A Guide to Capturing the Gentle Older Sister - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
As Jiang Wu and Ning Ran followed the beautiful policewoman into the mediation room hallway, what they saw were two young girls huddled together, asleep.
“Weiwei,” Jiang Wu spoke in a warm voice.
Yu Weiwei jolted upright from her chair and ran toward her with small, hurried steps, her manner extremely flustered: “Sister, I am so sorry, having to… in the middle of the night…”
After her initial emotions subsided, she felt that she had been very presumptuous. No matter how well Jiang Wu treated people, she was still essentially her employer. How could she trouble someone like this late at night?
Therefore, at this moment, she lowered her head like a child who had done something wrong and was afraid of being punished.
Jiang Wu saw through her thoughts at a glance. Amused, she reached out and gently patted the top of Yu Weiwei’s head, asking softly: “Have you eaten?”
Yu Weiwei was startled: “I—I’ve eaten. The police sister gave us some food.”
“Good. Sit down first, I need to understand the situation from you a bit more.”
Mi Shushu blinked her eyes and introduced herself: “Sister, I’m just a pure and stupid college student. I was so sad and heartbroken that the scumbag cheated on me that I got dazed with anger. He kept provoking me with his words, and I was so scared. I don’t know what happened, but then I hit him…”
She spoke as if she were about to burst into tears. Yu Weiwei almost believed her.
“Pfft—” An unceremonious light chuckle came from the side.
Yu Weiwei and Mi Shushu’s eyes instinctively snapped toward the source.
The person in front of them was clearly of a different style than Jiang Wu. While Jiang Wu was like silent lake water or a sapphire under the moonlight—restrained and gentle—this person was sharp and possessed a powerful aura. She wore a classic Le Smoking suit with the hem of the jacket casually flared out and loose, floor-length trousers, her high heels radiating a commanding presence. Her short hair was carelessly swept back, revealing a pair of eyes that seemed to be half-smiling. With the addition of gold-rimmed glasses, she looked a bit like a scheming mastermind who had everything under control.
“This is my partner, Ning Ran,” Jiang Wu introduced.
Ning Ran was the type who loved watching the drama unfold. She happened to be with Jiang Wu when the message from Yu Weiwei arrived, and Ning Ran decisively declared she wanted to selflessly help the innocent college students (and enjoy the gossip).
“Hello, Lawyer Ning.” The two inexperienced college students instantly didn’t dare to act up.
This sister looked like a wolf who would battle a crowd of scholars in court and then smile while stabbing you twice if things went south.
“What’s this? She’s ‘Sister’ and I’m ‘Lawyer Ning’?” Ning Ran tilted her chin up.
The two little lambs didn’t dare to speak.
“So restrained. Weren’t you quite formidable when you were hitting people?” Ning Ran teased.
“There was no hitting!” Mi Shushu immediately retorted, her voice gradually weakening: “It was clearly because I was dazed by that scumbag’s words that I somehow… lost my footing.”
Yu Weiwei covered her face.
Jiang Wu looked at the two of them with amusement; they were still just children.
“It’s a small problem, don’t be afraid.”
Yu Weiwei nodded obediently.
“Sister, thank you.”
With two great lawyers on the case, the mediation was handled with ease. The scumbag didn’t have the face to linger. He wouldn’t be able to explain himself back in Haicheng either. Mi Shushu was the apple of her family’s eye, and their parents would likely become enemies from then on.
The night’s experience was truly surreal—the midnight high-speed train rush, the beating, entering the police station. It was destined to be a deep impression.
The four of them huddled in an old shop in Nancheng, drinking duck blood vermicelli soup.
Ning Ran was overjoyed after hearing about their experience and sighed: “The waves of the Yangtze River behind push those in front. You young people are truly impressive.”
By now, Mi Shushu had cleared the haze from her heart and had already grown closer to Ning Ran, acting quite like one of their own.
“Sister, it’s ‘us’ young people. Are you guys still busy? Since you’re already in Nancheng, let me take you out to play.”
“Are there any fun places?” Ning Ran propped up her chin, looking interested.
“Plenty! Eating, drinking, and having fun—I guarantee you’ll be satisfied.” Mi Shushu raised her chin proudly, her face saying it can’t go wrong if you listen to me.
The two fun-lovers began to exchange their insights.
On the side, Yu Weiwei had already started to disconnect. Staying at home with her parents over the summer had adjusted her to an optimal routine. After staying up all night, her consciousness was gradually blurring under the invasion of her biological clock.
Jiang Wu sat opposite her without speaking. Seeing the girl’s palm-sized face about to dip into the soup bowl, she reached out to support her cheek.
Yu Weiwei hadn’t quite reacted yet.
Jiang Wu looked at the other two: “I’ll take Weiwei back to sleep first. You two go and play.”
Ning Ran drew out her tone: “Oh—”
“Fine. It just so happens that this young friend and I feel like old friends at first sight.”
Mi Shushu looked at her dazed roommate and nodded: “Mmm-hmm. Then you two go back and rest early. After you’ve rested, we can all go play together.”
“Please take good care of Weiwei, Sister.”
And so, Yu Weiwei was entrusted to Jiang Wu. Because of her delayed consciousness, she followed behind Jiang Wu with exceptional obedience.
“Sister, where are we going?”
“Going to a hotel to sleep first, okay?”
“Okay.” She nodded obediently.
Jiang Wu drove the car over while Yu Weiwei waited by the roadside. She got into the car obediently, but because she hadn’t found her footing, she accidentally bumped her head on the doorframe. She didn’t seem to feel it, simply sitting down honestly, mechanically pulling her seatbelt, and sitting with her legs together, tilting her head to look at Jiang Wu.
“Sister, I’m all set.”
She had an adorable look that said “Sister can take me anywhere she wants.”
A smile rose at the corners of Jiang Wu’s mouth, and the fatigue in her expression vanished completely.
“So well-behaved.”
“In the future, I won’t call you ‘Little Friend.’ How about I call you ‘Little Goody’?”
“Okay.” Yu Weiwei looked up, her voice thick with sleepiness and sounding very sweet.
