After Little Sweet Omega Runs with the Ball - Chapter 48
The result of Ji Mingxue’s calculated antics was being kicked out by Song Shuangtian. Guanguan was kicked out along with her.
They stood at the hospital entrance.
“Guanguan, your mommy does not want you anymore,” Ji Mingxue said.
“My mommy does not want you anymore, either,” Guanguan retorted.
When Lu Xing drove up, she saw two figures squatting by the hospital’s greenery. Her big boss was plucking leaves from the bushes. The future heir of M Group had plucked leaves scattered on top of her head. They looked quite miserable. Lu Xing thought she had mistaken them for someone else, so she slowly backed the car up.
Ji Mingxue patted the dust off her clothes and picked up the little girl with one hand. “Let us go.”
Guanguan looked toward the hospital longingly. “But Mommy’s body has not recovered yet.”
Before leaving, Ji Mingxue had specifically asked the doctor about Song Shuangtian’s condition. She felt relieved after learning that Song Shuangtian would fully recover with proper rest.
“Your mommy’s condition will only worsen if she sees me,” Ji Mingxue said, pouting helplessly.
There was a faint red mark on the corner of her mouth where Song Shuangtian had slapped her. The force had not been great; it was like the bite of a kitten that had been provoked. Ji Mingxue did not think she had done anything excessive. She had merely brushed her teeth against Song Shuangtian’s abdomen and then wanted to taste the Omega’s rich milk. It made no sense that her own child had eaten enough while she, as the wife, had never even seen it.
Lu Xing’s forehead throbbed. “Are we going to the office?”
As the Vice President, Lu Xing was currently managing the company. Ji Mingxue, the big boss, had become a hands-off manager. Even though Lu Xing was ambitious, she could not handle the current workload. Their big boss truly did not do any work at all.
“Wait a moment,” Ji Mingxue said. She found a list of addresses in her memos. “Go to the nursing home. Also, have the housekeeper pack my and Guanguan’s luggage and send it over.”
Lu Xing adjusted her glasses. “Fine.”
Guanguan thought she saw large beads of cold sweat on the older sister’s forehead. Lu Xing gripped the steering wheel tightly, finally losing her patience.
“So, President Ji, do you really not plan to return to the office?” Lu Xing asked.
“I have been quite busy lately,” Ji Mingxue replied.
Veins appeared on the back of Lu Xing’s hand. “Busy with what?”
“I am busy with work for Reborn,” Ji Mingxue said.
Lu Xing was almost laughed at by her own anger. She did not know whether to praise Ji Mingxue for being kind-hearted or for being willing to sell her labor to chase her wife.
Ji Mingxue looked at the scenery outside. “I am now the Secretary to the Chairman of Reborn.”
She looked quite proud when she said this. The position of Secretary to the Chairman was not low; it was the first step toward the Board of Directors. No matter how one looked at it, she was a high-level executive at Reborn. The Alpha, who was acting very arrogant, had completely forgotten that she only had one identity card and no other actual authority.
Lu Xing told herself to remain calm. “I sincerely wish President Ji a bright future and a steady promotion. While you are getting promoted and receiving raises, please do not forget that there is a pile of work at headquarters waiting to be processed.”
Lu Xing dropped Ji Mingxue off at the nursing home. She could not understand why the once cold and powerful Alpha had turned into this. It seemed that love makes people dizzy.
The rain had stopped. The green leaves were refreshed, and the air smelled of soil and grass. It was hard to believe that such a place, resembling a Jiangnan garden, existed in the capital. Streams flowed among the rocks, and koi larger than an arm swam within them. When the wind blew, the bamboo forest rustled.
“Mother, go in quickly. I want Great Aunt to hug me,” Guanguan said.
Ji Mingxue picked up the child. For once, she was nervous. She paced by the stream until the receptionist could not stand it anymore and approached her.
“Hello, is there anything I can help you with?” the receptionist asked.
Ji Mingxue coughed twice. “I am here to see Mrs. Qiu.”
Mrs. Qiu was the sister of that woman. She was the elder who had raised Song Shuangtian. An ugly daughter-in-law must eventually meet her in-laws. Ji Mingxue closed her eyes for a moment and whispered, “Please lead the way.”
