Why Did the Top Alpha Suddenly Stop Acting Out? - Chapter 19.1
Ye Shuyi walked toward them in a pure white suit, her eyes slightly downcast as she gazed at the ground, exuding an aura that made others feel distant and cold.
Director Zhang nodded repeatedly at Ye Shuyi, his eyes filled with admiration and approval, but soon he furrowed his brow. “But how do you plan to get her to agree?”
Jiang Shiluo looked at Ye Shuyi and smirked, saying, “Just tell her the truth.”
Zhang pondered, stroking his chin. “What are the odds?”
Jiang Shiluo patted Zhang’s shoulder, her dimples appearing. “Based on my observations, at least ninety percent. Just go for it.”
Zhang’s fingers clicked together excitedly, eager to try. “Then I’ll do it myself to show my sincerity.”
As Ye Shuyi put away her phone, Zhang immediately approached her, flashing a standard eight-tooth smile, and got straight to the point. “Um… Ye Jingji, can I ask you to be an actress?”
Without giving Ye Shuyi a chance to respond, Zhang continued, “I’ve looked for many actresses for this role, but they all flaked on me. There’s a scene we need to shoot today, but the actress I had scheduled suddenly said she couldn’t make it. It feels like they’re all playing games with me. But when I saw you, I thought, maybe heaven is still favoring me.”
“Honestly, the first time I saw you, I thought you were perfect for the role of Yi Qian’s white moonlight. I felt she could only be you, but since you’re not an actress, just Yi Qian’s manager, I didn’t dare approach you. However, this is an emergency, and I promise the role isn’t big, and the lines aren’t many no more than ten scenes. So, could you help me out?”
Zhang fired off his pitch in rapid succession, not allowing Ye Shuyi to interject. Once he finished, Ye Shuyi replied, “Director Zhang, which role are you talking about?”
“The white moonlight for Yi Qian,” Zhang repeated clearly, his anticipation evident as he clasped his hands together. “Ye Jingji, please, please?”
Ye Shuyi glanced at Yi Qian not far away and nodded. “Okay.”
Zhang, overwhelmed with excitement, hugged her like a child receiving candy, joyfully shaking her a couple of times before leaning in to kiss her cheek. However, halfway there, a hand reached out to block him.
“Director Zhang, I heard the actress for the next scene can’t make it. Can we wrap up early today?” Yi Qian raised her hand to block Zhang’s restless mouth, speaking rapidly, her expression quite intriguing.
Upon hearing her voice, Zhang opened his eyes to the scene before him, swatted Yi Qian’s hand away, and quickly wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, looking disdainful. “Who said there’s no actress?” He said, placing a hand on Ye Shuyi’s shoulder proudly. “Far away in the sky, but close at hand, this is your first love, your white moonlight.”
Yi Qian looked at Ye Shuyi in disbelief, then turned to Zhang, her expression one of shock.
“What’s wrong?” Zhang asked, puzzled. “Did I say something wrong? Shuyi just agreed to play your first love, your white moonlight.”
So that was what it meant.
Yi Qian sighed in relief internally; she thought Ye Shuyi had said something to Zhang.
Jiang Shiluo walked over, smiling slightly. “Or is it that Teacher Yi isn’t satisfied with this new actress? I could also…”
Before she could finish, Yi Qian grabbed Jiang Shiluo’s shoulder and pushed her away, muttering, “Sister Shishi, why are you still here? Didn’t your scenes wrap up long ago?”
Her tone was somewhat gritted.
Watching the two leave, Zhang looked at Ye Shuyi with a puzzled expression. “So, what’s going on? Ye Jingji, what are you laughing about?”
Why did it seem like she was the only one out of the loop?
Ye Shuyi shook her head and changed the subject. “Aren’t we supposed to be filming the next scene? I haven’t seen the script yet.”
“Oh, right, right.” Zhang was immediately distracted, leading Ye Shuyi toward the monitor.
Zhang handed Ye Shuyi a copy of the script, explaining the lines for this scene. “How long do you think it will take to memorize these lines? It’s okay to take your time; after all, you’re a newcomer. We can wait a bit.”
“About two minutes,” Ye Shuyi replied flatly.
Zhang’s eyes widened in shock. “You really only need… two minutes?”
Ye Shuyi nodded. She had already read through the lines once and memorized them all, but she felt she needed two minutes to immerse herself in the character’s emotions, and she was a little nervous.
Zhang’s eyes sparkled as if he had found treasure. “Then I’ll give you five minutes. Take the last three minutes to really feel the character. Go for it!” After saying this, he made a gesture of encouragement toward Ye Shuyi, then picked up a megaphone and shouted, “All departments, get ready! We’ll shoot the next scene in five minutes.”
Ye Shuyi found a quieter spot to sit down. She flipped to the pages of the script that the main character had already performed, recalling how the character acted, hoping to find some inspiration for her own performance.
“Here.” Hearing a voice, Ye Shuyi looked up to see Jiang Shiluo holding two cups of milk tea, one of which she handed to her, her dimples deepening. “Yi Qian specifically told me you can’t drink anything cold.”
Ye Shuyi glanced over at Yi Qian, who was completely unaware of her surroundings, engrossed in chatting with someone on her phone.
She accepted the drink. “Thank you.”
Jiang Shiluo sat down beside her, took a sip of her milk tea, and asked with concern, “How are you feeling? Nervous?”
