You Should’ve Said Earlier that you’re Such a Little Flirt! - Chapter 33
Soon enough, Xu Qingqiong realized it wasn’t just an illusion.
Lin Konglu had indeed become much more proactive.
For starters, she sent red roses every single day for a week straight. This left Xu Qingqiong a bit puzzled—she wasn’t even angry anymore, so why keep sending them? However, she didn’t say anything, mostly because she actually quite enjoyed the feeling of receiving flowers.
Furthermore, whenever Lin Konglu got off work early, she would drive over to pick her up. Previously, Xu Qingqiong usually cycled or took the subway home since the art museum wasn’t that far away.
This inadvertently increased their time alone together. Sometimes, seeing Lin Konglu standing quietly at the entrance waiting for her to get off work gave Xu Qingqiong a dazed sensation—it felt as though they had been living a settled, married life for a very long time.
Wedding preparations were moving forward simultaneously. Xu Qingqiong didn’t care much about the specific date; she wasn’t superstitious about “auspicious days,” so she just picked one at random.
It was set for one month later.
This was a fairly tight schedule, as pre-wedding preparations are notoriously tedious. Fortunately, they had already done some prep work beforehand, so the timeframe was manageable.
The only difference was that while Xu Qingqiong had previously felt like she was simply ticking off tasks on a mandatory checklist, she now felt a faint, hazy sense of unknown anticipation.
Regarding work, Xu Qingqiong had become much more adept and had begun taking charge of specific projects. It so happened that the museum was coordinating with a foreign institution. After the exhibits cleared customs, Xu Qingqiong was responsible for tracking the transportation. Because the shipment included a master-level unique piece—priceless and irreplaceable—she had to accompany it the entire way to ensure nothing went wrong.
In plain English: she had to go on a business trip for about a week.
She traveled with two colleagues, a woman and a man. They arrived early in the evening, the day before they were set to meet the counterpart team.
That night, the three of them went out for dinner. On their way back, they stopped at a convenience store to buy water. After picking out a bottle, the female colleague walked over to a shelf and casually picked up a small box.
Xu Qingqiong paused, her gaze inadvertently lingering on the item.
Meeting her eyes, the girl gave her a bright, open smile without a hint of shyness. “My girlfriend happens to be in this city. She’s coming over to see me tonight.”
Xu Qingqiong nodded slightly but remained silent.
The girl took the initiative to continue: “Qingqiong, you could try these too.” She had seen Lin Konglu before, which was why she felt comfortable bringing up the topic.
Xu Qingqiong frowned slightly. Previously, Lin Konglu had been the one to buy those things; she had never bought them herself. Now that she was looking, she realized there were so many varieties with all sorts of colorful descriptions.
It was like a door to a new world had been opened. Xu Qingqiong felt a bit dizzy just looking at them.
Seeing her expression, the girl pointed to one and said, “This one—my girlfriend says the ‘sensation’ is better.” She added, “The one I’m buying today is a bit more intense; I personally prefer that.”
The girl was truly natural sales material. After a few sentences, Xu Qingqiong bought both kinds.
A week later, Xu Qingqiong finally returned.
It had been an exhausting few days. To ensure the safety of the exhibits, she’d had to perform repeated checks and follow the transport vehicle. Because of the precious cargo, the vehicle couldn’t go fast, which was incredibly draining.
Lin Konglu had texted ahead of time to ask for her schedule and was there to pick her up.
Seeing her from a distance, Xu Qingqiong gestured for her to wait a moment. Only after the exhibits were formally handed over and moved into the vault—confirming everything was perfect—did she finally breathe a sigh of relief. In a couple of days, once the gallery was set up, the collection would be open to the public.
Xu Qingqiong grabbed a drink of water, changed her clothes, and clocked out.
Lin Konglu was standing under a tree by the museum entrance. When she saw Xu Qingqiong emerge, she got into the car and started the engine. “Tired?”
Xu Qingqiong climbed in and buckled her seatbelt, nodding. “A little.”
After that, the two shared a tacit silence.
When the car pulled into the garage, Lin Konglu unbuckled her seatbelt but didn’t get out. She called her name softly, “Qingqiong.”
Xu Qingqiong hummed in response and turned to look at her.
This was a first—the first time in the car.
They had only been apart for a week. Xu Qingqiong didn’t think she had missed Lin Konglu that much, but the moment Lin Konglu pulled her into a tight embrace, cupped her face, and kissed her, everything changed. As Lin Konglu’s kisses fell thick and fast against her ear, whispering “Qingqiong… Qingqiong…” her heart felt heavy with longing.
Desire and emotion fused together. Their hurried breaths mingled, and the feelings in her heart were suddenly magnified. It was like a soda can that had been shaken for too long—the moment the tab was pulled, bubbles exploded everywhere.
So much so that when Lin Konglu tried to pull back with a shred of restraint, Xu Qingqiong’s head was spinning. She slumped into Lin Konglu’s arms, her voice soft and yielding. “Don’t… right here.”
Seeing Lin Konglu look a bit stunned, Xu Qingqiong rubbed her nose against her neck and pressed the small box she had bought into Lin Konglu’s palm. She urged, “Hurry up.”
The girl at the convenience store hadn’t lied; the experience was indeed very good.
Xu Qingqiong knelt on the back seat, eyes squeezed shut and face buried against the backrest. She didn’t dare make a sound as a sensation like an electric current surged through her spine. Lin Konglu held her from behind, her palms providing gentle, rhythmic comfort while she kissed the nape of her neck.
Afterward, however, there was a pang of regret.
She had made a mess of Lin Konglu’s trousers—a very obvious spot. Lin Konglu didn’t say anything, but Xu Qingqiong was dying of embarrassment. She couldn’t stop thinking: How did I let lust go to my head like that?
Back at home, she watched Lin Konglu’s movements. When she saw Lin Konglu change clothes and toss the trousers into the washing machine, Xu Qingqiong still felt a bit flustered.
Lin Konglu turned around and saw Xu Qingqiong standing not far away, her ears and cheeks still stained with a lingering flush.
Recognizing exactly what she was thinking, Lin Konglu walked over, cupped her face, and kissed her cheek. She whispered, “That was wonderful.”
Xu Qingqiong blinked, asking awkwardly, “Was it?”
Lin Konglu: “Mhm. I liked it.”
On the surface, Xu Qingqiong gave a faint “Oh,” and suppressed a smile by pursing her lips. But her eyes brightened instantly. Inwardly, she thought: Actually, I liked it too.
She casually added, “We can… try more often then.”
Lin Konglu: “Okay.”
Little did Xu Qingqiong know that in the days to come, she would deeply regret saying those words.
Lin Konglu then asked, “Do your knees hurt?”
Xu Qingqiong shook her head. “No.” She had only been kneeling for a little while; she wasn’t that fragile.
“Let me see,” Lin Konglu insisted.
Xu Qingqiong gave in and sat on the sofa, resting her legs across Lin Konglu’s lap. Lin Konglu held her ankle and carefully rolled up her pant leg to check.
Xu Qingqiong asked, “Is something wrong?”
Lin Konglu held her ankle, her eyes downcast. After a long silence, she suddenly gave an answer that seemed unrelated to the question: “I missed you.”
The words came out of nowhere, yet the setting was so natural. It was like a small arrow—swift and precise—striking right at the center of Xu Qingqiong’s heart.
Xu Qingqiong didn’t even react at first. She propped herself up on her arms and stared at her for several seconds, completely stunned.
