After Losing My Memory, I Went After My Archenemy - Chapter 22
In her current state, and absolutely refusing to go home, it seemed the only option was to take her to a hotel.
Having learned her lesson last time, her uncle’s house was absolutely out of the question. Lin Xi was very clear that she didn’t want to create misunderstandings, and was too lazy to offer unnecessary explanations.
Looking down at the Omega wrapped around her like an octopus, Lin Xi helplessly whispered, “You got your wish.”
What? Xia Rou didn’t quite hear it.
The next second, before she could react, her entire body began to slowly move with the other person’s support.
Where are we going? Wait!
Anxiously, Xia Rou had to whisper again in a drunken tone with her eyes closed, “I’m not going home. I don’t want to go home~”
The Alpha looked at her, unable to hold back a smile, but didn’t respond this time.
She finally managed to hail a car. The feigning-drunk Xia Rou was relatively cooperative and got into the car. To be convincing, she dared not open her eyes the entire time. Therefore, after getting in, when Lin Xi placed her down and kept a distant space, she could only obediently stay in her seat to avoid giving herself away.
This woman’s self-control is too good, isn’t it? Around her, Xia Rou couldn’t help but wonder if her charm wasn’t enough.
Because she couldn’t open her eyes, Xia Rou was in a daze the whole way. Only when her back rested against a surface as soft as a cloud did she realize she had been brought to a hotel.
A faint mobile phone ringtone sounded, likely Lin Xi’s phone.
Xia Rou secretly peeked through a crack in her eye. At that moment, the woman was standing about a meter away from the bed. Sensing her turning towards this direction, Xia Rou was so scared she immediately squeezed her eyes shut.
It was her uncle’s call.
Lin Xi held the phone, turned to look at the girl lying on the bed, and then walked towards the room door.
“Niece, how come you’re not home yet? Do you want me to come pick you up?”
Gently half-closing the door, Lin Xi stood in the hallway and said, “No need, I’ll take a taxi back later.”
“You didn’t run into any trouble, did you?” the man on the other end of the phone asked, still worried.
“No.”
Xia Rou seized the opportunity to peek through her eye-crack again, finding the room empty. The room door was slightly ajar, and Lin Xi’s voice faintly drifted from the doorway, though she couldn’t make out the content.
She quickly moved her stiff limbs. Pretending to be drunk is exhausting!
Before long, there was movement at the door again. Unaware of the situation, Xia Rou quickly closed her eyes and remained still.
Lin Xi re-entered the room and approached the bedside. She suddenly noticed one of the Omega’s legs had fallen off the bed. After a moment of hesitation, she stepped forward to lift it back onto the bed.
“I’m leaving now. You rest here. If anything happens, call the front desk.”
Having said this to the ‘sleeping’ person on the bed, Lin Xi turned and left the room, this time properly closing the door behind her.
Hearing the sound of the door being closed, Xia Rou opened her eyes almost instantly.
She couldn’t help but pout in slight disappointment. She still left.
The next second, she sat up from the bed. Feeling a bit thirsty, she got up to get water from the table while surveying her surroundings.
The display card on the table showed the hotel’s name and introduction—a five-star hotel in Linlu City. Of course, the price for a night here was negligible for Xia Rou, but thinking about how hard Lin Xi works after school every day, it felt better to pay her back this money.
She picked up her phone, ready to transfer the money, but suddenly remembered something and immediately stopped.
She was supposed to be in a ‘drunken’ state right now. How could she transfer money?
She would just pay her back tomorrow.
Xia Rou wandered around the room alone for a bit, then casually turned on the TV for some background noise, before heading into the bathroom. Standing in front of the mirror, she checked her makeup and appearance.
She had to make sure she hadn’t looked too ugly in front of Lin Xi just now.
Lin Xi walked into the elevator and stood still, just about to press the button for the first floor, when two cleaning aunties entered together. She had to take a step back to give them more space.
Before the elevator door closed, the two cleaning aunties began chatting as if no one else was there.
“Did you see the news from the other day? A single girl was staying alone in a hotel at night, and someone forcibly broke in and did that to her.”
“That actually happened? Which hotel was it?”
“They say it was a small hotel. The management and everything probably wasn’t that good.”
“So, hotels like ours are safer, then?”
“Hard to say. Anyway, you still have to be careful.”
Ding, the elevator reached the first floor. The door opened, and the cleaning aunties quickly exited, followed by Lin Xi.
The lobby was spacious and bright. Outside the revolving door, the security guard stood upright and serious. It didn’t look dangerous at all.
Lin Xi walked towards the exit, trying to convince herself that she would be fine.
However, as she was about to reach the exit, her footsteps suddenly stopped. The next second, she decisively turned back. She had also forgotten that the room card was still with her.
Xia Rou hadn’t expected Lin Xi to come back after leaving, and she nearly blew her cover. Fortunately, she reacted quickly, turning off the TV and practically falling onto the bed the moment she heard movement outside the door.
Yes, she fell.
Lin Xi, back in the room, glanced at the person on the bed. Her sleeping position was different from before, but she wasn’t suspicious because of it.
Sitting down on a chair, Lin Xi picked up her phone and sent a text message to her uncle, notifying him that she wouldn’t be returning tonight.
It was at this moment that the corner of her eye caught sight of an opened bottle of mineral water on a nearby table. She paused for a moment, then slowly turned her head to look at the Omega on the bed again.
Lin Xi: …
From the moment she confirmed Lin Xi had returned, Xia Rou had tried hard to keep her eyes closed, pretending to sleep. Perhaps because she had maintained the posture for a long time, and the hour was late and her body was genuinely tired, she slowly drifted from pretending to sleep to actually falling asleep.
The room was equipped with an automatic coffee machine. Lin Xi made herself a cup of black coffee, then opened her tablet from her canvas bag, and quietly began to study. When she got tired, she would rest her head on the table for a while.
In the deep night, the room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Lin Xi, a light sleeper by nature, was startled awake by movement nearby. Opening her eyes, she realized the person on the bed had kicked off the blanket.
She got up and went over to cover her without a second thought. Just as she bent down to tuck in the corner of the blanket and was about to stand up, the Omega, as if her radar had detected something in her sleep, tightly grabbed her arm.
Completely unprepared, Lin Xi was abruptly pulled down. In her panic, she extended one hand to brace herself on the edge of the bed, which prevented her from entirely falling onto the other person.
The Omega turned over, instinctively pressing her face against Lin Xi’s arm. Her reaction in that moment was like a cat sniffing catnip—intoxicated and submerged.
Lin Xi: …
Her brow furrowed. She struggled to support her upper body weight with one hand, trying to pull back her other arm, but any slight movement only made the other person hug her tighter.
Xia Rou was having a dream. She dreamed she was kissing Lin Xi, who was kissing her passionately and forcefully.
She also tried her best to respond, and then
Lin Xi watched, wide-eyed, as the Omega beneath her pressed her slightly cool lips against her arm, a hint of a smile seeming to play on her face.
Her whole body went rigid, and her face instantly flushed all the way to her ears.
…What kind of dream is this?
