After Marrying the Cold Omega in Secret - Chapter 40
After breakfast, everyone’s phone buzzed with a message from the production team.
“The summer sun is blazing, and the pool area is now open. Come and enjoy the season to the fullest. Please prepare a beautiful swimsuit today. Tomorrow at 2 PM sharp, we will begin the Love Cabin pool party.”
As soon as the message came through, the calm atmosphere was stirred up again. Everyone grew excited and headed to the pool area behind the villa to check it out.
At some point, the pool had already been cleaned, though it had not yet been filled with water. Staff members were still setting up the area, placing lounge chairs and opening parasols along the poolside.
Viewers in the livestream chat were equally thrilled.
“Oh my gosh! The pool party is finally happening!”
“I hope they’ll play some exciting games. I want to see the reserved couples have sweet interactions.”
“Reserved? They already broke up.”
“Who breaks up and still wears matching outfits?”
“Chu Jin must be copying someone again.”
“Mingming Chi is also a heartbreaker.”
“Stop arguing. You’re ruining my anticipation for their swimsuit looks. I’m drooling here.”
“No interactions today? Heartbreaking.”
While the comment section was in chaos, Chu Jin was still observing the pool behind the villa.
She had noticed the pool when she first entered the house, but at that time, the entire area had been empty. She had thought it would be nice to swim one day. She never expected the production team to actually use every corner of the property so thoroughly.
Now that the message had confirmed they needed to prepare swimsuits, it meant today was likely a free day.
Sure enough, a short while later, someone from the director’s team arrived with an official notice. They announced that today was a day off. Everyone was free to come and go from the villa as they pleased, and the camera crew would not follow them. The livestream would only show footage from the fixed indoor cameras.
Everyone had been confined for days. Even when they went outside, the cameras were always on them. Now that they finally had time to move freely, no one was going to waste it.
Chu Jin immediately messaged Song Xunyu, and the two agreed to meet in the afternoon to go shopping.
They decided to meet at a café.
Chu Jin planned to take a ride there, but Chi Ye stopped her. Out of concern for her safety, she insisted on having He Xian arrange a driver to pick her up.
However, Chu Jin still had to walk a short distance on her own to avoid being seen by other cast members.
The car glided smoothly into the city, passing tall buildings, and finally stopped in front of an elegant-looking café.
Song Xunyu had arrived early and waved at Chu Jin when she saw her enter.
The café’s interior was refined and tasteful. It had a vintage charm, yet still felt modern and stylish. It was quiet inside. Customers were speaking softly, and the only sound came from a piano playing gentle music in the corner.
Chu Jin wore a sleek black dress that day. Her soft curls fell over her chest like silk, shiny and smooth. A pearl necklace rested against her neck. Her entire presence radiated elegance and sophistication. She fit perfectly with the surroundings, and if anything, she made the setting seem even more luxurious.
Her stride in high heels was graceful and poised, with just the right amount of allure. Even Song Xunyu couldn’t help but be amazed.
As soon as Chu Jin sat down, Song Xunyu leaned forward and said with admiration, “Jin-jie, it’s only been a few days, and you’re already on a whole new level of gorgeous.”
Chu Jin smiled and replied, “You’re such a sweet-talker.”
Song Xunyu’s smile faded and she suddenly whispered seriously, “Do you know how much a cup of coffee here costs?”
Chu Jin shook her head.
She had told Chi Ye about her plans for the day. Chi Ye had picked this café, mentioning it was a new spot in Linhe City and telling her to go try it out.
Song Xunyu took a deep breath and raised her hand in a finger-gun gesture. When Chu Jin still looked puzzled, she sighed dramatically and whispered, “Eight thousand.”
Chu Jin’s eyes widened. Since Chi Ye had chosen the place, she had expected it to be upscale, but she hadn’t imagined it would be this expensive.
Song Xunyu began reenacting the scene. She raised her voice slightly and mimicked herself, “I asked the waiter, ‘Why is it so expensive? Are the coffee beans made of gold?’”
Switching into a calm and serious tone, she mimicked the waiter’s response, “These are not regular beans. They are this year’s Panama Washed Champion Auction beans. They are extremely rare and this is the first café in the country to serve them.”
“Even the beans are limited edition.” Song Xunyu sighed again, then slumped dramatically onto the table. “I really do feel like I have a grudge against rich people.”