The housekeeper had been instructed by Song Shuangtian long ago and smiled as she led the two of them. “Are you two related to Mrs. Qiu?”
“I am the daughter-in-law who has not yet married into the family,” Ji Mingxue replied.
The housekeeper smiled but then paused. Not yet married? But they already had a child? Her gaze fell on the Alpha, who was carrying luxury gift boxes. The little girl in the Alpha’s arms was fair and plump.
“Mrs. Qiu is famous among the residents for her good temper,” the housekeeper said. “I have never seen a resident as gentle and polite as her.”
Ji Mingxue only smiled. The housekeeper led her to a two-story building and left.
Gentle? Easy to talk to? Ji Mingxue stood at the door for a moment to mentally prepare herself. Before she could knock, Guanguan shouted at the top of her lungs.
“Great Aunt, I am here!”
Mrs. Qiu was resting on the balcony. She opened her eyes slowly. “Guanguan is here. Go open the door.”
She had seen Guanguan being held by another woman from the balcony. She had thought it was Song Shuangtian, but she smelled Alpha pheromones in the air.
“So it is her,” Mrs. Qiu said.
The sunlight fell on the lady wrapped in a white blanket. Her gray hair was tied in a neat bun, and she wore a silk cheongsam. Time had taken her youth but not her elegance. Ji Mingxue carried Guanguan upstairs, wearing a perfect, obedient smile. “Madam.”
“Just call me Aunt,” Mrs. Qiu said.
“Hello, Aunt,” Ji Mingxue said obediently.
Mrs. Qiu found it a bit funny to see Ji Mingxue so restrained. She had seen this junior in professional settings before, and she was not usually this much like an obedient rabbit. Mrs. Qiu motioned for Ji Mingxue to sit.
“So you are the one,” Mrs. Qiu said.
Ji Mingxue thought her aunt would mention her social status, but the woman said instead, “You are that person with the blonde hair who tried so hard to enter the Reborn building?”
Ji Mingxue’s smile froze.
“What is blonde hair?” Guanguan asked, looking up in confusion.
“Go play over there,” Ji Mingxue said.
Guanguan took two pieces of chocolate from her mother and ran into the yard. The Alpha sat uncomfortably on the chair. She had not felt this much pressure even when facing her parents about the group’s losses. She looked at Mrs. Qiu’s eyes, which looked like that woman’s.
“I am sorry. It was my fault,” Ji Mingxue said.
Mrs. Qiu sipped her tea slowly. “Drink.”
Ji Mingxue took the teacup with both hands. She looked extremely humble. Mrs. Qiu found her appearance amusing as she stroked a white cat. “Do not be nervous. I held you when you were a child.”
Ji Mingxue became even more humble.
“M Group has been managed well over the years. We have seen your strength. I am at ease leaving Song Shuangtian to you,” Mrs. Qiu said.
Ji Mingxue’s smile became more confident. “Do not worry, Aunt. I will give you a portion of M Group’s shares as a gesture of sincerity. Our company is working hard to cooperate with Reborn to achieve a win-win situation.”
“You are indeed capable to have acquired ST,” Mrs. Qiu said with a smile.
Ji Mingxue’s smile froze again. She could not explain her behavior using business terms here. “I am sorry. I was blind.”
Mrs. Qiu changed the subject. “You have already done your best by giving the Shuang Series to Reborn. I personally believe this matter should not become a barrier between the two families.”
Ji Mingxue nearly lost her breath; Mrs. Qiu’s words were full of twists and turns. Only then did Mrs. Qiu notice the luxury boxes and the black velvet gift box. Inside the velvet box was expensive jewelry. Ji Mingxue’s forehead was sweating, and her fingers gripped the tea saucer tightly. The retribution had finally come for her.
Mrs. Qiu looked at Guanguan in the yard. “If not for you, Song Shuangtian would still not know she is an Omega. It is a good story that she fell in love with you while interning at your group.”
Ji Mingxue could only laugh awkwardly. What was she doing back then? She had been taking advantage of a new employee.
Mrs. Qiu handed her a plate of cakes. “Are you sweating? Is it hot here?”
“It is a bit hot,” Ji Mingxue said, wiping her forehead.
“Is it? The indoor air conditioning is only twenty degrees,” Mrs. Qiu noted.
