After Losing My Memory, I Suddenly Had A Fiancée - Chapter 26
Ji Fanghuai scolded the culprit cat fiercely, making her old face blush. The thought that Jiang Zhi saw the cat bouncing on her chest the whole time made her feel too ashamed to face anyone.
“Meow meow?” Xixi the cat was extremely clingy to her but very cold towards Jiang Zhi, often acting fierce.
“This cat is just too much,” Ji Fanghuai grumbled silently.
“It just likes to cling to you. It even got angry when I took it down,” Jiang Zhi said meaningfully. “If you want to sleep more, go to the bedroom. Be careful not to catch a cold here.”
“No, I won’t sleep anymore.” Ji Fanghuai hadn’t intended to fall asleep directly, and now that she was awake, she felt full of energy.
She looked towards the balcony; Jiang Zhi had already washed all the clothes that could be laundered. This suddenly made her feel like she spent her entire day doing nothing.
Ji Fanghuai said a little helplessly, “How come you’ve done everything? You didn’t even wait for me to help.”
She always felt tired after coming back, but Jiang Zhi seemed tireless.
Jiang Zhi didn’t take it to heart and said, “I have time now, so I just did it all. I’ll be busier later.”
Ji Fanghuai remembered reading somewhere that someone wanted a girlfriend who could take care of them like a mother. At the time, she felt that such a life would not only lack participation but also, since it was a girlfriend, how could one bear to let her work as hard as a mother?
Now, Jiang Zhi was truly a girlfriend who was more like a mother than her own mother. Ji Fanghuai couldn’t accept Jiang Zhi doing everything. She looked at the night outside and said, “I’ll clean up the cat’s mess today.”
Jiang Zhi said, “Alright.”
For the next few consecutive days, they focused on the items on the list, which were nothing more than the everyday things couples love to do—various dates, meals, strolls, and walks.
“What we did before was too tiring. I want to rest for a few days,” Ji Fanghuai woke up in bed and didn’t want to get up, only wishing to lie around like a couch potato.
Perhaps due to her physical condition, she felt lifeless and dispirited, like a dead fish. Aside from the first day when she was enthusiastic, she later felt like she was being pushed to complete tasks.
The items on the list were clearly simple, but because she overthought things, they became a burden instead.
Jiang Zhi said considerately, “Then you should rest well. It’s perfect timing, as I’m going to work.”
Ji Fanghuai didn’t believe it was that much of a coincidence, but she always knew Jiang Zhi was busy with work. Thinking of how Jiang Zhi had put aside her work these past few days to accompany her doing those seemingly useless things, she felt a little guilty, but she couldn’t say it aloud.
Otherwise, Jiang Zhi might distance herself again.
Ji Fanghuai said, “Can I touch the things in the house? I mean, I want to see if I can find anything familiar when I get bored.”
Jiang Zhi said without hesitation, “You can.”
Ji Fanghuai stayed home, petting the cat and scrolling through jokes. Remembering what she told Jiang Zhi, she looked through every corner, trying her best to find some sense of familiarity, only to find nothing.
Every time she went out with Jiang Zhi, she felt like Jiang Zhi was revisiting old places, while everything for her, except for the occasional fleeting sense of familiarity, felt like the first time.
Ji Fanghuai urgently wanted to find some familiarity.
Jiang Zhi’s life seemed to revolve only around her, yet Ji Fanghuai couldn’t feel any familiarity in this home.
After pondering, Ji Fanghuai asked Aunt Chu to make some soup, planning to personally take it to Jiang Zhi to give her a surprise.
She figured she probably did this often in the past, so she’d do it now to show concern for Jiang Zhi and increase their familiarity.
“You’re not allowed to tell Jiang Zhi,” Ji Fanghuai instructed the assistant, knowing that if anything happened, the assistant would definitely side with Jiang Zhi.
The assistant quickly said, “I understand.”
Ji Fanghuai was a little excited about Jiang Zhi’s reaction when she saw her, but also a little nervous, afraid that her sudden arrival at the company would disrupt Jiang Zhi’s original plans. However, she was only there to deliver some love.
Ji Fanghuai’s sudden arrival immediately sparked the gossip among the company employees. The last time she came was so unexpected. Although her stay was short and she left before people could react, the news of Jiang Zhi having a fiancée spread like wildfire in the company.
Most employees had only recently learned that Jiang Zhi had a fiancée, and now hearing she was back, those who were bored wanted to see what Ji Fanghuai looked like.
