Why Does First Love Feel This Sweet? - Chapter 25
Chapter 25
The “demon tutoring” session lasted until the early hours of the morning, leaving Sheng Yi feeling truly “drained.” By the time he crawled back to the bedroom, his desire to tease “Teacher Xiao Yu” had been replaced by a state of pure Zen; he fell into a deep, unconscious sleep the second he hit the mattress.
Rong Yu warmed a glass of milk, and seeing Sheng Yi sprawled horizontally across the bed, he let out a soft, silent laugh.
The next morning, Sheng Yi failed to wake up for Tai Chi with Grandpa. When he finally opened his eyes, the spot beside him was empty—Rong Yu was already at the hospital.
That morning, after practicing painting with Grandpa, Yang Yue—dressed to the nines—arrived excitedly to take him to Ling Ye’s house to see the puppies. Sheng Yi decided to keep the adoption a secret for now, planning to bring the puppy home as a surprise for Rong Yu, who he knew loved dogs deeply.
However, he still filed a “report” to prevent Rong Yu from worrying, sending a half-truth: [Going out this morning. Ling Ye wants to meet Master Tu, so I’m taking him there.]
…
The “Jealous Jar” at the Hospital
At the hospital, Rong Yu received the message and slipped his phone back into his white coat. His mind wandered until a nurse called out, “Dr. Rong?”
Rong Yu snapped back to reality. “Sorry, what did you say?”
The nurse smiled knowingly. “Were you just thinking about the one at home?”
Rong Yu was stunned. He rarely showed personal emotions at work. “Why do you say that?”
“It’s obvious,” the nurse laughed. “When people think about someone they love, their expression changes.”
His expression? Rong Yu went quiet. After a moment, he asked a rare personal question: “If your boyfriend made a new friend, would you feel nervous?”
The nurse was shocked—was the hospital’s “God” actually asking for relationship advice? “Not really,” she replied. “As long as he loves me, why does it matter how many friends he has?”
“What if… he doesn’t love you?” Rong Yu asked calmly.
The nurse shrugged. “Then why would he be with me?”
Rong Yu looked down at his charts. “Perhaps… to fulfill your wishes.”
“Dr. Rong,” the nurse said seriously, “I think if someone is willing to make such a ‘sacrifice’ for me, then they are the ones who love me without even realizing it.”
Rong Yu froze, then nodded slightly, reverting to his cold, professional mode. But the words lingered in his mind.
…
The War God and the Surprise
Sheng Yi and Yang Yue met Ling Ye at his traditional courtyard house. Inside, a retired guide dog—a golden Labrador—was being climbed on by seven tiny, golden puppies.
“I’ll take any of them except that one,” Ling Ye said, pointing to a “rebel” puppy in a red collar currently in “time-out.”
“Why?” Sheng Yi asked.
“Unstable personality. Hard to train,” Ling Ye replied.
Sheng Yi picked up the little scrapper. The puppy immediately bit his finger like a teething toy, making “fierce” growling noises.
“I’ll take this one,” Sheng Yi said, locking eyes with the stubborn little thing. “I like personality.” He named the puppy Ares (the God of War), with the nickname Rui Rui.
For the next week, Sheng Yi spent every day with Ling Ye and Master Tu. Each day, Rong Yu received a notification that Sheng Yi was out with Ling Ye.
On Friday, Rong Yu left work early to pick Sheng Yi up. From the car, he saw Sheng Yi playfully clap Ling Ye on the shoulder. Throughout the drive home, Rong Yu was silent.
That night, Rong Yu claimed he had to work on a paper and told Sheng Yi to sleep first. They hadn’t had any “couple time” all week.
At 2:00 AM, Rong Yu finally entered the bedroom. Just as he lay down, the “sleeping” Sheng Yi suddenly flipped over and sat on his waist.
“Hubby,” Sheng Yi whispered mischievously. “Want to have a ‘baby’?”
Rong Yu didn’t hesitate. The jealousy he had suppressed all week burst forth. He flipped Sheng Yi over, his eyes burning. He pinned Sheng Yi’s hands and bit the back of his neck, whispering a low, uncharacteristically rough command.
By the time they finished, Sheng Yi was a puddle of exhaustion. After cleaning up, Rong Yu held him tightly. “Still want to ‘have a baby’?”
Sheng Yi scrambled out of bed and “fled” into the sunroom.
“Hang Hang?” Rong Yu called out, worried.
Then, Sheng Yi walked back out, cradling a large “bulge” inside his pajama shirt. Under the bright moonlight, he laughed. “You jealous jar. Have you been secretly sulking all week?”
Rong Yu kept a straight face. “Don’t overthink it.”
“Stop being jealous,” Sheng Yi patted the bulge. “Wife is giving you a son.” He lifted the hem of his pajamas.
A tiny, golden-yellow puppy was revealed, nibbling on Sheng Yi’s fingers.
“Rong Yu, congratulations on your son. Ares, say hi to Daddy.”
Rong Yu stared at the puppy, his gaze turning peaceful.
“Do you like him?” Sheng Yi asked softly.
Rong Yu reached out, pulled Sheng Yi down by the back of his head, and kissed him with unprecedented tenderness.
“I like him,” Rong Yu whispered against his lips. “I like him so much.”
