After Losing My Memory, I Suddenly Had A Fiancée - Chapter 10
“It’s alright, you used to do this all the time.” Jiang Zhi’s casual remark left endless room for imagination.
Ji Fanghuai froze on the bed, so embarrassed she felt like she could dig a three-bedroom, one-living-room apartment with her toes. Perhaps they used to be like this often, causing her body to habitually lean against Jiang Zhi.
“I’m getting up.” Ji Fanghuai scrambled out of bed, completely unwilling to stay in the same room with Jiang Zhi any longer.
The house had already been cleaned by the maid. Ji Fanghuai, bored, started teasing the cat. Xixi was very clingy and kept trying to burrow into her arms.
Ji Fanghuai was having a great time playing with the feather wand.
Jiang Zhi slowly walked out of the room, changed into a light purple loungewear set, her hair casually draped over her shoulders. She seemed to be in a very pleasant mood.
Ji Fanghuai, recalling the embarrassing incident on the bed, dared not look at her and focused entirely on the cat. However, the cat, which was playing happily moments ago, suddenly bristled up, showing its claws and snarling at Jiang Zhi.
Ji Fanghuai looked at Jiang Zhi curiously and said, “It’s so fierce.”
“Because you’ve returned, it has a backer, so it doesn’t need me, its provider, anymore,” Jiang Zhi said nonchalantly, picking up Xixi to give it a bath.
Ji Fanghuai followed behind. During the bath, Xixi struggled, swaying left and right, splashing water everywhere. Eventually, it raked its claws across the back of Jiang Zhi’s hand.
Four red lines instantly appeared on the fair skin of her hand.
Jiang Zhi looked at the bloody marks but ignored the culprit, the orange cat, and continued to clean it. Ji Fanghuai said anxiously, “How is it? Do you need a vaccine?”
“No need, I’ll just disinfect it later.”
After the bath, Xixi was still meowing loudly, looking ferocious as if it wanted to eat someone. Ji Fanghuai gently chastised, “Bad cat.”
Jiang Zhi went to the medicine cabinet and took out iodine. Ji Fanghuai, with sharp eyes, noticed some stomach medicine. She asked, “Do you have a stomach problem?”
“Young people these days mostly have some kind of stomach issue,” Jiang Zhi said indifferently, taking a cotton swab to disinfect her hand. Her face looked a bit pale.
Seeing her lips tightly pressed, Ji Fanghuai asked, “Does it hurt a lot?”
“No,” Jiang Zhi shook her head. “Compared to the injury on your head, this is nothing.”
Ji Fanghuai thought, Why compare it to the injury on my head? She rummaged through the medication and said, “These don’t look like ordinary stomach medicines.”
“Mm, when the company was just starting up, I often worked overtime and was too busy to eat three regular meals, so I developed a stomach problem,” Jiang Zhi finished speaking and looked directly at Ji Fanghuai.
It seemed that sick people always hoped to have the person they liked by their side. Ji Fanghuai tentatively offered, “Then, should I supervise you to eat on time from now on?”
“Mm.” Jiang Zhi curved her lips, looking very pleased.
Ji Fanghuai realized she had been tricked again and turned to look at the cat. The little rascal, after being fierce for a long time, was now nestled miserably in her arms, letting her pet it.
Jiang Zhi glanced at the happy girl and cat, then looked at the scratches on the back of her hand, but said nothing.
Ji Fanghuai stroked the cat for a while and didn’t see Jiang Zhi. She felt a kind of “imprinting” anxiety, always uneasy when Jiang Zhi wasn’t in sight.
She then found Jiang Zhi washing her Ji Fanghuai’s underwear. Her face flushed, and her heart pounded. It was difficult to face the situation calmly.
“I can do it myself. Your hand is still injured,” Ji Fanghuai felt like she was about to suffer a social death. Why was she always so mortified in front of Jiang Zhi?
Although she had been through enough in the hospital, she was helpless then. It was different now.
Jiang Zhi said, “It’s fine, I’ll be done in a moment.”
Ji Fanghuai quietly retreated to the living room sofa to play dead.
Xin Ling only woke up at noon. Her curly hair was messy, and she came out in a tank top. Her figure was stunning, with clearly defined muscles.
Ji Fanghuai felt that, compared to Xin Ling, her own body was probably just “sub-healthy.”
“What are you looking at? Go look at Jiang Zhi,” Xin Ling glared at Ji Fanghuai weakly, looking fierce, probably due to a morning temper.
Ji Fanghuai quickly turned her head, not arguing with her, and continued petting Xixi in her arms.
“I don’t want to go to work,” Xin Ling rubbed her hair irritably. “Why should a rich second generation like me have to work? Is there any law or justice left?”
“Just go keep an eye on things at the company for a few days,” Jiang Zhi said gently. “I’ll be back once Fanghuai feels better.”
“You said that yourself.” Xin Ling accepted with a heavy sigh of resignation, then instantly collapsed onto the sofa and fell asleep again.
Ji Fanghuai watched this move, completely stunned.
Jiang Zhi covered Xin Ling with a light blanket. “She must have stayed up all night again. Let her sleep a little longer.”
Xin Ling lay there for a while, then groggily got up to wash, and left without eating anything.
