distorted voice: “Hello, are you five together?”
The words hung in the air, leaving the group momentarily stunned.
Five people? But there were only four of them here!
Lin Sui glanced around, but aside from the four of them and the rabbit mascot, no one else was in sight.
Just as her confusion peaked, something brushed against her hand.
Her heart skipped a beat, and she gasped inwardly, but she turned her head with practiced calmness.
Seeing Wen Xiangzhu had quietly scooted closer to her and accidentally bumped her hand, Lin Sui slowly exhaled the gasp she’d swallowed.
Honestly… I wasn’t scared at all!
“Sister Sui, I don’t see anyone else…” Wen Xiangzhu’s voice trembled.
Lu Xiaomeng, equally terrified, clutched Wen Xiangzhu’s hand so tightly she dared not let go.
Lin Sui snapped out of her daze, feeling a mix of exasperation and amusement. This mascot is clearly just messing with us, and look how terrified it’s made these two Omegas!
At this thought, she chuckled and looked at the rabbit mascot. “Five? Where are the five?”
The rabbit tilted its head and pointed at them. “One, two, three, four…”
Its finger quickly swept over Zhu Huan’s head and pointed into the air beside her. “Five children! Come in, all of you!”
“The Haunted House hasn’t had visitors in ages, especially ones as… ahem, as beautiful as you.”
The rabbit mascot continued talking to itself, pushing open the Haunted House’s door. “Welcome to the Haunted House! The young master is waiting for you on the second floor. But previous guests always got lost, so remember: keep turning right, always right!”
“Okay.”
Lin Sui tilted her head and glanced at the rabbit mascot. “We’ll definitely go left.”
The group: “?”
Wen Xiangzhu frowned, cautiously tugging at Lin Sui’s hand and whispering. “Sister, is this right?”
