Wife, Are You an Alpha Pretending to be an Omega? - Chapter 13
As soon as Fang Jinran stepped out, he immediately contacted everyone to delete all the chat logs in the “Information Group.”
Although the boss wasn’t the type to poke his nose into other people’s business, Fang Jinran couldn’t guarantee that a mole wouldn’t pop up among their own people.
Inside the office, Xie Jingyu was already drinking the pork rib soup Wei Xia had brought.
The soup was simmered with red dates and corn, made from premium pork ribs that Wei Xia and Auntie Li had bought at the fresh market early that morning. Ever since Wei Xia and Xie Jingyu got married, Wei Xia had told Auntie Li that she only needed to come over for two hours every day to help with grocery shopping. Other than that, her salary remained unchanged. Auntie Li was more than happy with the relaxed arrangement. Xie Jingyu did not object either; he was just a bit worried that Wei Xia might overexert himself.
Wei Xia was only responsible for Xie Jingyu’s three daily meals, so it could hardly be called tiring. Mostly, he was just happy.
For instance, when he heard Jingyu cough twice this morning, he immediately stewed the soup and brought it over to the company.
He had asked about this before, and Xie Jingyu had replied, “Of course. Whenever you want to come, you can come anytime.”
Today was Wei Xia’s first time visiting the Xie Corporation. However, because of the continuous storms on the internet recently, everyone from the top management to the lower staff recognized the boss’s spouse. So, even though no one said it out loud, they immediately sent a message to the information group. Less than three minutes after Wei Xia stepped through the front gates of the Xie Corporation, the entire company knew he had arrived.
Naturally, Feng Cong found out too.
The young master of the Feng family was extremely idle. On regular days, aside from eating, drinking, and having fun, he spent his time gathering teams to stir up trouble.
Recently, he had discovered a new target, and that was to mess with Xie Jingyu.
Speaking of why Feng Cong was going to such lengths to target Xie Jingyu, aside from his dislike of Xie Jingyu’s personality, there was another reason. His younger maternal cousin had once made a huge scene, insisting on marrying Xie Jingyu. Predictably, she had been rejected by him.
Feng Cong doted on this younger cousin the most. Seeing that the man his cousin had shamelessly pursued actually dared to reject her, he instantly felt a deep loathing for Xie Jingyu.
They were both business marriages, yet Xie Jingyu refused to marry someone from the Feng family and instead married a man from the insignificant Wei family, and a bastard son at that. What did that mean?
Wasn’t this a blatant statement that Xie Jingyu looked down on the Feng family?
More than half a month had passed since their last encounter, and the hype on the internet was just about ripe. Feng Cong harbored malicious intent in his heart, and was just fretting over the lack of an opportunity to provoke trouble.
Then, just as he was getting drowsy, someone handed him a pillow.
After Xie Jingyu finished the soup, it happened to be lunchtime. He specially brought Wei Xia down to the company cafeteria to eat. Along the way, quite a few people saw the two of them. Xie Jingyu’s expression was as stern and serious as always, but his actions and gestures were full of care and protection toward Wei Xia, as if he wanted to break those false rumors through actual actions.
After lunch.
Wei Xia went home, saying he had things to keep him busy.
Xie Jingyu had originally intended to keep Wei Xia there to accompany him, but upon hearing that Wei Xia wanted to go home on his own initiative, he figured home would be more relaxing, which was fine too. So, he had his driver take Wei Xia back.
Wei Xia was acting mysterious because he had a surprise to prepare.
Today was Xie Jingyu’s birthday.
Even the afternoon food delivery was only because Wei Xia was decorating the room at home; he was worried Xie Jingyu might return early, as Jingyu occasionally went home for lunch before.
Returning home, Wei Xia looked at the half-decorated room. His heart was filled with joy and excitement, and he started decorating without a moment’s pause.
The bouquet and the cake had already been delivered. The fresh jasmine bouquet still had water droplets on it, and Wei Xia carefully placed it right in the center of the living room.
He was highly anticipating what kind of expression Jingyu would have when he saw a scene like this.
But things went against his wishes.
Feng Cong asked, “Are you sure he can come?”
The voice on the other end was wretched and full of flattery; it was Xie Ci.
“I heard from my dad that Xie Jingyu seems very interested in Huahai Holdings recently. So I guess he will definitely want to take the opportunity to get to know them. Brother Feng, if you put the news out there, he should go.”
Feng Cong frowned. “Isn’t it a bit too late to put out the news now? Besides, will he believe it?”
Xie Ci had no reply. How on earth would he know whether Xie Jingyu would believe it or not?
Suddenly, Feng Cong thought of someone. “Forget it, forget it. It’s useless talking to you.”
He hung up the phone and immediately dialed another number.
Before leaving work, Xie Jingyu met an unexpected person.
Shan Yun, a university senior from his early years and a former business partner, had later chosen to go abroad for personal development. Xie Jingyu had not seen him for a very long time.
“Senior Shan?” Xie Jingyu was somewhat surprised.
