After Marrying the Evil God - Chapter 16
Liu Ci simply told Xie Chouzhuan to go about his business and leave everything else to him.
Inside a car parked near Hua University, Madam Tao was scrolling through her phone with a look of extreme irritation.
“Can that little brat really stay inside the school forever? It’s like I’ve seen a ghost!”
“Madam, will the Master have an issue with you doing this? After all, what the Young Master did before…”
Madam Tao gritted her teeth. “That bastard Tao Cong he’s probably already planning to give up on Beizhi. He spends every day visiting those little harlots of his!”
“Madam, this is Hua University, after all. If things escalate and the media catches wind, it will definitely affect the company’s image. If that happens, the Master might…”
“I can’t accept this! Beizhi is my child. He just played a little joke on that brat—it was a total overreaction to blow it up on the internet! If I don’t give him a lesson, my name isn’t Zhang Cuilian!”
“I have a word of advice, though I don’t know if I should say it?”
“Speak!”
“The Young Master has done a lot of reckless things over the years, and now he’s even been detained. If he inherits the company later and the media digs deep, it will be a corporate scandal. The Master likely won’t hand the company over to him.”
“If not to him, then to whom?! One of those bastards?!”
“Madam, don’t be anxious! Think about it! No matter who inherits the company, you are President Tao’s wife; that is an unchangeable fact. As long as you don’t make a mistake, President Tao definitely won’t divorce you easily. Firstly, he has always felt guilty toward you; secondly, for a big entrepreneur like him, a sudden divorce would be a massive blow to the company. You only need to take control of those illegitimate sons. Bring them under your name as adopted sons; it would be no different from your own biological son inheriting the company.”
Madam Tao’s expression softened slightly. “Those bastards are already grown; I’m afraid they can’t be tamed.”
“Why worry about that, Madam? An ‘adopted son’ sounds much better than an ‘illegitimate son.’ If an illegitimate son inherits the company, what would outsiders think? An adopted son is different; the title is more respectable. If those illegitimate sons have ambition, they’ll naturally know which side to choose. The reason the Master is unwilling to give up on the Young Master is likely because he’s considering these factors. If you propose this yourself, not only will it increase the Master’s guilt toward you, but it will also secure your position as the President’s wife. Since the Young Master is the Master’s biological flesh and blood, and has your support, he won’t be mistreated regardless.”
Madam Tao rubbed the space between her eyebrows. “Beizhi really isn’t cut out for business he’s arrogant, domineering, and short-tempered. Why is my life so hard! Those illegitimate sons, on the other hand, are each more capable than the last. If only they were actually mine.”
“Madam, having them transferred to your name is no different from being biological.”
“I… I need to think about it.”
The secretary tactfully fell silent. Having followed Madam Tao for so long, she knew that saying “I need to think about it” meant she was already tempted.
Madam Tao remained silent for a long time, a struggle flashing in her eyes before she finally steeled herself. “The car is too stuffy. I’m going for a walk.”
The moment Madam Tao stepped out of the car, disaster struck. She stepped directly onto a nut shell, her foot slipped, and in her panic, she instinctively reached out to grab a nearby stone bollard.
The next second.
CRACK Madam Tao’s hand hung limp at a grotesque, unnatural angle.
“AHHHH!” The intense pain caused Madam Tao to wail in agony.
“Madam!” Seeing Madam Tao fall, the secretary rushed out of the car to help. However, in the next second, she too stepped on a nut shell.
She lunged forward, falling directly toward Madam Tao.
THUD— Madam Tao was knocked over, her head slamming against the stone bollard. Blood began to flow like a river.
The two were a tangled, miserable mess on the ground. Eventually, passing students called an ambulance to haul them away.
“Chouzhuan, Chouzhuan! The old hag got her karma!” Shi Zhi shouted, having just discovered the news on the forum.
Seeing Madam Tao’s pathetic state in the video, Xie Chouzhuan finally felt a sense of relief. He picked up his phone and sent a thank-you message to Liu Ci.
In truth, Liu Ci himself was surprised. Although the talisman he drew was reinforced, it shouldn’t have been that powerful. He was shocked to see Madam Tao suffer one accident after another. It could only be said that Madam Tao had committed too many sins; once the Bad Luck Talisman was attached, the effects were exceptionally pronounced.
With Madam Tao severely injured, she wouldn’t be bothering him for a while. Xie Chouzhuan finally began his university life in peace.
The instructor for their major’s military training was a very young man. The training wasn’t overly strict, and he even specifically found a shaded spot for them. Despite this, after a week of training, Xie Chouzhuan suffered a muscle strain. He and Shi Zhi, a pair of miserable brothers, walked along hobbling and supporting each other.
Hua University’s military training program was very rich, including drills, military boxing, orienteering, camping marches, and light weapons shooting. Simultaneously, they underwent training in battlefield self-rescue and mutual rescue, CPR practice, fire drills, and ceremonial reviews.
Xie Chouzhuan was essentially falling asleep the moment he hit the bed every day. Ji Sixian hadn’t visited during these days, which caused him to completely forget about his own wedding.
One night after military training ended, Xie Chouzhuan vaguely heard the sound of gongs, drums, and the blowing of suona (traditional trumpets). The sound grew closer and closer. Xie Chouzhuan struggled to open his eyes, only to see a paper effigy directly above him, its hollow eyes staring straight down at him.
Xie Chouzhuan broke into a cold sweat. In the next second, he felt himself lose control of his body as he got out of bed and walked toward the balcony.
The paper effigy from just moments ago transformed into his likeness and lay down in his bed, even carefully tucking itself under the covers.
Xie Chouzhuan walked uncontrollably into a bridal sedan chair, and then felt his entire body rise into the air.
Panicked, he reached out to grab something. In the next second, he caught a slightly cool hand.
Xie Chouzhuan turned his head and found that Ji Sixian had appeared inside the sedan at some unknown moment. He was dressed in a red wedding robe today—vibrant, assertive, and looking like a painting.
“Don’t be afraid,” Ji Sixian said reassuringly, patting his hand before vanishing again.
Seeing it was Ji Sixian, Xie Chouzhuan actually felt a sense of relief. Then he remembered: this was his wedding. Xie Chouzhuan panicked—what was he supposed to do? What were the steps again? Bowing to Heaven and Earth, drinking the nuptial wine, and then… ahhh!
Xie Chouzhuan forcibly pushed the final thoughts out of his mind.
While his thoughts were racing, the sedan chair came to a stop. Ji Sixian lifted the curtain and looked at him gently. “The one-month period is up. I have come to marry you.”
Xie Chouzhuan placed his hand in Ji Sixian’s. In a blur, he found himself standing inside a massive palace, dressed in wedding robes. Ji Sixian stood beside him.
The ceiling of the palace was adorned with countless night pearls, and red silk fluttered lightly in the wind.
“Brother, where are we?” Xie Chouzhuan asked, surveying his surroundings.
“My palace.”
“Is this the Celestial Realm?” Xie Chouzhuan asked curiously.
“No. This place exists within the Chaos, transcending the boundaries of the Immortal Realm.”
Xie Chouzhuan was a bit confused. “Aren’t you a righteous god of the Immortal Realm?”
Ji Sixian explained calmly, “I am different from other gods. Although I am a righteous god, I am not under the jurisdiction of the Immortal Realm.”
