- Which Fierce Alpha Disguises as a Beta to Abduct a Wife?
- Chapter 5 - He Intends to Claim Jiang Huaiyan
“A chance encounter is a blessing from fate. Little Master Zhou, might I have the honor of joining you both?” Duan Mingxu asked with a wicked, playful smile.
“No.” Zhou Yunqiu refused instantly without a second thought. He didn’t care that Duan Mingxu was the owner of The Summit; he wasn’t about to give him any face.
However, Duan Mingxu ignored him and sat down directly next to Jiang Huaiyan. Zhou Yunqiu was so incensed he nearly crushed the glass in his hand.
“Don’t be so cold. We’re all friends here,” Duan Mingxu said with familiar ease, waving over a waiter to order food.
Zhou Yunqiu’s eyes glared at him intensely. “Who is friends with you? Is he friends with you?” He gestured toward Jiang Huaiyan with a slight tilt of his chin.
“That’s right, we’re old acquaintances,” Duan Mingxu said, unceremoniously draping an arm over Jiang Huaiyan’s shoulder.
Jiang Huaiyan’s face darkened as he slapped the hand away, giving his friend a sharp, warning look.
Zhou Yunqiu took in their every movement. His anger was so great that his delicate features twisted slightly. He gripped his glass tightly, doing his absolute best to restrain his fury. “How do you two know each other?”
Over the past two years, Jiang Huaiyan had been by his side constantly—he hadn’t even taken a day off during the Lunar New Year. The sudden appearance of an Alpha who was so close to Jiang Huaiyan made Zhou extremely displeased.
Furthermore, this person had left his pheromones on Jiang Huaiyan! Such an act was usually a way of declaring sovereignty.
“Little Master Zhou, surely you realize how conspicuous you are, carrying this bodyguard around with you every day? Everyone knows by now that the bodyguard by the Zhou family’s young master is a rare beauty. Even though he’s… a ‘Beta,’ with that face and physique, he’d be hard to find even among S-Class Alphas.”
Duan Mingxu continued, “He’s quite the catch. Many people have been asking me if your bodyguard is single.”
At this, Zhou Yunqiu could no longer hold back. He crushed the glass in his hand with his bare palm.
Clang! The glass shattered into fragments. Some shards even lightly cut his fingers.
Jiang Huaiyan bolted upright, checking Zhou Yunqiu’s hand. “Your hand is injured.”
Zhou Yunqiu initially wanted to say it was nothing. He wasn’t fragile; compared to the injuries he had suffered in the past, this was trivial. But seeing Duan Mingxu’s gaze, he couldn’t resist the urge to provoke him. He reached out his hand toward Jiang Huaiyan with a pitiful expression. “It hurts.”
“I’ll take you to the hospital.” Jiang Huaiyan moved to pull him up.
“No need. Just find me some medicine to disinfect it. There’s a spare first-aid kit in the car.”
Jiang Huaiyan shot a dangerous look at Duan Mingxu before rushing out to retrieve the kit.
With Jiang Huaiyan gone, Zhou Yunqiu’s face immediately went cold. He glared at Duan Mingxu. “What do you mean by this? Do you like him?”
Duan Mingxu couldn’t quite follow Zhou Yunqiu’s train of thought. He had only acted so intimately with Jiang Huaiyan to make Zhou Yunqiu feel some urgency regarding the bodyguard. Otherwise, who knew how much longer these two would keep going in circles?
“He is certainly exceptional, but he is mine. Don’t even think about making a move on him.” Before Duan Mingxu could answer, Zhou Yunqiu declared his ownership. “No one is allowed.”
Duan Mingxu laughed. “But you’re just his employer.”
“So what? If I say he’s mine, he’s mine.”
Duan Mingxu: “…” As expected of the little master famous for being unreasonable.
“Then you’d better keep a close eye on him. With that face and body, many people are… hungry for him.” Duan Mingxu deliberately licked his lips. Before Zhou Yunqiu could grab another glass to throw at him, he made a quick escape.
When Jiang Huaiyan returned with the first-aid kit, he saw Zhou Yunqiu’s face pale with anger. Suppressing the questions in his heart, he moved to clean the wound on the boy’s hand.
“Don’t bother. Let’s go home.” Zhou Yunqiu was too angry to eat; he had lost his appetite completely.
