- Chapter 30.1 - She bit her neck.
A hand lingered by her ear. She was certain it wasn’t Qin Rong, but she was too weak to resist.
Thankfully, the person didn’t go too far. The hand rested on the side of her face, only occasionally pinching her earlobe. As the jarring, drill-like pain slowly faded, she began to realize whose hand it was.
Someone was calling her name, a voice full of urgency and concern. She longed to answer, but she couldn’t open her mouth.
An indescribable bitterness filled her mouth. She instinctively tried to push it away, but a hand cupped the back of her neck and a kiss landed on her lips, forcing the bitter, fishy medicine into her. She had no choice but to swallow.
Her mind was hazy and her temples throbbed. All she could do was swallow mechanically. Half the medicine spilled from her mouth, soaking both their clothes.
Qin Rong looked at her pale face, her eyes filled with undisguised heartache. Meanwhile, a sharp-eyed Fan Hua watched them, a wicked smile spreading across her face.
“What good is all this fighting?” Fan Hua sneered. “She will never belong to you.”
Qin Rong’s expression turned cold. “She isn’t anyone’s possession. She only belongs to herself.”
Fan Hua simply scoffed, saying nothing more.
From a cabinet, Qin Rong took out some clothes and sat on the edge of the bed, gently scooping Xian Ning into her arms.
“I’m going to help Xian Ning change. Please leave.”
Fan Hua showed no intention of moving. Instead, she propped her chin on her hand, watching with amusement. “Why should I leave? It’s not like I haven’t helped my little junior sister change before.”
Qin Rong knew Fan Hua was trying to provoke her. Despite telling herself to stay calm, a fire ignited inside her.
The sound of a cold sword ringing filled the air as Qin Rong’s scabbard lit up from behind her, shimmering with a faint, chilling light. The look she gave Fan Hua was sharp and dangerous.
Fearing that a bigger commotion would alert the sect master and elders, Fan Hua decided it wasn’t worth it and left.
The great Immortal Sect competition wouldn’t begin until tomorrow. Tonight, Fan Hua had come secretly, with no clear purpose. The moment she arrived at Jade Purity Peak, she headed straight for Bamboo Viewing Peak.
The curse of forgetfulness on Xian Ning sensed her presence, causing it to suddenly act up and make her faint.
Since she was the one who created the curse, she knew how much pain it caused. However, it wasn’t yet the right time to lift it. She could only hope Xian Ning would hold on a little longer.
Soon, everything would be settled once the seal on the Demon Realm was broken. And Xian Ning would finally belong to her.
As Fan Hua stepped off Bamboo Viewing Peak, a dark, demonic aura enveloped her, blurring her features and filling her with malevolent energy.

Once Fan Hua was gone, Qin Rong set up a barrier around the room to ensure no one would interrupt them. Only then did she begin to help Xian Ning change. Normally, she would cling to her and use Xian Ning’s kindness to get what she wanted, but right now, all she cared about was seeing her wake up.
If she could, she’d take on all this pain and suffering herself.
Xian Ning’s sleep was restless. The curse of forgetfulness trapped her in constant nightmares, leaving her no peace. It was a demonic curse, after all, and no matter how harmless it seemed, it would still pull its victim into a bottomless abyss.
She saw a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood again. Thick, black blood clung to her feet, making every step a struggle. But this time, behind the black fog, she saw Fan Hua.
Fan Hua was dressed in black and red, emanating an aura of pure evil. Her smile was chilling, sending shivers down her spine. The black fog cleared, and Fan Hua’s face became sharper, her eyes a dangerous shade of red.
“Xian Ning, come here.”
“No!”
Xian Ning screamed, bolting upright in bed. Her body was slick with cold sweat, her hair plastered to her face. She felt wretched. Her clothes clung to her back with an unpleasant dampness. She took several deep, ragged breaths to calm her racing heart.
The door creaked open. Qin Rong came in, carrying a bowl of medicine. A look of pure joy washed over her face when she saw Xian Ning was awake. She rushed over, splashing the hot liquid and scalding her own hand.
“Xian Ning, how are you? Are you hurting anywhere?”
Seeing her reddened hand, Xian Ning took the bowl from her and placed it on a nearby cabinet. “I’m fine. But what about you? You look so exhausted.”
