The moment Qin Xiaozhe caught sight of Mu Yichen, his face betrayed unconcealed astonishment. He had followed Nanxi here, so how could it be Mu Yichen emerging from the house? After scrutinizing the doorplate carefully, he realized this was actually Miss Nan’s residence. As Nan family’s eldest daughter’s fiancé, Mu Yichen’s presence here was hardly surprising.

“President Mu, I’m here to find my wife, Nanxi,” Qin Xiaozhe stated his purpose.

Mu Yichen stood at the doorway, blocking Qin Xiaozhe’s line of sight. “There’s no Mrs. Qin here.”

“I understand you might not believe me, but I saw her enter with my own eyes.”

Mu Yichen let out a cold laugh. “This is the Nan residence. The person you’re looking for isn’t here.”

Having come this far, Qin Xiaozhe wasn’t about to leave empty-handed. To find her, he had no choice but to swallow his pride and reveal the truth. “My wife came here with another man one of your bodyguards, President Mu.”

“Oh? Is that so?”

“Yes. My wife is deliberately provoking me by being with other men. I never expected she’d dare to involve your bodyguard this time. Once I find her today, I’ll teach her a proper lesson and make her understand where she went wrong.”

With that, Qin Xiaozhe attempted to push his way inside.

Mu Yichen took a step forward, blocking his path. His expression darkened as he glared at Qin Xiaozhe, as if his gaze alone could bore a hole through him. Nanxi had given so much for the Qin Corporation and for Qin Xiaozhe, yet in his words, she was made to sound so despicable. Such a man was truly detestable.

“President Mu, what do you mean by this?”

Instead of answering, Mu Yichen asked him, “What business do you have with her?”

Given the Qin Corporation’s current dire straits and the fact that Nanxi was now working at the Mu Corporation, Qin Xiaozhe decided to demand her return. “To be frank, President Mu, the Qin Corporation is facing difficulties. Many partners have canceled their collaborations. These matters were originally handled by my wife, and now we need her to resolve them.”

Upon hearing this, Mu Yichen lifted his eyes slightly and cast a disdainful glance at Qin Xiaozhe. “Those canceled collaborations with the Qin Corporation were done at my directive.”

Qin Xiaozhe’s face froze in shock. “What did you say?”

He had indeed suspected as much, especially since he had angered Mu Yichen when he found Nan Xi at the Mu Corporation a few days ago. But he couldn’t believe that Mu Yichen would oppose the Qin Corporation over a mere project manager like Nanxi. Now, hearing it directly from Mu Yichen, Qin Xiaozhe had no choice but to believe it.

With that, Mu Yichen ignored Qin Xiaozhe any further and instructed Zhai Qiao, “Take him to the police station. Report him for trespassing.”

Before Qin Xiaozhe could even process who “her” referred to, he was escorted to the police station.

Sitting in the interrogation room, he seethed with anger. Being delivered here by Mu Yichen, he knew it would be difficult to leave today. He called Nanxi, intending to have her bail him out, but as the call went through, he remembered she had already blocked his number. Furious, he threw his phone, only to pick it up a few seconds later and call Lin Rufei.

However, no matter how many times he dialed, no one answered on the other end.

Qin Xiaozhe’s face tightened with rage as he sat on the chair, overwhelmed with disappointment.

“Whose call was that? Why aren’t you answering?” At the Lin residence, Mrs. Lin entered the room, noticing her daughter angrily tossing her phone aside.

“It’s all because of Qin Xiaozhe. He secretly went to see Nanxi and even tried to get her to come back as Mrs. Qin. When I asked him about it, he wouldn’t answer my calls and just brushed me off. Now that he’s calling me, I’m not picking up.”

She wasn’t that easy to appease. Did he really think a few phone calls could make everything go back to the way it was? What a joke.

Seeing her daughter’s anger, Mrs. Lin smiled and sat down beside her, gently smoothing her hair. “Silly girl, I know you’re upset, but if you keep ignoring his calls and Xiaozhe really stops caring, what will you do then?”

“He wouldn’t dare!”

“Men are like dogs. No matter how good the meat is, they’ll get tired of it eventually. You need to learn to mix things up be considerate but also show generosity. He’s not answering your calls because he’s holding a grudge, but you should answer his. That shows you’re understanding, and men love women who are sensible and obedient.”

“Women are like water. You have to use softness to overcome hardness, that’s how you keep a man’s heart. Listen to me, call him back now. Say you didn’t hear the phone earlier, and speak to him gently.”

“Have you forgotten? Qin Xiaozhe was willing to abandon Nanxi and treat you like a treasure, all because I played the strategist for you.”

Thinking about how Qin Xiaozhe had patiently coaxed her before, Lin Rufei fell silent. It was true, whenever her mother gave her advice, Qin Xiaozhe would patiently comfort her and let her have her way. But when she handled things on her own, he had shown impatience a few times. It seemed she really should listen to her mother.

Lin Rufei was stunned, but her mother urged her, “Go quickly. This is the perfect opportunity to strengthen your bond. If you help him now, his attitude toward you will completely change.”

Lin Rufei went.

Watching her daughter leave, Mrs. Lin stared at her retreating figure and sneered, “That bitch Nanxi, trying to steal a man from my daughter? She should take a good look at herself.”

As Mrs. Lin finished speaking, noises came from inside the house. She turned and headed to the study. Pushing the door open, she saw her husband yelling at his assistant.

“Why are our partners canceling their collaborations? If you can’t even handle something like this, what good are you?”

The assistant hung his head, anxious and ashamed.

“You can go now,” Mrs. Lin dismissed the assistant and walked behind her husband, massaging his shoulders. “These collaborations were going smoothly, then suddenly canceled. There must be something wrong here, and it’s not the assistant’s fault. He can’t fix this.”

Mr. Lin sighed and asked his wife, “Where do you think the problem lies?”

Mrs. Lin smiled faintly, moved around the chair, and sat opposite her husband, her expression turning serious. “The Qin Corporation is facing the same issue, and it started even earlier than ours. If I’m not mistaken, our current problems are a result of being dragged down by the Qin Corporation.”

“Would Mu Yichen get angry over a woman?” Mr. Lin asked in surprise.

Given Mu Yichen’s status, why would he bother getting upset over a mere project manager?

Mother Lin, however, had guessed the reason. “A woman who can make a man go all out for her relies on nothing more than her face and her body.”

“A woman Qin Xiaozhe discarded, how could she have that kind of charm? And we’re talking about Mu Yichen here.”

What kind of woman hadn’t Mu Yichen seen? Besides, he was already engaged to the eldest daughter of the Nan family, how could he possibly be interested in a divorced woman like her?

Mother Lin curled her lips into a smile. “Don’t underestimate women. I’ve seen Nanxi before, she’s decent-looking and has a passable figure. If she sets her mind to seducing him, Mu Yichen won’t be able to resist.”

If Mu Yichen really targeted their two families because of Nanxi, dealing with the situation would be tricky.

Father Lin frowned anxiously. “What should we do then?”

“Easy.” Mother Lin lifted her chin, confident and composed. “If the Nan family finds out someone is trying to seduce Mu Yichen and ruin their alliance, they’ll handle it properly without us having to lift a finger.”