“We haven’t eaten yet—”
“I have no appetite.”
Back in the car, Zhou Yunqiu stared at Jiang Huaiyan as he drove. Even without seeing his face, that silhouette was enough for anyone to guess how handsome he was. He still remembered how stunned he had been the first time he saw Jiang Huaiyan.
He was the best-looking person Zhou had ever met. 192cm tall, 75kg—a classic clothes horse. He looked lean in clothes but was well-built underneath; his muscles weren’t bulky, but they were perfectly toned and full of power. Every step he took radiated hormones.
If even Zhou coveted him, others certainly would too. But since Jiang was his bodyguard, Zhou had the ultimate advantage.
He huffed a cold snort and called out, “Jiang Huaiyan, do you actually prefer Omegas, Alphas, or Betas?”
Jiang Huaiyan didn’t answer.
“I’m talking to you.” Having spent so much time together, Zhou Yunqiu had figured out his temperament. He directly cited their agreement: “Contract Article 8: The employee must answer all of the employer’s questions.”
“Omegas,” Jiang Huaiyan answered.
A surge of uncontrollable joy rose in Zhou Yunqiu’s heart. His voice even shook slightly as he asked, “Then… do you have an Omega you like yet?”
“No.”
“You will soon.” I’m going to claim you for myself! Zhou Yunqiu thought.
He recalled the glimpse he caught of Jiang Huaiyan’s body that morning. He looked very… capable. He just needed to find an opportunity to test it out. If he really was functional, he definitely couldn’t let him go! Rather than letting someone else benefit, he might as well take the prize for himself.
“From now on, you aren’t allowed to see Duan Mingxu, and you’re certainly not allowed to go to The Summit.” He now seriously suspected that Duan Mingxu had designs on Jiang Huaiyan as well.
“Understood.”
After that encounter with Duan Mingxu, Zhou Yunqiu stayed away from The Summit for a while. No matter how much his friends called or what temptations they used, he refused to go. He stayed home obediently, preparing for his exams.
He was about to graduate, but he planned to continue his studies. Once he finished his advanced degree, he intended to work in his brother’s research lab.
As he studied in the villa, Jiang Huaiyan remained with him, ready at a moment’s notice—and serving as a target for Zhou’s occasional teasing when he got bored.
After a week of this, Jiang Huaiyan was starting to reach his limit. Because Zhou Yunqiu viewed him as a Beta, the boy often didn’t bother to control his pheromones. That lingering scent of lime made Jiang’s body feel increasingly hot and restless.
Fortunately, Fang Yanting called Zhou Yunqiu and invited him out for a meal. Zhou Yunqiu agreed reluctantly, changed his clothes, and headed out.
Arriving at the destination, he looked at Jiang Huaiyan. “Find a place to eat and then wait for me downstairs. You are not allowed to leave.”
“Understood.” Even if Zhou hadn’t said it, Jiang would have waited. It was his job.
Once the boy got out of the car, Jiang Huaiyan irritably pulled out a cigarette and lit it. The taste of nicotine slightly suppressed the restless heat in his body. But how much longer could he restrain the demon he had been suppressing for so long?
In the Restaurant Upstairs.
Fang Yanting had already arrived. He wore a white suit, his hair styled immaculately; he radiated the gentle, refined air of a spring breeze.
“Qiuqiu, I’m sorry about last time. Something came up at the last minute and I couldn’t accompany you.” Fang Yanting pulled out an elegantly wrapped box. “This is a gift for you.”
“Why are you giving me a gift out of the blue?” Zhou Yunqiu took it and opened it. It was a watch with a very unique design—a rare model.
But Zhou knew that Fang Yanting had also given one to the Omega he kept on the side. A childhood friend of his had happened to see it and told him.
He closed the box and looked at Fang Yanting with a smile. “Did you do something to feel guilty about?”
A flash of awkwardness crossed Fang Yanting’s face. “No, what would I have to feel guilty about? That thing last time was just a misunderstanding.”
“But I took it seriously, and it made me quite upset.” Zhou Yunqiu tapped the watch box. “A single watch isn’t enough to mend my wounded soul.”
“What do you want me to do?” Fang Yanting asked, his smile not quite reaching his eyes.
