Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 56.2
A moment later, Jiang Siyue also stepped out in her chosen outfit. She asked for anything she liked to be wrapped up without hesitation. But then she turned to Sui Yu, puzzled. “Ayu, what exactly did you buy?”
Sui Yu cleared her throat. “Grown-up stuff. Kids shouldn’t worry about it.”
Jiang Siyue: “…”
Fu Xin laughed quietly and gently pinched Jiang Siyue’s cheek. “That’s right. Let the adults handle adult things.”
Jiang Siyue: “…” Why does that sound even weirder when she says it?
While Sui Yu was picking through clothes, her phone buzzed. It was a message from Shen Jueshu.
What are you up to?
Sui Yu smiled to herself. She’s reaching out first now… how sweet.
She replied in a voice message, “Out shopping with Siyue. She ran into a friend, and now they’re both having a great time.”
Jiang Siyue overheard her and immediately lit up. She rushed over and asked, “Were you talking to my sister-in-law?!”
Sui Yu nodded.
“Quick, call her! I want her opinion on my outfit!” Jiang Siyue said, grabbing her phone.
Sui Yu raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t I just say you looked great?”
“I don’t trust your judgment—I want to hear it from her!” Jiang Siyue insisted.
Sui Yu: “…”
She messaged Shen Jueshu to ask if she was free for a video call. When she got the green light, she dialed. But before she could even say hello, Jiang Siyue had already leaned in and taken over the screen.
“Sis! Are you tired from work?” she asked sweetly, at least remembering to show some concern.
Shen Jueshu saw Siyue’s face filling the screen and laughed softly. “Not too tired. I’m heading back tonight.”
As soon as she heard that, Siyue almost invited her out for dinner. But after thinking about how Sui Yu and Jueshu hadn’t seen each other in days—and might want some alone time—she decided to spare herself the role of third wheel.
Instead, she asked Shen Jueshu to give her opinion on her outfit. After getting a thumbs-up, she happily went to change and pay.
Finally getting her phone back, Sui Yu muttered under her breath, “I said it looked good too, but she didn’t believe me!”
I mean—hello? The fact that Shen Jueshu was her girlfriend should be proof enough that her taste wasn’t terrible, right?
Shen Jueshu looked at her and chuckled softly. After chatting for a few more minutes, the two ended the video call.
As Sui Yu put her phone away, Fu Xin commented from beside her, “You two seem really close.”
The moment she heard someone say she and Shen Jueshu had a strong relationship, Sui Yu couldn’t help the small smile that tugged at the corners of her lips. “Well, we’re building a life together.”
Fu Xin smiled gently and didn’t say anything more.
The rest of the afternoon, Sui Yu picked out several matching outfits she and Shen Jueshu could wear together. She asked the bodyguard to send them—along with the sleepwear from earlier—to the dry cleaners. After that, she tagged along behind Jiang Siyue and Fu Xin, aimlessly trailing them and acting like a robot whose only job was to say, “Looks good.”
By lunchtime, the three of them went out for hotpot, steam rising from the table and warming their faces. After the meal, Jiang Siyue and Fu Xin wanted to keep shopping, but Sui Yu waved them off.
“I’m worn out. I’m just going to relax a bit and catch a movie. After that, I’ll drive straight to the airport to pick Jueshu up.”
Seeing that Sui Yu was clearly done for the day, Jiang Siyue said, “I won’t go home tonight. I’ll stay at Fu-jie’s place.”
Sui Yu perked up slightly, then hesitated. “Is that okay?”
Fu Xin smiled. “Why wouldn’t it be? Siyue and I get along well. She can stay the night—we can talk more about acting.”
Sui Yu was momentarily at a loss for words.
In the end, she exchanged contact info with Fu Xin, just in case she needed to pick Siyue up later.
After Sui Yu left, Fu Xin turned to Jiang Siyue and joked, “President Sui really seems like your mom.”
“Oh, she just worries about everything,” Jiang Siyue replied, completely used to it by now.
“That’s a good friend to have.”
“I think so too!”
—
Sui Yu walked into the theater and randomly picked a showtime. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a cheesy teen idol romance that made her head ache. No matter the world, these teen dramas always seemed to have the same formula—love triangles, fights, reckless decisions, teenage pregnancy, and emotional breakdowns.
