You Should’ve Said Earlier that you’re Such a Little Flirt! - Chapter 37
Before the wedding, Xu Qingqiong didn’t think it was a big deal; she figured it was just a marriage, nothing more.
But it felt different after all. She seemed to have thought of marriage far too simply.
Following that thought, she began to feel lucky again—lucky that she had met Lin Konglu, who had prevented her from making a hasty decision back then.
They had specifically shortened the wedding proceedings significantly, yet some segments remained unavoidable. Added up piece by piece, the scattered tasks still left her spinning and exhausted like a spinning top.
Finally, the ceremony ended, and the guests were left to their own devices.
Cong Yun pulled Xu Qingqiong away to take photos.
When Cong Yun got married previously, Xu Qingqiong hadn’t been able to attend the wedding in time, which she felt was quite a regret.
The wedding venue was a manor on a domestic island. Xu Qingqiong had only invited friends and Auntie Chun; the rest were mostly business associates from Ses. In truth, it wasn’t just a wedding, but a subtle networking event for business exchange.
Xu Qingqiong looked back and saw Lin Konglu standing where she was, holding a wine glass and chatting with people. She gave a hand gesture to indicate she was heading over there.
Lin Konglu smiled at her, signaling that she understood.
Xu Qingqiong lifted the hem of her dress. Cong Yun reached out to help her carry it with one hand while hooking her arm with the other, teasing: “As expected of the newlywed, very sweet indeed.”
Sweet? Her and Lin Konglu?
This was the first time Xu Qingqiong had heard that adjective used for them, and she found it quite novel. “Huh? Really?”
Cong Yun raised an eyebrow and poked her in the waist, saying dissatisfactorily: “What? You’re not allowed to show off your love in front of me.”
Xu Qingqiong didn’t mean it that way. She gave a small smile and changed the subject.
Cong Yun had a camera slung over her arm. She had loved photography since high school and was in the school’s photography club back then. She continued to shoot frequently after university and often went to anime conventions; her photography skills were excellent.
After taking a few photos, Xu Qingqiong went to the lounge to remove her hair accessories and change into a dress that was easier to move in. The crown on her head was a bit heavy, and it was making her neck ache.
A few days ago, Barfu had brought over a contract—an unconditional gift deed—for her to sign.
She had casually asked what it was.
At the time, Barfu only said it was for some jewelry and accessories to be used in the wedding.
Xu Qingqiong thought it was the ring and didn’t think much of it.
In fact, she had prepared a ring for Lin Konglu, but she hadn’t expected Lin Konglu to gift her this crown.
She squeezed the ring box, feeling a bit hesitant. Now, she actually didn’t know whether to give it or not.
Because the value of her own ring certainly couldn’t compare to this crown.
Cong Yun leaned in to examine it as well.
The gemstones were shimmering with radiant light. The design of the entire coronet was very grand, and the bluish-green gemstone embedded in the center could be detached and worn as a necklace.
If kept as a standalone piece, it would be highly collectible.
In short, it was clear that Lin Konglu had put a lot of heart into preparing this.
Cong Yun clicked her tongue and said, “Not bad, Lin Konglu is quite thoughtful.”
“I heard a saying before—that compared to a ring, a crown carries a deeper meaning. It represents: I respect you, I honor you, and I love you.”
This was the first time Xu Qingqiong had heard such a claim. “Huh? Really?”
Cong Yun said solemnly, “Yeah, I just made it up.”
Xu Qingqiong: “…”
However, those few sentences did spark some vague thoughts in her mind.
In the traditional sense, the meaning represented by a ring seemed to be deeper and more intimate. It felt as though once it was put on, you became partners, wives, and more importantly, your two lives would be intertwined from then on.
But the prerequisite was that it had to be out of mutual willingness.
What she meant was that both people had to be in love for the ring to have meaning.
Otherwise, the ring was more of a decoration—a constant reminder that you were living with someone you didn’t love.
She tentatively mentioned her guess. After saying it, she realized she might have let something slip.
Cong Yun didn’t know how she and Lin Konglu had met originally, nor did she know about the agreement they had signed.
But Cong Yun’s focus didn’t seem to be on that. Her expression changed slightly, and she unconsciously rubbed the ring on her finger. “Is… is that so?”
Xu Qingqiong noticed she was a bit distracted.
Actually, Xu Qingqiong had wanted to ask her for a long time what exactly had happened and why she had suddenly gotten married, but Cong Yun had always been very tight-lipped.
She called out, “Cong Yun?”
Cong Yun snapped back to reality. “What is it?”
Xu Qingqiong hesitated and shook her head. “…Nothing.”
Cong Yun lingered for a while longer before making an excuse that she was tired and returning to her room alone.
Now that both of us have our own secrets and hidden agendas, it’s fine—we’re even, Xu Qingqiong sighed.
Xu Qingqiong went back to greet a few more friends and chatted with Auntie Chun for a while. Despite how Auntie Chun usually spoke, she was actually the happiest person there today, nearly crying during the wedding toast.
Before she knew it, evening had arrived. There was a dinner gathering on the beach with a concert and many people.
She and Lin Konglu would not be participating in this part, leaving the guests to enjoy themselves.
She couldn’t find Lin Konglu in the crowd, so she returned to the hotel room and found that Lin Konglu had returned early and was currently removing her makeup.
Xu Qingqiong went to the bathroom to shower first.
