Xu Shijiu was certain that Lin Xinyi had done it on purpose. Otherwise, how could it have been such a coincidence? Xu Shijiu had just stepped through the door when Lin Xinyi’s heat period suddenly began, and her pheromones erupted uncontrollably.

But even with the last trace of rational thought, Xu Shijiu could not resist the overwhelming temptation of Lin Xinyi’s gardenia-scented pheromones and her delicate, enticing body.

From the doorway to the bedroom, their clothes were scattered across the floor.

From the bright light of day until the moon rose into the night sky, the sounds of breathing, sometimes heavy and sometimes gentle, never stopped. They had slept together. And Xu Shijiu had marked Lin Xinyi, even if it was only temporary.

Shocked, Xu Shijiu struggled to process this. She forced herself to remember what had happened the night before.

What had led them to this?

It was Lin Xinyi’s sudden burst of pheromones.

Xu Shijiu’s rut and Lin Xinyi’s heat had started around the same time. When her rut approached, Xu Shijiu became especially sensitive to Omega pheromones. The phone was still ringing.

Lin Xinyi stirred, clearly disturbed by the sound, and let out a soft, aggrieved noise. Her eyelids were too heavy to open.

Xu Shijiu snapped out of her daze, quickly grabbed her phone, and intended to silence it. But when she saw the caller ID that read “Elder Sister,” she cleared her throat and answered the call.

“Xiaojiu, where did you go last night? The driver told me you rushed off in a panic and drove yourself without letting the bodyguard follow,” Xu Manyue’s voice was filled with concern and urgency. If Xu Shijiu had delayed any longer in answering, she would have already sent someone to investigate.

Xu Shijiu gently covered Lin Xinyi’s ears and replied in a low voice, “Sister, I… I had something to take care of last night. Don’t worry, I’m fine.”

“Something to take care of?” Xu Manyue sounded suspicious. “What kind of thing?”

Xu Shijiu was at a loss for words. How was she supposed to explain?

Was she supposed to say she had spent the night at Lin Xinyi’s place? That they had slept together? That she, as an Alpha, had marked Lin Xinyi?

How could she possibly say that out loud?

“It was just something personal. Please don’t ask me more, Sister,” she answered softly, trying to avoid further questioning.

Perhaps her voice had been too loud, because Lin Xinyi muttered in a hoarse whisper, “Stop talking…”

Her voice was soft and raspy. In any other situation, Xu Shijiu would have felt heartache just hearing it. But now, all she felt was anxiety, helplessness, and a sense of panic she could not shake.

There was silence on the other end of the call. Xu Shijiu could even hear her sister breathing.

“Who’s with you?” Xu Manyue’s voice suddenly turned cold.

Xu Shijiu shivered. All the confidence she had built over the past three years as an executive collapsed in front of her sister’s icy tone. She did not have the courage to lie, and finally admitted honestly, “It’s Lin Xinyi…”

Xu Manyue was stunned. She had assumed that another Omega had seduced her younger sister, and she had even felt angry on Lin Xinyi’s behalf. She never expected that the relationship between Xu Shijiu and Lin Xinyi had progressed this far without her knowledge.

“You two… what did you do?” Xu Manyue still could not believe it just from the hoarse voice in the background.

Admitting this kind of thing in front of her sister, her only family, made her want to crawl under the covers and disappear.

“That’s enough. I understand.” Xu Manyue quickly stopped her. She had experienced these things herself, but hearing her younger sister admit it still left her shaken. No amount of personal experience could prepare her for this.

“Okay,” Xu Shijiu whispered with a sigh of relief. At least she didn’t have to continue explaining.

Xu Manyue was still baffled. Just recently, she had been trying to figure out how to bring the two of them closer after their three years apart. She had been thinking about how to help them rebuild trust and connection. But while she was still making plans, the two had already ended up in bed together.

She could tell from the background that Lin Xinyi was still asleep, so she didn’t press further. After giving a few reminders, she ended the call.

“Omegas usually have a hard time their first time. Take good care of Xiaoyi. I won’t bother you anymore. Spend some time with her.”

Before Xu Shijiu could say anything, the call ended. She felt awkward and flustered. Part of her wanted to defend herself, but then she realized there really wasn’t much she could say in her defense.

She had marked Lin Xinyi. She had taken Lin Xinyi’s first time. Of course she should take care of her.

But something still felt off.

Suddenly, Xu Shijiu frowned in confusion.

Yes, she had marked Lin Xinyi. Yes, she had taken her first time. But…

Wasn’t it Lin Xinyi who had deliberately used her pheromones to seduce her yesterday?

Although she was still angry, Xu Shijiu briefly considered leaving and letting the Omega rest alone. However, when she looked down at Lin Xinyi sleeping peacefully in her arms, her heart softened. After everything, she couldn’t bring herself to disturb Lin Xinyi’s much-needed rest.

“Did I owe you something in a past life?” Xu Shijiu muttered under her breath. Her voice carried a note of helplessness, as if she was talking to Lin Xinyi, but more like she was speaking to herself.

Lying there, surrounded by the calming scent of gardenias, it didn’t take long before Xu Shijiu drifted back to sleep.

When Lin Xinyi finally woke up after a full night’s rest and saw the scene in front of her, she didn’t panic at all. After all, she had already mentally prepared herself. At first, she hadn’t planned to seduce Xu Shijiu. And she wasn’t trying to make excuses.

It really had been a coincidence.

Right after Xu Shijiu walked in, just as if fate had timed it perfectly, Lin Xinyi’s pheromones had suddenly burst out of control.

Lin Xinyi admitted to herself that what followed, she had done intentionally.

Facing Xu Shijiu’s clear eyes, still carrying a trace of anger, Lin Xinyi pretended not to understand and asked softly, “What’s wrong?”

She shifted slightly, trying to pull her arm out from under Lin Xinyi’s head. But the moment she moved, Lin Xinyi panicked and wrapped her arms tightly around Xu Shijiu’s waist.

Xu Shijiu froze.

Was Lin Xinyi still half-asleep? Did she not realize they were both completely naked?

The sudden closeness was far too overwhelming for Xu Shijiu.

“Where are you going?”

Lin Xinyi didn’t even realize the awkwardness of the situation. Her mind was filled with anxiety, afraid that Xu Shijiu would leave her behind. She was terrified that her actions yesterday, her deliberate seduction, had disgusted Xu Shijiu.

Xu Shijiu had been about to push her away, but when she heard the fear and unease in Lin Xinyi’s voice, her hand paused in midair. Instead, she gently patted Lin Xinyi’s back.

“I just wanted to get my arm out. You’ve been lying on it all day. It’s completely numb…”

She truly couldn’t take the pain anymore. Every slight movement sent a sharp tingling sensation through her arm, and she had already endured it for nearly an entire day.

“Huh?” Lin Xinyi blinked in confusion at Xu Shijiu’s expression and finally noticed the arm she had been using as a pillow. She quickly lifted her head so Xu Shijiu could pull it out.

Xu Shijiu gritted her teeth and mustered up the courage to yank her arm free in one swift motion. Just as she was about to shake it to get the blood flowing again, Lin Xinyi caught her hand and with just the right amount of pressure, began to massage it gently.
