- Chapter 27 - Zerg World 27: The Only S-Rank Male
Chu Sicheng lowered his gaze slightly.
Two simple, nonchalant words proved more powerful than the hoarse exhortations and threats from the crowd on the tribunal bench. Alex, who had been in a state of riot and nearly strangled Fero to death, stopped his movements instantly.
The red mist in his green eyes gradually dissipated. Alex blinked in a daze, and when he looked up at Chu Sicheng, he seemed to look a little aggrieved.
Was he blaming him for calling a halt to the fun?
Or was he telling him about the oppression he had just suffered in the tribunal hall?
Chu Sicheng didn’t know, and he didn’t care.
The male, who had watched the entire process from his hospital room, propped his chin on one hand. Under Alex’s steady gaze, he only wanted to ask one question:
“Alex, tell me, what exactly were you trying to do just now?”
What was he trying to do?
Alex froze.
As the anger faded, his brain regained its rational state, allowing him to easily catch the displeasure in Chu Sicheng’s tone.
The other seemed a bit angry now, and he was angry at him.
This discovery made Alex nervous. The answer that had been on the tip of his tongue became hesitant, and only after a long pause did Alex slowly spit it out:
“I wanted to help you vent your anger.”
“Oh?” Chu Sicheng raised an eyebrow. “How were you going to help me vent my anger?”
“By killing them all?”
Before Alex could answer, the male spoke again. His tone was very calm, yet it gave Alex a premonition of a coming storm.
“Right? Alex.”
“You wanted to kill all these Zergs, and among these Zergs, that included you.”
Because you wanted to atone.
You wanted to pay the price for your previous mistakes.
But, Alex.
Chu Sicheng reached out and rolled down the car window. The wind that rushed in instantly blew back his platinum-blonde hair, revealing those blue-grey eyes as deep as a cold pool.
“Did I allow that?”
Did I allow you to commit suicide?
Did I allow you to atone in this manner?
Since it is atonement toward him, the method of punishment should be determined by him.
Similarly, since this tribunal is a game aimed at him, he, the protagonist himself, has to participate in person, doesn’t he?
Tapping his fingertip lightly on the steering wheel, Chu Sicheng took one last look at the pale Alex, then pressed his foot down and slammed the accelerator to the floor.
In the virtual image, the crowd couldn’t see the full background behind Chu Sicheng.
They only knew that the wind on the male’s side seemed to have grown stronger, so much so that he looked as if he were standing at the mouth of a gale, where any casual movement could trigger a storm.
Then.
Crash!
Before the crowd could react, a silver-white hovercar crashed directly into the tribunal hall with a stylish drift. As glass shards clattered to the floor, a thin figure in a white hospital gown opened the door and stepped onto the fragments of glass, appearing before everyone.
The virtual image in mid-air was shut off. Chu Sicheng unclipped the comm-link from his wrist and tossed it into the hovercar. He then looked up at the crowd, who had all been in a daze since his appearance. His brow arched slightly, and his thin lips parted:
“Why so surprised?”
“Isn’t this a meeting to judge me? Isn’t it normal for me to attend?”
Crowd: “…”
Attending the meeting is normal, of course, but the problem is, who attends a meeting by driving a car directly into the tribunal hall?!
Is this really not just a move to wreck the place?
The crowd, who had just survived Alex’s death threat, hadn’t even had time to catch their breath before being hit by the glass shards from Chu Sicheng’s entrance. They felt their lives were cursed to the extreme.
Except for Alex.
The moment Chu Sicheng appeared, he was the first and only Zerg who wanted to rush to the other’s side.
His fingers moved slightly, and then Fero, who was terrified into a puddle of mush, dropped from his loosened grip and hit the ground with a splat.
Pain instantly spread from his tailbone throughout his body, but Fero didn’t even have time to wail. Instead, he scrambled and crawled away from the female Zerg who had nearly killed him just a moment ago.
Crazy!
The villain is truly crazy!
The protagonist gong is even more mentally unstable, actually driving a car straight in?!
Each one is more reckless than the last!
For a time, Fero no longer dared to put on an arrogant expression to force Alex to bow his head. It wasn’t until he crawled behind a row of guards and was protected by the armed female Zergs that his legs regained a bit of strength, and his body stopped shaking like a sieve.
“I told you before,” the skull said in his ear, never missing a chance to enjoy the show, “those villains are all one-track-minded lunatics. If you push them too hard, they’ll do anything.”
Perhaps for those female Zergs who truly placed great importance on males and rank, or for those high-level rulers who needed to be cautious and consider many layers when handling affairs, Fero and Elio’s accusation would have been very advantageous.
They wouldn’t even have to say much; simply revealing their male ranks would be enough to pull those Zergs into their camp.
But Alex was not one of those Zergs.
He didn’t care about gender or rank when doing things, and he didn’t consider that much. Especially after Chu Sicheng arrived, he looked as if he were ready to follow the other’s orders at any moment.
These Zergs wanted to use him as the final pawn to defeat Chu Sicheng, but they didn’t expect the pawn to flip the chess table directly.
“Impossible, impossible…”
Perhaps the fear of facing death hadn’t completely faded. Fero had no time to worry about the mocking skull at this moment, only knowing how to mutter neurotically:
“How could I lose? I won’t lose! I am the prophet who knows the entire plot. This is the Central City of the Imperial Star; it’s impossible for Alex to succeed. He will definitely be defeated by the protagonist! Yes! The protagonist! Where is Friedrich? As long as Friedrich comes, we still have a chance to win.”
Fero scrambled to open his comm-link, wanting to send a message to Friedrich.
