The fire in] Mèi Lí’s heart flared up again. He scooped a spoonful of medicine to Chī Jié’s mouth. “Drink the medicine first. We can talk about other things later.”
Chī Jié turned his head away, his eyes fixed on another spot.
It’s already come to this, so what’s the point of taking medicine? I’m going to die anyway. He chose to die without suffering.
He’s hated taking medicine since he was a child.
Mèi Lí’s eyes darkened. He lifted the bowl of medicine, took a sip himself, then pinched Chī Jié’s jaw, forcing him to open his mouth, and transferred the medicine to him.
Chī Jié coughed twice, his eyes wide, filled with confusion.
“Don’t look at me like that. This was just a last resort. I absolutely have no designs on you.”
Chī Jié gave a self-mocking laugh, a hint of sarcasm flashing in his eyes. “Divine Monarch, please rest assured. I know my place and definitely won’t harbor any inappropriate thoughts.”
Mèi Lí felt a pang in his heart. He took another mouthful of medicine, intending to feed it to him by mouth again, but Chī Jié refused. He took the medicine bowl from Mèi Lí’s hand, drank it all in one gulp, and said to Mèi Lí, “No need for Divine Monarch to use his mouth. I’ll drink it myself.”
Mèi Lí swallowed the medicine in his mouth, his expression indifferent.
The medicine was too bitter. Not only was his mouth bitter, but his heart was bitter too.
