- Which Fierce Alpha Disguises as a Beta to Abduct a Wife?
- Chapter 52 - With a Gentle Breath, Jiang Huaiyan’s Soul Drifts Away
“Go ahead,” Jiang Huaiyan said helplessly, reaching out to ruffle the other’s hair, his eyes brimming with indulgence.
Ignoring the doctor’s presence, Zhou Yunqiu hugged Jiang Huaiyan directly. “Talk to Duan Mingxu and tell him to stop harassing my brother. My brother is such a powerful Alpha; what’s with Duan Mingxu chasing him every single day?”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…”
Zhou Yunqiu clung to him, intentionally rubbing against him. “He and my brother are both Alphas. There will be no good ending for two Alphas together. Think about my brother’s combat skills; in the end, Duan Mingxu will be the one getting beaten. Don’t you agree?”
Jiang Huaiyan gripped his waist dangerously. “Speak properly and stop moving.” There was still a doctor right there.
Zhou Yunqiu didn’t listen; instead, he rubbed even higher. “Do you have the heart to watch your friend be pinned to the floor and thrashed by my brother, Jiang Huaiyan? Just help me talk to him. Maybe he’ll listen to you.”
Jiang Huaiyan drew in a sharp breath as a wave of tightness hit his lower abdomen. He swallowed with difficulty and replied in a low voice, “I’ve advised him already, but he won’t listen.”
“Then threaten him!”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…”
“Or just beat him until he submits.” Zhou Yunqiu feigned a fierce look as he poked Jiang Huaiyan’s chest, hitting a very… precise spot.
Jiang Huaiyan quickly grabbed those restless fingers, his Adam’s apple bobbing. “Why do you hate him so much?”
“I just don’t like him.” Zhou Yunqiu huffed, intentionally leaning into Jiang Huaiyan’s embrace, his red lips lightly brushing against Jiang Huaiyan’s chest.
When he thought his brother was an Alpha, he felt his brother should find a gentle, obedient Omega. Now that he knew his brother was an Omega, he felt no Alpha in the world was worthy of him.
He was just that double-standard!
Jiang Huaiyan felt the touch of those lips; his whole body felt like it had been hit by an electric current, and his blood surged backward.
“Just now, he tried to take advantage of my brother. I hit him and split his head open.”
Jiang Huaiyan’s brows furrowed tightly, though he was in no state of mind to be shocked by the news.
“When he comes to settle the score with me, you’ll help me, right?” Zhou Yunqiu gave a light, playful nip. “He was the one who told me you were at this hospital. That ‘good friend’ of yours betrayed you.”
Jiang Huaiyan suddenly pulled Zhou Yunqiu’s head closer, his breathing becoming uncontrollably rapid.
Zhou Yunqiu broke free from his grip, his arms winding around Jiang Huaiyan’s neck like boneless vines. He laughed and blew a breath of hot air into his ear. “Shouldn’t you teach him a lesson?”
The breath caused Jiang Huaiyan’s soul to drift away. “I should… I should definitely teach him a lesson!”
“Tell him to stay away from my brother.”
“Alright, I’ll listen to everything you say.” Jiang Huaiyan anxiously leaned in, searching for Zhou Yunqiu’s lips to kiss him.
Satisfied, Zhou Yunqiu dodged away and looked toward the Omega doctor, who was still standing aside enjoying the gossip. “I’m so sorry for making the doctor witness such a scene.”
The doctor looked at his “skin-deep” smile and suddenly understood why this Omega was being so blatant he was marking his territory.
This Alpha belonged to him!
Anyone who coveted him would meet a miserable end.
And looking at how that “pillow talk” had blown—it had blown Jiang Huaiyan right off his feet.
“Doctor Chen, please step out for a moment. I’ll call you when the IV is finished.” Hearing Zhou Yunqiu’s words, Jiang Huaiyan finally snapped back to reality and realized the doctor was still there, quickly ushering them out.
“Be careful, it’s best if you don’t get agitated right now,” the doctor cautioned before making a hasty exit.
Once only Jiang Huaiyan and Zhou Yunqiu were left in the room, Jiang Huaiyan immediately pulled Zhou Yunqiu close, wanting to kiss him.
Zhou Yunqiu turned his face away, refusing the kiss, and said huffily, “Explain!”
“Explain what?”
“Explain why the scent of an Omega doctor’s pheromones is on you.” Zhou Yunqiu pushed his face away without ceremony. “If you don’t explain clearly, you’re finished.”
“It was for the treatment.” He had wanted to see if he could still be affected by Omega pheromones. The result: he wasn’t.
This time, he had been thoroughly screwed over by Duan Mingxu; he really had become a Beta.
“What kind of treatment requires Omega pheromones? You’re not even an Alpha.”
“What if I said I was?”
Zhou Yunqiu’s eyes narrowed slightly as he pulled aside the collar at the back of Jiang Huaiyan’s neck to look.
There was only a medicated patch there.
