Why Did the Top Alpha Suddenly Stop Acting Out? - Chapter 19.2
As she spoke, she patted her chest as a guarantee. “Go ahead and say it boldly; I’ll handle the aftermath!”
Wen Yue thought for a moment and nodded.
During gym class, the gym teacher organized the students into formations and led them through a few warm-up exercises before announcing they could disperse for free activities.
The classmates scattered, some heading to the snack shop, others pairing up to play basketball, and Qin Le was among those playing basketball.
The six girls who had just played the king game gathered together, watching as Qin Le dribbled the ball toward the basketball court.
“Yueyue, when do you plan to complete the dare?” asked a girl with a student haircut.
“Hehe, I can’t wait to see that scene.”
“It has to be done sooner or later, so why not get it over with? I’ll go get the megaphone for you.” The girl with the student haircut said, then ran to the bleachers to grab the megaphone and handed it to Wen Yue.
“Yueyue, go for it.” The girl with the high ponytail patted her shoulder, cheering her on.
Wen Yue clenched her fist, holding the megaphone as she walked to the center of the gym. She glanced back at the girl with the high ponytail, who made a gesture of encouragement, and the girls beside her also cheered her on.
Wen Yue took a deep breath a few times, slowly raised the megaphone, and with a steady voice that trembled slightly, called out, “Qin Le.”
Her sweet voice echoed through the megaphone, resonating throughout the gym, drawing the curious gazes of students still inside.
On the basketball court, Qin Le, known for her accuracy, threw the ball upon hearing her name, but it narrowly missed the hoop. The other students playing basketball also paused, turning to look at the girl in the center of the gym.
If Wen Yue had seen this scene, she would have dropped the megaphone and fled, but after calling Qin Le’s name, she closed her eyes, so she didn’t realize she had become the center of attention. Perhaps she knew but thought that if she didn’t see it, she wouldn’t lose that remaining shred of courage.
“Qin Le, I like you. I hope you can pay more attention to me in the future, okay?”
At that moment, the students who had been whispering fell silent, staring in shock at the girl in the center of the gym. Some students reacted quickly, looking at how Qin Le would respond on the basketball court, and they saw Qin Le quickly making her way through the crowd toward the center of the gym.
One second passed, then two… more and more students began to react, erupting into cheers, some even whistling.
Wen Yue didn’t dare to open her eyes after speaking; she stood frozen in place. Hearing the uproar, her cheeks flushed instantly, and she prepared to drop the megaphone and run. However, just as she turned, someone grabbed her wrist.
“Are you planning to confess and then run away without hearing my answer?” Qin Le held her wrist with one hand and took the megaphone from her, raising it to her mouth to respond to the earlier question. “Sure, I’m looking at you right now.”
Seeing this scene, the cheers grew louder, and the whistling came in waves.
Noticing that the person in front of her still had her eyes tightly shut, Qin Le leaned in closer to her ear, speaking slowly, “I’m looking at you. Aren’t you going to open your eyes and see me?”
Wen Yue gripped her sleeve tightly, but at Qin Le’s words, she slowly opened her eyes, meeting Qin Le’s gaze. She saw Qin Le’s lips moving softly, saying, “These eyes are even more beautiful up close.”
At the edge of the venue, the assistant director flipped through the script and leaned closer to Zhang, whispering, “Director, I don’t see a part in the script for whispering like this?”
Zhang raised a finger to his lips. “Whether it’s in the script or not, feelings come suddenly. Look how well this improvisation is going; I love actors like this.”
In the scene, Wen Yue’s face turned red, yet she didn’t pull away, only murmuring, “It’s too close…”
The girl with the high ponytail, seeing this, hurried over to pull Wen Yue away, taking the megaphone from Qin Le’s hand and explaining to everyone, “Thank you to Qin Le for her response, but the reason Yueyue said that is that she lost in our game, so this is just a dare challenge, right, everyone?”
She looked at the girls who had played the game with them.
The girls, realizing she was talking to them, responded in unison, “That’s right! Yueyue always plays fair when it comes to games.”
“Alright, alright.” The girl with the high ponytail shouted into the megaphone, “Let’s disperse, let’s disperse! The game is over.”
【“Unrequited Love Without Light” Scene Twenty-Three, One Take, Action】
Wen Yue emerged from the cafeteria with two packed meals, passing through the playground back to the dormitory building. Just as she was about to step inside, someone suddenly grabbed her wrist.
Startled, she dropped the meal box, but the culprit quickly caught it.
Qin Le waved her meal box in front of her, a slight smile on her lips. “You need to come with me.”
Wen Yue pulled back, taking two steps away. She glanced around; many students were either eating in the cafeteria or getting ready for evening study sessions in the dorms. There weren’t many people around, and a few were hurrying by without noticing her. She nervously asked, “Where are we going?”