Ye Shuyi took a sip of her milk tea, then set it aside, her tone flat. “Not really.”
“Actually, I think you don’t need to be too nervous.” Jiang Shiluo gazed into the distance as if reminiscing, her voice soft. “You can just play yourself. You’re mainly portraying the youthful part of high school life. Just imagine how you would react to the events in the story during your own youth, and embody that.”
After saying this, she patted Ye Shuyi’s shoulder, stood up, and said, “Go for it! I’m really looking forward to it.”
About three minutes later, a crew member ran up to Ye Shuyi. “Ye Jingji, I’ll take you to change your clothes.”
Once Ye Shuyi changed and stepped out, she instantly attracted the attention of everyone on set. Her eyes sparkled like a fawn’s, her lips were like cherries, her face was small and rosy without any makeup, and her hair was styled in a cute, playful bun. Coupled with the youthful blue-and-white school uniform, they couldn’t help but think to themselves: how many people’s youth does this represent?
Zhang exclaimed, “Wow, this is pretty much what my high school crush looked like. This is the white moonlight, a pure and beautiful existence like moonlight.”
“Oh?” Jiang Shiluo, sitting nearby with her arms crossed, teased, “Looks like Director Zhang has quite a story to tell. Why not share it with us?”
Zhang turned his head sharply, nearly falling off his chair, his mind still reeling. “Why are you still here?”
“I’m just hanging out,” Jiang Shiluo shrugged.
Zhang glanced around, looking as if he understood everything. “Oh… looks like your partner hasn’t come to pick you up yet…”
“Who said that?” Before Zhang could finish, Tang Chi emerged from behind Jiang Shiluo, placing a hand on her shoulder and smiling. “I always arrive early to pick up my wife, never late.”
Jiang Shiluo unabashedly kissed Tang Chi’s cheek, her voice gentle. “You’re the best.”
Zhang shot them a disdainful look, thinking she couldn’t afford to provoke them, and stood up to leave, grabbing the megaphone to call out, “All departments, get ready! We’re about to start filming.”
【“Unrequited Love Without Light” Scene Twenty, One Take, Action】
In the back row of the classroom, six girls gathered around a desk, each with different expressions as they picked up a card from the tabletop.
The girl with a high ponytail saw the card and immediately burst into laughter, slapping it down on the table, excitedly exclaiming, “I’m the king! Hehe, it’s finally my turn!”
The other girls nearby looked disappointed, hiding their cards, their gazes fixed on the girl with the high ponytail, waiting to see what card she would choose.
“Two.” The girl with the high ponytail looked around. “Who’s number two?”
“It’s me.” Ye Shuyi, playing Wen Yue, slowly raised her hand.
“Oh… it’s you, Yueyue.” The girl with the high ponytail smiled meaningfully. “What’s it this time? Is it truth or dare?”
The surrounding girls chimed in unison, “Dare! It’s time for a dare!”
“In that case,” the girl with the high ponytail thought for a moment and smiled, “I have an idea. During gym class later, Yueyue, you have to take the gym teacher’s megaphone and confess to the class flower, Qin Le, in front of everyone. Just say… ‘Qin Le, I like you. I hope you can pay more attention to me in the future, okay?’”
“After you say it, if Qin Le responds, I’ll tell everyone it was a dare, but if she doesn’t, I won’t clarify.”
“Wow, that sounds exciting.”
“Just hearing it is thrilling.”
“A big move we’re all looking forward to.”
“Go for it, Yueyue!”
The surrounding girls cheered enthusiastically.
The girl with the high ponytail glanced at her watch. “Let’s go, everyone! Gym class is about to start.”
On the way to the gym, the girls walked in groups, while Wen Yue lagged behind, tightly gripping the sleeve of her school uniform, appearing quite anxious.
The girl with the high ponytail turned back to look at her, walking backward to her side, gently patting her back to reassure her. “Don’t worry, whether Qin Le responds or not, I’ll clarify. If I hadn’t said that earlier, those girls would definitely have been unhappy, so don’t stress.”
“But…” Wen Yue hesitated. “Why do you want me to… complete such a big dare?”
The girl with the high ponytail tilted her head and looked at her for a moment. “Yueyue, why do you think? I’m your best friend.”
Wen Yue hesitated for a moment, staring blankly at the girl with the high ponytail. “A dare, Qin Le, what does that have to do with you being my best friend?”
“Of course it matters.” The girl with the high ponytail wrapped her arm around Wen Yue’s shoulder, walking to her other side with certainty. “Because I’m your good friend, I know you like Qin Le.”
The girl with the high ponytail stopped in front of her, placing her hands on Wen Yue’s shoulders, and said earnestly, “Yueyue, you like Qin Le, right?”
Wen Yue looked up in shock, her doe-like eyes filled with panic, as if she were contemplating how she had given herself away, wondering how the other person could see through her.
The girl with the high ponytail pinched her cute cheek, comforting her. “Hey, don’t panic. Actually, you hide it well, but I’m your best friend. From kindergarten to now, almost ten years. If I can’t tell when you like someone, how can I call myself your best friend?”
“I know you well. With your personality, even if the world were ending, you wouldn’t take the initiative to say anything. So, as your good friend, I think it’s necessary to help… no, I should say, push you a little.” The girl with the high ponytail looked into her eyes sincerely. “You don’t want to leave regrets in your youth, do you? Just treat it as a real dare to complete.”
