After Becoming The Young Darling Of A Wealthy Family - Chapter 7
Huo Yinli stood at the doorway. Wen Si’s words struck her like a sudden downpour, leaving her completely stunned. She asked in an uncertain tone, “Where are we going, Auntie Wen?”
“Auntie forgot to tell you yesterday. It’s my fault.”
Wen Si squatted down slightly while holding Wen Ruanqing, trying to maintain eye contact with Huo Yinli. She softened her manner and said, “I plan to go out for fun today, probably to Bindi Park. I want to invite you to join us. If you are free today, would you like to come with me?”
“Fafa.”
Wen Ruanqing opened her arms, catching the end of Wen Si’s words. Her body began to lean toward Huo Yinli. Right now, she could not fully comprehend Wen Si’s words; all her actions were purely instinctive. “Hug, hug.”
“A hug?”
Wen Si was pleasantly surprised, and her smile turned exceptionally radiant. “You’ve learned another word!”
Wen Ruanqing looked back at Wen Si as a response, then continued to look at Huo Yinli, expecting Huo Yinli to hug her. In her awareness, a hug was an intimate gesture; whoever she liked, she would let them hug her.
“Hug…”
Huo Yinli heard Wen Ruanqing’s words clearly. She murmured the word under her breath, then turned around and ran back into her room, leaving Wen Ruanqing and Wen Si standing in place, looking completely bewildered.
“Sister.”
She left.
Wen Ruanqing felt a bit sad. She slowly lowered her hands, burrowed into Wen Si’s embrace rather unhappily, pursed her lips, and reached out to tightly clutch Wen Si’s collar.
“Auntie Wen.”
With the sound of pitter-patter footsteps, Huo Yinli returned, having changed into a light green dress. She wore a white-and-pink bucket hat adorned with small flowers—little daisies, sunflowers, and orchids. Her shoes were also light green cloth shoes, and she carried a small bag containing her water bottle and tissues.
Huo Yinli’s breathing was uneven. “I am ready.”
Then she opened her arms. “Little sister, I can hug you now.”
Wen Ruanqing watched Huo Yinli run over panting. Their clothes looked so similar now—they both had flowers on them!
The previous unhappiness vanished instantly. Wen Ruanqing smiled and opened her arms again, leaning toward Huo Yinli. Wen Si also carefully delivered Wen Ruanqing into Huo Yinli’s embrace.
Wen Ruanqing felt that Huo Yinli’s body was stiff, like a blue gemstone her mother had given her before. Huo Yinli’s breathing was heavy, blowing “hu-hu-hu” right next to her ear, but Wen Ruanqing did not dislike it at all. She even proactively wrapped her arms around the other girl’s neck to keep from falling.
“Can you hold her weight?”
Wen Si’s voice came from above Wen Ruanqing. The toddler looked up curiously; earlier, Wen Si’s voice had been right next to her ear, but now it felt as distant as a cloud, making her dizzy.
Huo Yinli gave a forceful “Mm!” with a solemn expression, as if she were executing a monumental task. However, her rigid posture gave her true thoughts away. “I can do it.”
“Alright, should we head back holding her like that?”
Watching the two of them huddled together, a smile curled the corners of Wen Si’s eyes, and a playful urge arose in her heart. “You don’t need Auntie Wen’s help, do you?”
“Mm…” Huo Yinli pondered for a moment, hesitating on the spot before saying, “It seems I can’t.”
She did not dare to move.
Wen Ruanqing’s body also grew tense. She could not understand what others were saying, but soon she was taken back into Wen Si’s arms. From her perspective, Huo Yinli grew smaller and smaller again.
Oh?
Wen Ruanqing was back in Wen Si’s embrace, looking at her face-to-face. “Mama.”
This one was also Mama.
Wen Si responded, “You should call me Mother.”
Wen Ruanqing snuggled into the nook of Wen Si’s neck. “Mama.”
“Alright, alright, alright.”
Wen Si did not correct Wen Ruanqing’s terminology any further. She freed up one hand to hold Huo Yinli’s hand. “Have you eaten breakfast?”
