You Are My Omega - Chapter 106 (FINALE)
A new life entered the world with the rising sun.
While she had often complained during pregnancy about how long the baby still had to stay inside, once the baby was born, Lin Xinyi felt that time had passed far too quickly.
It was a baby girl, and they named her Xu Muqiao.
“Does it still hurt?” Xu Shijiu asked softly, gazing with worry at the pale-faced Omega lying in the hospital bed. She still couldn’t shake the memory of how painful it had been to watch Lin Xinyi give birth the day before.
“Only a little.” Lin Xinyi smiled and reached out to fix Xu Shijiu’s messy bangs. “Don’t worry too much. The doctor said I’m doing fine. I just need to rest and recover.”
“My sister and your sister-in-law took Fantuan to see the baby. They sent me a photo. Here, take a look,” Xu Shijiu said, pulling up the photo and showing it to Lin Xinyi.
She knew Lin Xinyi was worried about the baby. Because the baby was born a bit early, she had to stay in the incubator for observation. Although the doctor had said it was only for routine checks, Lin Xinyi couldn’t rest easy without seeing her baby.
Lin Xinyi pulled Xu Shijiu’s hand closer, her eyes full of tenderness as she stared at the photo. Even though the shot was taken from a distance and only captured the baby’s back, she couldn’t take her eyes off it.
“How is she? Did the doctor say anything?” Lin Xinyi asked anxiously.
“The baby is doing great. The doctor said she’ll be out of the incubator soon. We just need to relax,” Xu Shijiu reassured her. “You need to focus on your own recovery. When the baby comes out, we’ll be the ones taking care of her.”
“Of course we will,” Lin Xinyi replied immediately.
She didn’t have a happy childhood, and she had long ago decided that she and Xu Shijiu would raise the baby themselves. She didn’t want to hand her daughter off to a nanny.
“You’ve been through so much. We’re not having any more kids,” Xu Shijiu said gently, brushing her pale cheek. Her eyes turned red as a wave of emotion surged in her chest.
“The doctor said our daughter might differentiate as an Omega…”
“That’s fine. We’re only having one. I don’t want you to go through the pain of pregnancy ever again.”
“Xu Shijiu…”
What Lin Xinyi didn’t know was that every time Xu Shijiu saw her in pain, she secretly wished she could take her place and carry the burden herself.
Ever since the baby was born, Xu Shijiu had stayed by Lin Xinyi’s side, only leaving briefly to speak with the doctors. She hadn’t even gone to see the baby in the incubator, instead relying on photos sent by Xu Manyue and Liu Lingyan.
One day, while Xu Shijiu was in the bathroom, Lin Xinyi looked at Xu Manyue with worry in her eyes.
“Do you think Xu Shijiu doesn’t like the baby?”
Even from the time she proposed, Lin Xinyi had quietly believed that Xu Shijiu was marrying her only because of the child. She had never dared ask, afraid that the answer would confirm her fears.
That belief had faded over time. After all, if Xu Shijiu only cared about the baby, why would she avoid visiting her? Why would she stay by Lin Xinyi’s side the entire time?
“What are you saying? How could you think that?” Xu Manyue said with a sigh.
“She hasn’t even gone to see the baby.”
“She loves that baby. She’s your daughter, and she shares your blood. There’s no way Xu Shijiu wouldn’t love her.”
“Still…”
“She just cares about you more. She loves you more.”
Xu Manyue remembered that after Liu Lingyan gave birth to Fantuan, she had asked the same thing.
Lin Xinyi’s heart finally settled. Once the baby was out of the incubator and Lin Xinyi returned home to rest, Xu Shijiu took on everything. She cared for both mother and child, doing her best to be in two places at once.
Lin Xinyi had tried to convince her to let the nanny help, both with the baby and with herself, but Xu Shijiu turned down every suggestion.
It wasn’t until Lin Xinyi’s postpartum recovery was complete that Xu Shijiu finally allowed herself more rest.
During that time, Xu Shijiu wouldn’t let Lin Xinyi do anything. Even though Lin Xinyi had learned about baby care, she barely got the chance to put it into practice. After her recovery, when the baby cried at night, she often turned to Liu Lingyan for help.
One night, in a half-asleep daze, Xu Manyue reached for the empty space beside her. Finding it cold, she sat up, opened the bedroom door, and walked out. Just as she suspected, she found the Omega in the living room on the second floor.
The baby’s loud cries snapped her fully awake.
“Still crying?”
“Her diaper’s dry. She won’t breastfeed, won’t take formula, and she’s not injured anywhere. I have no idea what’s wrong,” Liu Lingyan said with frustration, looking helplessly at the crying infant in Lin Xinyi’s arms.
Lin Xinyi’s heart ached hearing her daughter’s hoarse wailing. She had been pacing around the room, gently rocking her while whispering, “Don’t cry, don’t cry, be good, Qiaoqiao…”
The only response was louder cries.
“How long has she been crying?” Xu Manyue asked, clearly distressed.