However, the second hand on the screen turned round and round, and the message Fero had finally managed to tremble out to Friedrich received no reply.
There wasn’t even a “read” sign on it.
What was going on?
Fero couldn’t understand.
Clearly, in the novel, the protagonist would always appear at the first moment before a critical juncture.
Yet now, half of the Zergs in the Central City were about to be killed by the villain, and there was still no sign of Friedrich.
In his terror, Fero instinctively gripped the comm-link on his wrist. At the same time, his gaze focused on the figure in front of him as if it had an automatic navigation system.
It was him!
It must be Ryan’s doing!
Back at Qing Garden, it was Ryan who had weirdly shouted his real-world name, and later threw him directly into that dark room to suffer.
Then Friedrich, who had gone with him, certainly wouldn’t have had it easy, likely explaining why he hadn’t woken up yet.
Fero, who was used to shifting blame, had already forgotten that it was he himself who had drugged Friedrich. He only wanted to complain about this male who had ruined his plans since the start of the plot.
But he forgot that from the moment Chu Sicheng appeared—or rather, from the moment Alex would rather kill everyone in the tribunal hall than join them in accusing Chu Sicheng—he no longer had the right to be arrogant or to blame others.
With lowered lashes, Chu Sicheng leaned back against the hovercar and glanced at Fero, who was slumped on the ground but didn’t forget to stare at him with a poisonous gaze. The corners of his eyes tilted up slightly.
“I suppose I count as your savior now, right? Is it really appropriate for you to look at me like that?”
“What are you doing here?!”
“Look at what you’re saying,” Chu Sicheng laughed lowly. “What do you think I’m doing here? This is a meeting to judge me.”
The male’s brow arched, and there was even a faint sense of pride in his light tone.
It was as if, in his eyes, this wasn’t a tribunal that would sentence him to death, but some kind of award ceremony.
What Fero hated most was this effortless manner he maintained no matter the time, especially with Alex standing silently by Chu Sicheng’s side.
The two stood before the hole in the wall, wearing the only clean and tidy clothes in the room, bathed in golden sunlight, looking like saviors chosen by heaven.
But was that really the case?
Fero gritted his teeth and stood up with the support of a nearby guard. He then gave a cold sneer toward Chu Sicheng and said:
“Do you think just because Saxon is on your side, you’ve definitely won?”
An SS-rank female is certainly terrifying, but what if they are fighting with the entire military strength of the Imperial Star?
They simply hadn’t been able to react earlier, which was why Alex almost succeeded.
But now.
Fero looked up at the large hole behind Chu Sicheng.
The originally blue sky had turned into a dark mass, but those weren’t dark clouds. They were the military females who had rushed from various armies to help after the tribunal members sent out a distress signal.
They surrounded the tribunal hall so tightly that not even a drop of water could leak through. The guns in their hands, each with a red dot, were aimed directly at the two who were going against everyone else.
There was no third Zerg by their side.
They only had each other.
“Alex…”
Marshal Saxon, back in his seat on the tribunal bench, looked at his son below, who was being pointed at by a thousand fingers along with that F-rank male. His face was full of disappointment.
“Is it really worth it for an F-rank male?”
Originally, he could have steadily married an A-rank male. Although the consolation process might not have been perfect, at the very least, his mental power wouldn’t be torn apart anymore, and his life would be guaranteed.
But the rebellious son refused to listen to his arrangements, insisting on choosing an F-rank male who had no value for consolation or reproduction for the sake of so-called love. He disregarded his own life and the family’s reputation, and now he was even going against the entire Empire for that male.
This son of his was a total failure of a product.
Marshal Saxon sighed deeply and closed his eyes, as if he couldn’t bear to see the image of Alex’s heart being shot through by the military females.
In contrast, Fero was quite willing to see the protagonist and the villain die tragically together.
At this moment, with the backup provided by the surrounding military females, his legs no longer felt weak, and his hands stopped shaking. Like the stupid and wicked cannon fodder in every novel, he said triumphantly to Chu Sicheng:
“See that, Ryan? This is called: until the very end, no one knows who the true winner is!”
The male had rushed over so quickly by car, probably wanting to show off his victory at the first opportunity.
But life is sometimes full of surprises. The male thought he was here to flaunt his power, but in fact, he came to deliver himself to death!
Fero looked at Chu Sicheng below with a look of pure satisfaction.
He no longer cared about the mission or the conquest; he only wanted to see the male die before his eyes.
Fero thought the story had reached its end, but in Chu Sicheng’s view, the good show had only just begun.
Reaching out to restrain Alex, who wanted to control the mecha, Chu Sicheng looked up at Fero.
“You’re right. Until the very end, no one knows who the true winner is.”
“But.”
Chu Sicheng blinked, his eyes flickering and his red lips curving up.
“How do you know that this is the end of the story?”
He tapped his fingertip lightly on the roof of the car.
Under the golden light and the gaze of all the Zergs, the male, whose body was covered in red dots, gently raised his hand and gestured a three to Fero.
Then a two.
Finally, a one.
Bang!
As if yesterday were repeating itself, the tribunal door that had been burst open during the last hearing was pushed open once again.
Similarly, a female Zerg with a panicked face.
Similarly, holding a paper test report in his hand.
And the same shout:
“Re, Report! Officers, the first genetic test report after Lord Ryan’s second evolution is out!”
However, unlike the “F” that had disappointed the crowd last time, the female waved the report in his hand this time and shouted:
“It’s S!”
He said:
“Lord Ryan is now the Empire’s only S-rank male!”
For a moment, the situation in the tribunal hall seemed to have reversed once again.
