After Being Seduced by a Beautiful Bad Girl Omega - Chapter 3
She needed more, and more.
Pei Yuan was stunned: “Ah. Wait, what did you just say?”
Chen Zhixu gazed at her with a profound look.
She didn’t speak.
Instead, the system in her mind chimed in right on cue: “Host, she said to open the folding wheelchair and then help her up.”
Pei Yuan: “…”
I heard it, thank you very much.
Her gaze uncontrollably shifted down by an inch, landing on Chen Zhixu’s together and sideways-tilted legs.
A thin blanket was spread across her knees, folding into soft ripples at the bend, trailing down along the line of her legs and revealing a small slice of ankle.
The bone structure was slender and delicate, with the shoelaces winding across the back of her foot, casting a faint, cold glint in the light.
Pei Yuan took one look and immediately looked away.
She remembered that when they brushed past each other in the corridor, the other woman was clearly walking normally; she didn’t look like someone who needed a wheelchair at all.
Could she be injured somewhere?
Or perhaps, she just couldn’t walk for very long?
Under Chen Zhixu’s calm gaze, Pei Yuan silently swallowed back a whole circle of questions: “Alright.”
She unfolded the wheelchair, stepped back in front of Chen Zhixu, muttered a soft, “Pardon the offense,” bent down, and picked her up.
The person in her arms was soft beyond description, like a clump of cloud fluff that had just basked in the sun. As she was scooped up horizontally, she sank inward along the crook of Pei Yuan’s arm.
Pei Yuan’s arm stiffened for a split second, her breathing missed a beat, and her heartbeat quickened along with it.
She quietly turned her head away, attempting to stay a little further from the other person, even if just by a single centimeter. Yet Chen Zhixu abruptly raised her hand and hooked her neck.
Her arm wrapped around from behind Pei Yuan’s shoulder, her fingertips grazing the stray hairs at the nape of her neck, lightly yet firmly clasping her.
“Hold me steady.”
She said indifferently, “Don’t drop me.”
Pei Yuan’s brain crashed for approximately three seconds in that instant. She mechanically tightened her arms and mechanically replied, “Don’t worry, I won’t.”
Her long silver hair cascaded down, tangling around Pei Yuan’s lower arm and brushing across the back of her hand, feeling neither cold nor warm, neither itchy nor smooth.
Pei Yuan had never held anyone like this before, so she felt a little embarrassed, turning her face slightly away and not daring to look at the other person.
Chen Zhixu’s expression didn’t change much, though. She rustled and shifted slightly in her arms, her shoulder brushing against Pei Yuan’s chest.
Before Pei Yuan could react, Chen Zhixu suddenly raised the tip of her nose a little bit, moving close to the side of her neck.
Very close.
So close that Pei Yuan could feel her exhaled breath, warm and moist, landing in small puffs against her skin.
“Citrus?” Chen Zhixu said softly, her tone carrying a hint of uncertainty.
She quickly corrected herself, “Not quite. And yet there’s a hint of alcohol. Your pheromone is too faint; it’s very hard to tell.”
Pei Yuan laughed it off: “After all, I’m only a D-rank. My pheromones are probably about the same as soda pop, a little scent when you pop the cap, and then it’s gone after a moment.”
Chen Zhixu glanced at her sideways.
Pei Yuan felt inexplicably guilty. She hurriedly lowered her head, carefully placing the other person into the wheelchair and handing the blanket over.
Chen Zhixu nodded politely: “Thank you.”
Pei Yuan wanted to say something more, but before she could formulate her words, the two Alpha guards at the door had already walked in.
One of them circled around to the back of the wheelchair, gripping the handles, while the other respectfully guarded the side. From beginning to end, neither of them cast a single look in Pei Yuan’s direction.
At some point outside the door, several silver hover cars had parked, completely unmarked with tinted windows that were completely opaque.
The Alpha guards pushed Chen Zhixu into the very middle one, and then split up to board the guard vehicles at the front and rear.
The motorcade started up, one car after the other, silently driving into the flowing ribbons of light in the distance.
Pei Yuan stood with her hands in her pockets at the entrance of the coffee shop, watching them all the way as they faded into the distance.