Qin Rong was dressed in a simple gray robe, her hair loosely tied back, and her sleeves pulled up, giving her the look of a dutiful housewife. But the biggest change was her face. Her normally bright features were now dull and lifeless. Her eyes only sparkled when she looked at Xian Ning. Her lips were dry and chapped, her complexion pale and faded. She looked like a lost dog who had finally found her way home.
Without a word, Qin Rong embraced Xian Ning, burying her face in her neck and taking a deep breath of her scent. Her heart, which had been in her throat, finally settled.
Xian Ning didn’t know whether to feel sorry for her or for herself. After a moment’s hesitation, she hugged her back. She figured it didn’t matter. She was drenched in sweat, but Qin Rong wasn’t in much better shape.
They held each other for a long time. Qin Rong wouldn’t have let go if the medicine weren’t getting cold.
Xian Ning knew medicine was bitter but that physical pain was far worse. The brief period of unconsciousness had drained her. She was so weak she needed Qin Rong’s help just to get out of bed to bathe. So, naturally, Qin Rong stayed by her side, claiming she was afraid Xian Ning would faint again.
It hadn’t been awkward when Qin Rong was with her in the spiritual spring before, but now…
“Junior Sister, you can leave. I can wash myself.”
Qin Rong scooped a ladle of water and poured it over Xian Ning’s shoulder. Her hand slid over the curve of her shoulder blades, her fingers drawing circles as if painting on her skin.
“How can I do that? You’re so weak, I have to stay with you every step of the way.”
Then stop touching me! Xian Ning flinched and secretly slid deeper into the tub, but Qin Rong saw right through her.
“Why are you running away? It’s not like I’m going to eat you.”
Qin Rong’s hand wrapped around her like a snake, coiling around her neck and pulling her closer. It was a dangerous move, but she made it look utterly suggestive. Xian Ning gave up on trying to argue and just focused on getting as far away from her as she could.
“Weren’t you going to the fighting arena later? You should go get washed and change. You don’t have to worry about me.”
Qin Rong’s eyes glinted. “My little senior sister is right. I do need to wash up.”
As she spoke, she began to unfasten her clothes, her gaze never leaving Xian Ning. Her eyelids were lowered, half-hiding the emotions beneath her long lashes. But the possessive glint in her eyes was unmistakable.
Feeling completely self-conscious, Xian Ning shrank further into the water, leaving only her head above the surface. Qin Rong threw her last piece of clothing onto a chair, stepped onto a small stool beside the tub, and in two strides, climbed in.
Xian Ning stared at her in shock. “W-Why did you get in?” she asked meekly.
Qin Rong blinked, pulling her into her arms. Her lips brushed Xian Ning’s ear. “Didn’t you tell me to wash and change?”
That’s not what I meant! Xian Ning wanted to shout. She meant for her to go use the spiritual spring, not get in with her! This tub was small enough as it was. There was no room for both of them.
“Don’t you feel crowded?” Xian Ning turned to look at her, hoping Qin Rong would get the hint.
Qin Rong grinned, her hand on Xian Ning’s slender neck, gently massaging it. “Not at all. This distance is just right.”
With that, she cupped Xian Ning’s face and kissed her. Xian Ning struggled slightly, splashing water everywhere.
Why did she kiss me all of a sudden? It wasn’t that she was against it, but she felt this would completely ruin the plot. She also felt Qin Rong’s excessive concern for her would be detrimental to her cultivation.
A wavering Dao heart was a huge taboo for a cultivator.
A gentle nibble on her lip. Qin Rong’s voice, laced with a laugh, whispered in her ear. “Focus on me. Don’t think about anything else.”
Xian Ning was struck by her words. Her heart fluttered, and she closed her eyes, giving herself over to the kiss.
Qin Rong wasn’t just talented at cultivation; she was a quick study at other things, too, like kissing. It had only been a few times, but she’d already gone from fumbling to being a skilled and captivating kisser.
After lingering on Xian Ning’s soft, yielding lips, she gently pried them open. Her tongue, like a small snake, slipped in, exploring every corner. Their mouths tangled together, their breaths becoming ragged. The sound of light splashing water made the air feel humid and intimate.