By the time the movie finally ended, it was already four in the afternoon. She made a dinner reservation at a nice restaurant and then drove to the airport early, her heart full of anticipation at the thought of seeing Shen Jueshu again.
Driving along the highway again, her face turned slightly cold. Ever since that last encounter, the “traveler” who had tried to interfere hadn’t made any moves. Nothing. No signs. It had been quiet for far too long—and that silence was unnerving.
Sui Yu had the feeling these travelers were trying to mess with them psychologically—keep them on edge, always waiting for the next move.
If these people were so good at playing mind games, they really shouldn’t be messing around as interdimensional meddlers—they should be sitting at diplomatic tables, negotiating between nations.
She got to the airport with time to spare. Pulling out her phone, she browsed the news for a while and then played a few games to kill time. The hours passed quickly.
When Shen Jueshu finally arrived in Linhai, she walked out of the gate and saw Sui Yu standing just beyond the railing, holding a bouquet of flowers and smiling brightly at her. Her heart instantly softened.
No matter how crowded the world was, they could always find each other in an instant.
Jueshu stepped forward, and Sui Yu opened her arms and pulled her into a hug. The flowers in her arms released a sweet fragrance, enveloping them in a gentle warmth.
“Welcome back,” Sui Yu said softly.
Shen Jueshu smiled and placed a light kiss on Sui Yu’s cheek, soaking in the familiarity of the embrace.
They really weren’t used to being apart—even though it had only been a week.
“Did you miss me?” Sui Yu asked.
Shen Jueshu slipped her hand around Sui Yu’s waist. “Do I need to spell it out?”
“I want to hear you say it~” Sui Yu teased, her voice soft and playful.
Hearing her pout, Shen Jueshu sighed deeply—her tone full of affectionate helplessness. “Yes, I missed you. A lot.”
So much. More than you know.
That was all Sui Yu needed. Satisfied, she let go just long enough to plant a kiss on Shen Jueshu’s lips, completely ignoring the people walking past them. Then she took her hand and led her outside.
“These are for you,” Ayu said, holding the bouquet out to Shen Jueshu.
Jueshu lowered her gaze to the lilies—elegant, fresh. Her understanding of Ayu’s sense of romance took another step forward.
Ayu had booked a romantic restaurant for the evening. After all, they’d once promised each other that they would try every couple’s restaurant in Linhai, one by one.
“You must be hungry,” Ayu said, handing her the menu.
“I’m okay,” Shen Jueshu replied softly. “I had a little something on the plane.”
Still, she hadn’t eaten much, knowing Ayu was probably waiting to share a meal together.
“Was this job stressful?” Ayu rested her chin in her hand, watching her closely. The way Shen Jueshu quietly looked over the menu—no matter the angle, she always looked flawless. Ayu couldn’t think of anyone in the world more beautiful than her.
“Not really. Everything went smoothly.” Jueshu closed the menu and looked up to see Ayu watching her like a puppy. She reached over and pinched her cheek lightly, her gaze soft. “What about you? Has work been difficult these past few days?”
Ayu let her squish her face without complaint and shook her head. “Not at all. Everything’s been going well.”
They had finally found a good balance between responsibilities and outcomes. Now they just had to wait and see how things developed.
They talked quietly over dinner—nothing heavy, nothing urgent. It was as if the dangers looming in the background didn’t exist, and they were just two people enjoying the simplicity of life together.
When the meal was over, Ayu handed her a napkin and casually asked, “So, as your girlfriend… how would you rate me?”
She looked at Jueshu expectantly. This was her first relationship—she was genuinely worried she might not be doing a good enough job.
“Hmm? A rating?” Shen Jueshu gave her a sideways glance, suspecting this was just a roundabout way of fishing for compliments.
She smiled, eyes curving. “Ninety-eight.”
She didn’t even hesitate, like that number was only natural.
“Huh?” Ayu blinked, slightly stunned. She had thought… well, at least a ninety-nine?
“Then… where did I lose points?” she asked seriously, eager to reclaim that missing 2%.
Seeing her expression, Shen Jueshu let out a soft laugh. “One point is so you don’t get too full of yourself. The other…” She paused deliberately, watching Ayu grow visibly nervous, then continued slowly, “…is because you’re not very good in that department.”
