- Chapter 26 - The More Her Hand Hurt, the More Wildly She Kissed Her
When Yu Wanyin heard those words, her heart panicked for a moment. She didn’t know why, but it hurt more than she expected. She had to admit—she really cared about Qiao Sanghe. Their worlds were just too far apart. There were many things she had no right to face together with her, and that was what truly made her feel powerless.
After hanging up the phone, Qiao Sanghe glanced at Yu Wanyin, who stood nearby looking somewhat lost. Her lips curved slightly, as if something had amused her. She reached out and gently ruffled Yu Wanyin’s hair.
“It’s nothing important. Just a call from home—it doesn’t concern me. You don’t need to overthink it, because I certainly don’t.”
Yu Wanyin’s dimmed expression immediately brightened again. That meant Qiao Sanghe had no intention of agreeing to an arranged marriage. Though she herself had no right to interfere with Qiao Sanghe’s decisions, hearing her say that made her genuinely happy. She knew Qiao Sanghe’s personality well—no one could force her to do anything she didn’t want to do. Since she said it didn’t matter, she clearly didn’t take it seriously at all.
It was clear that she needed to work twice as hard in the future—only then could she earn the right to stand by Qiao Sanghe’s side.
She walked over, gently linking arms with her and planting a soft kiss on her lips. “I understand.”
In the past, Qiao Sanghe would never have bothered to explain something like this. But with Yu Wanyin, it was different. She didn’t want there to be any misunderstandings.
Yu Wanyin wore a black swimsuit that accentuated her tall, lean figure. Her pale skin was smooth as snow, and the toned lines of her muscles gave her an almost sculpted strength—an uncommon trait even among Alphas.
Qiao Sanghe had always admired Yu Wanyin’s physique. Being in her arms made her feel safe and secure. Especially the way Yu Wanyin could lift her effortlessly with one arm—it was the kind of strength that made people instinctively want to test the firmness of her abs.
Lost in thought, she reached out and gently stroked Yu Wanyin’s waist and abdomen, marveling at the taut, springy texture beneath her fingertips.
Even though she had seen her body many times before, she still couldn’t help but comment, “You feel amazing.”
Yu Wanyin loved Qiao Sanghe’s touch. As long as it was her, she didn’t mind what she did. Blushing faintly at the tips of her ears, she guided Qiao Sanghe’s delicate fingers across her abdomen, letting her explore to her heart’s content. Embarrassing as it was, she felt no need to hide anything from the person she liked.
Qiao Sanghe wanted to explore every inch of Yu Wanyin’s body. Her skin was so warm, her touch so addictive—it was impossible to grow tired of.
[I want to touch too. Those abs look insane—I bet they feel amazing.]
[This kind of teasing is way too spicy. These two are not playing around.]
The show’s next challenge had begun. All guests were required to investigate clues at the scene. It was now 8 PM, and in just two hours, “Dark Time” would begin. During Dark Time, the killer could eliminate guests freely. The murderer was hidden among numerous NPCs in the swimming facility—possibly a staff member or a customer. Guests had three days to identify the culprit. If they failed, everyone would be eliminated—regardless of whether they survived Dark Time or not.
Qiao Sanghe and Yu Wanyin arrived at the poolside to begin their investigation. Four other guests were already present. Zhao Xuejie and Luo Sisi—both mid-tier celebrities—formed one team. The other pair was Liu Chu, a singer, and Hu Xueqi, a girl group member.
The six of them gathered at the crime scene while the production team explained the murder. The victim, a staff member responsible for pool equipment, had died from a sharp object piercing his abdomen near the poolside.
A realistic mannequin was used to simulate the corpse, with a large pool of fake blood nearby. However, there was little red in the water itself. The “body” floated eerily at the center of the pool.
Qiao Sanghe and Yu Wanyin started investigating. The autopsy report revealed that the victim had taken a large dose of sleeping pills and had no signs of drowning—no water in the lungs or nasal passages. Time of death: between midnight and 2 AM. The first to find the body was the security guard, Lao Chen.
Clues were scarce, so they started combing the area. At the poolside, there were visible smears in the blood—someone had tried to wipe away traces, which was highly suspicious.
Yu Wanyin noted that the amount of blood in the pool water was minimal and said to Qiao Sanghe, “I’m going to check under the water for clues.”
She had previously worked at a pool and knew the water was changed daily. It was likely the water had been replaced to clean up evidence and obscure how the murder had been committed.
“I’ll come with you,” Qiao Sanghe said—there was no way she was staying above with the corpse. It was too creepy.
Yu Wanyin nodded. She was a skilled swimmer and would keep Qiao Sanghe safe.
Though Qiao Sanghe could swim, she wasn’t professional. But having Yu Wanyin by her side made her feel calmer. Once underwater, her first instinct was to look for Yu Wanyin.
Yu Wanyin grabbed her hand and, using the buoyancy, pulled her into an embrace. The two of them floated close together, their bodies naturally drawn by the current. It was hard to describe the feeling.
