Did Scumbag A Get Divorced Today? - Chapter 43.1
Hearing Sui Yu’s words, Shen Jueshu’s lips curved into a faint smile.
“Do you know why I bit you earlier?” she asked.
“What?” Sui Yu blinked and obediently asked. The pain in her shoulder had already faded—especially after Shen Jueshu had licked the bite. That one gesture had completely erased her frustration.
“Because I had to punish you for lying to me,” Shen Jueshu said softly. “You made me think you really liked someone else… it felt like my heart was burning alive.”
Sui Yu pouted and muttered under her breath, “Well, who told you to get mad for no reason in the first place?”
Hearing that, Shen Jueshu lowered her head and bit her again. “Was I really mad for no reason? Or were you just too dense to understand?”
Sui Yu: “…” Okay, fine. It was her fault.
The two of them remained wrapped in each other’s arms. Even doing nothing, just being together like this already felt fulfilling.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. The door, not fully shut to begin with, creaked open from the knock. Both of them looked up—and locked eyes with a stunned Qin Qing standing at the threshold.
Sui Yu: “…”
Shen Jueshu: “…”
Qin Qing, who immediately realized her terrible timing and was equally shaken: “…”
“Is something the matter?” Shen Jueshu asked calmly, her expression barely shifting. She gracefully got off Sui Yu’s lap and began smoothing out the wrinkles in her clothes while speaking in a composed tone.
Qin Qing couldn’t keep up her usual professional smile. Her face was a bit stiff as she replied, “Everyone’s already gathered in the conference room, waiting for you, President Shen.” Even as she spoke, she couldn’t help but silently admire her boss.
To be caught in such an awkward moment and still not bat an eye… incredible.
And more than that—she never would’ve imagined Shen Jueshu to be the kind of person who’d take the initiative and straddle someone like that…
“I see. You go on ahead. I’ll be there shortly,” Shen Jueshu replied, still serene, as if nothing at all had happened.
“Understood.” Qin Qing responded, and then, very considerately, closed the door for them.
After the door shut, a flush of pink slowly crept up Shen Jueshu’s cheeks. She lowered her gaze and met Sui Yu’s wide-eyed, stunned expression.
“…What’s with that look?” she asked, frowning slightly.
Sui Yu toned down her expression and then couldn’t help but give her a thumbs-up. “How do you stay so calm?!”
That level of composure was unreal! Normally, when people got caught in situations like that, they’d flail and scramble apart. But Shen Jueshu? Unbothered. Collected. Like absolutely nothing was out of the ordinary.
Shen Jueshu’s face turned a bit redder. She gave Sui Yu a mock-annoyed glare. “If I didn’t stay calm, would you rather we be laughed at?”
Being seen like that was already embarrassing enough. Panicking would only make it worse. It wasn’t like they were having an affair—why act guilty?
Sui Yu: “…Fair point.”
Shen Jueshu didn’t reply. She continued fixing her clothes, trying to look a bit more presentable. But right as she focused, the troublemaker beside her made things difficult again.
Sui Yu wrapped her arms around Shen Jueshu’s waist, burying her face against her stomach like a clingy golden retriever, whining softly, “You’re going to a meeting?”
They’d just confirmed their relationship. She didn’t want to be apart—not for hours.
Shen Jueshu looked down at the head nuzzling her abdomen: “…”
She couldn’t help but reach out and stroke it. It really was just like petting a golden retriever. She sighed with helpless affection. “Alright, alright. We’ll see each other after work, okay?”
Sui Yu pouted slightly, clearly dissatisfied. She just wanted to spend time alone with Shen Jueshu.
But this time, Shen Jueshu didn’t indulge her. She pinched Sui Yu’s cheek and gently pushed her away. After finishing tidying herself up, she said, “Everyone’s waiting. I can’t be too late.”
Before she left, she bent down and kissed Sui Yu lightly on the lips. “Remember—not allowed to run off early again after work, okay?”
The kiss instantly quieted Sui Yu. She nodded obediently.
Seeing how docile she was, Shen Jueshu’s smile deepened. Though she really wanted to stay longer, reason ultimately won out, and she headed to the conference room.
When she walked in, Qin Qing instinctively glanced her way. Internally, she nodded with admiration—anyone seeing her now would never guess what had just happened.
Back in the office, Sui Yu looked at the untouched lunchbox on the desk and finally realized…
She’d distracted Shen Jueshu so much that she didn’t even get to eat before the meeting.
Guilt started bubbling up. But with Shen Jueshu already in the meeting, she couldn’t exactly pull her back out for lunch.
She stood up and stepped out of the office—only to spot Ding Qisi at a nearby workstation, busily working. Sui Yu looked down for a moment. As jealous as she was of her, she couldn’t deny there was a sliver of guilt.
It kind of felt like she had… taken Shen Jueshu from her.
But then she pursed her lips.
No. That’s not right.
She and Shen Jueshu liked each other. There was no “stealing” anything. And now that Shen Jueshu had awakened—her choice was her own.
As Sui Yu walked past the conference room, she caught a glimpse of Shen Jueshu inside. Even just sitting there, she radiated confidence and power.
