- Which Fierce Alpha Disguises as a Beta to Abduct a Wife?
- Chapter 25 - Zhou! Yun! Qiu! See If I Don't Beat You to Death When I Get Back!
Was this Zhou Yunqiu really an Omega?
He was as bold as some shameless Alpha, flirting with a “decent” Omega every single day.
Before Jiang Huaiyan could respond, Zhou Yunqiu directly initiated a video call. Jiang Huaiyan tried to turn off the camera and accept it as an audio call only, but the moment the connection was made, Zhou Yunqiu hung up. The second call that came through was another video request.
Jiang Huaiyan: “…”
He helplessly tapped to accept, and Zhou Yunqiu’s beautiful face appeared on the screen.
“Oh? Still fully dressed, I see. What about your trousers? Let me see if things have gotten… messy.”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…”
“Not seductive enough?”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…”
“Then how about this?” Zhou Yunqiu aimed the camera at his own collarbone, gently pulling down one side of his collar. He gazed into the lens with eyes like silk. “How do you like this ‘now you see it, now you don’t’ look?”
Jiang Huaiyan immediately slammed his phone face-down, covering both the camera and the screen. He took several deep breaths. Zhou Yunqiu was a total succubus, capable of sucking the very life out of him at any moment.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Zhou Yunqiu’s indignant voice came from the phone.
Jiang Huaiyan picked the phone up again, his voice steady. “Little Young Master, it’s late. You should get some rest. I have to go with the Eldest Young Master to discuss a partnership tomorrow.”
“You haven’t even complimented me yet! How can I sleep? Can you even sleep without me?”
“I forgot, you’re a heartless one. You can probably sleep just fine without me.”
Zhou Yunqiu gave a small, aggrieved sniffle. “But I miss you. Neither of you is home, and I’m all alone. I’m scared.”
“…Are you really scared?”
Zhou Yunqiu nodded. “It’s so lonely.”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…”
“Sing me a song. I won’t be scared after I hear you sing.”
Looking at that face, Jiang Huaiyan found it impossible to say no. “What song do you want to hear?”
“The classic oldie, Stealing My Heart.”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…”
“Do you know it? If not, I can sing it for you.”
“Who was it that secretly stole my heart, making me unable to tell night from dawn…” Zhou Yunqiu had already started wailing.
The corners of Jiang Huaiyan’s mouth twitched as he listened; he wanted to laugh but didn’t dare. He finally knew which window God had closed for Zhou Yunqiu: the window of music. Out of nine words, six were off-key.
“Are you even listening to me sing?” Zhou Yunqiu snapped.
“I am.”
“Does it sound good?”
“It sounds good.” The more he listened, the cuter it became.
Zhou Yunqiu gave a proud huff. “I knew I sang well. Those people who say I’m tone-deaf just don’t know how to appreciate art.”
Jiang Huaiyan tried his absolute best to hold back his laughter. After a bit more fussing, Zhou Yunqiu finally hung up the call, satisfied.
Looking at the silent phone, Jiang Huaiyan suddenly fell into a state of longing. He missed Zhou Yunqiu. Did he go to sleep after hanging up? Or was he lying in bed thinking of him? He probably was; he looked so much like he truly liked him.
Jiang Huaiyan fell into another internal struggle. How much of Zhou Yunqiu’s affection for him was real, and how much was fake? How much was love for his body, and how much was for his heart?
Before he could figure it out, his phone rang again. Instinctively thinking it was Zhou Yunqiu, he answered quickly, only to hear Duan Mingxu’s voice.
“What are you doing? I sent you messages and you didn’t reply.”
Jiang Huaiyan blinked, realizing he hadn’t noticed any messages from him. “I was on a call.”
“Having a long ‘phone porridge’ session with your Little Young Master?”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…”
“You haven’t actually fallen in love, have you?”
“…No.”
“It doesn’t matter even if you have. The results are in. You aren’t brothers; there’s no blood relation. Feel free to love boldly!” Duan Mingxu burst into laughter.
