After I Transmigrated into the Novel, I made the Heroine Fall for Me - Chapter 49
Hearing the voices, they looked up in terror at the dozen men standing at the emergency stairwell entrance and instinctively stepped back.
The four young girls clung to each other, trembling as they cautiously retreated.
Their faces barely held back the fear welling inside them, tears glistening in their eyes. Their pearly teeth clenched their petal-like lips, red as rouge yet pale with tension.
“Jie!”
The long-haired girl had barely opened her mouth when another covered it with her hand.
They knew there was no escape today but Fang Qingying was different. She hadn’t been spotted yet.
At first, they had suspected Fang Qingying was one of the enemy, but that didn’t seem to be the case.
“One little bitch is missing?”
The leader of the men eyed the girls in the hallway, counting them with a pointed finger. Only four.
“Tell us where the fifth one is, and you’ll suffer less,” the man said coldly, scanning the four of them. His tone was conversational, but his words were an unmistakable threat.
“We don’t know,” the short-haired girl blurted, shielding Fang Qingying behind the other three, her voice strained with defiance.
“Really don’t know? Or pretending?” The man’s face darkened as he moved to push open another door. “If I find out you’re lying, hmph.”
That icy snort sent another wave of terror through them.
Weak and helpless, how could they possibly stand against a dozen men?
The short-haired girl flicked a glance at Fang Qingying, silently urging her to hurry inside.
But Fang Qingying remained calm, leisurely gathering her loose hair into a bun with a hair tie, her gaze drifting over her own clothes.
Thankfully, she was dressed casually today.
Fang Qingying lifted her eyes slightly, a cold glint flashing within them as she silently asked 888 in her mind:
Do you think I can take them?
888: Commencing data analysis.
888: Analysis complete.
888: Qingqing, your success rate is only 30%.
Before transmigrating, Fang Qingying had been in excellent physical condition and trained in self-defense but the original host’s body was frail.
Fang Qingying: Have you detected Gu Shengxiao’s location?
She had always been confident, confident that Gu Shengxiao would find her.
But the current situation was a little tricky.
Fang Qingying took a deep breath and patted the short-haired girl’s shoulder, as if to reassure her.
“If I win, we can leave.”
With that, she pulled the four trembling, rabbit-like girls behind her and faced the enemy.
“I’m no saint, but I don’t like playing the coward either,” Fang Qingying said lightly, shrugging as if the men before her were nothing more than wooden dummies.
In her eyes, not a single one of them could instill fear in her.
“Well, well if it isn’t Miss Fang?” The man smirked upon seeing her. “What, has the Fang family fallen so low that their young mistress has to sell herself now?”
“Hah. You know who I am, yet you still dare to lay hands on me?” Fang Qingying sneered, a flicker of wariness in her gaze. “You must have quite the backing.”
If she couldn’t get out of this now, she might never leave at all.
888: “Go Qingqing! I’ll back you up!”
In Fang Qingying’s mind, 888 transformed into a tiny, chubby figure, waving its little fists with a fierce expression.
“Who would dare? Didn’t Miss Fang deliver herself right to us? How could we possibly refuse? Though I wonder how Miss Fang tastes.”
After speaking, the man signaled the people behind him to seize the five girls.
Why use a sledgehammer to crack a nut? Especially when it was just five little girls there was no need for so many people.
As for Fang Qingying, she might just be an unexpected bonus.
Several men approached them, leering with disgusting smiles, rubbing their hands together in excitement.
Fang Qingying’s eyes turned cold. The moment one of those grubby hands reached for her, she swiftly grabbed it and twisted hard.
A sharp crack sounded. When Fang Qingying released his hand, the man howled in pain, crouching on the ground clutching his wrist.
The others seemed stunned they hadn’t expected Fang Qingying to have such skills.
“Take her down first.”
After exchanging glances, they all lunged at Fang Qingying.
But…
Clearly, they were no match for her.
Fang Qingying delivered a powerful kick to one of the charging men, sending him flying backward.
In the narrow stairwell, she had the natural advantage.
“Attack together! How can one little girl take on so many grown men?” The leader’s face darkened as he watched his men get effortlessly knocked down by Fang Qingying.
He had brought over a dozen men, never expecting that Fang Qingying, this pampered young lady, would be so formidable.
If they failed to bring Fang Qingying and the other four back, it might implicate their superiors.
The Fang family of Yanjing alone was trouble enough, but what they truly feared was exposing the larger operation behind this.
At this thought, the man spat in frustration. Which idiot provoked the Fang family’s young lady?
“Is this all you’ve got?” Fang Qingying shook her slightly numb hand, sweeping them with a disdainful glance.
She signaled the other girls to move further up the stairs to avoid being taken hostage and hindering her movements.
“Miss Fang is quite impressive. But I wonder how much longer you can last.” The man clapped his hands, ordering his men to push further into the stairwell.
“Drag her out.”
With that command, he stepped aside, waiting for his men to deliver good news.
“Yes!”
The group answered in unison.