Qiao Sanghe felt even safer in Yu Wanyin’s arms underwater. Swimming on her own was tiring—but being held like this felt effortless. Their underwater closeness was exhilarating. She wasn’t used to the weightlessness, and the need for comfort made her want to cling to Yu Wanyin even more.
Sensing Qiao Sanghe’s nervousness, Yu Wanyin held her by the waist and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead to soothe her tension.
Feeling the warmth of that kiss, Qiao Sanghe was moved. Yu Wanyin’s kisses were different—they were filled with care, reassuring and intimate.
She leaned in and returned the kiss on Yu Wanyin’s lips. Kissing underwater was a unique sensation. With both of them wearing swimsuits, their skin pressed intimately together—it made everything feel even more charged. The moment was unlike anything else; time felt frozen as they floated in each other’s arms.
Qiao Sanghe’s lips were cool but sweet. Yu Wanyin tried to restrain herself, but every little expression from Qiao Sanghe made her heart race. The kiss consumed her, making her lose herself entirely.
[Aaaaah that kiss! I’m dying!]
[So sweet—someone hand me my insulin!]
[Did anyone remember there’s a corpse floating in the pool?]
[Are they solving a mystery or falling in love??]
[They’re not even pretending anymore—just kiss and call it a day.]
Yu Wanyin swam a circle with Qiao Sanghe in her arms and discovered a metal key stuck in the pool’s drainage filter. It looked like it had been washed there—supporting the theory that the water had been changed post-murder to erase evidence.
After surfacing, she helped Qiao Sanghe out and wrapped her in a towel, handing her a cup of hot water to prevent her from catching a cold, then changed into dry clothes herself.
Yu Wanyin blow-dried Qiao Sanghe’s hair as she curled up in her arms, completely relaxed, letting her do as she pleased.
She realized she had grown lazy—whenever Yu Wanyin was nearby, she just wanted to lean on her. There was a warmth and comfort in her embrace that made everything else disappear.
Qiao Sanghe could even hear Yu Wanyin’s heartbeat—it was more captivating than any part of the show.
Later, they confirmed with the front desk that the key was for the equipment room—managed by the victim. They also interviewed security guard Lao Chen and discovered:
• The victim had argued with Customer A over safety equipment.
• Co-worker B owed the victim 2000 yuan and hadn’t repaid it.
• Boss C had gone shopping with the victim the day before he died.
• Receptionist D had rejected the victim’s romantic advances.
• Security guard E (Lao Chen) discovered the body—and he and the victim were the only ones in the facility that night.
Although others had alibis, the show had stated NPC alibis could be faked. The guests needed to find proof to disprove them.
As Yu Wanyin and Qiao Sanghe headed to the equipment room to investigate further, a sudden siren blared over the loudspeakers. All the lights in the corridor went out—it was now 10 PM.
They exchanged a glance, a heavy seriousness flashing in their eyes.
Dark Time had begun.
Now the killer was free to move.
The best option? Hide—wait two hours, and survive.
“Come with me. Let’s go upstairs—it’ll be safer.”
The upstairs layout was harder to navigate and easier to hide in. The first floor was too exposed.
In the dark, Yu Wanyin grabbed Qiao Sanghe’s hand. The stairs were barely visible, so she kept Qiao Sanghe close, shielding her protectively.
Though she had experienced darkness in other episodes, Qiao Sanghe’s heart still raced. She huddled closer to Yu Wanyin, trying to steady her nerves.
But something was wrong—there were footsteps behind them.
Yu Wanyin’s expression changed. Someone was following them.
Not another guest—guests moved in couples. This was a single pursuer.
The only logical conclusion: the killer.
Without hesitation, Yu Wanyin pulled Qiao Sanghe into a run. Qiao Sanghe followed breathlessly, nerves on edge. Whoever was chasing them exuded an eerie, oppressive aura—like a real killer closing in on their prey.
They must’ve gotten too close to the truth.
Feeling the footsteps drawing near, Yu Wanyin pulled Qiao Sanghe into a small room off the spa suite, shutting the door quietly. They clung to each other, holding their breath.
Outside, footsteps stopped—right in front of their door.
They could hear the person breathing.
Qiao Sanghe nearly made a sound, but Yu Wanyin quickly covered her mouth, hugging her tight. Her own breath stilled—any noise might give them away.
The person didn’t leave. He just stood there.
Tension coiled tighter. Qiao Sanghe’s frustration and fear peaked—her teeth clamped down on Yu Wanyin’s hand, biting hard enough to nearly break the skin.
Yu Wanyin didn’t make a sound. She bore the pain, refusing to let go.
Eventually, the pain became too much. Unable to cry out or pull away, she could only turn her head and kiss Qiao Sanghe—passionately, forcefully—sealing her lips, silencing her.
She kissed her wildly, claiming her sweet mouth with abandon.
The sharper the pain in her hand, the more fiercely she kissed her.
