After Marrying the Cold Omega in Secret - Chapter 49
Just as Chu Jin was still deep in thought, her phone rang several times.
It was a message from her assistant, Feng Peier.
Since Chu Jin had joined the reality show and had no other work commitments at the time, they had barely kept in touch. At most, Feng Peier would occasionally send her reports summarizing her popularity, online exposure, and social media engagement.
Chu Jin had reviewed a few of those reports during her downtime. The data was clearly presented, identifying not only current challenges but also proposing future development strategies.
Feng Peier was, without a doubt, very capable.
Aside from the variety show, this was the second official job Chu Jin had received.
It was also a crucial stepping stone for her career.
Feng Peier first sent over a brief synopsis of the drama, along with the script section that Chu Jin needed to prepare for the audition.
At the top of the document was the title of the show: “Addicted.”
The name sounded quite lighthearted. Based on the title alone, Chu Jin assumed it would be a gentle and sweet romance, probably focused on youthful emotions and innocent love. She thought it might be about two people slowly falling for each other in a pure and beautiful relationship.
However, the reality turned out to be very different.
The drama was more like a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Chu Jin quickly skimmed through the main storyline.
The female lead, Wen Qin, was a wealthy heiress known for her charm and flirtatious personality. After being cheated on by her ex-girlfriend, she went to a bar to drink away her sorrows. There, she had a drunken one-night stand with the second female lead, Shen Huai, who was also intoxicated.
The next morning, Wen Qin casually handed Shen Huai some money and left without looking back.
But fate kept bringing them together. The two women ran into each other again and again, and with each meeting, they ended up in bed once more.
Wen Qin found Shen Huai enjoyable and proposed to keep her as a mistress.
Shen Huai agreed.
From there, the two became entangled in a relationship filled with secretive passion and mutual obsession.
They started with physical intimacy and left traces of each other in every place and at every moment. Their incredible physical compatibility made them increasingly dependent on one another, until emotional attachment followed and they both fell deeply in love.
But Wen Qin was eventually pressured by her family into an arranged marriage with the daughter of another powerful family. Despite her reluctance, her parents forced her to break things off with Shen Huai.
When Shen Huai learned the truth, she left heartbroken and full of resentment.
It was not until much later that Wen Qin discovered the poor girl she had been supporting all along was actually the person she was supposed to marry.
By then, Shen Huai was already filled with hatred toward her, and the cycle of entanglement began again.
The synopsis ended with one final line:
“A love story twisted with obsession and resentment, a modern epic of desire and heartbreak. Is it love, or is it possession? Where will their story lead?”
Chu Jin’s first reaction after reading was simple.
It was incredibly melodramatic.
Still, it fit the current trends. The more outrageous and emotionally intense the story, the more viewers it attracted.
There were plenty of audiences who loved turning off their minds and getting swept up in this kind of drama.
And most importantly, the director was Su Chenxiao.
She was known for her exceptional visual storytelling. Even cliché scripts became visually stunning and emotionally compelling in her hands.
So despite the over-the-top storyline, Chu Jin trusted that this drama would be anything but ordinary.
Of course, the plot still completely overturned her original expectations. She had imagined a soft and healing love story. What she got instead was a mature, provocative relationship drama.
Just reading the synopsis made it clear that there would be many intimate scenes.
Phrases like “any time” and “any place” left very little to the imagination. Just thinking about it felt bold and daring.
The next file was the specific scene she would be auditioning with. It was the one where Wen Qin, the lead character, goes drinking at a bar after a breakup. It did not seem too difficult but required nuanced emotional control.
She would need to blend sorrow with a drunken haze, creating just the right emotional tone.
The audition was scheduled for next Monday at ten in the morning, at Xinghong Tower.
After reading through everything, Chu Jin leaned back and closed her eyes to rest, pressing her fingers to her temples.
She had acted in some short films before, but never anything this intense. At most, her previous roles involved holding hands or hugging. She had never even done a kiss scene.
Now, thinking about it made her nervous.
But when she remembered that the second female lead, Shen Huai, might be played by Chi Ye, she suddenly felt more at ease.
If her scene partner was Chi Ye, maybe things would not be so uncomfortable.
By then, it was already evening. The housekeeper had prepared a meal with dishes both she and Chi Ye enjoyed. After they ate and fed the kitten, they decided to go for a walk to help digest the food.
They walked along the road that led up the mountain.
Twilight was falling, and the world was quiet.
Only the soft glow of the streetlights illuminated the path ahead, leading them forward into the distance.
Chu Jin and Chi Ye walked side by side, slowly and in step. Every now and then, their arms would lightly brush against each other.
Chu Jin noticed that every time they were out in public, Chi Ye would grow more reserved. Her whole demeanor changed. She became distant and aloof, her expression cool and unapproachable.
She no longer showed the playful teasing she often displayed in private.
Even when Chu Jin took her hand, she could feel how Chi Ye’s body tensed slightly at the contact.
Chu Jin turned to glance at her, catching sight of the forced calm on her face. She couldn’t help teasing her.
“What is it, President Chi? You don’t want to hold my hand? Are you embarrassed to be seen with me?”
Her tone carried a gentle hint of mock grievance.
Chi Ye immediately turned to her.
“Of course not.”
Then she added, “If you want, I can make our relationship public right now.”
Chu Jin’s eyes softened as she smiled.
“I was joking.”
But Chi Ye looked completely serious. She even stopped walking.
“I wasn’t joking.”
Chu Jin continued to hold her hand, giving it a light tug as she led her forward again. But she did not respond to Chi Ye’s words.
What was the point of going public now? Their relationship was still under contract. Would they announce their divorce three years later as well?
