Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 64.2
But Sui Yu ignored her. She insisted on moving closer, even grabbing Shen Jueshu’s hand and placing it around her own waist so she could sleep while being held.
Shen Jueshu: “…”
She couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh, though there was fondness behind her exasperation. She was used to this by now. She wrapped the Alpha who had willingly snuggled into her arms and nuzzled Sui Yu’s forehead lightly before closing her eyes and drifting off to sleep.
The next morning, the sound of birds chirping near the window gently stirred them awake. Sui Yu slowly pulled herself out of Shen Jueshu’s arms, rubbing her eyes as she mumbled, “Guess Fu Xin’s drug wasn’t that strong after all.”
She had expected that so-called physiological aversion to make her physically recoil at Shen Jueshu’s presence—maybe even feel nauseous. But nothing like that happened. Instead, she had fallen asleep peacefully in her arms.
Shen Jueshu glanced at her helplessly. Did she have any idea what it meant to let someone inject an unknown substance into her body? And now here she was, acting smug like she’d won a prize.
“Get up,” Shen Jueshu said quietly, getting out of bed to wash up.
As soon as she left the bed, Sui Yu quickly made it and then picked out outfits for the both of them.
Once the two had dressed and come downstairs, breakfast was already laid out by the housekeeper. But the way the housekeeper looked at them was… strange.
Neither of them could make sense of it—especially Sui Yu, who noticed the odd gaze was mostly directed at her.
“Is there something you want to say?” Sui Yu asked, thinking the housekeeper might be in some kind of trouble but too polite to speak up.
The housekeeper looked at her blankly for a second, then sighed deeply and walked back to the kitchen. “Nothing.”
Sui Yu: “???”
Why did that sigh feel like a very pointed ‘you’re a hopeless case’?
She blinked innocently and gave Shen Jueshu a pitiful look for help.
Shen Jueshu chuckled under her breath but offered no comfort.
Sui Yu sniffled, feeling thoroughly wronged, then decided to bury her frustration in food. She devoured breakfast with impressive speed.
It wasn’t until she finished eating that she noticed something new in the corner of the living room. Curious, she walked over—only to see a full set of workout equipment, mostly dumbbells and resistance gear, clearly focused on upper body strength.
She froze, then it clicked.
So that’s what this is about…
No wonder the housekeeper had looked at her like that. She must think Sui Yu was too weak, and now had no hope of improving. Hence, the training gear—because she was “beyond saving”.
Sui Yu: “?!”
Her face flushed red. She quickly turned and walked away, pretending she hadn’t seen any of it. Why did the housekeeper always go so hard on her?
First, she’d moved all her things into Shen Jueshu’s room and prepared an absurd number of… well, items. And now dumbbells?
Was she that worried about her “performance” in the relationship?!
Even though she’d recovered her memories and now knew she was someone from this fictional world, she’d spent most of her life in the real world. This kind of open, unfiltered boldness—she still wasn’t used to it!
Shen Jueshu had, of course, noticed all her reactions. She looked down slightly and smiled quietly to herself. This woman really was adorably clueless sometimes.
After breakfast, the two of them headed to the villa where Fu Xin was being held. The place was under heavy security, guards stationed layer upon layer. Even the Traverser Association would have a hard time getting anyone out of here.
As soon as they stepped inside, Sui Yu’s eyes fell on Fu Xin—her hands and feet pierced and shackled with thick chains. Though her legs hadn’t been punctured, they were still locked down with reinforced restraints. Escape was impossible.
Shen Jueshu took one look at the situation and commented flatly, “Even with a system, she’s not getting out.”
“Huh?” Sui Yu turned to her. “How do you know that?”
Not only did her question catch Shen Jueshu’s attention—it caught Fu Xin’s as well.
Her head snapped up, and she stared straight at Shen Jueshu, eyes wide and unblinking.
Facing both pairs of eyes, Shen Jueshu only frowned briefly. Her voice remained calm as she said, “I guessed.”
Truth be told, she didn’t even know why that idea had suddenly popped into her head.
“Oh.” Sui Yu didn’t press further. She turned her gaze to Fu Xin. Perhaps because of how wretched Fu Xin looked now—her face swollen, bruised beyond recognition—seeing her again brought Sui Yu an unexpected sense of ease.
Confronting that face again, she wasn’t sure if she’d still be able to lay a hand on her like she had yesterday.
She walked up to Fu Xin and looked down at the pitiful sight before her. Gone was the glamorous actress under the spotlight. After a brief silence, she asked, “Still not willing to talk?”
Fu Xin clenched her teeth, eyes filled with overwhelming hatred—like she would tear Sui Yu apart if she could.
Sui Yu didn’t flinch under her gaze. Her face remained composed, and even the way she looked at Fu Xin was unsettlingly calm.
“I assume you know we have the means to kill you quietly, without anyone ever knowing.”
