- Chapter 13 - Apologize To My Little Sister!
Feng Ye’s gentle demeanor vanished the instant he clearly heard Wen Tingyin’s words. Holding Wen Ruanqing a bit closer against his chest, he curled his lips into a smile to soothe Wen Tingyin, but there was no trace of warmth in his eyes. “Mom knows. I will be right there.”
The call disconnected.
Feng Ye lifted his gaze to look at the driver in the front seat and said softly, “Faster.”
His voice sounded incredibly gentle, but the driver instantly broke out into a cold sweat and hurriedly responded in compliance.
“Mom.”
Wen Ruanqing was holding two boxes of small cakes, which she had specially picked out for Wen Tingyin and Huo Yinli. Although she did not understand what had happened, she could sense that the atmosphere was not right. Moving her eyes around silently, she leaned against Feng Ye’s chest without saying a word.
The car traveled at a high speed, and figures flashed past Wen Ruanqing’s eyes. It was not until the car came to a steady halt that she could clearly see the building in front of them.
It was a very, very big rectangular block.
“Little Baby, we are here.”
Feng Ye carried Wen Ruanqing out of the car. His steps were steady, yet they were much faster than usual. Huo Yinli and Wen Tingyin’s classroom was on the twenty-third floor. Just as they stepped out of the elevator, they heard a childish female voice shouting:
“Do you think you are the only one who can find a mother? I have called my mother too. Just wait to apologize to me.”
The voice was rather sharp. Wen Ruanqing caught a fright, shrinking back into Feng Ye’s embrace and looking ahead with utmost caution. “Mom.”
“Don’t be afraid.”
Feng Ye’s expression grew even colder. He walked forward with large strides. In the next second, a paper cup came flying toward them.
Clatter—
The paper cup hit the floor, making a soft sound, but Wen Ruanqing almost threw the cakes away due to the sudden fright. By the time she reacted, the cakes had been shaken out of shape and no longer looked good.
“Mom.”
Upon noticing this, Wen Ruanqing’s eyes rimmed with red instantly. Sniffling, she looked at the cakes in her arms with distress, feeling as though she had ruined everything.
Feng Ye stroked Wen Ruanqing’s head, forcing a smile to comfort her. “Your sister won’t blame you. Let’s go see what your sister is doing first, okay?”
“Mm.”
Wen Ruanqing nodded. Resting her head in the nook of Feng Ye’s neck, she stared ahead with a tense expression, terrified that something might suddenly pop out.
“Please do not use force.”
Huo Yinli watched Zhao Chi throw the paper cup at them. Although bodyguards were blocking it, it was extremely unpleasant.
Zhao Chi did not care about Huo Yinli’s words at all. In her mindset, everyone should listen to her; she was the boss.
“I will throw it. Who told you to make me unhappy?”
Zhao Chi tilted her head and crossed her arms over her chest, her eyebrows completely filled with defiance. “Unless you apologize to me!”
“Who wants who to apologize?”
Feng Ye’s voice suddenly rang out. Anyone who was even slightly sensitive could detect the anger laced within his words. “Wen Tingyin or Huo Yinli?”
Zhao Chi was originally quite arrogant, but her momentum weakened considerably upon seeing an adult. However, on second thought, her mother was arriving soon anyway, so she had nothing to fear.
She extended her hand and pointed at Huo Yinli and Feng Ye. “Both of them have to apologize to me.”
The moment the teacher on the podium clearly saw Feng Ye’s face, her heart instantly plunged into an ice cellar. Her entire body seemed to stiffen at that very moment. Naturally, she recognized Feng Ye. Before taking this job, she had flipped through numerous financial newspapers, and she remembered that face exceptionally well.
Feng Ye was married to Wen Sicheng. Wen?
Wen Tingyin’s surname was Wen.
The teacher’s breath hitched. Her face turned pale, and she instinctively wanted to open her mouth to explain, but she shut her mouth after receiving a warning glance from Feng Ye. Stumbling back a few steps, she thought to herself that she was completely finished.
“What did they do to make you this angry?”
Feng Ye set Wen Ruanqing down. He understood Wen Tingyin; his eldest daughter usually had an excellent temperament, and unless she was severely offended, she would never fly into such a rage.
Once Wen Ruanqing was set down, she tugged at the hem of Feng Ye’s clothes. Noticing a lot of paper scraps on the floor, she looked left and right before finding a piece with the number “100” written on it. Squatting down with some effort, she picked up the scrap of paper. “Heh.”
Then she extended her hand and handed it to Feng Ye. “Mom.”
