A Guide to Capturing the Gentle Older Sister - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Bystanders all hoped that Kuang Yao would never have met her “Sister.”
But Kuang Yao was more than willing, she couldn’t quit her.
As the saying goes: one knows not when love begins, yet it grows ever deeper.
Shaking the thoughts from her mind, Yu Weiwei sat down in front of her computer, her fingers flying across the keyboard as she determined to create a teaching syllabus and plan that looked exceptionally reliable.
Her gaze drifted to the chat box with the rich sister. The last message was a sticker of a little bunny handing over a flower, which she had sent after returning to the dorm.
Jiang Wu.
Sister’s name sounded so lovely.
The projector in Yu Weiwei’s mind automatically started playing, replaying the other woman’s smiles and voice from their meeting during the day—those soft-toned, subtly doting utterances of little friend.
It really had been a long time since anyone had called her that.
Yu Weiwei covered her ears and began to daze off.
Jiang Wu looked exactly like her dream version of herself, from her gentle manners to her composed aura. Every movement was indifferent and at ease, as if she remained unshaken by the passing years.
Twelve years older than me… so she’s 33?
What will I be like when I’m 33?
Living in my own house, doing a job I handle with ease, owning a car that can take me anywhere in the world.
Can I do it?
Yu Weiwei began to imagine.
She had been raised under her parents’ education since she was a child.
Her mother was a teacher, and the teachers at school were all her colleagues. Her father was a civil servant. Her aunts, uncles, and cousins were all civil servants, doctors, teachers, or soldiers.
Her older brothers and sisters were all upstanding and successful, with top-tier grades, pursuing Master’s or Doctoral degrees and working jobs that rarely caused the family any worry.
Yu Weiwei had never thought about this question before—just go to grad school, and maybe even get a PhD if possible; being able to study for a lifetime was actually quite happy.
The episode of failing to secure a grad school recommendation, however, had interrupted this natural progression.
Although her mother was angry, she also urged her to review well. Once she reached the re-examination stage, it would be easy to contact professors and strive to study for another three years, eventually becoming a high school teacher at a school near home.
Perhaps because her parents kept saying it, saying it over and over until her ears grew calloused, Yu Weiwei suddenly began to doubt: is this what she herself wants to do? Or is it just the expectations of her parents?
What I want to do… then what do I want to do?
Yu Weiwei didn’t realize she had been dazing off for a long time. When she came to, she discovered that a line of text on her interface with Jiang Wu was particularly conspicuous.
“I nudged Jiang Wu.”
Ah! Yu Weiwei hurriedly and clumsily tried to press the ‘withdraw’ button.
It had been more than two minutes, it could not be withdrawn.
Yu Weiwei: !
Sister Jiang Wu won’t think I’m crazy, will she?
Just then, the other person’s homepage showed “Speaking…”
Yu Weiwei held her breath.
The next second, a message with a little red dot appeared in the chat interface.
There was still a hint of fatigue in Jiang Wu’s voice, likely because she had just finished working, but her gentle smile remained unchanged: “What’s wrong, Weiwei?”
Yu Weiwei hurried to explain.
W: “It’s nothing, it’s nothing, I accidentally clicked it!”
W: “Sister, are you still busy right now?”
Jiang Wu: “Yes, I just got off work and am on my way home.”
Getting off work this late, it feels so hard.
W: “Then Sister, rest early!”
W: [bunny throwing hearts.gif]
Another voice message arrived, and Yu Weiwei tapped it.
“Alright, little friend, go to sleep early. Goodnight.”
That voice was tender, as if it were falling right by her ear.
Yu Weiwei curled her fingers, awkwardly scratching her ear.
W: “Goodnight, Sister.”