Ji Mingxue ate the cake without tasting it. Mrs. Qiu smiled and said, “It is just that the founder of Reborn getting pregnant before marriage is not good news, is it?”
“I am already preparing for the engagement and the signing ceremony,” Ji Mingxue replied.
The two of them chatted pleasantly. Ji Mingxue was very observant, serving tea, measuring blood pressure, and making preparations for surgery according to the doctor’s requirements.
“Tingnan spoke highly of you. I trust her judgment,” Mrs. Qiu said.
Ji Mingxue’s hand paused, and a look of nostalgia flashed across her face. “It is a pity.”
“It is a pity she did not cherish Song Shuangtian. She was not suited to be a mother,” Mrs. Qiu added. “So you need to be twice as good to Song Shuangtian.”
“I understand,” Ji Mingxue said.
Mrs. Qiu could not eat before her surgery, so she gave her meal to Ji Mingxue. The latter ate the bland food as if it were a delicacy.
Suddenly, Ji Mingxue saw a silver flash in the air. She reached out and caught a diamond ring in her palm.
“This ring has been passed down in the Qiu family for five generations. It is yours now,” Mrs. Qiu said kindly. “If I find out you are not good to Song Shuangtian, I will take it back.”
Receiving the family ring was equivalent to getting the approval of an elder. Ji Mingxue nodded solemnly. “I understand. Please rest assured.”
On the other side of the planet, Yuan Yin asked, “You really let Ji Mingxue see your aunt?”
Song Shuangtian was sitting in a swaying off-road vehicle. Her head hit the roof from time to time. “Ji Mingxue will make herself liked by my aunt.”
“Are you not afraid my aunt will beat her up?” Yuan Yin asked.
Song Shuangtian found the idea interesting. “An Alpha’s body is strong; she is not afraid of being beaten.”
Song Shuangtian’s face turned red when she mentioned Ji Mingxue. She had truly spoiled Ji Mingxue, who insisted on clinging to her to taste what Guanguan had tasted. She was past her breastfeeding period; where would the milk come from? It was shameless.
Song Shuangtian saw the messages about Ji Mingxue sent by those taking care of her aunt. In the video, Ji Mingxue kept her head down and looked extremely obedient. Song Shuangtian laughed until she was doubled over. The driver began to wonder if he was driving too fast and causing her problems.
“If this video were released, I wonder if M Group’s stock price could be maintained,” Yuan Yin said.
Song Shuangtian wondered why Yuan Yin was always thinking about the stock price. Yuan Yin seemed to guess her thoughts. “I have calculated that the luck of you and your old flame has been good lately.”
Song Shuangtian’s face grew hot at the mention of an “old flame.” What was so good about it? Calling her “Mommy” and fighting with the child for food was good? She was a pervert.
After arriving at the mining area, Song Shuangtian conducted her inspection as usual. Order in Africa is a matter of absolute jungle law. Even if a mining area is well-built, there will still be safety hazards.
“What do you mean? You have only dug up these things in the past six months,” Yuan Yin said, her face turning ugly. She pointed at the person in charge and spoke in a mix of English, French, and local languages. “Do not try to fool me. Reborn has already obtained the actual operating rights of this place.”
The foreigner’s face turned ugly. He used his hands to say that these were the best he could provide within his authority, which made Yuan Yin even angrier. Song Shuangtian tried to get Yuan Yin to shut up, but she almost became a target of her anger. Song Shuangtian had not realized Yuan Yin was so talented with languages.
As Reborn grew, it would need a large number of gems, and only M Group had the richest resources in the world. This area had been given to her by Ji Mingxue. Song Shuangtian raised her hand to stop Yuan Yin.
“Forget it. I will call the overseas branch of M Group now,” Song Shuangtian said. She was angry that they had traveled so far and could not even enter the mining area.
The fat man in charge turned pale when he saw Song Shuangtian making a call. These miners originally looked down on Reborn because they knew nothing about the new brand, but being associated with M Group was different.
“We can discuss this,” the man said.
“Discuss? This place belonged to us in the first place,” Yuan Yin said, her anger reigniting. She began to suspect that M Group had some local armed forces. She saw the guns held by the miners, and her face turned even uglier.