Deep down, Wen Ruanqing had a vague concept of the situation. Although it wasn’t clear enough, she knew that this scrap of paper was important.
When Wen Tingyin clearly saw the item Wen Ruanqing was handing over, her eyes finally turned red. She turned her head to glare at Zhao Chi with dissatisfaction, and then said aggrievedly, “Mom, she tore up my homework.”
“She wouldn’t let me do my homework, and told me to yield first place to her.”
Huo Yinli supplemented in a timely manner. She also sniffled, evidently on the verge of crying as well. They were all four-year-old children, after all; their ability to control their emotions was not that strong yet.
“Alright, I understand.”
Feng Ye patted the heads of the two older children respectively. Lifting his eyes, he signaled the bodyguards to keep an eye on Zhao Chi. “Has her parent arrived?”
“She’s arriving right now.” Watching the tall bodyguards approach her one by one, a look of fear finally appeared on Zhao Chi’s face. “I want my mom!”
“Mom is here, I’m here!”
Zhao Chi’s mother, Yi Hui, rushed in in a hurry. Seeing a group of people surrounding her child, she rushed over without a second thought to hug Zhao Chi. “Do you know who I am?”
Yi Hui turned her head sharply to look, only to crash directly into Feng Ye’s icy gaze. Countless words got stuck in her throat, and in that instant, she felt as if her blood was flowing backward. Opening her lips, she stammered, “CEO… CEO Feng.”
“Mom, they are bullying me, hurry up and teach them a lesson!”
Zhao Chi shook Yi Hui forcefully, her mood exceptionally urgent. “Hurry up!”
“Shut up!”
Yi Hui berated Zhao Chi and stood up stiffly, completely stripped of her previous bravado. “My child is ignorant, please show magnanimity and overlook this.”
“Mom.”
Wen Ruanqing suddenly spoke up. She held up the cakes, and her tears cascaded down instantly.
“No…”
Her cakes were ruined.
“This cake was bought for you by your little sister. Unfortunately, someone threw things around wildly and scared her.”
Feng Ye’s voice was gentle, utterly disregarding the gazes of the onlookers as his eyes locked firmly onto Yi Hui. “What should we do about this?”
With a face full of heartache, Wen Tingyin said, “Don’t cry. It’s not your fault the cake is ruined. There was a bad guy, the bad guy caused it.”
Huo Yinli pulled out a tissue directly to wipe away Wen Ruanqing’s tears. She squatted down to embrace Wen Ruanqing, patting her back in a slightly clumsy manner.
“Who is a bad guy?” Hearing Wen Tingyin’s words, Zhao Chi wanted to rush forward, but Yi Hui stopped her in time. She looked at her mother with a lack of understanding, only to meet Yi Hui’s furious eyes.
At this moment, Zhao Chi realized one thing: it seemed… she had caused a massive disaster.
She had even made her mother this angry. But wasn’t her family rich? Just giving them some money would fix it.
“CEO Feng, it’s my fault for not educating my child well and making you unhappy. It is entirely my fault.”
“Of course it’s your fault.” Feng Ye sneered. “Raising a child to be like this, the mother bears the greatest responsibility. I don’t care whose child it is, whoever raised them is the one who suffers. Right now, my heart aches for my children, so what do you plan to do?”
“Today, your child tore up my child’s homework and threatened my child. How about this, since your daughter doesn’t seem to like studying, why don’t you get out of Haicheng and let her be a pampered, arrogant young miss in peace?”
Feng Ye’s words sounded like a joke, but Yi Hui was so terrified that tears were about to fall. She kept bowing repeatedly. “CEO Feng, I apologize to you. It’s my fault. I beg you not to involve the child, I will discipline her thoroughly.”
Standing to the side, Zhao Chi originally felt humiliated because all the other classmates were watching. But when she discovered that Yi Hui was bowing incessantly with an incredibly humble attitude, she finally reacted. She had made a terrible mistake; turned out money wasn’t all-powerful, and her mother could no longer protect her.
“What do you two think?”
Looking at Zhao Chi’s panicked expression, Feng Ye narrowed his eyes and lowered his head to ask Wen Tingyin and Huo Yinli for their thoughts.
Wen Tingyin spoke first. Looking at Wen Ruanqing’s tear-reddened eyes, her heart instantly ached. She raised her voice and said, “First, she must apologize to my little sister, apologize to me and Huo Yinli, and compensate me with two cakes.”
“Second, I hope she never appears in front of me again.”
Huo Yinli took over Wen Tingyin’s words. The tissue in her palm was damp as she said in a solemn voice, “She made my little sister cry—”
“I hate her.”