Jiang Huaiyan’s hand tightened around the phone, and his voice held an unmistakable excitement. “Really?”
“Would I lie to you about something like this?”
Jiang Huaiyan’s mind raced with excitement. They weren’t brothers. There was no blood relation!
“Don’t get excited just yet. Zhou Yunqing is indeed planning to test you,” Duan Mingxu continued seriously. “If nothing goes wrong, it’ll be within the next two days. I’ve arranged the people, but he might not follow the plan exactly. You’ll have to rely on your improvisation when the time comes.”
“Understood. How many people did he arrange?”
“Fifteen. Every single one is an S-class Alpha.”
“Send me their files.”
“I already sent them. You just never replied. Does that Little Young Master really attract you that much?”
“…Hanging up now.”
“Hey, hey! Your avoidance is way too obvious!”
Jiang Huaiyan ignored him and insisted on hanging up. He didn’t go to sleep until he had finished reviewing the files of those men.
The following evening.
Jiang Huaiyan and Zhou Yunqing attended a banquet. Wearing a perfectly tailored suit, Zhou Yunqing moved through the event, engaging in various conversations with businessmen. Jiang Huaiyan stood at a distance, carefully observing every corner, ready to respond to any sudden danger.
During the second half of the banquet, his phone suddenly rang. It was Zhou Yunqiu. He didn’t answer; now was not the time for personal calls. But Zhou Yunqiu kept calling.
Worried that something was wrong, he turned his back to Zhou Yunqing and answered. “What is it?”
“Check your messages,” Zhou Yunqiu said before hanging up.
Jiang Huaiyan suspiciously opened the message, only to see a photo Zhou Yunqiu had sent—a photo of his own buttocks!
He cursed inwardly, his fingers trembling as he held the phone. Suddenly, someone bumped into him from behind. The phone slipped from his shaking hands and fell to the floor. He scrambled to pick it up.
“Give it to me,” said Zhou Yunqing’s voice.
Jiang Huaiyan held the phone and didn’t hand it over.
“I don’t want to say it a second time!” Zhou Yunqing said with a cold face, reaching out his hand.
Left with no choice, Jiang Huaiyan had to surrender the phone. Zhou Yunqing opened it and saw the photo his younger brother had sent to the bodyguard. The veins on his forehead throbbed.
“The Little Young Master… he’s just… being playful,” Jiang Huaiyan managed.
“Playful?” Zhou Yunqing laughed out of pure anger. He wanted to scroll up through their chat history. After flipping back one page, he felt that prying into someone else’s privacy was improper, so he simply deleted the photo. Then, he used Jiang Huaiyan’s phone to call his brother back.
Zhou Yunqiu’s sweet voice entered his ear: “Do you like it? I have even more seductive ones, you know.”
“Zhou! Yun! Qiu!” Every word from Zhou Yunqing was laden with surging fury. “See if I don’t beat you to death when I get back!”
“Brother? Brotheeeer~” Zhou Yunqiu’s voice was shaking.
“Just you wait!” Zhou Yunqing hung up the phone and looked at Jiang Huaiyan. “If you want to resign, I’ll agree to it.”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…” He didn’t want to resign, but he was too embarrassed to say so.
“Go wait outside. I’ll be finished here soon.”
“Yes, sir.”
Jiang Huaiyan turned and went out into the garden to clear his head in the night breeze. The wind was cool, but it couldn’t blow away the gloom in his heart. He took out his phone and looked at the empty space where the photo should have been, feeling a sense of regret. Such a beautiful photo, and he hadn’t even saved it yet.
Just as he was lamenting his loss, he received a text. He opened it; it was from Zhou Yunqiu: “Is my brother still with you?”
“No.”
Zhou Yunqiu sent a “ready to cry” emoji.
“I was at work just now,” Jiang Huaiyan explained regarding being caught.
“Did my brother delete the photo? Do you want me to send you another one?”