After all, how many times had she held herself back for this woman?
Ayu stared at her, completely dumbfounded. “I—I am so!” she protested, looking genuinely aggrieved.
She hadn’t even had the chance to try! How could Jueshu be so sure?
Shen Jueshu smiled and gently shook her head. “Saying that a bit too soon, aren’t you?”
Ayu: “…”
She clenched her jaw a little and made a silent vow—one day, I’m getting that point back!
After dinner, they got in the car and headed home. Ayu mentioned Jiang Siyue’s plans to stay over at Fu Xin’s place.
Shen Jueshu frowned slightly. “Is that person really trustworthy?”
It had barely been any time, and Jiang Siyue already seemed that close to her?
Ayu’s expression darkened a little. Her voice was softer as she replied, “She seems trustworthy. Her manners, the way she carries herself—very composed.”
Hearing Ayu say that, Shen Jueshu relaxed a little. But she was quick to notice the dip in Ayu’s mood.
“What’s wrong? You seem down all of a sudden.”
Still driving, Ayu didn’t dare turn to look at her. “I’m not sad, exactly… just feeling a little… I don’t know, unsettled?” She sounded unsure even as she said it.
“Unsettled?” Shen Jueshu turned to look at her, puzzled. “Why?”
Ayu nodded faintly. “Do you remember the friend I told you about from the orphanage? Fu Xin looks a lot like her.”
Hearing that, Shen Jueshu’s brow slowly furrowed. “She looks like that friend of yours?”
“If my friend had grown up, she might’ve ended up looking exactly like Fu Xin,” Ayu murmured.
After all… she never even got the chance to grow up.
Shen Jueshu fell silent. In the end, she gently reached over and patted Ayu’s shoulder, softly comforting her, “It’s in the past now. We have to keep looking forward.”
It was a weak comfort—words too small for a wound so old—but in that moment, being by Ayu’s side was all she could do.
Ayu tugged at the corner of her lips and let out a quiet “Mm.”
Neither of them spoke for the rest of the ride. When they finally pulled into the driveway and got home, Ayu’s mood had steadied. She quickly hopped out of the car, walked around to Jueshu’s side, and opened the door for her. With a slight bow and a teasing tone, she said, “Miss Shen, your carriage awaits.”
Jueshu let out a light laugh, placing her hand in Ayu’s palm, the bouquet of lilies still resting gently in her other arm. The scent of the flowers drifted softly between them.
Back in the room, while Ayu was taking a shower, Jueshu quietly took out the wristwatch she had brought back and placed it on the nightstand by Ayu’s side of the bed. That way, Ayu would see it the moment she leaned over to lie down.
Ayu came out, wrapped in the warm scent of body wash, clearly ready for cuddles. She reached out with open arms toward Jueshu—only to be pushed away.
“Don’t hug me yet. I haven’t showered. I’m still dirty,” Jueshu said flatly.
Ayu pouted. “You’re not dirty…” But when she saw Jueshu wasn’t budging, she finally gave in.
As Jueshu turned to grab her pajamas, Ayu quickly stopped her with a grin and handed her a package. “This is the sleepwear I bought for you today—it’s already washed, so you can wear it straight away!”
Jueshu looked down and saw a little corner of the pajamas peeking out of the bag. “…”
“Wife~,” Ayu sang out, drawing out the word sweetly.
Shaking her head in mock defeat, Jueshu took the bag and went into the bathroom.
The moment Jueshu agreed to wear it, Ayu bounced happily over to get her own matching set.
So, when Jueshu came out dressed in a full-body reindeer onesie, she found Ayu already sprawled out on the bed in the exact same outfit, glowing with excitement. She was fiddling with the wristwatch when she heard movement. Her sparkling eyes darted up instantly.
“This is for me?” she asked, beaming.
“Mhm,” Jueshu said, pretending to be nonchalant.
Ayu lit up. She jumped off the bed and wrapped her arms around Jueshu in a tight hug, bouncing slightly in place. Her face turned a little pink from happiness. “I’ll take good care of it!”
It was the very first gift Jueshu had ever given her.
“Alright, alright. Do you like it?” Jueshu asked, pulling her into a steadier hug to calm her down.