Huo Yinli nodded obediently. “I’ve eaten.”
“You ate so early?”
Wen Si glanced at the time, feeling a bit surprised. “Do you have classes today?”
Huo Yinli shook her head. “No, I like to get out of bed to exercise. One must keep their body healthy.”
Therefore, she got up at six o’clock every day. If she had classes, she would go to school; if not, she would run at home.
Wen Si let out a “Wow,” offering sincere praise. “That is truly impressive. To be able to persist with exercise at such a young age, Auntie deeply admires you.”
She brought Huo Yinli back into the house and had her sit on the sofa first. Soon, a maid served a glass of milk and placed it in front of Huo Yinli.
Just as Wen Si placed Wen Ruanqing into the baby high chair, Wen Tingyin put Wen Ruanqing’s milk bottle onto her exclusive small table. “Drink up, little sister.”
“Sister.”
After calling out, Wen Ruanqing held the milk bottle and began to drink, leaning back against the chair. As she drank, she watched her family eat breakfast.
Wen Tingyin finished her egg, drank a glass of milk, wiped her mouth clean, and jumped down from her chair. She walked straight over to Huo Yinli and gasped in amazement, “You dress so much like my little sister today!”
“Is that so?”
Huo Yinli took a sip of milk and nodded calmly. “I think so too.”
Their clothes were the same; both had flowers on them.
Wen Ruanqing wiggled her little legs, unaware of what her sisters were talking about.
On the contrary, Wen Si, who was sitting nearby, lowered her head and giggled, whispering to Feng Ye, “Little Li is quite a thoughtful child.”
Feng Ye raised an eyebrow, glanced at the matching outfits of the two girls, and said softly, “It seems our little treasure is quite popular.”
After saying this, the two of them looked together at Wen Ruanqing, who was eavesdropping.
Upon being discovered, Wen Ruanqing silently turned her head away. In fact, she had not understood them, but her curiosity was piqued nonetheless.
Taking advantage of the fact that she could not comprehend these words right now!
Humph.
She was going to focus on eating now!
Bindi Park was vast, offering scenic views as well as various recreational facilities. Wen Si carried Wen Ruanqing, while Feng Ye held hands with Huo Yinli and Wen Tingyin, the five of them walking one after another.
“So beautiful.”
Wen Tingyin had been here a few times before, but she had been too young back then, and her memories were blurry. Seeing it now gave her a completely different feeling.
“The flowers here are so beautiful.”
Wen Tingyin stood in front of a flowerbed and struck a pose, asking Feng Ye to take a photo of her.
“Since it’s beautiful, we should stroll around more.”
Wen Si looked at Huo Yinli, who was standing beside her. She always felt that this child’s personality was somewhat detached, yet she was exceptionally well-behaved.
“Little Li, do you want to take a picture too?”
Wen Si spoke in a tentative manner. “Auntie will print it out later.”
Wen Ruanqing also looked down at Huo Yinli, letting out a small “Ya.” She struggled to get down, as she could distinguish who was talking to whom.
“Don’t run off wildly.”
Wen Si put Wen Ruanqing down and bent over to support her arms, preventing her from losing her balance and falling.
“Auntie.”
Huo Yinli also reached out to steady Wen Ruanqing. Lowering her head, her voice was soft. “I won’t take a picture. Let her take it.”
“Alright.”
Wen Si nodded, respecting Huo Yinli’s wish. “Then little sister and I will take one.”
Wen Ruanqing was about to grasp Huo Yinli’s hand when she was lifted up, and then she was placed right next to Wen Tingyin. She opened her mouth and called out, “Sister.”
Wen Tingyin responded, “Aye! Little sister, let’s take a picture together.”
Following that, Wen Ruanqing was embraced, her face pressed against Wen Tingyin’s. The sun was intense today, baking them with heat. Her clothes felt hot, and her face felt hot too. Her sister’s face was also scorching. Although it felt somewhat uncomfortable, she did not refuse and cooperatively put on a smile.
“Perfect.”
Feng Ye gave them a thumbs-up and smiled. “Beautiful. Later, Mama will use a gorgeous picture frame to frame it and put it in your room.”