The air in Xian Ning’s lungs was completely stolen. She was getting dizzy, her head light from lack of oxygen. She had to lean limply against Qin Rong. Playing a little game, Qin Rong held the back of her head, not letting her pull away. At the last moment, she breathed air from her own mouth into Xian Ning’s so she wouldn’t actually suffocate.
The kiss was deep and thorough. When they broke apart, a silver thread of saliva connected them. A little dribbled down the corner of Xian Ning’s mouth. Qin Rong stared at her, her eyes filled with a simmering desire that stained her dark pupils a deep black.
The corners of Xian Ning’s eyes were flushed with a rosy red. A lovely blush spread across her cheeks and ears, making her look as stunning as a blooming peach blossom. She looked up at Qin Rong, a watery mist in her eyes. The shy, slightly annoyed expression on her face was enough to make anyone lose their mind.
Qin Rong’s heart pounded uncontrollably. She looked at Xian Ning’s soft pink skin and bit her cheek.
“Huh?” Xian Ning thought to herself. It was a familiar move. She felt like someone else had liked to bite her cheek before. She couldn’t remember who it was. She only had a vague name in her mind.
“Xiao Xian…”
Qin Rong’s expression froze. She let go.
Xian Ning didn’t realize the gravity of her mistake. Qin Rong’s arms suddenly tightened around her waist. She felt her neck gripped, and a pair of teeth began to grind into her skin. It hurt far more than it ever had before.
“Junior Sister, please be gentle…”
Her plea only seemed to egg Qin Rong on. She sank her canines into Xian Ning’s delicate skin, piercing it and sucking on the faint taste of blood.
“Who is Xiao Xian?” Her voice was a little muffled, but Xian Ning heard her clearly. Qin Rong’s actions were obviously fueled by resentment. It was clear she was jealous.
But the thing was, Xian Ning didn’t know who “Little Xian” was. The name seemed to be buried deep in her memory. She couldn’t recall it when she tried, but it was always there, haunting her like a shadow.
“I don’t know.”
Her answer did not satisfy Qin Rong. Jealousy welled up inside her, making her eyes sting.
“Do you like her a lot?”
“What?” What kind of question was that? She couldn’t even remember the person’s face. If it was someone she liked, she must be a terrible person.
Before she could answer, Qin Rong bit her again. This time, it genuinely hurt. Xian Ning cried out in pain, but before she could complain, her mouth was covered.
“I know it hurts. Just bear with it.”
Qin Rong began to bite her again, leaving a few teeth marks on her fair, smooth skin. She also left behind several new and old red welts. At the same time, the hand around Xian Ning’s waist roamed freely, teasing and lighting a fire. Xian Ning’s entire body felt like it was burning, and her skin turned a deep shade of pink.
Xian Ning tried to stop her over and over again, but the words came out as muffled whimpers. Water droplets from her forehead blurred her vision. The temptation was right in front of her. There was no way Qin Rong was going to hold back.
Xian Ning was already weak, and Qin Rong had drained her of what little strength she had left. She couldn’t resist even if she wanted to, especially since she wasn’t against Qin Rong’s touch.
Oh no. How did things get to this point?
With one arm, Qin Rong lifted her and changed their position so Xian Ning was sitting on her lap, her gaze turning dark.
“Senior Sister, kiss me.”
Just moments ago she looked like she was going to devour her, but now she was giving her a pitiful look. Xian Ning couldn’t resist such a plea. She wrapped her arms around Qin Rong’s neck and kissed her.
The weak and pitiful act was just a facade. The moment Xian Ning kissed her, Qin Rong revealed her true self. She sucked and licked her lips, devouring her tongue. She seemed to want to take her apart.
Xian Ning’s tongue went numb and her lips felt like wood, but Qin Rong still clung to her, deepening the kiss over and over again. Xian Ning felt like her lips were going to be bruised. She pushed on Qin Rong’s shoulders. Qin Rong stopped and looked at her, her expression full of hurt.
“You really do like ‘Xiao Xian’ more.”
Xian Ning’s mind went blank. Well, great. A name I said without thinking has become her weapon against me.
She pressed her hand against the back of Qin Rong’s head and kissed her, sucking and stirring, taking full control. After the passionate kiss, she let go, her eyes flushed red.
“Alright, that’s enough. The water’s gone cold. Let’s get out.”
