After Mistakenly Marking Her Stunning Omega Stepsister - Chapter 57
“I’m not… I’m not pitying you.”
Lin Sui tightened her grip on Wen Xiangzhu’s hand. “I… I just…”
“Just what?”
Wen Xiangzhu looked down at her. “Don’t tell me you’re saying you can’t bear to part with me.”
“Yes, I can’t bear to part with you,” Lin Sui murmured, her eyelashes trembling.
Wen Xiangzhu scoffed. “Do I look that gullible?”
“I’m not lying!” Her smile pierced Lin Sui’s eyes. Flustered, she blurted out, “I really can’t bear to be without you. Can you let me explain?”
Wen Xiangzhu narrowed her eyes slightly, staring intently at Lin Sui as if trying to see through her.
After a long pause, she finally replied, “Fine, but I have nowhere to sit.”
Lin Sui froze for a moment, then sat up and pulled up a chair for her, keeping a firm grip on her hand the whole time, as if afraid she might run away.
Only when Wen Xiangzhu settled into the chair did Lin Sui feel slightly relieved.
“Go on, explain,” Wen Xiangzhu said coolly.
Lin Sui felt inexplicably nervous, her palms growing sweaty. Though she had so much she wanted to say, now that the moment had come, she didn’t know where to start.
Wen Xiangzhu’s brow furrowed slightly, growing impatient. “If you don’t say anything, I’m leaving.”
“I’ll say it!” Lin Sui pressed her lips together and blurted out, “I like you.”
Silence hung heavy in the dormitory for a long moment.
Wen Xiangzhu, who had been about to stand, froze mid-motion.
By the time Lin Sui realized what she’d said, there was no taking it back.
Lin Sui took a deep breath and repeated, “I mean it. I like you.”
After a moment, Wen Xiangzhu’s eyelashes fluttered as she looked up at Lin Sui, as if trying to find some clue on her face.
“You’re lying…”
“I’m not lying!” Lin Sui protested quickly. “Really, I don’t know when it started. I can’t put it into words… but seeing you ignore me now hurts. My heart feels twisted up in knots… You might not believe me saying this out of the blue, but it’s true!”
When she finished speaking, Wen Xiangzhu lowered her gaze and fell silent for a long moment.
“Why are you telling me this?”
“I… I want you to pay attention to me,” Lin Sui murmured, her voice sounding almost plaintive.
Wen Xiangzhu collected her thoughts.
Lin Sui was drunk now, speaking recklessly and half-heartedly. Wen Xiangzhu could only guide the conversation carefully…
“Then let me ask you something,” Wen Xiangzhu said, looking at her. “Why did you suddenly say those things last time?”
“That I was annoying you, always following you…”
“I’m sorry.” Lin Sui pressed her lips together. “That day… I misunderstood something.”
“What was it? Was it something to do with me?” Wen Xiangzhu asked.
“Yes.”
Drunk as she was, Lin Sui looked like a child who had done something wrong, utterly docile.
This was the first time Wen Xiangzhu had ever seen her like this.
“What was it?” Wen Xiangzhu asked patiently.
“I heard Jiang Qing say that you and Jiang Wanwan were together now.”
Lin Sui murmured, “I thought… it was real.”
“So that’s why you got angry with me that day?” Wen Xiangzhu paused, then chuckled softly.
“I’m sorry…” Lin Sui said guiltily. “I was confused that day. Just pretend I was crazy.”
“But…” Wen Xiangzhu looked at her for a moment. “Why are you telling me this now? Just to get my forgiveness?”
“I…” She paused, then shook her head. “I don’t know… But I want to be with you.”
“Be together?” Wen Xiangzhu repeated. “But you’re my sister.”
“So what!” Lin Sui exclaimed. “We’re not blood-related.”
As the words hung in the air, Wen Xiangzhu’s eyelashes fluttered. She suddenly remembered the last time Lin Sui had said something similar.
But the circumstances were completely different now.
Last time, Lin Sui had said those words with a threat in mind, hoping to keep Wen Xiangzhu in line and out of trouble.
But now, the words carried a different weight.
Wen Xiangzhu studied her for a moment, then abruptly stood up.
“That’s your feeling. I never said I felt the same way.”
Lin Sui looked puzzled.
Before she could say anything, Wen Xiangzhu added, “Anyway, we’ll see how you behave.”
She picked up the lemon tea on the table and handed it to Lin Sui.
“From now on, you can only drink water I buy.”
Stunned, Lin Sui instinctively took the lemon tea.
“What do you mean? That thing last time…”
“That wasn’t water I bought.”
Wen Xiangzhu glanced at her. “Get some rest. I’m leaving now.”
As Wen Xiangzhu was about to leave, Lin Sui suddenly felt she’d forgotten something and hurriedly called out to her.
“Um…” She hesitated for a moment. “Could you… take me off your blacklist?”
Wen Xiangzhu paused, then chuckled softly.
“Sure. Anything else?”
Lin Sui pursed her lips, thought for a moment, and asked, “So… what exactly is our relationship now?”
Wen Xiangzhu chuckled again.
“Sisterhood, of course.”
“Ah…”
Lin Sui lowered her gaze, a hint of disappointment in her eyes.
Then Wen Xiangzhu added, “We’re sisters for now, but what happens in the future depends on your actions.”
With that, she opened the dormitory door and left.