The wind blew over from the end of the street, scattering the loose strands of hair on her forehead and blowing away the last lingering trace of floral fragrance in the air.
Pei Yuan lowered her head and looked at her own palms; they were empty, with nothing inside at all.
Ah, she forgot to ask.
Pei Yuan felt a sense of lingering regret.
What kind of flower was that, anyway?
On the other side, inside the car.
The streams of light outside the car window flashed past one by one, casting flowing shadows upon the glass.
The temperature inside the car was kept constant at twenty-three degrees, yet Chen Zhixu’s body kept getting hotter and hotter.
Her brows were tightly furrowed, her body arched forward, her collar stretched thin between her fingers, and her breathing gradually grew hurried.
A thin layer of sweat seeped out from her forehead, her silver hair damply clinging to the side of her face, and an unnatural, morbid flush blooming across her cheeks.
The petals were pushed open inch by inch by the heat, the color bleeding from the heart of the flower to the edges. It was stunningly beautiful, yet with just another gust of wind, the entire blossom would detach and crash into the mud.
After setting the autopilot, the Beta assistant turned back with a worried look: “Commander, are you feeling unwell?”
Chen Zhixu closed her eyes and rasped in a muffled voice: “Not well.”
The assistant carefully probed: “How did your contact with that Alpha go today? If she agrees to long-term pheromone soothing, it might help alleviate your symptoms.”
Chen Zhixu didn’t answer right away.
The interior of the car remained quiet for a few seconds, save for the low hum of the air conditioner and her trembling breath.
The accident from many years ago had virtually destroyed everything about Chen Zhixu. Her body had suffered irreversible damage, and most fatal of all was the Omega gland at the back of her neck.
She had long been trapped in a chaotic state resembling the rut period; her gland continuously overheated, spilling pheromones outward, and she could only rely on massive amounts of suppressants to forcefully keep it under control.
Medically speaking, this condition was known as glandular failure pheromone disorder.
With pheromone concentrations surging and crashing in an endless cycle, patients would gradually exhaust themselves through wave after wave of loss of control, right up until death.
The only known delayed remedy was to find an Alpha with a compatibility rate exceeding ninety percent, and through deep marking and long-term pheromone soothing, stabilize the operation of the gland.
That was precisely why, for so many years, the White Tower had been anxiously and sparing no effort to screen high-compatibility Alphas for her.
Batch after batch of Alpha candidates entered the testing room, and report after report was delivered to her desk.
Most of them didn’t even reach fifty percent, and the highest was merely sixty-one percent, falling far short of the standard required to soothe her.
Until that report showing 98.9% appeared.
Chen Zhixu cupped her hands together, her dense eyelashes trembling, making her pale cheeks appear even whiter: “Yes, but unfortunately.”
Her voice was weak, rasped a bit hoarsely by coughs: “She didn’t agree.”
The Beta assistant’s eyes widened abruptly: “What?!”
Such a pie falling straight from the sky, and that poor, cowardly little Alpha actually turned it down?!
The assistant was filled with righteous indignation: “Countless Alphas in the White Tower would kill just for the qualification to lay eyes on you, and she, a mere D-rank outsider, dares to be picky and choosey?”
Chen Zhixu curled up in the seat without uttering a response. Half of the blanket on her knees had slipped off, clutched tightly in her hands.
On her collar, there still lingered a trace of an extremely faint scent, almost imperceptible unless one sniffed closely.
It was citrus, and yet not entirely citrus, with a slight, faintly burning sweet freshness mixed with fruit wine hidden in the base notes.
Very faint.
So faint that she had to bring her collar close to the tip of her nose, pressing it against her lips, just to barely catch a tiny bit of it.
It wasn’t the scorching, agonizing heat of a pheromone disorder, but rather the warm, glowing sensation when wine first touches the lips.
The warmth slid down from her throat, filling her chest and slowly permeating outward.
Chen Zhixu buried her face into her collar, her breathing trembling as it fell upon that small patch of fabric that still retained the faint fragrance.
She needed more.
More of her scent.
Meanwhile, a certain impoverished and cowardly Alpha sat in the back row of the Maglev train, staring at her remaining balance and sighing non-stop.
