After Marrying the Evil God - Chapter 15
“Love you, Chouzhuan!” Shi Zhi hurriedly took the talisman. “How much? I’ll transfer the money to you.”
Xie Chouzhuan thought for a moment. “Just give me five hundred.”
Shi Zhi immediately transferred the five hundred yuan.
After a long day of upheaval, Xie Chouzhuan washed up and went to sleep. In that hazy state between wakefulness and dreams, he felt something brush against his ankle. He jolted awake in fright, sitting up abruptly.
“Mm, what’s wrong?” Shi Zhi was woken by the movement and sat up, rubbing his eyes blearily.
“It’s… it’s nothing.” Xie Chouzhuan gritted his teeth. He reached down to pull away the black mist that was coiling around him, but the moment his fingers touched it, the mist seemed to grow excited and entangled his hand as well.
“Then I’m going back to sleep,” Shi Zhi said, falling back onto his bed like a log.
Xie Chouzhuan remained in a stalemate with the black mist. Before long, the sound of Shi Zhi’s steady breathing drifted over from the opposite bed.
“Stop messing around,” Xie Chouzhuan whispered, his face flushing crimson as he realized the black mist was steadily creeping upward along the inside of his thigh.
He hadn’t expected Ji Sixian’s “evil thoughts” to be so bold as to act so wantonly in a dormitory. Previously, Ji Sixian had seemed like such a gentleman—how could his dark side be so… so… lecherous?
A wisp of black mist was just about to slip past the edge of his underwear when, in the next second, it froze.
Xie Chouzhuan, in the midst of his flustered struggle, felt his back press against a solid, firm chest.
“Brother… why are you here?” Xie Chouzhuan turned his head in a hurry to look at Ji Sixian.
“Don’t worry, only you can see me,” Ji Sixian said, taking Xie Chouzhuan’s hand.
“Hurry up and tell your evil thoughts to… stop grabbing at me,” Xie Chouzhuan whispered.
Even though the “evil thoughts” had stopped moving once Ji Sixian appeared, they were still draped all over his body.
Ji Sixian let out a low chuckle. “It likes you, so it wants to be close to you. Just like I do.”
“You rogue!” Xie Chouzhuan’s face turned even redder with anger. He didn’t control his volume well and immediately covered his mouth in fear, but fortunately, Shi Zhi only turned over and stayed asleep.
Looking at Xie Chouzhuan’s adorable reaction, Ji Sixian’s eyes softened as he leaned in to kiss his forehead. “I’m sorry. I can’t fully control it yet.”
Xie Chouzhuan’s blush deepened. “You… you…”
“What’s wrong? I’m not allowed to kiss my own fiancé?” Ji Sixian teased him on purpose.
Xie Chouzhuan turned his head and gave Ji Sixian a frantic, random kiss. “It’s not that you’re not allowed.”
Ji Sixian’s eyes lit up instantly. “I’m very happy. Can I have another one?”
Xie Chouzhuan felt as if he had turned into water. He slid down into the blankets in a flash, leaving only a muffled voice behind: “I’m going to sleep!”
Ji Sixian dug him out from under the covers and kissed his glowing cheek once more. “Sleep well.”
It was a night of pleasant dreams.
Xie Chouzhuan slept until broad daylight. When he woke up, he found Shi Zhi putting on his shoes quietly.
“You’re awake? I’m going to go buy breakfast. What do you want? I’ll bring a portion back for you.”
“Just the same as whatever you’re having.”
“Sure. By the way, Chouzhuan, were you on the phone last night? I thought I heard someone else’s voice.”
Xie Chouzhuan froze instantly. Forcing himself to stay calm, he explained, “No, I wasn’t. You probably misheard.”
Shi Zhi nodded, not giving it much thought. “Oh, okay. I’m heading to the cafeteria first. We have a class meeting in the teaching building at nine. I’ve already added you to the group chat.”
“Alright.”
After eating breakfast, Xie Chouzhuan and Shi Zhi took the shuttle bus to the teaching building. By the time they arrived, most of the students were already there.