“A long time. We’ve tried everything, and she still won’t stop.”
“Where’s Shijiu?”
“She’s sleeping. When I was recovering, she was either looking after the baby or taking care of me. She’s been so tired. I didn’t want to wake her. When the baby stirred, I took her out of the room.”
But despite their efforts, the baby wouldn’t calm down. Lin Xinyi finally couldn’t take it anymore and went to wake Xu Shijiu.
Xu Shijiu took the baby in her arms, but the crying didn’t stop. Just as Lin Xinyi was about to sigh, Xu Shijiu waved her over to the bed, then gently placed the baby next to her and guided the baby’s hand to grasp Lin Xinyi’s thumb.
Almost instantly, the baby quieted down.
“She just wants to sleep next to you,” Xu Shijiu said, her voice filled with tired resignation. “I meant to tell you, but I kept waiting for the right moment. Then I fell asleep.”
Lin Xinyi breathed a sigh of relief. She patted the exhausted Alpha gently and said in a low voice, “Go back to sleep. I’ve been resting well lately. Once she falls into a deep sleep, I’ll take her back to the crib.”
“Okay…”
Xu Shijiu wanted to say more, but her body gave in to exhaustion. She fell into a deep sleep within moments.
For the baby’s one-month celebration, Lin Xinyi and Xu Shijiu decided to host a large gathering.
On that day, Lin Xinyi and the official account of Xu Entertainment posted a photo of their marriage certificate. Before the public could even fully process the news, reporters attending the celebration leaked that the couple already had a child. The internet exploded with gossip and speculation.
“What are you doing?” Lin Xinyi looked around the venue but couldn’t find Xu Shijiu. When she went back inside, she found her in the living room, typing away on her laptop.
“I’m looking at your data,” Xu Shijiu said honestly. She patted the spot next to her on the sofa, and Lin Xinyi understood the signal and sat down casually.
“What’s there to look at?” she asked with a shrug.
“It’s about your career.”
“I’m already working behind the scenes. Losing a few fans won’t affect me.”
“I’m not talking about that,” Xu Shijiu replied. “Right now, the internet is filled with rumors saying you seduced me into bed, got pregnant before marriage, and forced me to marry you. They’re saying we broke off our engagement back then because I fell in love with someone else. And you, the great Lin Xinyi, left the country to mend a broken heart, then came back and used underhanded means to get pregnant.”
Lin Xinyi leaned in and took a closer look. Only then did she realize that the “data” Xu Shijiu had been referring to were actually online comment analytics. Looking through the comments, she saw that the top-ranked posts were filled with detailed and confident speculation, each one more dramatic than the last.
Xu Shijiu seemed to be reading these absurd theories with genuine interest. Lin Xinyi didn’t even know what to say.
“I asked you to check if the baby had woken up, and instead you’re sitting here reading this nonsense,” she said in mock seriousness, tapping Xu Shijiu on the forehead.
“The baby’s sleeping soundly,” Xu Shijiu replied with a grin. Lin Xinyi hadn’t even tapped her that hard. “She’s sleeping so deeply now that she’ll probably be wide awake tonight.”
“I used to think Fantuan was already difficult to care for, but it turns out our daughter is even more of a handful.”
“Tell me about it,” Xu Shijiu agreed with a tired but genuine smile.
Outside, the sound of clinking glasses and cheerful conversation filtered in from the gathering, but inside the quiet living room, the two of them remained on the sofa, leaning against each other with no intention of moving.
“Do you really not regret it?” Xu Shijiu asked suddenly.
“Regret what?”
“Regret going public now and affecting your career? Regret turning down all those great scripts? Regret staying home to care for our daughter? Regret—”
There were more things Xu Shijiu wanted to list, but Lin Xinyi interrupted her.
“I don’t regret it.”
Just three words, spoken firmly.
“The baby is still small. Even if I wanted to work now, I wouldn’t be able to focus. But in the future, if I take on a script and want to go back to acting, will you stop me or disapprove?”
“…No.”
“Then that settles it.”
Lin Xinyi had full confidence in Xu Shijiu. If she ever chose to return to work, Xu Shijiu would absolutely support her and take good care of their daughter.
It made sense, yet Xu Shijiu still felt a knot in her heart.
She knew how much Lin Xinyi loved acting. She should have been shining on international stages, not hidden away in the Xu family household because of motherhood.
“You always say I overthink things, but aren’t you the same?”
Lin Xinyi looked at her with a teasing smile.
“As long as you don’t regret it…” Xu Shijiu said softly.
“Silly girl. In my heart, you, our daughter, and this family are what matter most.”
Lin Xinyi rested her forehead gently against Xu Shijiu’s. Their eyes met, and in that quiet gaze, Lin Xinyi’s soft but serious voice settled all of Xu Shijiu’s lingering doubts.
“Mrs. Xu…”
“Yes?”
“I love you so much.”
“And I love you too.”
Thank you for coming into my world.
Thank you for saving it.