“But we’re offering you a chance—to hand over the antidote, and tell us your true purpose.”
“This is your only chance to live.”
Fu Xin remained silent, still glaring at her with those vicious, venomous eyes.
Sui Yu didn’t react. She glanced down at Fu Xin’s pierced hands—blood had dried at the wounds. Without hesitation, she pulled on the chain again. The metal tore through the already-healed skin, splitting the wound back open. Blood quickly soaked the chain and dripped to the floor.
“Ah—!” Fu Xin let out a guttural scream, her face contorted with pain. Cold sweat streamed down her temples. Her already bruised skin turned deathly pale, her vision flickering black.
“Fu Xin. ‘Heartless.’ What a fitting name,” Sui Yu said softly. “After all, you never offered anyone your real heart, did you?”
Fu Xin trembled, lips quivering in agony, unable to speak.
Sui Yu slowly tugged the chain again, dragging it with a deliberate pace. The iron links scraped against torn flesh and bone, a pain meant to carve into the soul—one that wouldn’t kill, but would leave someone begging for death.
“You’re really willing to die to protect their secrets? Is it worth it?”
Shen Jueshu stood quietly to the side, watching it all. In that moment, she realized—her Alpha had truly changed. The Sui Yu of the past never would’ve been capable of doing something like this.
Fu Xin’s body began to tremble. Blood loss left her icy cold, yet she still clenched her jaw shut, refusing to say a word.
Just then, a phone resting nearby lit up with a message notification. Sui Yu’s eyes followed the sound and caught the way Fu Xin’s expression suddenly tensed.
A smile crept across Sui Yu’s face.
Under Fu Xin’s murderous glare, she strolled over and picked up the phone. “Hmm? No name saved, but judging from the chat history, you two seem pretty close.”
She started scrolling.
“Stop it!” Fu Xin hissed through clenched teeth.
Sui Yu paused, then glanced at her with a smirk. “So… does that mean you’re ready to talk?”
Fu Xin’s face had gone completely white. Her entire body shook.
Sui Yu snorted lightly and scrolled all the way to the top. She saw the messages that told Fu Xin to disguise herself and get close to her. Nothing new. But some of the messages further down caught her eye.
She raised her brows. “They said if you fail your task again, you might as well stay in this world forever.”
Her expression shifted to curiosity. “You’re a traverser, right? You have a system. So how can someone make you stay here? Can they strip your system from you? And if so, how?”
She looked at Fu Xin innocently, as if she were genuinely seeking answers.
But Fu Xin’s face went utterly ashen. A deadened look began to creep in—an expression filled with dread and despair.
Seeing that, Sui Yu’s smile deepened. “Why are you so afraid of being stuck here? Isn’t this world nice? You’re still a respected actress. Isn’t it a good life?”
Fu Xin ignored the pain in her mangled hands and tried to clench her fingers into fists—but all it did was bring her more agony. There was nowhere to pour her frustration, no way to escape.
Sui Yu tilted her head thoughtfully. “Hmm… what do you think I should reply to him?”
She tapped her chin in mock contemplation. “Ah, I guess I’ll just reply normally. Wouldn’t want him suspecting anything, right?”
Her smile turned vicious. She would sever all of Fu Xin’s paths—no escape, no rescue, no future.
“Sui Yu!” Fu Xin growled, her voice hoarse.
“I’m listening,” Sui Yu said lightly, typing out a calm reply and sending it off.
She then dragged over two chairs—one for Shen Jueshu, who sat silently to watch, and one for herself. Placing it in front of Fu Xin, she sat down and smiled.
“Still not talking? That’s fine. I can’t promise how long this will last, though.”
“Oh, right—did I mention? Our medical team is very competent. If you think dying is an option, think again.”
“As long as we don’t let you die, we’ll keep you alive—no matter what it takes.”
For the first time, Fu Xin truly felt afraid. Sui Yu, who treated those around her with warmth and gentleness, was nothing but a frozen storm when it came to her.
“There’s something you should know,” Sui Yu said softly. “You went about this the wrong way.”
“If you hadn’t pretended to be Xiaowen… if you’d just approached me with that face of yours, I might not have been so guarded.”
“But you all got greedy. You wanted to break me completely. So, you pretended to be Xiaowen…”
She chuckled softly, the corners of her eyes-tinged red. She tried to suppress the emotion in her voice.
“The moment you said you were Xiaowen, I knew you weren’t.”
“Because Xiaowen… never once called me by my name.”
Since she had always seen Xiaowen as her little sister, Xiaowen had, of course, always called her “Sister Sui.” Even in the very last moment of her life, the word that left her lips was “Sister.”
And yet, as her older sister, Sui Yu had failed to protect her.
That was the pain she would carry for the rest of her life.