Qin Rong said nothing. She simply spread her hand and swept it across the water’s surface, and the water instantly grew warm.
Xian Ning was speechless again. Her cultivation wasn’t meant to be wasted like this!
Qin Rong leaned in, rubbing her head against Xian Ning’s chest. Her voice was soft and sweet. “Senior Sister, I want you.”
Xian Ning nearly jumped out of the water in shock. Did this silly girl even know what she was saying? “No, you’re still too young.”
Qin Rong looked up, a pout on her face. “In what way?” She held her hand out in front of Xian Ning. Her fingers were long and straight, her joints not particularly prominent, and looked incredibly soft.
Xian Ning covered her eyes. “It’s not happening right now,” she said in a muffled voice. To a girl, what was the difference between showing off your hands and… something else? This kid was really…
Xian Ning sighed, a helpless smile on her face. She covered Qin Rong’s mouth to prevent her from saying anything else shocking. “If we drag this out, Second Senior Sister will come looking for you.”
If Li Zhao caught them, she would lecture them for an entire day, so they always behaved to get some peace.
Qin Rong wrapped both of her arms around Xian Ning, tightening her hold as if she wanted to melt her into her own bones and become one with her. “Then when can we?”
Qin Rong wasn’t in a hurry to do that. She just wanted Xian Ning to be hers so no one else could steal her away. Fan Hua, Xiao Xian, and all those other girls… they all needed to back off. She was Xian Ning’s one and only.
Xian Ning didn’t know how to answer, so she hedged. “At least not until you can be responsible for your actions.”
“I can be responsible right now. I’ll always only love you.” Qin Rong said, not forgetting to rub against Xian Ning as she spoke. Her head was as furry as a little dog’s.
Xian Ning grabbed her arm. “Whether you can be responsible is up to me to decide. And for now… the answer is no.” A teenager using “always” and “forever” just wasn’t very reliable.
Qin Rong didn’t say anything else. After lingering a little longer, she picked Xian Ning up and carried her out of the tub.
“I can walk myself,” Xian Ning said, her face as red as a sunset as she held onto Qin Rong’s neck.
Qin Rong’s gaze was firm and her tone stubborn. “You’re weak, you shouldn’t waste any energy.”
It was true, but since neither of them was wearing clothes, it was hard to avoid skin-on-skin contact. It was… a lot. In normal circumstances, Xian Ning would have buried her face in Qin Rong’s chest, but if she did that now, she would be actively initiating a physical touch. She couldn’t even bring herself to look at her, so she just stiffly held her head high and let herself be carried to the bed.
“You rest. I’ll go take a look and be right back.”
It was already the second day of the Immortal Sect competition. Even though it was still in the regular cultivators’ rounds, Qin Rong had a big reputation, so it was probably a good idea for her to make an appearance.
Xian Ning grabbed her wrist and looked up at her. Qin Rong turned around. “What is it?” she asked.
“Did Fan Hua came?”
Xian Ning was almost certain Fan Hua was on Jade Purity Peak. The sudden flare-up of her curse felt too strange, and while she was unconscious, someone had alleviated her pain. It could only have been Fan Hua.
Qin Rong paused for a few seconds before answering. “Yes, you fainted because she was here.”
Xian Ning thought back to her dream and felt uneasy. Fan Hua had been gone for half a year, so why was she here all of a sudden? What was she planning?
“I’ll go with you.”
Qin Rong leaned down, a frown on her face. “Go do what? Go look for Fan Hua?”
Xian Ning reached up and pinched her cheek. “I just want to see the competition. It has nothing to do with Fan Hua. Why are you being so jealous?”
Qin Rong pouted. “But you asked about Fan Hua, and then you want to go out right after. It’s easy to jump to conclusions.”
“Don’t jump to conclusions,” Xian Ning said, kneading Qin Rong’s cheek, which felt surprisingly nice. “Don’t you think it’s safer for me to stay with you? What if she kidnaps me while you’re gone?”
“I’ve set up a barrier. She can’t get in,” Qin Rong explained.
Xian Ning countered, “Don’t forget she’s a demon. Who knows what kind of crooked tricks she might have up her sleeve. Are you really that confident in your barrier?”
Hearing this, Qin Rong immediately agreed to let her come.