After showering, she sat on the balcony sofa for a bit. When she turned her head, she saw a “Happy Wedding” red paper-cut tucked into a plate of fruit on the small coffee table.
The room didn’t have many decorations, but there was a sense of “newlywed” atmosphere everywhere. Outside was the sound of waves crashing against the reefs; the atmosphere was quiet and soft, and the light was hazy, carrying a hint of intimacy.
She saw two seabirds standing on a distant reef, trailing long tail feathers behind them—exceptionally beautiful.
Feeling a bit excited, she entered the room, originally intending to call Lin Konglu over to look at them.
However, after catching a glimpse, she froze, unable to look away.
Lin Konglu was still sitting in front of the mirror. To match the veil today, her hair had been completely braided and pinned up; now that it was undone, her hair fell in curls over her fair shoulders.
She wore a grass-green gown made of very light fabric that complemented her skin tone perfectly. Aside from beauty, this scene held an unexpected touch of intimacy and vulnerability.
Xu Qingqiong bit her lip, suddenly feeling an impulse. How should she put it?
She walked up behind her, her palm pressing against Lin Konglu’s shoulder and back, stroking gently. Seeing the scar on her shoulder, she leaned down and gave it a light kiss.
Lin Konglu tensed for a moment, then turned her head to look at her. “Qingqiong?”
Xu Qingqiong’s heart suddenly began to race. “There are two seabirds outside. Do you want to see them?”
Lin Konglu took her hand, naturally brought it to her lips for a kiss, and looked at her. “Are they beautiful?”
“Beautiful…” Xu Qingqiong’s train of thought stalled for a moment. “But there’s one more thing…”
Lin Konglu: “Hmm? What is it?”
Meeting her gaze, Xu Qingqiong pursed her lips and remained silent. Instead, she wrapped both arms around Lin Konglu’s waist, hugging her from behind while silently kissing her cheek.
Lin Konglu froze for a moment, her eyelashes fluttering slightly.
Ambiguity spread and the atmosphere grew hazy, like a prairie fire igniting cold bodies and dormant desires.
Their two tangled bodies collapsed onto the soft mattress as things began to escalate.
Just as Lin Konglu continued to kiss her way downward, Xu Qingqiong stopped her. “Wait a moment.”
Lin Konglu paused and looked at her, their noses touching, her fingertips gently stroking Xu Qingqiong’s slender waist.
Meeting her gaze, Xu Qingqiong took a deep breath, summoned her courage, and after a moment of preparation, whispered nervously and suggestively: “Um, although I don’t have any experience… but, but… do you want to let me try?”
…
Lin Konglu rejected her, but not entirely.
More specifically, she didn’t voice a rejection at the time.
Xu Qingqiong had zero experience; she was like a student driver hitting the road for the first time, filled with ignorance and nerves.
Moving with extreme caution, she had only kissed her way to Lin Konglu’s chest when she realized that Lin Konglu’s body was rigid. Her eyes were closed and her chest was heaving, but the rims of her eyes were turning red. Xu Qingqiong panicked instantly. “Did I do something wrong?”
Lin Konglu opened her eyes to look at her, seeing her sitting on the bed looking utterly lost, her ears practically drooping in dejection.
Lin Konglu had no choice but to cup her face and kiss her, saying quite insincerely: “…No.”
Xu Qingqiong let out a soft “Ah,” looking up at her gloomily, clearly unconvinced. “But you’re about to cry.”
Lin Konglu: “…”
The two of them locked eyes, remaining in a stalemate for a while.
Lin Konglu comforted her: “It’s fine, you can continue.”
Xu Qingqiong shook her head and refused, propping herself up with her arms to back away. “No.”
Xu Qingqiong thought to here if I haven’t even done anything yet and Lin Konglu is already starting to cry.
If I actually did something, wouldn’t that be the end of it?
She was bewildered. Was her technique really that terrible?
Although she lacked experience, she had been with Lin Konglu for so long that she knew a thing or two. How could she be this bad?!
Feeling a bit hurt, she said dryly, “I’m sorry,” for giving Lin Konglu a bad experience.
Lin Konglu was stunned for a moment, then showed great tolerance. She sat up, kissed the tip of Xu Qingqiong’s nose, and comforted her: “It’s okay, you did very well.”
That was a blatant lie.
Xu Qingqiong didn’t believe it for a second.
Lin Konglu gently hooked one of her calves around Xu Qingqiong’s and said helplessly: “Shall we try something else?”
Xu Qingqiong gave a short gasp.
…
There was no one person in control, and no one person surrendering.
For Xu Qingqiong, this was a very novel experience.
It was simply a quiet catering to one another—embracing each other and enjoying the pleasure simultaneously.
Fine beads of sweat broke out on the bridge of her nose. This position was gentle, yet somehow more intense.
She arched her body, her hands propped on Lin Konglu’s shoulders. She saw a thin mist rise in Lin Konglu’s eyes, shimmering like ripples on water before quietly receding.
In the past, Lin Konglu had always been the more active one, occupying the dominant position. Now, that dominance was quietly being shared with Xu Qingqiong.
Xu Qingqiong kissed her purely by instinct, holding her tight with a touch of greenness and deepening the physical connection between them with a sense of reckless abandon.
It was rare to see Lin Konglu looking so flustered. The tears that had just receded from her eyes suddenly resurfaced, like juice being squeezed from crushed petals—crystal clear, acting as a signal.
A signal that spoke of pleasure.
Suddenly, Xu Qingqiong found the joy in it.