A smile tugged at Sui Yu’s lips.
That’s my wife.
Shen Jueshu looked up at just the right moment and met her gaze. The faint curve of her lips barely showed—but her eyes told Sui Yu to go on with her work.
Sui Yu nodded, her smile far less restrained—sweet and bright.
She turned to leave, just as Ding Qisi looked up and caught sight of her back.
A faint bitterness rose in Ding Qisi’s chest.
Earlier, she had seen them through the crack in the office door—embracing each other.
That version of Shen Jueshu… made her want to be held too. Made her long to be the one special person in her arms.
Back in the lab, Sui Yu returned in an excellent mood. It was so obvious that the rest of the team could practically see the joy radiating off her.
They stared at this infamous Alpha—known throughout Linhai for her “reputation”—and couldn’t help but wonder.
Where was the supposed moral bankruptcy?
Let alone any messy behavior—she hadn’t even flirted with anyone else.
“Did you patch things up with President Shen?” Xia Ju asked cautiously.
They couldn’t help but admire Shen Jueshu. No one knew what kind of methods she had used, but she had somehow managed to firmly hold onto a notoriously unrestrained Alpha like Sui Yu—and judging by how Sui Yu looked now, she was absolutely loving it.
“Mhm~” Sui Yu responded cheerfully, in noticeably high spirits.
The others glanced at her love-struck expression and silently looked at the calendar. It was clearly winter, and yet Sui Yu was acting like she had stepped into spring.
“Of course she’s in a good mood. They made up,” Wang Yue commented. And honestly, it was for the best—seeing her now was much more pleasant than the gloomy version from the past few days.
Everyone else nodded in agreement, though her joy was definitely radiating a bit too intensely.
Sui Yu flew through the rest of the day’s work. Even though some of the experimental progress wasn’t ideal, she didn’t show the slightest sign of frustration. Instead, she wore a constant smile. When your heart is happy, even time seems to pass faster.
By the time she looked at the clock again, it was already five—almost time to get off work!
She cleaned and organized the lab equipment, then disinfected herself thoroughly before changing into her regular clothes and heading downstairs, intending to pick Shen Jueshu up so they could go home together.
But when she arrived, the meeting still wasn’t over.
Through the glass, she saw Shen Jueshu sitting inside, focused and serious, exuding a calm authority. A trace of pride curled at the corners of Sui Yu’s lips.
Shen Jueshu’s abilities were finally being fully recognized. Now that the internal dissenters had been removed, Suihe was truly becoming a stage for her to shine.
Sui Yu didn’t disturb her. She quietly walked past the conference room and headed to her office to wait.
Waiting for your wife to finish work… actually feels kind of nice.
Sitting in Shen Jueshu’s chair, Sui Yu pressed her lips together in a thoughtful smile. Their relationship had jumped straight from dating to marriage.
From calling her “girlfriend” to calling her “wife.”
And though she’d used the word “wife” before, now that their relationship had truly changed, just thinking it in her head made the term feel sweet and warm.
Around six o’clock, the meeting finally ended. It had taken almost the entire day, but it had been worth it—they had laid out clear direction for the future.
When Shen Jueshu returned to her office and opened the door, she saw Sui Yu waiting for her. Her lips curved slightly. “Done with work already?”
Sui Yu rushed over, throwing her arms around her and rubbing her face affectionately against hers. “I rushed to finish because I wanted to see you sooner.”
Feeling her wrap her arms around her like that, Shen Jueshu didn’t feel annoyed—on the contrary, she felt content.
She liked this clingy, affectionate side of Sui Yu.
She tilted her head and gave her a kiss under her jaw, her hand resting lightly on her waist in return.
They hugged for a while before Sui Yu nudged her, urging her to pack up and leave. “You didn’t get lunch earlier, did you? You must be starving.”
Shen Jueshu chuckled as she gathered her things. “Not really. I’m not hungry.”
Her appetite was small to begin with—sometimes she could go all day without eating and barely notice.
Sui Yu frowned, clearly worried. “You still need to eat regularly. Don’t push your body too far.”
Shen Jueshu glanced at her. “In that novel you read… did my health collapse or something?”
This wasn’t the first time Sui Yu had brought it up.
Sui Yu nodded solemnly. “After escaping the original character, you overworked yourself. You didn’t take care of your health… and in the end, you collapsed.”
Shen Jueshu: “…Got it. I’ll be more careful from now on.”
That response made Sui Yu beam.
Since today marked the first official day of their relationship, Sui Yu had made a point of arranging a small “celebration.” She’d called the housekeeper earlier to tell her not to prepare dinner—she was taking Shen Jueshu out for a special meal.
By the time the two of them arrived at Linhai’s most famous couple’s restaurant, it was already 7 p.m. Fortunately, Sui Yu had made a reservation in advance, so they skipped the wait and were shown directly to a small private booth.
The lighting was soft and dim, casting a romantic ambiance throughout. With tasteful little details setting the mood, it wasn’t surprising the restaurant had such high ratings.
The side of their private room facing outward was made entirely of glass, offering a panoramic view of the glittering cityscape and glowing high-rises in the distance.