Lin Sui stared blankly at the lemon tea in her hands, then at the suddenly empty dormitory.
After a moment of thought, her expression lightened, and she took a sip of the tea.
Bittersweet.
After a while, the dormitory door opened again.
Zhu Huan entered with Xia Yi and Ye Shuqian, heading straight for Lin Sui.
“So? How did the talk go?”
“Did you make any progress?”
“What progress? You should be asking if she forgave you.”
“Right…”
The three of them chattered excitedly, their rapid-fire questions giving Lin Sui a headache.
She sighed silently. “I think she forgave me.”
“Spill! We’ll help you strategize!” Zhu Huan declared. “We’re your advisors—your strategists!”
Though a little speechless, Lin Sui recounted what had just transpired.
The three were surprised. “I never expected you to go straight for it! You actually confessed right out?!”
“No…”
Lin Sui’s lips twitched. To be honest, she regretted it a little. “I was flustered, and I’d been drinking. My head was spinning.”
“Okay, okay, if you say so,” Xia Yi chuckled. “Now, since you’ve made your move, you need to follow through! Here’s the plan: you just… follow her! She liked you before because you were always around her, right? So now you follow her! Make her understand your feelings, and win over her roommates too. Dress like her…”

“Isn’t that just creepy? Can you even teach this stuff?! Single people like you should stay out of it!” Zhu Huan said, laughing in exasperation.
“Huh? Wasn’t Wenwen just like that before? Why is it fine when she does it, but creepy when Lin Sui does it?” Xia Yi retorted, refusing to back down.
“Ouch, Grandma! This is different!”
Zhu Huan felt her heart tighten. “Listen, when it comes to chasing Omegas, you have to listen to me. I have experience!”
“You… you’re right. You do have experience.”
Xia Yi reluctantly conceded, but as a single person herself, she silently bit her handkerchief in frustration.
That evening, Lin Sui, still slightly tipsy, attentively listened to “Zhu, the Dating Guru, Huan” deliver a thorough lesson. She left feeling enlightened.
The next morning, she bought breakfast and staked out the lobby of Building 3.
Thanks to the sports meet incident, Lin Sui had become somewhat of a campus celebrity. Everyone knew her, especially the Omegas.
Some of her admirers smiled and whispered among themselves upon seeing her there, but none dared to approach.
Lin Sui remained focused, scanning the figures emerging from the building. After a long wait, Wen Xiangzhu finally appeared, walking alongside Lu Xiaomeng.
The two women also noticed her, hesitated briefly, and then Lu Xiaomeng left first.
Wen Xiangzhu approached and asked, “What are you doing here?”
“Waiting for you,” Lin Sui replied softly, then handed her the small bag she was carrying. “There’s cake and milk—breakfast for you.”
Wen Xiangzhu paused, a faint smile appearing on her face as she took the bag. “Well, then, I won’t be rude.”
Several Omegas nearby who had been watching the scene openly displayed their envy.
“Who’s that Omega? How can she be so lucky?!”
“It seems to be the ‘little sister’ Lin Sui mentioned.”
“Really? Are they actually sisters?!”
“No way, their surnames are different… But either way, I’m jealous. Even if they’re not blood sisters, Wen Xiangzhu has already entered the Lin Corporation fold. Her future is definitely smooth sailing. People like us can’t compare.”
“Yeah… and Lin Sui is so good to her.”
“……”
The group sighed quietly, finding the situation pointless, and drifted away.
The morning routine of buying breakfast and picking up Zhu Huan from school was still being handled by Wen Xiangzhu.
It seemed Wen Xiangzhu was in a good mood; the plan was working.
Lin Sui breathed a sigh of relief. During class, she stared at the back of Wen Xiangzhu’s head, feeling drowsy again.
Drinking really wore her out. She still needed more sleep.
The bell rang, signaling the end of class, waking her up.
Even though class was over, the teacher at the podium continued lecturing incessantly.
Lin Sui stretched lazily, glanced at Zhu Huan, who was still sleeping beside her, and pulled out her phone.
A new post had appeared on the forum: [ (Fanfic) The Lin Corporation Heiress and Her Adopted Sister! (Pseudo-Bones! Read at Your Own Risk!) ].
It seemed quite popular.
Lin Sui raised an eyebrow and, out of curiosity, clicked through.
True to its title, it was a fanfic written by someone—perhaps the poster themselves.
A large crowd had already gathered below, eagerly discussing the sports meet and getting into heated debates.
Lin Sui never imagined she’d have such a devoted fanbase, even before she’d graduated from high school.
After scrolling through all the posts, she impulsively clicked “share” and sent the thread to Wen Xiangzhu.
After sending it, Lin Sui lingered in the chat window with Wen Xiangzhu, staring at the nickname she’d given her. Something felt off.
After a moment’s thought, Lin Sui opened Wen Xiangzhu’s profile and noticed that she’d changed her username at some point. It used to be “Hidden,” but now it was “Not Hiding.”
Lin Sui frowned, trying to decipher the meaning behind the change, but couldn’t figure it out. She shrugged it off and, after some deliberation, finally changed Wen Xiangzhu’s nickname to “Sweetheart.”
Well, I’m being quite romantic today, she thought.
When Teacher finally dismissed class, Wen Xiangzhu lowered her head and saw the post Lin Sui had shared.
After a long while, Lin Sui received a reply.
[Sweetheart: Not bad.]