She lifted her head, unwilling to let her tears fall again—especially not in front of Fu Xin. People like her thrived on exploiting others’ weaknesses to break them. There was no such thing as compassion in their world.
Suddenly, she felt two hands settle gently on her shoulders.
In her blurred vision, she saw Shen Jueshu’s face appear. Even from this unflattering, upward angle, she looked effortlessly beautiful—flawless.
Shen Jueshu didn’t say a word. She simply placed her hands on Sui Yu’s shoulders and gently kneaded them, silently soothing her. And just like that, Sui Yu’s emotions slowly began to settle.
“Y-You two…” Fu Xin stared at the scene before her in disbelief. She couldn’t understand it. The drug had clearly been injected into Sui Yu’s body—so why were the two of them still able to be so close?
“Unbelievable, isn’t it?” Sui Yu’s voice was cold as her calm returned. “Not everything can be controlled with drugs.”
Fu Xin’s face went slack. She had never encountered anything like this before. Her drugs had never failed—not once.
Sui Yu rose to her feet and looked her straight in the eyes.
“Then I hope you can hold out a little longer.”
Her tone was ruthless, merciless. She didn’t even call anyone in to treat Fu Xin’s wounds. She simply turned and left the room with Shen Jueshu, leaving behind a woman too stunned to even react.
“Someone like her won’t crack so easily,” Sui Yu said lightly as they walked out. “Let her suffer for a while longer. She’s banking on the fact that I won’t kill her—but pain? That’s another story.”
“Mm,” Shen Jueshu hummed in agreement. She didn’t say much more. After they left the villa, she returned to work. No matter what had happened, life had to go on.
Sui Yu returned to her lab and drew her own blood for testing. She wanted to see if the injection had caused any irregularities in her bloodwork.
The staff didn’t quite understand what she was doing, but no one questioned her. She was the boss, after all. Still, when they saw the serious expression on her face while she examined the report, they couldn’t help but feel uneasy.
What could be so wrong?
Sui Yu stared at the test results.
The report showed that there was an unidentified substance in her bloodstream—extremely active and unlike anything she had ever seen.
Her head began to ache.
Originally, she had planned to research and develop an antidote herself. But now, without even knowing what this substance was, that task had just become exponentially harder.
Still… it wasn’t entirely impossible.
She decided not to tell Shen Jueshu about it for now.
There was no need to give her another reason to worry.
After work that evening, the two of them acted as if nothing had happened at all. They left on time, went home, and ate the dinner prepared by the housekeeper. Afterward, Shen Jueshu took Sui Yu out for a short walk to help digest the meal, then sent her upstairs to change into workout clothes before heading out again for a run.
Sui Yu: “…”
As expected, even if the world were ending, Shen Jueshu would still stick to her workout routine.
Running along the mountain path with Shen Jueshu again—perhaps because she had done it once before—was still exhausting, but not to the point of feeling like she might collapse this time.
As they made their way uphill, Shen Jueshu took the lead and pulled her along. In the dim light of the street lamps, Sui Yu caught sight of Shen Jueshu’s exposed waist. The warm glow cast a honeyed hue on her skin, and with that slender, toned waist, just that one glimpse was enough to leave Sui Yu completely mesmerized.
How could her wife be this beautiful?!
As they ran, Shen Jueshu soon noticed the breath of the person behind her becoming irregular. Turning her head slightly, she saw Sui Yu’s eyes fixed intently on her waist—completely unabashed.
Shen Jueshu: “…”
She was both amused and exasperated. For someone who was usually so timid, this little pervert sure had some nerve.
Shen Jueshu asked, “Do you like what you see?”
“Very much!” Sui Yu nodded enthusiastically.
But as soon as the words left her mouth, her face stiffened. She looked up and met Shen Jueshu’s gaze—and instantly flushed bright red.
She had been caught red-handed!
Shen Jueshu couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of her expression. Did this girl forget she was staring at her own wife? Why act like some sneaky pervert? It wasn’t like she hadn’t seen more intimate parts before.
“Wanna keep looking?” Shen Jueshu asked deliberately.
Sui Yu looked at her with wide, watery eyes, bit her lip, and nodded a little shyly. She clearly knew Jueshu was teasing her, but she still answered honestly, “Yes, I do.”
Not only did she want to look—she wanted to kiss her, too.
But Sui Yu didn’t dare say that out loud. Otherwise, she’d sound… way too eager.
Seeing her reaction, Shen Jueshu looked pleased. After all, who wouldn’t enjoy watching their lover lose composure over them? Even she wasn’t immune.
“If you want to look, then run faster,” Shen Jueshu said casually.
“Eh?” Sui Yu’s eyes lit up instantly. She quickly picked up her pace and caught up with Shen Jueshu, asking excitedly, “Do you mean what I think you mean?!”
Shen Jueshu let out a soft hum but didn’t say more.
Still, Sui Yu broke into a wide, gleeful smile.