“I love it!” Ayu grinned. It was like the gift had landed right on her heart.
Hearing her say that with such joy, Jueshu smiled softly. Then it was worth bringing all this way.
“Wife, you look so cute in this!” Ayu let go of Shen Jueshu and stared at her in the reindeer onesie. It didn’t match Jueshu’s usual composed image at all—but Ayu was weirdly confident that she would love it.
After all, this was someone who owned Psyduck-print underwear. There was no way she could resist cute things.
Hearing herself called “cute,” Shen Jueshu felt unexpectedly flustered. “Don’t say weird things.”
The pajamas were soft and cozy. She actually liked them, but wearing something this playful still made her feel a little awkward—like she was being too childish.
“I’m not saying weird things at all!” Ayu leaned in and kissed her cheek, grinning. “I bought a bunch of matching outfits today, too. You can take a look later, and if you don’t like them, I’ll buy new ones!”
Looking at the gentle curve of Ayu’s smiling eyes, Shen Jueshu said, “I’m sure I’ll like whatever you picked.”
“You trust me that much?” Ayu asked, clearly proud of herself.
“Of course. You’re my Alpha, aren’t you?” Shen Jueshu said, humoring her little burst of pride.
Ayu’s grin only widened. Every time Shen Jueshu said my Alpha, it gave her this overwhelming feeling of happiness.
She belonged to Jueshu—and Jueshu belonged to her.
They belonged only to each other.
Later, lying side by side on the bed, Ayu gazed at Shen Jueshu’s delicate features. She couldn’t help but lean in and start planting kisses—her brow, her eyelids, slowly down to her lips. But when she tried to go further, Jueshu stopped her.
She pressed a hand to Ayu’s lips, her eyes half-lidded, voice soft but firm. “Don’t keep kissing me… we’re not actually going to do anything, remember?”
All that teasing, only to stop halfway—she really didn’t want to keep putting herself through that.
It was getting hard to bear.
Hearing that, Ayu felt a little deflated. She collapsed on top of Shen Jueshu, kissing the corner of her mouth now and then, mumbling with a hint of frustration, “If I’d known, I would’ve just said yes to that one-week suggestion…”
Then this would’ve been perfect timing—Jueshu came home, and they could’ve—
Listening to her sulky little complaints, Shen Jueshu let out a helpless laugh. Ayu had completely changed lately—so proactive, it was actually getting hard to resist her.
She was even starting to look forward to seeing what kind of surprise Ayu might give her next.
Though what Shen Jueshu didn’t know was that Ayu would indeed bring her many “surprises” in the future—very real, very intense surprises.
“Go to sleep,” Jueshu said, closing her eyes and trying to calm her thoughts. But another worry crept in.
Her heat cycle was just a few days away—and that was going to be much harder to endure.
“Mmm.” Ayu finally gave up on the blissful “reunion moment” and settled down beside her. Sometimes you really just had to accept reality.
—
Meanwhile, at Fu Xin’s house, Jiang Siyue was completely unaware that the alone time she had carefully created for Ayu and Shen Jueshu hadn’t turned into the fiery night she imagined.
She was in her pajamas, lying belly-down on a soft white rug, playing Jenga with Fu Xin. Whoever knocked the tower over would lose.
“You seem really close with President Sui and President Shen,” Fu Xin said as she slid a block out.
“Yeah,” Siyue said casually. “They’re good people. They really care about me.”
To her, there weren’t many people in the world who treated her as genuinely as those two did.
“That’s nice,” Fu Xin murmured, a faint sigh slipping into her tone.
Jiang Siyue noticed the sudden shift. Why did that sound… so wistful?
“Fu-jie, what’s wrong?”
Fu Xin gave a small smile, voice quiet. “There was someone who treated me well once too. But… I lost her.”
“Who was it?” Siyue asked curiously.
Fu Xin shook her head. “It’s in the past.”
“Oh…” Siyue felt something strange stir inside her but didn’t get a chance to think further. Her phone buzzed—it was her manager calling.
Siyue glanced at Fu Xin and answered, “Yeah, I’m at Fu-jie’s place.”
“Check the trending topics,” her manager said bluntly.
Confused, Siyue opened her phone and tapped into the hot search list.
And there it was, in bold text:
