After Marrying the Cold Omega in Secret - Chapter 41
Under normal circumstances, Chu Jin would never have agreed to such a request. But after two glasses of champagne, the alcohol had clearly taken effect. Her mood had become more elevated than usual.
Her expression was unfocused, but there was a natural seductiveness in her demeanor. She lowered her gaze and softly exhaled near Chi Ye’s ear.
“I’m afraid you won’t be able to handle it.”
That sentence, instead of deterring Chi Ye, only intrigued her more. She calmly pushed up her glasses. Her long, narrow eyes narrowed slightly, catching the light just enough to show a faint glimmer. Behind the lenses, there was a faint air of danger, refined but unruly.
“Is that so?”
Chi Ye raised one eyebrow.
Her tone was suggestive and deliberate. For someone like Chu Jin, already tipsy, it was extremely effective.
Without hesitation, Chu Jin took the swimsuit from her bag and placed it on the nearby sofa. Then she lifted her arms to start unzipping her dress.
“If you don’t believe me, I’ll show you.”
Just as she reached behind herself to lower the zipper, her rational mind finally caught up with her. She paused mid-motion.
“Turn around,” Chu Jin said, glancing at Chi Ye. Her lips, red and slightly parted, moved softly. “You’re not allowed to watch.”
The smile on Chi Ye’s face hadn’t faded once. Hearing Chu Jin’s request only made the amusement in her eyes deepen.
“But we’ve already…”
“If you don’t, I’ll change in the dressing room.”
Chi Ye had barely started her sentence when Chu Jin, knowing exactly what she was about to say, cut her off.
Although they had gotten physically close over the past few nights, there had always been a layer of clothing between them. They had never fully revealed themselves to each other. Because of that, Chu Jin still felt shy, especially under Chi Ye’s teasing gaze.
Looking at Chu Jin’s slightly flushed cheeks, Chi Ye felt her heart soften. She had been dealing with company matters the entire afternoon. Even the swimsuit had been purchased by He Xian on her behalf. She had been feeling irritable, but the moment she saw Chu Jin, all that tension disappeared.
Her mood instantly lightened.
Now, looking at the stern but adorable expression on Chu Jin’s face, Chi Ye couldn’t help but laugh to herself.
Her wife was too cute.
She gave in gently.
“Alright, I’ll turn around.”
She shifted her body and faced the closed curtains.
Chu Jin saw that Chi Ye was obediently facing away and reminded her once more.
“No peeking.”
Only after receiving confirmation did she feel at ease. Still, she chose to change with her back turned toward Chi Ye.
However, the light behind her cast her silhouette clearly beside Chi Ye. The shape of her figure appeared on the surface nearby, moving gently as she did. Her slim waist and curves were clearly outlined.
Even just watching the hazy outline of her body made Chi Ye feel a dryness in her throat. She quickly turned her eyes away and stared at the curtains, forcing herself not to dwell on it.
But she had truly underestimated the meaning of the word “seduction” as Chu Jin had used it.
Even though she had prepared herself mentally, the moment Chu Jin stepped out in the swimsuit, Chi Ye was still caught off guard.
Chu Jin’s skin was naturally pale. Under the red fabric and warm lighting, it seemed to glow with a soft, radiant sheen. Her complexion looked even more delicate, like flawless porcelain.
Chi Ye’s eyes wandered across her body without drawing attention to it. Her gaze moved from the flushed tips of her ears, down her smooth neck, across the alluring curve of her collarbone, and to the narrow waist that fit perfectly in one’s hands. Every detail made Chi Ye’s heart stir.
Finally, she forced herself to stop at Chu Jin’s face, only to be caught off guard by her tender and affectionate gaze.
Chu Jin’s cheeks carried a shy smile. Her lips, soft and pink like rose petals, parted slightly.
“Do I look good?”
Her eyes glistened like autumn water.
Chi Ye’s thoughts faltered, and her gaze darkened.
According to the original plan, she was supposed to continue seducing Chu Jin during this time, gradually easing her doubts about their relationship.
But Wan Qing’s unexpected appearance had disrupted her pace.
The one who was meant to lead had become hesitant again.
Chi Ye quietly pressed her palm to her side. Her voice came out rough but composed.
“You look beautiful.”
She pointed to the cover-up lying on the sofa.
“Make sure you wear that tomorrow.”
Chu Jin’s lips curled into a small smile. She let out a soft breath.
“I left it off on purpose tonight.”
Their eyes met. The air between them grew hotter. The originally cool room felt more and more stifling. Emotions buried deep within began to stir. Neither of them spoke. The silence created a fragile balance.
If either one crossed the line, their self-control would completely collapse.
Chi Ye looked away.
“It’s getting late. Go wash up and get some sleep.”
She started to stand.
But Chu Jin remained still. Instead, she walked toward Chi Ye and stopped directly in front of her. One hand landed on Chi Ye’s shoulder, halting her movement.
Chu Jin’s gaze lowered. She said nothing, only stared at her quietly.
She was thinking about the question Song Xunyu had asked earlier that day, wondering about Chi Ye’s gender. At this point, Chu Jin’s curiosity had reached its peak.
Chi Ye, however, had no idea. That single touch made her heart race even more. The intense hormonal response made it difficult for her to stay composed. She had to focus hard on her breathing to avoid showing any signs of losing control.
The silence stretched.
Then Chu Jin finally asked softly,
“Has your susceptibility period ended?”
Chi Ye had never corrected Chu Jin’s assumption about her gender. In fact, she had allowed it to continue. It helped support the rumor that she was once Yan Sisi’s lost love, which made it easier to get close to Chu Jin and make Yan Sisi jealous.
“No, not yet,” Chi Ye replied truthfully, shaking her head. “But it’s almost over.”
Her heat cycle always lasted longer than average. After being around Chu Jin, the timing and intensity had become completely unpredictable. It was chaotic, sometimes overwhelming.
“I see,” Chu Jin murmured. Her fingers moved slightly, brushing over Chi Ye’s shoulder, then slowly trailing up toward her neck.
Just that gentle tracing of her fingertips was enough to stir a storm of desire within Chi Ye. When those fingers were about to reach her earlobe, Chi Ye reached up and grabbed Chu Jin’s hand, stopping her.
“Don’t.”
Chu Jin lifted her gaze and met Chi Ye’s eyes. In that brief moment, she caught the panic hidden deep within them.
“What’s wrong?”
Chi Ye hid her emotions perfectly. Within seconds, she had returned to her usual cold and distant self.
She raised her calm, unreadable eyes. Her voice was low and steady.
“It’s late.”
But Chu Jin didn’t want to stop. She wanted to press further, to test the truth. Her eyes fell on Chi Ye’s flushed ear, and her voice softened even more.
“You should take an inhibitor.”
Chi Ye adjusted her glasses. Her lips had already pressed into a straight line.
“I will. In a little while.”
“Let me help you.”
Chu Jin continued looking at her.
“We’re both alphas. I can give you the shot.”
“There’s no need.”
Chi Ye refused her without hesitation.
Chu Jin frowned slightly.
“Why not?”
“I’m not used to being touched by others,” Chi Ye replied, her expression turning colder.
Inside, she was already panicking. Her only way to hide her unease was to act indifferent. In the beginning, she never meant to hide her identity, but over time, circumstances had left her no choice. Her pride and stubbornness only made the lie harder to undo.
And now, it was too late to go back.
Chi Ye didn’t give Chu Jin another opportunity. She immediately stood up, took an inhibitor from the cabinet, and walked straight toward the bathroom.
“I’ll take it first. You can wash up later.”
As she watched Chi Ye’s back, Chu Jin felt a trace of disappointment. Her plan had failed. Since Chi Ye had made her rejection so clear, it seemed she had no real chance of finding out the truth.
She had originally intended to change out of her swimsuit, but her eyes unconsciously drifted toward the cabinet door where Chi Ye had retrieved the inhibitor.
They were sharing the indoor storage unit. Chu Jin used the left side and Chi Ye used the right. The doors weren’t locked, and it would be easy to peek at the other’s belongings.
Chu Jin had always considered herself a person of principle. She never went through other people’s things. But just now, Chi Ye had taken her inhibitor from that cabinet. There had to be more doses inside. If she could just look at the packaging, she would be able to tell whether it was made for alphas or omegas.
One glance was all it would take. Then she would know Chi Ye’s true secondary gender.
She could finally stop wondering.
That cabinet now felt like a Pandora’s box. It gave off a strange sense of temptation, quietly luring her closer.
Chu Jin told herself she wasn’t the kind of person who went through others’ things. But Chi Ye wasn’t exactly someone else, was she? They weren’t madly in love or entirely inseparable, but they had signed the documents. They were legally married. Their relationship was protected by law.
Checking her partner’s cabinet couldn’t be that wrong, could it?
Besides, she was only doing it out of concern. What if the inhibitor was expired?
That was it. She was only checking the expiration date.
Having convinced herself, Chu Jin walked over to the cabinet. Just as she raised her hand to open the door, she hesitated. Her arm froze in midair.
There was only one thin door between her and the answer, yet her chest tightened with nerves.
She didn’t understand why.
If Chi Ye turned out to be an omega, then every assumption she had made up to this point would fall apart. She would have to question everything. Even Chi Ye’s reason for getting close to her.
Despite her hesitation, Chu Jin opened the cabinet. Inside were a few miscellaneous items, and just as she had guessed, a few remaining inhibitor syringes were tucked into the corner. She picked them up and immediately saw the label on the packaging.
It read, “For Alpha Use Only.”
She checked each one carefully. Every label said the same.
Only then did Chu Jin feel her heart slowly settle. She let out a quiet breath, the tension inside her finally easing.
Now everything could continue as it had before. All she had to do was follow the terms of their agreement, just like always.
But if they were both truly alphas, then she could only provide the comfort Chi Ye might occasionally need. A few hugs, a few kisses. As for anything more intimate or binding, that was no longer possible.
That thought left Chu Jin with a strange mix of feelings. A little confusion. A little sadness.
—
As soon as Chi Ye stepped into the bathroom, she locked the door behind her. The calm she had shown outside disappeared completely. Emotion surged through her like a wave, and the flush on her cheeks deepened.
She looked at the two inhibitors in her hand. After quickly identifying them, she set aside the one labeled for alpha use and placed it on the sink. Then she unwrapped the packaging of the last remaining omega inhibitor and injected it into her neck gland without hesitation.
The medicine entered her bloodstream quickly. Within a minute, the restless energy she had been suppressing began to fade, and her thoughts gradually became clear again.
Once her mind had settled, Chi Ye picked up the alpha-labeled inhibitor from the sink. She tore open the packaging and tossed the wrapper into the trash. The packaging from the omega inhibitor she had just used was flushed down the toilet.
Earlier, when she was still outside, she had already sensed Chu Jin’s suspicion. Even in that situation, Chi Ye had kept her composure. In her mind, she had quickly pieced together this backup plan.
When she had asked, He Xian to send over inhibitors in advance, she had specifically told him to include extra omega doses, just in case. It turned out today was the day she needed them.
Luckily, only one omega inhibitor remained. She no longer had to worry about Chu Jin opening the cabinet and finding anything she should not see.
After finishing everything, Chi Ye looked at her reflection in the mirror and smiled faintly.
Every step had gone exactly as planned. Nothing had been overlooked.
It was all perfectly handled.
