You Should’ve Said Earlier that you’re Such a Little Flirt! - Chapter 34
This was the first time Lin Konglu had ever tried to express herself like this, and her tone was quite unnatural.
But it wasn’t as difficult as she had imagined. Longing brimmed in her chest, and it seemed to flow out of her naturally.
Xu Qingqiong could never have imagined that Lin Konglu would speak this way one day. Her first reaction was to wonder if she had misheard.
Thinking she hadn’t heard, Lin Konglu repeated, “I miss you.”
Actually, Xu Qingqiong was someone who was very good at expressing her emotions, but at this moment, she didn’t know what to say. Caught off guard, she felt a wave of panic in her heart.
Her first instinct was to head to the bedroom to calm down, but she forgot that Lin Konglu was still holding her ankle.
She tried to stand up in a daze, lost her balance, and let out a short “Ah!”
Lin Konglu was quick to react, pulling her back so that she sat right in her lap.
Meeting her gaze, Xu Qingqiong pressed both hands against Lin’s chest, momentarily speechless. “I…”
But Lin Konglu seemed to be simply expressing a thought, not expecting a response. She rested her chin on Xu’s shoulder and held her quietly.
Not knowing where to put her hands, Xu Qingqiong finally settled for patting Lin’s head. Her thoughts were a mess. After a long pause, she managed a dry reply: “Thank you.”
As soon as she said it, she felt it was too cold.
Lin Konglu said she missed her! How could she just say “thank you”?
So, she tried to make amends: “I… I missed you a bit too.”
Lin Konglu: “Mhm.” Then she suddenly made a request: “I want to hold you for a while.”
Xu Qingqiong: “Huh? Oh, okay.”
The atmosphere suddenly turned quiet.
Lin Konglu wrapped her arms around Xu’s waist, pulling her tightly into her embrace. It was a simple hug; no one spoke, and no one moved.
Xu Qingqiong had been exhausted these past few days, and Lin Konglu’s embrace was very comfortable. She relaxed her strength and leaned against Lin’s shoulder, being held like she was boneless. Before long, she dizzily closed her eyes.
Hearing the breathing in her ear gradually become steady and slow, Lin Konglu glanced sideways and realized she had fallen asleep.
She was like a little sweet cake soaked in honey.
But to those she wasn’t familiar with, she was like a hard clam shell.
Now, with her eyes closed, she looked so defenseless it made one’s heart soften.
Lin Konglu stared at her for a while and then blew gently on her eyelashes. The puff of air on her eye made Xu Qingqiong feel itchy; she hummed in annoyance and buried her head impatiently into the crook of Lin’s neck.
Lin Konglu didn’t dare move after that, fearing she would wake her. She sat quietly on the sofa holding her for a while, waiting until she was deeply asleep before carrying her to bed.
When she was placed on the bed, Xu gripped the fabric of Lin’s sleeve and wouldn’t let go. Not wanting to wake her, Lin Konglu purposefully kissed the back of her hand. Feeling the tickle, Xu finally pulled her hand away.
Lin Konglu tucked her in, stood by the bed watching her for a moment, and then went to the study to handle some work.
Half an hour later, Lin Konglu came back to see if she was awake.
She wasn’t; she was still sleeping.
Suddenly, Xu Qingqiong whispered her name. “Lin Konglu.”
She added, “Don’t go.”
Thinking she was awake, Lin Konglu answered her, but when Xu didn’t speak again, she realized she must be dreaming. She didn’t know what Xu was dreaming about, but her brow was furrowed tight, her lips pursed, looking as if she were about to cry.
Lin had no choice but to take her into her arms again, gently patting her back.
After a while, Xu Qingqiong clung tightly to her neck and began to sob quietly.
Sensing something was wrong, Lin Konglu called her name several times. “Qingqiong?”
Xu Qingqiong looked at her blankly, blinking her damp eyelashes. Not yet free from the emotions of the dream, she said subconsciously: “Don’t leave.”
“I’m not leaving.” Lin Konglu wiped away her tears and asked, “Had a nightmare?”
Xu Qingqiong processed this for a moment, nodding and then shaking her head.
Perhaps Lin Konglu’s “I miss you” from earlier had made a deep impact.
She had a bizarre dream.
She seemed to be fourteen or fifteen, and there was a miniature version of Lin Konglu wearing the Shuren Middle School uniform, her face still carrying a bit of baby fat.
The only difference was that the mini-Lin Konglu wasn’t so cold; she was actually a bit “moe.” She followed behind Xu with her backpack on, looking incredibly obedient.
In the dream, Xu Qingqiong even teased her: “I’m older than you, you should call me ‘Sister’ (Jie-jie).”
The mini-Lin Konglu hesitated, her small face tense, before reluctantly speaking: “Sister.”
She couldn’t remember the rest clearly. There seemed to be a car accident—a loud bang, lots of blood, hot and scarlet… she heard crying and looked down to see Lin Konglu weeping… Lin Konglu was being held tightly in her arms… it hurt so much, so much…
In short, it was surreal and left her feeling a bit breathless.
Xu Qingqiong lay on the pillow for a while to recover, then tried to distract herself by asking, “I’m older than you, right?”
Lin Konglu paused and nodded.
In reality, they were the same age; Xu Qingqiong was only older by a month.
But in Xu Qingqiong’s eyes, even if it was just one month, one day, or one minute, she was the older sister.
With her cartilage piercing, Xu Qingqiong used to look like a “problem girl” who didn’t study hard. She often looked out for Lin, and if anyone bullied her, she would fight them off.
But there was a condition: Lin had to call her “Sister.”