“Sis, should we just run?” A long-haired girl timidly tugged at another girl’s sleeve, whispering fearfully.
“No escape. Stay alert, don’t get caught.” Fang Qingying glanced at them sideways and instructed, “I can’t handle so many alone, so you’ll need to fight too.”
Watching the approaching enemies, Fang Qingying flexed her arm and called out to 888 in her mind.
Fang Qingying: 888, help me.
888: Got it! Go Qingqing! Beat them all down!
When Gu Shengxiao finally found Fang Qingying with her team, she saw her sitting on the stairs, panting heavily.
Around her lay over a dozen men, groaning in pain with injuries ranging from light to severe.
Without hesitation, Gu Shengxiao stepped over the fallen men and, under Fang Qingying’s faintly smiling gaze, pulled her into a tight embrace.
Her long, delicate eyelashes trembled slightly, like butterfly wings ready to take flight, while deep within her eyes lay a well of profound fear. She pressed her lips together, her voice quivering as she asked Fang Qingying,
“Are you okay?”
It seemed she had arrived a step too late.
The thought alone made Gu Shengxiao feel as though her heart were being sliced by a knife.
Fang Qingying curved her eyes into a gentle smile and reached out to soothe Gu Shengxiao. “I’m fine, just a little tired.” Fighting really took too much out of her.
If it had been her original body, she might not have felt so exhausted, but the physical condition of the original host was simply too poor.
Without 888’s assistance, she would have collapsed from fatigue long ago.
“I’ll take you home,” Gu Shengxiao said, pulling her into an embrace. “If you’re tired, sleep for a while. You’ll be home by the time you wake up.”
Fang Qingying lifted her arms to loop them around Gu Shengxiao’s neck and softly murmured, “Okay.”
With that, she relaxed entirely, surrendering herself completely to Gu Shengxiao’s care. Before long, her eyelids fluttered shut as she drifted into a peaceful slumber.
The four young girls standing nearby stared at Gu Shengxiao with barely contained excitement, as if they had just encountered their idol.
“Gu… Gu, the Movie Queen!” they whispered in unison, their voices hushed to avoid disturbing Fang Qingying, who was now fast asleep in Gu Shengxiao’s arms.
“And you are?” Gu Shengxiao swept a cool glance over the four of them.
Judging by their appearance, they, like Fang Qingying, had been abducted by this group but had fortunately escaped unscathed.
“We were all tricked into coming here. It was this sister who saved us.”
“Hmm,” Gu Shengxiao acknowledged with a nod. “Do you have somewhere to go?”
The girls exchanged glances before answering in unison, “No.”
It wasn’t that they truly had nowhere to return to, but rather that they didn’t dare, who knew what might await them if they went back?
Gu Shengxiao replied indifferently, “I suggest you report this to the police, but whether you do or not is entirely up to you.”
The only person she was concerned about was Fang Qingying; the others were of no consequence to her.
However, there was one thing she intended to do tear this wretched hotel apart.
The girls looked at one another again, finding the same resolve mirrored in each other’s eyes.
“Young Mistress, what should we do now?”
“If there’s trouble, of course, we call the police, right?”
Gu Shengxiao answered without turning her head after all, she was a law-abiding citizen.
“Yes, Young Mistress.”
A man dressed in a bodyguard’s uniform and wearing sunglasses pulled out his phone from his pocket.
Gu Shengxiao and Shen Lixie’s group crossed paths in the elevator.
Shen Lixie, who had arrived in a hurry, looked disheveled, his hair tousled, and a thin layer of fog clung to the lenses of his gold-rimmed glasses, likely from the heat.
Upon seeing Gu Shengxiao, Shen Lixie instinctively adjusted his glasses with a finger, his dark eyes brimming with concern for Fang Qingying.
He looked down at Fang Qingying, who was sleeping soundly in Gu Shengxiao’s arms. “Is Xiao Ying alright?”
“Just tired,” Gu Shengxiao replied with a shake of her head.
Yet even as she spoke, her body tensed defensively, as if preparing for Shen Lixie to snatch Fang Qingying away from her.
Her long lashes lowered slightly, veiling the unreadable emotions in her eyes as she said coldly, “I’m taking Xiao Ying home.”
Shen Lixie laughed at that.
He removed his glasses to look at her, and without the barrier of the lenses, his gaze became even sharper.
He asked, “What exactly is your relationship with Xiao Ying? On what grounds are you taking my sister home?”
If it were any other time, Shen Lixie might have backed down, but under the current circumstances, he absolutely refused to yield.
Aside from Fang Qingyu, who was abroad on business and unaware of the situation, everyone in the Fang family was worried about Fang Qingying.
If he let Gu Shengxiao take her away, how could he possibly explain it to Uncle and Aunt Fang?
The fact that Fang Qingying had encountered trouble again and again under his protection made Shen Lixie particularly agitated.
If this weren’t happening in public, he might have even started cursing.
Which idiot dared to lay a hand on his sister? They must have a death wish.
“Instead of fighting me over her, don’t you want to know who’s behind this?”