The counselor was a man in his twenties named Guan Yi. He began by briefly introducing the school’s specific situation, followed by self-introductions from the students.
Military training was set to begin tomorrow morning for a duration of two weeks. Just as Chen Shu had said, students were required to live on campus during this period. Any student seeking an exemption needed to provide a medical certificate from a Grade II Class A hospital or higher, along with medical records, test reports, and other relevant materials.
“Chouzhuan, are you participating in the training?” Shi Zhi whispered.
“Yes.”
“I heard from the upperclassmen that Hua University’s training is brutal. Two weeks under this scorching sun… it’s going to be so hard to endure.”
Guan Yi, standing on the podium, glanced in their direction, and Shi Zhi immediately shut his mouth.
After the meeting ended, Guan Yi asked Xie Chouzhuan to stay behind. He had also heard about the incident that occurred on the first day of school.
“Are you getting used to the new dorm? How is the roommate? Easy to get along with?”
“Everything is great, thank you, Counselor.”
“That’s good.” Guan Yi nodded, appearing to hesitate.
“Is there something else you wanted to say?”
“I heard that Tao Beizhi’s mother has arrived. She’s been hanging around the school gates lately. I hear she has a bad temper; you should avoid her if you can.”
Xie Chouzhuan was somewhat surprised. He hadn’t expected that as soon as Tao Cong left, another one would show up.
“I understand.”
“Good, as long as you’re aware. That’s all, you can head back now,” Guan Yi waved him off.
As Xie Chouzhuan stepped out of the office, he saw Shi Zhi crouching nearby.
“Did the counselor talk to you about what happened on opening day?”
Xie Chouzhuan nodded. “He said Tao Beizhi’s mother is here.”
“Gosh, is his family insane? It’s never-ending! You’ll have to be really careful these next few days. I heard his mother is from the countryside and is incredibly aggressive. Back in high school, she slapped Tao Beizhi’s girlfriend so hard she suffered facial nerve damage—the girl’s face ended up paralyzed.”
“How do you know so much about her?”
“I’m in the paranormal circles, remember? I hear a bit of every kind of gossip. And do you know what the worst part was? That girl was actually a top student in the class with a chance at a first-tier university. Just because she was pretty, Tao Beizhi took an interest in her and forced her to be his girlfriend. When she refused, he coordinated the whole class to bully her.
“Then, Tao Beizhi’s mom got some second-hand information from somewhere and thought the girl was seducing her son at school. Without even asking for the facts, she stormed in there. One slap and that girl’s facial nerves were damaged; her mouth and eyes are still crooked to this day, and she has a speech impediment. A perfectly good family was ruined just like that, and in the end, the Tao family only paid a hundred thousand yuan in compensation.” Shi Zhi was fuming with rage.
“The video of the assault was blocked as soon as it gained a little traction. Tao Beizhi just switched schools and continued his studies without any impact at all. This time, you had her son detained. If she catches you, she’ll definitely try to hurt you.”
Xie Chouzhuan fell silent. He hadn’t realized the sins committed by the Tao family were far greater than he had imagined.
A few students walked by, looking at Xie Chouzhuan with strange expressions. After a moment of hesitation, one stepped forward. “Student Xie, Tao Beizhi’s mother has bribed some students to report on your movements. You’d better be careful lately.”
“Thank you, I understand.”
“It’s nothing. I just can’t stand the way the Tao family acts.”
“Damn, is that woman a psycho? She’s really fixated on you!” Shi Zhi cursed.
Xie Chouzhuan thought for a moment and sent a message to Liu Ci: [Brother Ci, do you have any talismans that can make someone unlucky?]
Liu Ci: [What do you want that for?]
Xie Chouzhuan: [Tao Beizhi’s mother is at the school, and she’s bribing people to track me.]
Liu Ci: [Understood! I’ll arrange a reinforced ‘Bad Luck Talisman’ for you immediately. I guarantee she’ll be unlucky every single day! Every single moment!!!]
