After Mistakenly Marking Her Stunning Omega Stepsister - Chapter 58
Every afternoon, Wen Xiangzhu still went to the gym to practice tennis.
This was probably her only real hobby amidst her otherwise tedious studies.
For several days, Lin Sui paid no attention, even dozing off in class.
With five minutes left before school ended, Zhu Huan, frustrated by Lin Sui’s carefree attitude, shook her awake.
“Darling, how can you sleep through this?!”
Lin Sui frowned, still half-asleep, mumbling:
“Why can’t I sleep?”
“What? Did he come back? Did you finally get your girlfriend?”
Zhu Huan stared at her in exasperation. “You’re sleeping soundly while your girlfriend is still training at the gym! Throat dry! Oh wait, you don’t have a girlfriend yet. But who knows whose girlfriend she’ll end up being in the end?”
Lin Sui processed Zhu Huan’s words, slowly sitting up as her mind cleared.
“What do you mean?”
“Exactly what I said.”
Zhu Huan chuckled, tidied her backpack, and said, “I’m going to buy a hot milk tea, then pick up En’en from the gym for dinner. As for you… do whatever you want! If you don’t go pick her up, don’t blame anyone if someone else takes her.”
Lin Sui: “……”
Why did those words make her so angry?
In no time, Lin Sui snapped out of it and hurriedly gathered her things.
When the bell rang, she left the classroom with Zhu Huan and headed downstairs.
“Where are you buying the milk tea?”
“At the school gate,” Zhu Huan replied. “The tennis team practice ends fifteen minutes after our class, so we have time.”
Lin Sui paused, then quickened her pace.
But when it came to choosing a flavor, she was stumped.
She’d never noticed there were so many flavors before. She always just got the original.
After staring at the options for a while, she suddenly remembered the faint strawberry scent that clung to Wen Xiangzhu.
Maybe she’d like strawberry.
Lin Sui finished buying the bubble tea and walked to the gym with Zhu Huan.
They arrived just in time.
Wen Xiangzhu came out with Xu Nianen.
When she saw Zhu Huan, she paused for a moment, then turned to say something to Xu Nianen before jogging over.
“Tired?” Zhu Huan asked with a smile, casually inserting the straw into the bubble tea and handing it to Xu Nianen.
“Not too bad,” Xu Nianen replied, taking a sip. “I don’t know what’s up with our coach today. He seemed in a bad mood and really worked us hard.”
“It’s fine. Just rest up. What do you want to eat?” Zhu Huan asked.
“Whatever’s fine. You decide.”
“Alright.”
Zhu Huan turned to Lin Sui. “I’m off. Good luck.”
Lin Sui watched the two walk away side by side, their figures gradually fading into the distance. She pursed her lips, her gaze shifting to Wen Xiangzhu, who still stood rooted to the spot nearby.
After a moment’s hesitation, Lin Sui approached Wen Xiangzhu. Mimicking Zhu Huan’s earlier gesture, she inserted the straw into the milk tea and offered it forward. “Are you tired?”
Wen Xiangzhu didn’t immediately take the drink, her gaze shifting between the milk tea and Lin Sui’s face. Her expression was complex, yet a faint smile lingered.
“Tired? What do you want me to do about it?” she asked, finally taking the drink.
Lin Sui fell silent.
But Xu Nianen didn’t answer like that just now.
What do I do? I don’t know what to do.
Teacher never taught us how to handle this!
Lin Sui forced a smile. “Then… make sure you get a good night’s rest.”
“Is that all?” Wen Xiangzhu raised an eyebrow, a teasing glint in her eyes.
“What were you expecting me to…”
Realizing she might have gone too far, Lin Sui paused and corrected herself. “What do you think would be appropriate?”
“What do I think?”
Wen Xiangzhu blinked, took a sip of the milk tea, and replied, “This is fine.”
Lin Sui: “……?”
She stood frozen, unsure how to continue after that response.
Noticing her awkwardness, Wen Xiangzhu sighed in exasperation. “I’m hungry.”
“Huh?”
Lin Sui blinked in surprise. “Then let’s go eat. What do you want to eat?”
“Hmm… let’s go to that restaurant you took me to before.”
“Okay.”
The two arrived at the restaurant, and Wen Xiangzhu ordered the food as usual.