It didn’t look like a pheromone blocker; rather, it looked like a medicinal treatment.
He frowned and leaned in to sniff—there wasn’t a trace of Alpha pheromones.
“Stop fooling me.” Zhou Yunqiu didn’t believe it for a second.
Over the past two years, Jiang Huaiyan had stayed with him through almost every heat cycle. Jiang Huaiyan had never once been affected by his pheromones, nor had he ever seen Jiang Huaiyan in a rut, or even smelled the scent of his Alpha pheromones.
How could he possibly be an Alpha?
However…
Zhou Yunqiu suddenly looked at Jiang Huaiyan with eyes full of anticipation. “In the future, I might actually have a way to make you an Alpha. Would you become an Alpha for me?”
“I would.” If he couldn’t recover on his own, he would listen to Zhou Yunqing and undergo the genetic experiments.
To be with Zhou Yunqiu, he had to return to being an Alpha.
“Jiang Huaiyan, you’re so good.” Touched, Zhou Yunqiu hugged him and continued to ask, “So why are you getting an injection here? Why didn’t you tell me if you weren’t feeling well?”
“It’s just a minor illness, don’t worry. I’ll be fine soon.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
Zhou Yunqiu still looked unconvinced.
Jiang Huaiyan decided it was better not to let him know about his current condition yet, lest he have too many expectations; he himself didn’t know if he could recover.
He made up a random excuse to brush Zhou Yunqiu off.
Zhou Yunqiu didn’t dwell on it too much. No matter what Jiang Huaiyan said, he believed him.
Clinging to Jiang Huaiyan’s embrace, he said, “I’ll stay here with you.”
Jiang Huaiyan licked his lips. “Little Master, I’m sick—isn’t there a reward?”
“The doctor just said you shouldn’t get agitated.”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…”
For the sake of a quick recovery, he could only suppress the desires in his heart, listen to the doctor, and obediently finish the IV drip.
Half an hour later, Jiang Huaiyan took Zhou Yunqiu’s hand and went to the hospital parking lot.
Just as the two of them got into the car, they were blocked by someone.
Zhou Yunqiu’s eyes shrank when he recognized the person.
It was Xiao Yi’s father.
Why was he here? And looking so disheveled.
Before he could react, Father Xiao had already reached his side of the car, frantically tapping on the window.
Zhou Yunqiu instinctively wanted to push the door open to ask what was happening, but Jiang Huaiyan swiftly locked the doors.
Zhou Yunqiu looked at him in confusion. “What is the meaning of this?”
“Stay in the car; I’ll go down and check.” Jiang Huaiyan didn’t want Zhou Yunqiu to know about the matters regarding Xiao Yi.
“He’s looking for me.” Zhou Yunqiu had already guessed this might be related to Xiao Yi.
Earlier, when his brother planned to settle accounts with Xiao Yi, they found that Xiao Yi had already vanished, and the Xiao Group was in turmoil, seemingly suffering from someone’s deliberate retaliation.
Jiang Huaiyan hesitated; he didn’t want Zhou Yunqiu to see his ruthless side.
Zhou Yunqiu looked at him seriously. “I want to know.”
Seeing the look in his eyes, Jiang Huaiyan knew he couldn’t refuse and agreed.
When Father Xiao saw Zhou Yunqiu step out of the car, he was so emotional that old tears began to flow. “Qiuqiu, for the sake of me treating you like my own godson since you were little, please ask Jiang Huaiyan to let Xiao Yi go. I’m begging you. He’s my only son!”
Zhou Yunqiu frowned and looked at Jiang Huaiyan.
Jiang Huaiyan pulled Zhou Yunqiu behind him to protect him. “If there’s anything to say, just say it to me.”
“If I talk to you, will you let my son go?”
“He was looking for death.” To dare scheme against his Qiuqiu.
“Then he has already been punished. He is an Omega; how could he be sent to a place like that?”
“When he was hurting Qiuqiu, why didn’t he think about that?” Jiang Huaiyan sneered.
Father Xiao stopped arguing with Jiang Huaiyan and looked at Zhou Yunqiu with a face full of pain. “Qiuqiu, Xiao Yi did wrong in that matter, and I apologize to you on his behalf. But he has suffered enough punishment. Please, just let him go, alright?”
“What did you do to him?” Zhou Yunqiu asked Jiang Huaiyan.
“He threw Xiao Yi into the Black Market.”
Zhou Yunqiu’s heart skipped a beat. Shocked, he gripped Jiang Huaiyan’s hand. “You…”
“I will never let anyone go who harms you.” A trace of ruthlessness flickered in Jiang Huaiyan’s eyes.
“Qiuqiu, I beg you, please let Xiao Yi go.” As he spoke, Father Xiao prepared to kneel before Zhou Yunqiu.
Zhou Yunqiu hurriedly stepped forward to support Father Xiao, preventing him from kneeling.
Suddenly, Father Xiao pulled out a knife and, with a swift movement, held it against Zhou Yunqiu’s neck.