Ji Fanghuai said to Jiang Zhi, “Why don’t you go to work? I’m fine at home. I have Xixi to keep me company, so I won’t be bored. Otherwise…”
Otherwise, she was worried that Xin Ling’s work state might lead the company to bankruptcy at any moment.
“She’s deliberately putting on a show for you,” Jiang Zhi was already familiar with Xin Ling’s little tricks. “When we started the business together, she was full of energy. She could still go negotiate business after staying up for two consecutive nights.”
A rich second generation works that hard?
Ji Fanghuai genuinely felt that Jiang Zhi and the people around her were not ordinary. Jiang Zhi deliberately initiated a chat, saying, “Guess why we started this gaming company?”
“You two really like games?” Ji Fanghuai guessed.
Jiang Zhi shook her head. “It was because a niche game that Xin Ling liked changed its development team and the game went downhill. She then thought of pulling us together to make games. Of course, making games is not that easy.”
Ji Fanghuai listened with great interest: “Then what?”
“Then Xin Ling used her father’s influence to acquire that small company, which is now Fangyuan. I had some money at the time, so I also invested, but essentially, I was still working for her. Later, she lost interest in making games and handed the company over to me.”
“The money your stepfather gave you?” Ji Fanghuai remembered Xin Ling saying that Jiang Zhi’s stepfather hadn’t mistreated her financially, but it shouldn’t have been enough for investment.
“I won a prize for a project in college, and I saved some later. My… my stepfather only gave me living expenses.” Jiang Zhi skipped over the details of the entrepreneurial process. “In short, this company is our hard work. Don’t worry, with Xin Ling watching over it, nothing major will happen.”
“Mmm.” Ji Fanghuai felt that Jiang Zhi and her friends all had their own memories of struggle and ambition. Unfortunately, she had none. But she didn’t want to bring up the depressing topic right now.
Still, she felt very sad. After all, a person is largely composed of memories, and she had lost hers.
Soon after Xin Ling left, the private nutritionist hired by Jiang Zhi arrived.
“Hi, Fanghuai.”
The nutritionist greeted Ji Fanghuai warmly.
Ji Fanghuai realized that everyone knew her, but she didn’t know herself.
“Hello.”
“I heard you lost your memory. Let me introduce myself first. I am Sun Wen, your private nutritionist.” Sun Wen said, then took out a notebook.
“I’ve read your physical examination report. My suggestion is to avoid too much grease, and you should use minimal seasonings. Did the doctor emphasize this?”
Ji Fanghuai wasn’t sure, but she knew the common sense that some things couldn’t be eaten after surgery.
She said uncertainly, “I suppose so.”
Sun Wen rubbed her forehead and said, “I’ll just ask Jiang Zhi.”
She seemed very busy and was moving quickly.
Before Ji Fanghuai could react, the two of them started discussing in the kitchen, talking about changing cooking methods and ingredients.
Ji Fanghuai was utterly confused and was ordered to watch television in the living room, specifically a show about a national treasure.
Sun Wen strictly arranged the meals according to Ji Fanghuai’s physical condition, taking all of Ji Fanghuai’s dietary restrictions into account. Finally, she and Jiang Zhi brought out the day’s dinner.
“It’s all green,” Ji Fanghuai said casually.
Sun Wen said, “Jiang Zhi doesn’t like red food, and you don’t like meat, so we had to go with green. If you want to supplement protein, you can eat more eggs and beans.”
Ji Fanghuai said gratefully, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. I’ve already arranged the eating schedule for the following days. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.” Sun Wen raised an eyebrow at Jiang Zhi. “I’ll be leaving now.”
Jiang Zhi politely said, “Why don’t you stay a little longer and leave after dinner?”
Sun Wen, with a knowing hint, slipped away quickly: “Afraid of losing my job.”
“She seems very afraid of you,” Ji Fanghuai joked.
It seemed like everyone was afraid of Jiang Zhi, but Ji Fanghuai thought Jiang Zhi had always been gentle.
“She just has other things to attend to,” Jiang Zhi smiled. “She’s one of the friends I mentioned to you earlier.”
Ji Fanghuai remembered that she only had Lin Mianmian on her WeChat, and said casually, “You have a lot of friends.”
Jiang Zhi paused and said, “You have friends too. Friends are hard to come by.”
Ji Fanghuai didn’t believe it: “Even if I do, I don’t recognize any of them.”
Jiang Zhi thought for a moment and suggested, “Then should I arrange for you to meet them?”
Ji Fanghuai didn’t understand and asked, “What do you mean?”
“Just meet your friends. Although you might not recognize them, they probably don’t know you have amnesia, either,” Jiang Zhi slowly added. “No one has contacted me recently.”
Is that what you call a good friend?
They must just be ordinary acquaintances.
Ji Fanghuai asked, “Was I close to them normally?”
“So-so,” Jiang Zhi said seriously.
“Then forget it.” Ji Fanghuai didn’t want to interact with people she didn’t know. Besides, it had been a month since she was hospitalized and discharged, and no one had inquired about her, which meant she didn’t have many friends usually.
Even if she did, they were likely just nodding acquaintances.
Ji Fanghuai was starting to suspect that she was the type of person who forgot about her friends as soon as she was in a relationship.
A faint smile swam in Jiang Zhi’s eyes, but she regretted, “Then I won’t arrange it.”