While they waited for their dishes, Wen Xiangzhu stared at Lin Sui, as if trying to burn a hole through her with her gaze. She remained silent.
Lin Sui felt a little uncomfortable.
“Why are you staring at me like that?”
“I just want to see what you’re really thinking,” Wen Xiangzhu said, blinking. “You didn’t come to pick me up the other day, but now you suddenly remembered to come today? Why?”
“It just… suddenly came to me,” Lin Sui replied after a pause.
“Is that so?” Wen Xiangzhu sighed. “Do you know how I felt watching Zhu Huan take Xu Nianen away every day these past few days?”
Lin Sui lowered her head and was silent for a moment.
“I’m sorry.”
“Why are you apologizing?”
“I just feel like I should apologize,” Lin Sui said, squeezing her cup. “I didn’t think about how you might feel.”
Wen Xiangzhu watched her for a moment, then leaned closer.
“Sister, you’re so different from before.”
“Huh?” Lin Sui blinked. “How am I different?”
“Everything,” Wen Xiangzhu said, thinking for a moment. “Even the way you treat me is different. You used to hate me.”
“No.”
Lin Sui pressed her lips together and quickly corrected herself. “I never hated you.”
“You always say that, but every time you do things that show you hate me,” Wen Xiangzhu said, her voice tinged with resentment.
“No, that’s not true…” Lin Sui said, sounding flustered. “I really don’t hate you. Do you remember the first time you came to my room at home and asked me on the balcony?”
Wen Xiangzhu thought for a moment, then nodded. “You did ask me.”
“I told you then that I don’t hate you. I never have.” Lin Sui paused. “Now… I like you.”
With that, she fell silent, watching Wen Xiangzhu’s reaction.
The latter remained quiet, simply gazing at her.
“Why do you like me?” Wen Xiangzhu finally asked after a long pause.
“Because I do,” Lin Sui replied, pursing her lips. “I like everything about you—your voice, your looks, your personality, even your scent… I like it all.”
“Excuse me.”
Suddenly, a waiter’s voice came from beside them. “Here’s your dish.”
“Ah, okay.”
Lin Sui’s expression froze momentarily before she nodded.
Did the waiter hear everything I just said?! She wanted to find a crack in the floor to crawl into.
Her ears flushed crimson, and she secretly peeked at the waiter’s expression. Seeing nothing amiss, she nervously withdrew her gaze.
Throughout this, Wen Xiangzhu’s gaze remained fixed on her, never wavering even for a moment.
Noticing her flushed ears, Wen Xiangzhu let out a soft chuckle.
“What’s so funny?” Lin Sui asked, startled.
As the waiter left, Wen Xiangzhu murmured, “I’m laughing because you’ve changed, but not completely.”
Changed, yet not completely…
Lin Sui’s mind wandered during the meal. When they finally finished and left the restaurant, she found herself reluctant to return to school. She wanted to stay with Wen Xiangzhu—just the two of them, alone.
“I have to participate in the League next week,” Wen Xiangzhu suddenly said.
“I’ll take you!” Lin Sui blurted out.
“Such enthusiasm?” Wen Xiangzhu glanced at her. After a pause, she added with a wry smile, “Well… it’s only natural.”
Wen Xiangzhu blinked, falling silent for a long moment. Then, as if struck by a sudden idea, she declared, “Let’s skip class.”
Lin Sui stared blankly, momentarily stunned. “What?”
“I said, let’s skip class,” Wen Xiangzhu repeated.
Lin Sui’s eyelashes fluttered, and for a moment, she froze. Could this really be the words of a top student, the class valedictorian?
“Okay…” Lin Sui pressed her dry lips together and agreed without thinking. “Where do you want to go?”
“The Jiangjiangmao Internet Café,” Wen Xiangzhu answered, already striding in that direction. “Teach me how to play games.”
Surprised, Lin Sui hurried after her.
“You want to play games?”
“If you can play, why can’t I?”
As she spoke, Wen Xiangzhu glanced at Lin Sui.
“I can…”
Suppressing her doubts, Lin Sui followed Wen Xiangzhu to the café counter.
“Two computers,” Wen Xiangzhu said. “And a private room.”