Chu Jin couldn’t help laughing.
Song Xunyu looked up and raised an eyebrow playfully. “If it weren’t for your connections, I’d never get to taste this coffee.”
Chu Jin rolled her eyes. “Stop pretending. Your aunt gives you a huge allowance every month. You can totally afford this.”
Song Xunyu’s family also ran a business. Although they weren’t as wealthy as the Chi family, they were still among the upper class. Chu Jin had known Song Xunyu since they were kids.
Song Xunyu’s parents divorced when she was young. Her mother raised her alone. That was when they moved and became neighbors with Chu Jin’s family. At that time, both families were just getting by.
But Song Xunyu’s mother was a remarkable woman. She built everything from scratch. Chu Jin had watched her work her way to success and turn Song Xunyu into a proper heiress.
Song Xunyu gave a sheepish smile. “I still need money to support my fangirl lifestyle.”
“You’re still chasing after Qu Miaoyan?” Chu Jin teased.
Ever since Chi Ye had shared that shocking gossip about Qu Miaoyan, Chu Jin had immediately told Song Xunyu. She had been heartbroken for a few days, but quickly recovered. It lasted about three days.
“Don’t even mention her. She’s officially my ex-wife now,” Song Xunyu replied casually, then smiled. “I have a new crush now.”
“Who is it?” Chu Jin asked curiously.
“Feng Yuwei. Her new drama just came out and I’m completely obsessed.”
Chu Jin knew Feng Yuwei. She was about the same age as them and had been in the industry since childhood. Like Qu Miaoyan, she also had a sweet and bubbly image.
So even though Song Xunyu changed her celebrity crushes often, at least she was consistent in her type.
At that moment, the server brought over two cups of coffee and a few plates of beautifully arranged desserts.
“Enough about me. Let’s talk about you and Chi Ye. What’s going on between you two? I’ve seen so many theories online. Some say you’re being too clingy, others say she’s a heartbreaker.”
Frowning slightly, Song Xunyu took a sip of her coffee. She paused, tasting it carefully, then smiled. “This eight-thousand-yuan coffee really does taste good.”
It was the café’s signature drink. Chu Jin followed with a sip. The initial taste was slightly acidic, but the aftertaste was rich and full. It was very different from the coffee she usually drank.
“There’s really not much to say,” Chu Jin replied, unsure of how to explain. But when she saw the intense curiosity in Song Xunyu’s eyes, she added, “I just follow the agreement we made. I go along with whatever she asks.”
“What kind of requests?” Song Xunyu leaned in with excitement in her eyes. “Be specific.”
“Nothing serious, just the usual things.” Chu Jin tried to brush it off and took another sip of coffee. Her mind, however, was already replaying several intimate memories.
Seeing that Chu Jin was reluctant to answer, Song Xunyu decided to take the lead in asking.
“Have you hugged?”
Chu Jin remained silent.
Song Xunyu narrowed her eyes and kept pressing.
“What about kissing?”
Chu Jin still remained silent.
Song Xunyu leaned forward, her voice full of disbelief and exaggerated curiosity.
“Did you… sleep together?”
Chu Jin gave her a sharp look with those beautiful eyes and whispered, “Keep your voice down.”
Song Xunyu quickly looked around. Thankfully, no one was seated nearby, and those farther away didn’t seem to notice anything unusual.
She then lowered her voice even further and spoke in a hushed tone, eyes wide with shock.
“You actually did?”
Chu Jin quickly explained, “No, we didn’t. We haven’t gone that far.”
“So basically, you’ve done everything except that?” Song Xunyu’s initial surprise turned into a mischievous smile. She squinted with a teasing expression, clearly excited by the gossip. “I knew something was off between you two.”
Was it really that obvious? Chu Jin felt a little confused.
“How could you tell?”
“With my ten years of fan experience, I could spot the chemistry between you two right away. You’ve clearly been sneaking around behind the viewers’ backs, hugging and kissing,” Song Xunyu laughed. “I knew those breakup rumors were nonsense.”
“But seriously,” she added, now smiling with admiration, “the two of you alone in the same room, all that tension, and you still managed to stop yourselves? I’m impressed.”
She even gave an exaggerated thumbs-up.
