Which Fierce Alpha Disguises as a Beta to Abduct a Wife? - Chapter 18
In the photo, Jiang Huaiyan was wearing a black shirt and black trousers. He stood casually by the window with one hand in his pocket, looking out at the scenery.
However, the sky outside was already bright. This meant the photo had been taken just moments ago.
He really had stayed with Xiao Yi all night.
Zhou Yunqiu’s heart instantly constricted with pain. Why? He stayed with him all night and wouldn’t even answer my calls—what were they doing?
The rage that Zhou Yunqiu had suppressed all night began to burn fiercely once more. But this time, he didn’t let himself remain consumed by anger. After pondering all night without understanding, he decided it was better to just ask.
He sent the photo directly to Jiang Huaiyan with a question: “You stayed with Xiao Yi all night—did you sleep with him?”
Jiang Huaiyan’s reply came quickly: “No.”
Hearing this answer, Zhou Yunqiu breathed a small sigh of relief. He believed him. As for why he trusted him so implicitly, he didn’t know, but he simply chose to believe.
“Are you coming over today?” Zhou Yunqiu asked.
This time, Jiang Huaiyan didn’t reply instantly, and Zhou Yunqiu’s temper began to flare up again. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. He froze for a moment, then immediately got up to open it.
Jiang Huaiyan stood at the entrance, still wearing the same clothes from the night before—the black shirt and trousers. He looked clean, with no lingering scents that shouldn’t be there. He handed over the breakfast he had brought. “Eat before you go back to sleep.”
Zhou Yunqiu: “…How did you know I didn’t sleep all night?”
“Dark circles.”
“It’s all your fault.” Zhou Yunqiu felt a bit aggrieved and also a little surprised; he had actually lost a night of sleep over Jiang Huaiyan. That had never happened before.
“I’m sorry. Xiao Yi threatened me, demanding I take him to the hospital and ignore your calls in the meantime. But I didn’t stay alone with him; I hired a caregiver to stay in the hospital room with us,” Jiang Huaiyan explained.
Zhou Yunqiu raised an eyebrow. “He can actually threaten you?”
“He has leverage over me.”
“What leverage?”
“That is my private business.”
Zhou Yunqiu gave him an annoyed glare. “You are my bodyguard. How can I not know something that outsiders clearly do? Do you even want to keep this job?”
“I do.”
“Then tell me.” Zhou Yunqiu didn’t want this to happen again.
He had already guessed Xiao Yi’s intentions behind the messages. The information sent last night was meant to make him witness Jiang Huaiyan carrying him away. The photo this morning was meant to sow seeds of doubt, driving a wedge between them. If he had even a shred less trust in Jiang Huaiyan, Xiao Yi’s scheme would have succeeded. Last night, he truly had considered asking his brother to fire him.
“Young Master, although I am your bodyguard, I have the right to my privacy.”
Clack! Zhou Yunqiu slammed his chopsticks onto the table, his eyes icy. “You want to let him continue using these methods to hurt me? If he failed this time, there will be a next time!”
“Jiang Huaiyan, when I watched you carry him away, I was very sad.”
“That kind of sadness is something I’ve never experienced before, and I never want to feel it again.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I don’t need your apology; it serves no purpose. The harm has already been done, but I am choosing to believe you this time.”
Zhou Yunqiu didn’t know why, but as he spoke those words, he felt like he wanted to cry. Did I care about Jiang Huaiyan this much already?
Looking at his reddened eyes, Jiang Huaiyan felt as though his own heart was being squeezed. He stated solemnly, “He won’t use that method to threaten me again.”
“You trust him that much?”
“I trust myself.”
Knowing he wouldn’t get the secret of the leverage out of him, Zhou Yunqiu lowered his head and resumed eating breakfast. Once finished, drowsiness began to set in. His nerves had been taut all night because of Jiang Huaiyan, but now that the explanation was clear, the tension eased, and exhaustion hit him immediately.
However, Jiang Huaiyan wouldn’t let him sleep right after eating.
“Get up and walk around for a bit first.” Jiang Huaiyan reached out to pull him up.
Zhou Yunqiu took the opportunity to lean into Jiang Huaiyan’s arms. “I still have a bone to pick with you.”
“What bone?”
“You didn’t answer my calls, and you even hung up on me.” Zhou Yunqiu was very angry; usually, he was the one hanging up on others. No one had ever dared to hang up on him directly.
“There was a reason for that.”
“But I’m angry. You have to coax me.”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…”
“I don’t want to move right now. Carry me and walk around.”
Jiang Huaiyan didn’t move. Zhou Yunqiu gave him a sharp pinch. “You carried Xiao Yi, but you won’t carry me? Am I not as good-looking or as fragrant as him?”
“Am I not as soft as him?”
Left with no choice, Jiang Huaiyan picked him up, letting him lean against his chest while supporting his waist as they paced the living room. Zhou Yunqiu nuzzled comfortably into his embrace. “Is he easier to hold, or am I? Don’t ignore me—you must answer.”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…You.”
“Am I more fragrant, or is he?”
“You.”
“Am I softer, or is he?”
“You.”
Zhou Yunqiu glared at him, dissatisfied. “Perfunctory.”
Jiang Huaiyan: “…” This little ancestor has become even harder to serve than before, yet… he’s actually quite cute.
“Do you really not like Xiao Yi?”
“I don’t. I’ve never had such a thought.”
“Then do you have ‘thoughts’ about me?” After saying this, Zhou Yunqiu suddenly gave him a light bite on the chest through his shirt.
Jiang Huaiyan froze, a surge of heat rushing downward. Zhou Yunqiu smiled cunningly. “No need to answer. I can already feel it.”
“Young Master…” Jiang Huaiyan’s voice was tight as he hurriedly tried to push him away.
Zhou Yunqiu wrapped his arms tighter. “Don’t run. I can help you.”
“I don’t need it!”
“I’m not asking you to take responsibility.” As he spoke, Zhou Yunqiu’s hands already began to wander.
Jiang Huaiyan’s body shook. He forcefully pushed Zhou Yunqiu away, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at him. “Stop messing around. I said I don’t need it.”
“What are you holding back for? This isn’t the first time you’ve had such a strong reaction. Since you want to, I’ll help you. I’m doing this of my own free will; you don’t need to feel any psychological burden.” With a specimen like this, helping him is my own gain.
Jiang Huaiyan’s breathing was heavy, half from anger and half from desire. “I am just your bodyguard. Having a reaction is just a natural physiological phenomenon; it has nothing to do with love or affection.”
Having said his piece, he quickly retreated to the room next door.
Zhou Yunqiu stood frozen on the spot. It has nothing to do with love or affection. So that’s the reason he rejected me? He doesn’t like me. He doesn’t.
Zhou Yunqiu’s beautiful brows knit into a tight knot. He placed a hand gently over his heart. It felt very uncomfortable. This discomfort was also a foreign sensation to him. He hated this feeling and forced himself to calm down.
He went back to his room and lay on the bed, but his sleepiness had vanished without a trace. He felt like going crazy.
It’s all Jiang Huaiyan’s fault! Why did he have to say those things? Does he think saying that will make me stop? Impossible. Even if he doesn’t like me, his body still belongs to me!
The person I’ve set my sights on better not think about running away.
He got up abruptly and headed straight for the door of Jiang Huaiyan’s room.