“I took on a new role,” Chu Jin said, shifting the conversation.
Chi Ye responded calmly, as if she already knew.
“Is it Addicted?”
“You know about it?” Chu Jin looked at her.
“The director contacted me today too. She asked me to audition for the second lead.”
Chi Ye glanced at her briefly.
“When I heard you were cast as the lead, I said yes.”
After learning that Chi Ye would also be in the show, Chu Jin had looked up her past acting experience. To her surprise, Chi Ye had indeed acted before. It had been back when she was around twelve or thirteen years old.
Though her roles had been small, the dramas she appeared in were extremely popular at the time. She had not been in the spotlight for long, but she had made enough of an impression to be remembered as a child actor.
However, after growing up, Chi Ye disappeared from the public eye and never returned to the entertainment industry.
Given how popular their reserved and affectionate on-screen pairing had become, it made sense that the director wanted both of them to take part in the drama.
Suddenly, something came to Chu Jin’s mind. She turned to ask, “Have you read the synopsis of the show?”
Chi Ye paused for a moment before replying.
“No.”
Then she looked at Chu Jin and asked, “What is it about?”
Her expression appeared genuinely curious, but deep in her eyes was a trace of amusement, subtle and hard to detect.
Chu Jin caught it instantly.
There she goes again. Chi Ye was teasing her.
Chu Jin suddenly stopped walking. They were now standing in a quiet spot with no one else around. It was also a blind spot for surveillance cameras. She boldly leaned closer to Chi Ye.
“How about I show you myself?”
Her voice was low and husky, her gaze warm and seductive. It was the kind of look that could pull someone in and leave them unable to resist.
Like delicate little hooks, her words tugged at Chi Ye’s heart, leaving her breathless and completely disarmed.
It was no wonder the director wanted her to play Wen Qin. That was exactly who Wen Qin was. Her eyes alone could make people lose their composure, and her charm came effortlessly. She only needed to lift a finger to make others fall for her without hesitation.
Now that they were off the reality show, Chu Jin felt free to show her real self. And seeing Chi Ye react like this stirred a powerful sense of possession in her.
Chi Ye instinctively took a step back. But Chu Jin did not let up and continued to move closer, forcing Chi Ye backward step by step until she had nowhere else to retreat.
Chu Jin lowered her gaze and slowly leaned toward Chi Ye’s lips. Her warm breath brushed against Chi Ye’s cheek, hot and intense.
Chi Ye had already closed her eyes without realizing it.
But just as their lips were about to meet, Chu Jin suddenly shifted to the side.
Her lips stopped beside Chi Ye’s ear.
“Wife, why are your eyes closed?” she whispered.
The tingling sensation spread from Chi Ye’s ear across her whole body, making her knees feel weak.
She swallowed, trying to steady her breathing.
Struggling to suppress the rising heat in her chest, she replied in a calm tone.
“Let’s go back.”
She had reached her limit.
Chu Jin understood exactly what she meant.
But instead of pulling away, she straightened up and thought for a moment.
Then she spoke slowly and deliberately.
“But I don’t want to.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, she grabbed Chi Ye’s hand and led her down a narrow hidden path on the side of the road. They walked a few meters in until she made sure there was no one around and no surveillance cameras.
Then Chu Jin kissed her.
The sudden kiss was exactly what Chi Ye had been craving. She began to return the kiss with equal passion, but at the same time tried to gently push Chu Jin away.
Chu Jin gave her no chance.
She wrapped her arms around Chi Ye’s waist and pulled her close. Their lips locked, tongues entwined, every ounce of repressed emotion spilling out through their embrace.
By the time Chi Ye could hardly breathe and collapsed against Chu Jin’s chest, gasping for air, Chu Jin whispered with a faint smile.
“President Chi, that scene was part of the script too.”
It had been two days since their last kiss. Both of them had been holding back for far too long. The secrecy of the moment only heightened their senses and intensified every touch.
There was tension, but also overwhelming desire.
They indulged in the thrill of hiding, yet remained alert to the slightest sound or movement around them.
That day, Chi Ye had worn a button-up shirt with a silk midi skirt.
Chu Jin’s wandering hands had already undone the top three buttons of Chi Ye’s shirt. The long shadows cast by the streetlights outlined her collarbone, a striking and irresistible invitation.
“Let’s go back,” Chi Ye said again, her breathing uneven but her voice carrying a note of protest. Even so, her body kept leaning closer to Chu Jin with every passing second.
She was enjoying this freedom just as much.
What had started as a simple kiss had quickly spiraled out of control. Once they began, it was impossible to stop.
Chu Jin reluctantly brushed her lips against the corner of Chi Ye’s mouth. She lingered for a moment before gently biting her lower lip.
Then she whispered, “I want you to beg me.”
Those five words felt like magic, sinking deep into Chi Ye’s heart and igniting the desires she had tried so hard to contain.
Under normal circumstances, Chi Ye would never agree. She was known for being cool, aloof, and proud. Saying something like that would have been unthinkable for her.
But this was different.
In moments like these, she had no reservations.
She even found joy in it.
“I’m begging you,” she said softly. “Wife.”
Her voice was gentle and sultry, her expression like rippling spring water. Her cheeks flushed a delicate pink, and in that moment, she looked nothing like the cool and untouchable woman she usually was.
She was no longer a cat with her claws out.
She was a soft, docile rabbit that made people want to hold her tightly and never let go.
A fire blazed inside Chu Jin.
The urge to claim her completely became stronger than ever.
She lowered her gaze, then quickly reached up to button Chi Ye’s shirt again. Her movements were a bit hurried, her fingers trembling with restraint.
“Let’s go home,” she said.