Qin Le looked back at Wen Yue holding her hand, smirking as she released her grip, taking her hands into her own. “Be good and don’t struggle; it won’t hurt. I just want to ask you a few things.”
Wen Yue stood her ground, her voice trembling. “What… do you want to ask?”
Qin Le glanced at her, slowly pulling out her phone from her pocket, then opened a megaphone app, waving it in front of Wen Yue. “Do you really want me to ask here?”
Wen Yue’s brows knitted tightly, her doe-like eyes starting to redden, tears welling up in her eyes as her voice choked. “You’re not going to hit me, are you? If you’re still mad about the game this afternoon, I can apologize…”
“Who told you I was angry?” Qin Le looked at Wen Yue’s pitiful expression, sighed, and spoke gently. “I promise I won’t hurt you. I just want to confirm something with you. Is that okay?”
Wen Yue looked up at her, confirming, “Really?”
Qin Le nodded, releasing her hands and instead holding her palm, leading her to the back of the dormitory building.
They arrived at a secluded corner behind the dormitory, shielded from the campus walkway by a large tree. There were no students around to cause a scene, only the gentle rustling of leaves in the evening breeze and the soft glow of the setting sun.
Wen Yue leaned against the wall, nervously looking up at Qin Le, who had her hands braced against the wall on either side of her, trapping her in her embrace. Qin Le bit her lip and slowly began, “This afternoon in the gym, when you said you liked me, was it really just because of the game?”
Wen Yue’s hands, which hung at her sides, tightly gripped her clothing, her lips pressed together. After a moment of silence, she slowly nodded.
Qin Le’s hands, which had been braced against the wall, formed fists and gradually fell, while her head also lowered, eventually resting on Wen Yue’s shoulder, her voice filled with grievance. “But what I said this afternoon was serious.”
A gust of evening wind blew, causing a few leaves to flutter down around them.
The wind lifted Wen Yue’s hair, her doe-like eyes widening in shock.
“Were you really not serious this afternoon? Then why do you always look my way?”
The gentle inquiry from Qin Le, carried by the evening breeze, brushed against Wen Yue’s ears. She loosened her grip on her clothing, but quickly tightened it again, going back and forth a few times. Finally, she let her hands fall to her sides, not denying that she had been stealing glances at Qin Le, and asked, “How did you know… I was looking at you?”
Qin Le paused for a moment, then suddenly looked up at Wen Yue, uncertain. “So you’re admitting that you like me too?”
Wen Yue lowered her head, her hands behind her back, not answering her question. “You answer me first.”
Qin Le couldn’t resist patting her head, saying affectionately, “Silly, if you’d just held your gaze one second longer, you’d have noticed I’ve always been returning your glances.”
She then bent slightly to meet the other’s evasive eyes directly, smiling, “Now that you know why, can you answer my question?”
Wen Yue glanced up briefly before lowering her gaze again, her voice so soft it might vanish in the wind, “I like you.”
Qin Le looked at her, a radiant smile playing on her lips. Pretending not to hear, she tilted her head closer, “What was that? Say it again?”
A faint smile appeared on Wen Yue’s lips as she leaned in to whisper, “I said, I’m leaving.”
She tried to slip away but was swiftly pulled back by Qin Le’s arm around her waist, locking her in an embrace. Qin Le laughed, “Since we’re on the same page, should we make it official now?”
“What do you mean?” Wen Yue didn’t hide her surprise, confused by the question—weren’t they already together?
“I mean, I don’t want to rush you. If you want to focus on your studies first, I’ll wait until after graduation—”
“No.” Wen Yue interrupted firmly, blushing but resolute. “I can handle both studies and love.”
Her response left Qin Le momentarily stunned before she affectionately ruffled Wen Yue’s hair, “Wow, whose amazing girlfriend is this?”
Wen Yue took her hand, stood on tiptoe to plant a quick kiss on her cheek, then whispered in her ear, “Yours.”
Behind the monitor, Assistant Director Che flipped through the script, puzzled, “Director, there’s no cheek kiss or whispering in this scene?”
Director Zhang watched Ye Shuyi’s performance with admiration, “What do you know? Agent Ye’s improvisation shows real talent.”
“Cut!”
Director Zhang stood up, announcing through his megaphone, “Take five, everyone. Prep for Yi Qian’s final scene today. Let’s wrap this up strong!”
The crew cheered at the prospect of finishing soon.
Approaching Ye Shuyi, Director Zhang praised, “Brilliant performance. Honestly… it felt like you really were Yi Qian’s first love.”
“Tsk tsk, Agent Ye, you’ve got serious acting chops. If you ever want to switch careers, call me first—I’ll have a leading role tailor-made for you.”
“Thank you for the kind words, Director. I’ll keep that in mind,” Ye Shuyi smiled.