After taking the photo, Wen Tingyin was ready to leave. She had heard Huo Yinli’s words, so she did not plan to linger. It was quite hot here, and she wanted to walk away quickly.
However, Wen Ruanqing could not understand Huo Yinli’s words; her capacity for logic was limited. In her mind, Wen Tingyin was her sister, and Huo Yinli was also her sister. Since she had taken a photo with Wen Tingyin, she had to take a photo with Huo Yinli too.
“Sister,” Wen Ruanqing called out softly.
She was feeling rather uncomfortable from the heat. Although she wore sun-protective clothing, her skin had turned flush red. She looked anxiously at Huo Yinli, wanting to take a photo with her as well.
“Let’s go, little sister.”
Seeing that Wen Ruanqing was not moving, Wen Tingyin thought she was too tired to walk and planned to pick her up to head back. But Wen Ruanqing refused. “No.”
Feng Ye and Wen Si exchanged a glance. Feng Ye stepped forward first and said softly, “It’s very hot here, little treasure. Shall we move to another spot?”
“Sister.” Wen Ruanqing frowned slightly and looked at Huo Yinli again. “Sister.”
Could it be that Huo Yinli was unwilling?
Seeing that Huo Yinli remained still, Wen Ruanqing stopped resisting. She lifted her arms for Feng Ye to carry her. “Mama.”
“Auntie Feng.”
Huo Yinli’s voice suddenly sounded very close. She walked over to Feng Ye’s side, her eyes suddenly lighting up with joy. “I didn’t understand what little sister meant just now. Let’s take a photo together then.”
Feng Ye was startled for a moment but reacted quickly. She cooperatively backed away with Wen Tingyin, lifted the camera, and snapped a photo of the two of them.
In the photo, both Wen Ruanqing and Huo Yinli were smiling, their heads leaning together as if they were forming a heart shape.
How adorable.
Feng Ye put away the camera with satisfaction. Wen Si quickly stepped forward to carry Wen Ruanqing. Although this park was well-shaded, patches of sunlight still filtered down. Wen Ruanqing’s skin was sensitive, and in just that short while, it had turned entirely flushed.
“Mother will blow on it for you.” Heartbroken, Wen Si blew gently on her skin. “Does it hurt? How about I take little treasure back first?”
She had checked the weather forecast today, which predicted an overcast day. Moreover, there had indeed been no sunlight in the morning. Who could have foreseen that it would become so scorching hot within a matter of minutes?
Wen Ruanqing had also become sluggish. Once that burst of excitement passed, she felt miserable. Whining a couple of times, she leaned against Wen Si’s shoulder with her eyes squinted, completely drained of energy.
封烨 nodded. “Alright, I see that little treasure isn’t feeling well either. I’ll have the driver pick you up later.”
They walked forward a bit further and found a cool place to rest. Wen Si loosened Wen Ruanqing’s clothing slightly, then used a wet wipe to gently dab away the heat from the reddened areas. Huo Yinli and Wen Tingyin stayed close to Wen Si’s side, watching.
Seeing this, Feng Ye went to buy a balloon and two sticks of cotton candy. She returned and handed the balloon string to Wen Ruanqing to hold, explaining, “There are many people today, so there was only one balloon left. I’ll buy more for you when I see them later.”
Her and Wen Si’s parenting philosophy dictated that they could not slight any child.
Both Wen Tingyin and Huo Yinli shook their heads, refusing the treats. Their attention was entirely focused on Wen Ruanqing.
Looking at Wen Ruanqing’s reddened arms, Wen Tingyin’s small face crumpled with worry. “Does it hurt, little sister?”
Wen Ruanqing did not react. It seemed she did not care whether it hurt or not; she simply had no strength.
“Eh?”
Suddenly, Wen Ruanqing felt a tug on the balloon in her hand. Her first instinct was that the balloon was about to carry her away into flight. But when she turned her head around, she discovered an unfamiliar child grabbing onto the balloon string.
Huh?
“No!”
You cannot steal her balloon!