Lin Sui paused, instinctively glancing at Wen Xiangzhu. The Omega’s composed demeanor was a stark contrast to her flustered state during their first visit.
“Okay,” Lin Sui nodded. “A double private room.”
“Coming right up.”
Before entering the private room, they bought some snacks and drinks.
Once inside, the noisy café atmosphere was shut out, leaving only silence.
Wen Xiangzhu didn’t immediately sit down, instead pacing around to inspect the room.
“There shouldn’t be any cameras here, right?”
Lin Sui frowned, scanning the room at this unexpected question.
“No.”
“That’s good.”
Wen Xiangzhu nodded in satisfaction, settling into the gaming chair. She then beckoned Lin Sui over.
“What does this mean?” Lin Sui asked, hesitating before approaching with suspicion.
“Nothing,” Wen Xiangzhu replied with a smile. “Lin Sui…”
Lin Sui’s body stiffened at the sound of her full name. It was the first time Wen Xiangzhu had addressed her this way, and she felt oddly unaccustomed to it.
Wen Xiangzhu had always called her “Sister” before.
Wen Xiangzhu watched her reaction, tilting her head.
“I remember you said not to call you ‘Sister’ at school.”
Lin Sui: “……”
She finally realized what was going on.
Are Omegas this vengeful?
“No way. You have to call me that. I like it.”
Unwilling to back down, Lin Sui walked over and sat down in another gaming chair.
“Why should I? You’ve never called me ‘Sister’ before.”
Wen Xiangzhu spun her chair around with a huff.
Lin Sui’s eyebrow twitched.
“I’m older than you.”
“So what?”
Wen Xiangzhu seemed completely unflappable.
After a moment of silence, as if struck by a sudden idea, Lin Sui grabbed Wen Xiangzhu’s wrist and yanked her onto her lap.
With a gasp, Wen Xiangzhu’s eyes widened in shock. She began to struggle slightly. “Wh-what are you doing?”
“Nothing.” Lin Sui’s playful mood surged. “Lean in and call me ‘Sister,’ and I’ll let you go.”
Wen Xiangzhu: “?”
Wen Xiangzhu was stunned by Lin Sui’s shamelessness.
“I won’t. Let go.”
“Then I won’t.”
Lin Sui chuckled. “You can stay on my lap then.”
Wen Xiangzhu burned with shame and anger, her small face flushing crimson.
“Lin Sui, you’re so shameless!”
“So what if I am? What can you do about it?”
Lin Sui’s eyes twinkled with amusement as she adjusted her position, pressing her palm against Wen Xiangzhu’s neck and gently pressing down.
Only when Wen Xiangzhu’s warm, rapid breaths puffed against her ear did Lin Sui whisper softly:
“Why don’t you hit me? Just let out your anger. Stop tormenting me.”
The woman in her arms suddenly fell silent.
After a moment, a delicate snort reached her ear: “How can I be sure you’re not just teasing me?”
“Wen Xiangzhu, I swear to heaven and earth, I’m not lying… What do you want me to do to prove it?”
Lin Sui gently released her grip.
Wen Xiangzhu propped herself up on Lin Sui’s shoulders, her hair slightly disheveled from their earlier tussle.
She blinked, her long lashes framing eyes that flickered as they lingered on Lin Sui’s face before finally settling on her lips.
“Then kiss me.”
Wen Xiangzhu paused. “Kiss me, and I’ll believe you.”
“You… really mean that?”
Lin Sui hesitated. Their only previous kiss had occurred when she was half-conscious, and Wen Xiangzhu had taken the initiative.
But now…
“I really mean it.”
Wen Xiangzhu lowered her gaze and whispered, “Kiss me, and I’ll reluctantly call you ‘Sister’.”
“You still call it ‘reluctantly’…”
Lin Sui’s eyes narrowed slightly as she reached out and gripped the back of Wen Xiangzhu’s neck again. Her fingers brushed against the slightly curled edges of the Blocker Patch before pressing down to cover those soft lips.
She tilted her head slightly, savoring the soft, warm sensation of their lips touching.
Strangely, she felt a sudden dryness in her mouth, like a traveler in the desert who had finally found a few drops of morning dew after a long journey. She resisted the urge to drink greedily, taking only a shallow taste.
This was sweet dew, reserved solely for her.