“We were still filming at the time,” Chu Jin replied, her expression turning more serious. “Besides, I didn’t want to take advantage of her while she was in her susceptible phase. You know me. What I want is…”
“I get it. You’re all about true love,” Song Xunyu raised an eyebrow and finished her sentence for her, then took a bite of dessert.
“By the way,” she said suddenly, the dessert barely swallowed, as if something just came to mind.
But then she paused, frowning and thinking deeply. Her hesitation left Chu Jin hanging, watching her impatiently until she finally spoke.
“You once told me Chi Ye was an alpha, like you, right?”
Chu Jin nodded. “Yes.”
“Why?”
“I don’t know… I just have a strange feeling about it,” Song Xunyu said as she rested her chin on her hand. Her gaze became thoughtful as she started analyzing. “If you’re both alphas, how could either of you experience strong physical urges during susceptibility?”
That question had actually been bothering Chu Jin for quite a while, but she hadn’t found an answer.
“Maybe it’s just a rare case?” she said tentatively.
“That’s impossible. It goes against genetic biology,” Song Xunyu replied firmly. “I’ve never heard of something like that happening.”
“Have you ever considered…” Song Xunyu slowly lifted her head, looking right at Chu Jin as she shared her bold theory.
“What if Chi Ye is actually an omega?”
Ever since Song Xunyu proposed that idea, Chu Jin couldn’t calm down.
Now that she thought about it, Chi Ye had never actually stated her secondary gender. Chu Jin had always assumed Chi Ye was an alpha based on Yan Sisi’s classification.
Just like how she once assumed, based on the number three, that she and Chi Ye had been in a secret marriage for revenge on Yan Sisi. It had seemed logical at the time, but now it was clear that her assumptions were wrong.
And with recent events, it was becoming more and more obvious that Chi Ye’s feelings for Yan Sisi were nothing like she had imagined.
So then, it was perfectly reasonable to think… Chi Ye might really not be an alpha.
Could it be true that the cool, distant President Chi was actually a soft omega?
Just thinking about that possibility made Chu Jin feel unexpectedly warm inside.
She didn’t continue that conversation with Song Xunyu. First, because she didn’t dare to overthink it; the idea was too shocking. Second, they had come out today with a purpose. The pool party was tomorrow, and she needed to buy a stunning swimsuit.
After this reality show ended, she was going to fully transition into the film industry. She needed to start establishing her unique style and make herself memorable to audiences and casting directors alike.
Song Xunyu, always one to stir the pot, encouraged her to buy a red two-piece swimsuit. The top resembled a stylish bra, covered by a sheer outer layer. The bottom was a form-fitting mini skirt.
At the waist, a delicate rhinestone chain was attached, designed to hang loosely and accentuate her figure.
It perfectly outlined her curves, making her look confident and alluring without appearing over-the-top.
“This outfit is not only going to wow the audience,” Song Xunyu grinned, “it’ll leave President Chi completely dazed. And maybe, just maybe, she’ll accidentally reveal she’s an omega.”
Chu Jin was skeptical but somewhat persuaded. Her soft heart made it easy for her to be swayed, and in the end, she bought it.
After shopping, they had dinner together. By the time Chu Jin returned to the villa, the sky had already gone dark.
It was getting late, so she went straight upstairs to her bedroom.
As soon as she opened the door, she saw Chi Ye sitting by the window in a nightgown.
She was seated sideways on the carpet next to the floor-to-ceiling window, wearing gold-rimmed glasses. At that moment, she was quietly focused on the laptop on her lap, her slender fingers tapping gently on the keyboard.
Hearing the door open, Chi Ye pushed her glasses up and looked over at Chu Jin.
Noticing the slight flush in Chu Jin’s cheeks, her brows knitted together.
“Did you drink?”
Chu Jin smiled playfully and closed the door behind her.
“Just a little bit.”
Although Chu Jin was still conscious, her steps were uneven and light, as if she were walking on clouds. She stumbled slightly as she made her way to stand in front of Chi Ye.
She swayed the shopping bag in her hand and gave a small smile.
“I bought a super sexy swimsuit.”
Chi Ye narrowed her eyes slightly, her brows drawing together for a moment. She then set aside her work and straightened up in her seat, turning her full attention to Chu Jin. Her gaze briefly dropped to the Patek Philippe watch on her wrist.
It was five minutes to ten. The livestream had already ended.
A faint smile curved her lips.
“Try it on for me.”