“Miss Chen really is a good person; she paid for my coffee,” Pei Yuan sighed heavily. “If she could conveniently pay for my Maglev ticket too, that would be even better.”
The system: “Host, if you could moderately reduce your intake of fresh meat and vegetables, your financial situation would be much more comfortable.”
“System, there’s something I really don’t understand,” Pei Yuan crossed her arms. “In a place as advanced and developed as White Tower City, how can meat and vegetables be this expensive?”
The system: “I don’t quite understand either. Nutrient paste is quick, efficient, nutritionally balanced, and low in price. Why do you insist on buying expensive fresh ingredients?”
“System, you don’t get it.”
Pei Yuan shook her head solemnly.
“That nutrient paste stuff is simply too hard to drink. The taste is comparable to blending plastic bags and expired cold medicine together, and then mixing in two spoonfuls of dish soap.”
She continued to sigh: “Life is already hard enough, and I refuse to let my stomach suffer along with it. I guess my account balance will just have to take the hit.”
The system: “…”
Plastic bags plus cold medicine plus dish soap, what on earth would that actually taste like? The system could not comprehend.
When Pei Yuan returned to her apartment, it was already very late. She stir-fried some vegetables for herself, took a shower, and fell fast asleep.
And then it was a new day.
Pei Yuan woke up to the siren alarm clock, brushed her teeth and washed her face with a gloomy expression, and headed out for work.
Only this time, the moment she stepped into the office, her colleagues swarmed around her.
“Xiao Pei, Xiao Pei! You went on a blind date, right? Quick, tell us how it went!”
“That’s an SSS-rank Omega, you really hit the jackpot!”
Voices talking over one another instantly overwhelmed her. Pinned at the door, Pei Yuan squeezed out an honest, folksy smile.
“I saw her, all right. She really is a great beauty,” she shrugged. “Too bad she didn’t take a fancy to me.”
The office fell silent for a split second, followed immediately by a chorus of completely unsurprising sighs.
“Huh? She didn’t like you? Ah, well. SSS-rank, you know. Her standards must be high.”
“No worries, no worries, Xiao Pei. It was just a shot in the dark anyway.”
Her colleagues patted her shoulder in comfort before drifting back to their respective desks in twos and threes.
Lunch break.
Pei Yuan quietly slipped downstairs.
She returned to the pheromone testing room, where the tester was lounging in her chair, holding a bag of potato chips and crunching away loudly.
“Hello.”
Pei Yuan smiled courteously, “I’d like to test my pheromone rank again.”
The tester slapped a sample patch onto the back of her neck, waited a few seconds as the machine buzzed twice, and a thin report slip spat out from the printer.
Pheromone Rank: D Scent Classification: Citrus Family, Degraded Subtype Scent Description: Stale citrus profile, accompanied by significant oxidative spoilage characteristics, with a trace of bitter woody residue in the base notes.
Pei Yuan pinched the report, stared at the description on top twice, and fell into thought.
Degraded citrus.
Put simply, moldy orange scent.
She looked toward the chip-munching tester, deliberated for a moment, and asked carefully, “Um, could the test result be wrong? Like a machine malfunction or sample contamination?”
The tester’s brow immediately furrowed.
“Please, outsider,” she said with impatience, “All testing equipment is uniformly calibrated and maintained by the White Tower. How could it possibly be wrong?”
Pei Yuan apologized repeatedly, saying, “Sorry, sorry, it was just wishful thinking on my part.”
Holding that report, she walked out of the testing room and paused at the end of the corridor.
With a flick of her fingertip, the folded report gracefully traced an arc and dropped into the trash can.
Although the bizarre event of accidentally matching with an SSS-rank Omega had genuinely frightened Pei Yuan quite a bit, making her worry for a moment that her identity had been exposed,
Judging from this D-rank test report and the description of her pheromones, she should be safe for the time being.
Pei Yuan thought to herself in secret.
No matter what, she had successfully sneaked into White Tower City. Now she could only pray that the pheromone suppressants her teammates managed to get their hands on would prove somewhat reliable.
She must not mess up and blow her cover.
Otherwise, the three-million-stellar-credit bounty on her head across various city-states probably wouldn’t stay safely attached to her neck much longer.