“She’s here, she’s here! Sisters who missed her last time, get ready. I’ll live-stream for you,” Employee A said in the company group chat. “The target will be at President Jiang’s office soon.”
Everyone in the group responded, “Remember to take pictures.”
The gaming industry is generally young, and the company atmosphere was lively. Soon, many people joined the discussion.
Employee A: “President Jiang’s fiancée is a short-haired young lady. I saw her face. She looks so young, like she hasn’t been through the harshness of society. She must have been very well protected. Ah, my dream of becoming the boss’s wife is shattered.”
“Short hair? She’s conservatively estimated to be a good top.”
The group started an intense debate.
“I didn’t expect someone as dominating as President Jiang to be the bottom?”
“Impossible!!”
“I, for one, stand with President Jiang as the top!”
Employee A disagreed: “She looks shorter than me, shorter than President Jiang. I also stand with President Jiang as the top.”
Someone replied, “What do you all know? As the saying goes, don’t despise a short top; they can eat your milk while doing it.”
“Kill the person above.”
“+ ID number.”
As soon as Ji Fanghuai arrived at the company, she felt eyes constantly glancing at her. She followed the assistant to Jiang Zhi’s office, maintaining a calm exterior but feeling uneasy inside.
The assistant said, “President Jiang.”
Jiang Zhi didn’t even look up and said, “What is it?”
The assistant glanced at Ji Fanghuai and quietly left. Jiang Zhi waited a moment without a reply, frowned, and looked up, only to see Ji Fanghuai standing there looking at her. She immediately stammered, “Fanghuai?”
“Surprise? Isn’t it unexpected?” Ji Fanghuai didn’t know what to say; the situation felt a little awkward.
Jiang Zhi walked around the desk and said, “Why did you suddenly come? Didn’t you say you were going to rest well at home?”
Ji Fanghuai wanted to say she just came to look for a sense of familiarity, but she couldn’t bear to make Jiang Zhi sad, so she said, “Aunt Chu made a rich, nourishing soup and said it’s perfect for this weather. I was bored, so I came to see you.”
“Thank you.” Jiang Zhi happily took the food container. Besides the fragrant chicken soup, there were also small, exquisite mung bean cakes, which seemed to be sugar-free.
Ji Fanghuai felt that Jiang Zhi was a bit awkward, perhaps because she hadn’t expected her to come, and was even flattered.
“You continue with your work. I just dropped by to see you,” Ji Fanghuai felt less bored after coming here. She didn’t want to delay Jiang Zhi, so she sat on the side and read a novel.
However, because Jiang Zhi was next to her, Ji Fanghuai couldn’t concentrate and kept glancing at Jiang Zhi.
There was a photo frame on Jiang Zhi’s desk, which Ji Fanghuai couldn’t see clearly from her angle. She moved around until she finally saw the photo: it was a picture of her and Jiang Zhi together.
However, the person in the photo looked different from her now—younger and more innocent, like a student. Looking closely, it didn’t seem like the age for dating.
She asked, “Is this me? I look so young.”
“You mature slowly, so you look young,” Jiang Zhi said flatly, then put the photo into the drawer and locked it.
Ji Fanghuai: “…”
Ji Fanghuai was speechless, but she realized something.
She wasn’t at all like a qualified girlfriend or fiancée. She didn’t even have a photo of Jiang Zhi. Her only photo with someone else was with Jin Lin.
“Shall we take a photo together?”
“Okay.” Jiang Zhi took out her phone and took a satisfying photo with Ji Fanghuai, their faces pressed close.
Ji Fanghuai also noticed that the book Jiang Zhi was reading had changed from The Psychology of Sleeping Together to The Psychology of a Certain Expression. She had read that book before and thought it was useless with low practical value.
Ji Fanghuai realized she had been too meticulous lately, always noticing minor details, all of them related to Jiang Zhi. How strange.
Jiang Zhi opened the thermos and, after thinking for a moment, said, “You should drink this soup instead.”
“It was specially stewed for you,” Ji Fanghuai refused.
She had been overloaded with nutritional supplements after leaving the hospital and now had PTSD from tonic soups.
Jiang Zhi shook her head and said, “This soup is too nourishing. I’m in a special period right now and can’t drink it.”
A woman’s special period—Ji Fanghuai immediately understood, but a question suddenly occurred to her.
“Aren’t you hemophobic?”