Shan Yun stepped forward and extended his hand right away. “Long time no see, Jingyu.”
Xie Jingyu reached out in response, though he was still a little dazed.
After a few brief words, Xie Jingyu finally figured out Shan Yun’s experiences over the past few years.
Xie Jingyu did not have many friends during his university days. If he strictly had to count some, the members of his National Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program team would be considered as such, and Shan Yun was one of them.
Shan Yun came from an ordinary family background, but he had an excellent brain. When Xie Jingyu joined the entrepreneurial innovation team during his freshman year, Shan Yun was the group leader. Although the two did not have very deep contact, Xie Jingyu had always admired him quite a bit. Later, he even heard that Shan Yun was accepted directly into a top global business school after graduation.
A talent like this was hard to come by. The moment Xie Jingyu saw him, he had a slight urge to headhunt him.
But Shan Yun said he was currently at Huahai Group.
Shan Yun raised an eyebrow. “Why don’t you join me at the charity gala tonight?”
Xie Jingyu was startled. He had indeed heard that the CEO of Huahai would be attending tonight, but the news had come too late, so he had not believed it much. Furthermore, the high-level executives of Huahai were not that easy to get in touch with anyway; there was no need for him to lower his status and eagerly rush over just to corner someone.
But it was different with an introduction from Shan Yun.
Xie Jingyu pondered for a few moments and realized that it was necessary to make a trip there.
However, it was already off-work hours now.
Noticing Xie Jingyu’s hesitation, Shan Yun smiled and asked, “What’s wrong? Do you have plans?”
Xie Jingyu shook his head. It wasn’t exactly a plan, it was just that telling Wei Xia at this hour was a bit late.
Shan Yun said, “If you don’t have plans, then come with me.”
Xie Jingyu hesitated for a moment. In the end, he opened his phone and sent a message to Wei Xia.
【Xiao Xia, I have a gala to attend on short notice. If you want to come, I’ll have the driver pick you up. Location 📍】
Having just finished decorating the room, the notification sound of his phone rang out. Wei Xia’s hand, which was raised to wipe his sweat, paused.
【Okay, I won’t go. Jingyu, come back early.】
After sending the message, Wei Xia placed the prepared ingredients that were about to be stir-fried into the refrigerator one by one.
Only after seeing the reply did Xie Jingyu head out with Shan Yun with peace of mind.
Tonight’s gala was merely a charity event held for appearance’s sake, and Xie Jingyu rarely participated in such events. Therefore, his appearance drew quite a few people over to strike up conversations. Shan Yun was indeed a member of Huahai Group, but he had another identity; he was an overseas student who had once been sponsored by the Feng family.
Shan Yun brought Xie Jingyu to meet the general manager of Huahai’s current branch office. The conversation between both sides was very pleasant, but since it was just a first meeting, there was no need to dive into details. Xie Jingyu understood this logic well, so after merely exchanging contact information, they naturally drifted apart.
Shan Yun went off to busy himself with other matters as well.
After dealing with several waves of people, Xie Jingyu felt it was rather dull and prepared to head home.
Just as he was walking toward the door, a waiter bumped right into his chest.
The boy looked very young, short in stature, and had good looks; he was a delicate and beautiful Omega. The wine he was carrying poured entirely onto Xie Jingyu, precisely staining the fabric across his entire chest.
Before Xie Jingyu could say anything, the waiter actually sat on the floor and began to cry. Tears welled up in his eyes, threatening to fall but staying back, looking extremely pitiful.
“President Xie, I’m sorry, I really didn’t do it on purpose.”
The head waiter nearby hurried over and scolded, “How do you do your job? Hurry up and get up to take President Xie to change clothes!”
Xie Jingyu frowned and waved his hand. “No need.”
There was no need to change clothes. It would cause unnecessary misunderstandings.
He was just about to lift his foot to leave, but the waiter, who had looked fragile and pitiful a moment ago, tightly grabbed the hem of his clothes. “President Xie, I’m sorry, please come with me to change into a set of clothes. It’s all my fault for being clumsy. If you leave like this, I will be fined money, boohoo.”
Xie Jingyu was rather baffled by the situation. Shouldn’t the waiter be fined money? The fact that he wasn’t holding the boy accountable was already generous enough, so why was he being morally hijacked now?
“Let go.” Xie Jingyu’s expression was always heavy. At this moment, he did not want to get tangled up too much; he just wanted to leave as soon as possible.
Yet, the waiter was like an adhesive plaster, refusing to let go under any circumstances.
Xie Jingyu was completely lose for words.
“Your clothes are completely soaked through. You’ll catch a cold if you go out like this.”
Xie Jingyu looked down. The night was cold and chilly, and the fabric on his chest was already completely drenched, with water still dripping down drop by drop.
He knitted his brows in displeasure.
Right at this moment, Shan Yun happened to appear.
“Jingyu, go change into another set before leaving. I happen to have a suit of clothes in my car, I’ll go get it for you.”