At first, Lin Konglu was very reluctant, but since she couldn’t win a fight against her, she had called her that quite humiliatingly.
Back then, one of Xu Qingqiong’s greatest pleasures was cornering her to make her say it. Whenever she ran into her, she had to tease her.
Later, when Lin was finally willing to say it, Xu Qingqiong didn’t need it anymore.
Xu Qingqiong buried her face in the pillow, thinking about how “low-taste” her dream was. Just thinking about Lin Konglu calling her “Sister” made her arms tingle and her heart thud.
Heavens, she hardly dared to imagine it.
Seeing her face flushed from sleep, Lin Konglu touched her forehead, worried she had caught a cold in the car. “What’s wrong?”
Xu Qingqiong shook her head. “Nothing, just asking.”
After a while, she reached out and poked her, looking as if she wanted to say something but was hesitating.
Lin Konglu looked down at her. Xu hid half her face behind the duvet, showing only her eyes, looking at her indecisively.
“By rights, I should call you ‘Sister,'” Lin Konglu guessed her thoughts. “Do you want to hear me say it?”
Xu Qingqiong hadn’t expected her to bring it up first. She wanted to—desperately—but she was also embarrassed to hear it.
She hugged the pillow to her chest, burying her chin to hide her face, and let out a muffled “Mhm.”
Then, skeptically, she asked, “For real?”
“For real.” Surprisingly, Lin Konglu didn’t hesitate and agreed readily. “Tonight.”
Xu didn’t realize what Lin Konglu meant by that.
In the afternoon, the two went to try on wedding dresses. The designer had sent them a catalog in advance, and Xu Qingqiong flipped through the images on her phone.
They had seen many collections before; this designer was recommended by a friend.
After scrolling through a few, Xu immediately spotted a mermaid-style dress. The hem was a gradient of cyan and green, light and ethereal. it was striking.
Cyan and green tones are quite rare for wedding dresses, as white and black are usually the mainstream.
She called out to Lin Konglu and pointed. “This one.”
Lin Konglu leaned over to look.
Xu Qingqiong asked for her opinion: “What do you think?” She felt it really suited Lin Konglu’s aura; it was beautiful.
She didn’t particularly like those large trailing dresses; they were too heavy and felt restrictive. She preferred this kind of clean-lined, simple, and elegant style.
Lin Konglu: “Let’s go try it.”
Xu Qingqiong sat on the sofa waiting for her to come out.
Lin Konglu turned around to face her. “How is it? Does it look good?”
Lin Konglu was tall and slender, showing off her snowy-white neck and shoulders. Her long hair draped behind her, her silhouette graceful. The hem was embellished with gradient cyan-green rhinestones that shimmered like ripples as she walked. She looked like… like…
Xu Qingqiong was momentarily at a loss for words, her gaze lingering longingly on her.
It wasn’t until they got home that she suddenly thought of the perfect description—like a little mermaid. The hem was her wide, nimble tail, and her hair was like sea grass…
Hearing the analogy, Lin Konglu couldn’t help but smile. “But I don’t like princes; I like queens.”
Xu Qingqiong let out an “Ah?” and asked confusedly, “Shouldn’t it be princesses?”
Lin Konglu glanced at her without saying a word and went to shower.
Xu Qingqiong flopped onto the bed. Hearing the sound of splashing water from the bathroom, she suddenly remembered what Lin Konglu had said at noon, and she felt a sudden surge of excitement.
She wondered if Lin Konglu still remembered.
She hugged her pillow and sat up straight, waiting for her to come out.
She reminded her: “You said at noon you were going to call me…”
Lin Konglu gave an “Mhm” and lowered her eyes slightly. She suddenly leaned in to kiss her, her body still carrying the dampness of the shower; even the kiss felt humid.
Xu Qingqiong was caught off guard by the kiss.
…
Lin Konglu pulled her onto her lap, letting her take control of the pace. Just as they were about to reach the peak, Lin Konglu suddenly whispered, “Sister.”
She stared into her eyes, repeating the word over and over.
She even asked slowly in her ear, “Sister, my hands are so wet. Sister, why are my hands covered in your…” She bit the last word between her teeth, emphasizing it for her.
Xu Qingqiong never expected Lin Konglu to say such “vulgar” things, especially with that cold, beautiful face. It felt like a rush of menthol hitting her brain.
She couldn’t hold back.
Instantly, her face turned a deep red, and she bit her lip hard.
The double pleasure—physical and psychological—hit her at once. She felt like a boat drifting on the sea, suddenly losing sensation of her body, losing control.
…
She leaned in Lin Konglu’s arms for a while to recover, her cheeks flushed and her neck covered in a fine sheen of sweat. In a shy tone, she said slowly, “Don’t do that next time.”
Lin Konglu asked, “You didn’t like it?”
She liked it, but it was too intense.
She felt Lin Konglu’s “evolution” was moving too fast; she almost couldn’t keep up.
Lin Konglu looked at her expression. “Okay, I won’t do it again later.”
Xu Qingqiong slapped her arm, her eyelashes trembling, and said with some difficulty, “No, I mean… only ‘next’ time no. The time after that, I still want it.”
“Okay.” Lin Konglu chuckled and buried her head in the crook of Xu’s neck, holding her. After a quiet moment, she suddenly called out, “Qingqiong.”
Xu Qingqiong: “Mhm?”
Lin Konglu called again: “Sister.”
Xu Qingqiong: “What is it?”
Lin Konglu didn’t call her again this time. She just held her tighter, trying to hide her own lack of composure.
She just felt… happy.