Song Shuangtian remained calm until the call went through, and the man’s face became tense. Before the call ended, explosions were heard in the distance. Yuan Yin turned pale.
In less than ten minutes, the miners with guns and the man were forced to their knees.
“I am very sorry. Mine No. 4 was taken over by local forces a few days ago. These people are not the original workers of the mine,” a muscular Alpha said in fluent Mandarin.
“Who are you?” Song Shuangtian asked.
“We are from M Group. Please come in. President Ji said we must entertain you well,” the Alpha replied.
A piece of shrapnel had just grazed Yuan Yin’s cheek.
“Entertain us well? Do you have a misunderstanding of that phrase?” Yuan Yin asked.
Song Shuangtian and Yuan Yin looked at each other, both feeling complex emotions. Managing a jewelry brand required controlling the source of the mines. M Group’s power was far greater than they had imagined. At least Song Shuangtian could not produce a mercenary group right now.
After hearing that M Group had gifted this mine to Reborn, the Alpha in camouflage smiled. “Rest assured, M Group will be responsible for the security here.”
The Alpha patted a pile of sapphire ore. In another large plastic frame were sapphires that had already been cut. They were piled up in a basket as if they were cheap goods. Then, the inspection team contacted a transport worker to carry the box away by helicopter.
“This gem mine can be excavated for at least another hundred years. Ji Mingxue really gave it to you?” Yuan Yin asked.
The Alpha in camouflage looked at Song Shuangtian.
“Is there something wrong?” the Omega asked.
“I am sorry. I am just curious. Everyone is saying that President Ji has a childhood sweetheart who is her Omega fiancée, but they had to separate because of family obstacles. She fled and she pursued; she could not escape. They finally got together after many hardships. Are you that Omega?” the Alpha asked.
“Where did you hear that rumor?” Song Shuangtian asked, her mouth twitching.
“Everyone is saying that,” the Alpha replied.
Song Shuangtian was furious. It was all nonsense!
“I also heard that when President Ji did not have her Omega lover to accompany her, she lost weight and suffered from insomnia. She searched for her lover all over the world but could not get any news. Her body was failing day by day. She finally saw her lover in a dream, smelled her familiar pheromones, and embraced her,” the Alpha added.
Song Shuangtian thought Ji Mingxue was truly crazy. Who would dare to spread such things without Ji Mingxue’s permission? A lingering love story? Let her keep dreaming. This rumor had even reached Africa.
Song Shuangtian wore a cold expression on her way back from Africa. When she reached the nursing home, her aunt had already finished her surgery.
“Shh, Aunt is already asleep,” Ji Mingxue said, standing in front of her. “The surgery was very successful. You do not need to worry.”
“Is ‘Aunt’ a name you can call her?” Song Shuangtian asked.
“Mrs. Qiu has already agreed. I have been given a status,” Ji Mingxue said, showing her the family ring.
Song Shuangtian’s expression became even colder. “Guess what would happen if my aunt knew about the love stories you spread. Would she cut off your finger and take back the ring?”
Ji Mingxue’s smile froze. “What love story?”
Song Shuangtian looked at her coldly. “She fled and she pursued? She lost weight and suffered from insomnia? Childhood sweethearts? Was Ji Mingxue crazy? Could an Alpha’s pheromones really control a person’s brain? What kind of ridiculous scandal could reach a place as remote as Africa?”
“Forget all that. Tiantian, I miss you,” Ji Mingxue said.
Her aunt was taking a nap in the next room. Ji Mingxue pressed Song Shuangtian against the wall and kissed her lips. A person’s lips were still soft and warm no matter how cold her expression was.
“Tiantian, I am working hard to be a qualified daughter-in-law. Should you not give me a little reward?” Ji Mingxue asked.
The Alpha’s breath surrounded the Omega. Song Shuangtian did not dare to make a sound. She bit her lip as Ji Mingxue kissed her neck and shoulder.
“Enough, Ji Mingxue! Aunt is sleeping next door!” Song Shuangtian whispered through gritted teeth.
Ji Mingxue’s teeth brushed against her shoulder strap. “It is fine. We will keep our voices down. I heard you encountered some unpleasant things at the mining area. I am here to comfort my fiancée.”
Ji Mingxue’s kiss fell on Song Shuangtian’s heart. “Let me please you, okay?”
