What to Do If the White Moonlight Omega Falls in Love with Me - Chapter 31
September 12th arrived, the day of their promised date. The sky was somber and overcast. Since the Autumn Equinox, Jingcheng had been prone to rain, and the gathering dark clouds made Yan Qingran feel a touch of worry.
Most of the amusement park attractions were outdoors. If it really rained, they would have to switch to the shopping mall instead. Although she wasn’t particularly interested in shopping, she recalled that most girls seemed to love buying things.
Yan Qingran arrived at the school fifteen minutes early. She parked her car not far from Cha Yuxuan’s dormitory and waited quietly under a tree with an umbrella. The wind began to pick up, swirling fallen leaves against the pavement before letting them drop. Insects flew out from the shrubbery, hovering in the breeze with nowhere to settle.
There were too many bugs, so she considered moving, but her peripheral vision caught a familiar silhouette—Cha Yuxuan was coming out of the dorm.
Cha Yuxuan had rarefully applied a full face of makeup. She wore a hoodie and long jeans, carrying a small bag containing her suppressants. She let her hair hang down to hide the scent-blocking patch on her neck. Only after her persistent insistence had Yun Qi agreed not to force her to stay in the school infirmary, and promised not to tell Yan Qingran.
Despite her decent constitution, she felt very weak. Her steps were somewhat unsteady, and she lacked energy, feeling nothing but a desperate urge to sleep.
“Good morning.”
Yan Qingran walked up to meet her. As she got closer, she seemed to catch a faint, lingering scent of milky sweetness.
“Good morning, Senior!”
Though Cha Yuxuan gathered her energy to greet her, Yan Qingran sensitively noticed her lack of vigor.
“You…” Yan Qingran paused for a moment, choosing her words carefully. “If you’re feeling unwell, we can reschedule for another time.”
Cha Yuxuan froze for a second, then feigned a cold, covering her mouth to cough a few times. “It’s just a minor cold, but I can still go out with you.”
Yan Qingran pondered. “Then let’s change our plans. Shall we see a movie or visit the snack street and the mall?”
Without hesitation, Cha Yuxuan said, “Let’s see a movie.”
Shopping was far too exhausting. Right now, she just wanted to sit quietly—even lying down would be better. Just chatting or being near the Senior felt like enough.
Yan Qingran opened the car door for her. “Alright.”
Inside the car, both were relatively quiet. Occasionally, Yan Qingran glanced sideways to find Cha Yuxuan looking drowsy and listless. This was clearly more than just a minor cold. During a red light, Yan Qingran canceled the BBQ reservation she had made for lunch and changed it to a lighter beef and mushroom hotpot. There would be other chances to grill meat for her later.
Amidst the gentle swaying of the car, Cha Yuxuan picked up her phone to choose a movie. “There are a few out right now: a family comedy, an animated film, a sci-fi movie, and a spy thriller. Which kind do you like, Senior?”
“Anything except the family comedy is fine with me.”
Cha Yuxuan softly agreed. After checking the cast and synopsis, she settled on a spy thriller featuring two female Alphas.
Yan Qingran parked in the shopping center’s underground garage. She was about to walk toward the exit when she abruptly stopped and turned back toward the elevator. “Let’s take the elevator up.” The cinema was on the seventh floor; even taking the escalators inside the mall would involve a lot of walking. Taking the accessible elevator was better for Cha Yuxuan.
“Okay.”
There were several people at the elevator. The two stood at the back, waiting quietly as the floor numbers on the display slowly climbed, people getting on and off along the way.
Cha Yuxuan had truly underestimated the weakness of the first day of an Omega’s heat. She felt like she could barely stand, and she instinctively leaned against Yan Qingran’s shoulder. While gripping Yan Qingran’s arm, she searched for an excuse. “I forgot to eat breakfast. I’m a bit dizzy.”
Yan Qingran didn’t suspect anything else and didn’t argue. Scolding a sick person would only make them feel worse. “Then let’s get something to eat before heading up for the movie.”
Cha Yuxuan gave a muffled response. Once inside the elevator, she could openly lean her entire body weight against the Senior. However, the air inside made her feel very uncomfortable. She buried her head in Yan Qingran’s shoulder and said in a negotiating tone, “Can you drop me off at the cinema to sit first? I’m so hungry I’m going to faint, I really have no strength.”
She really hadn’t eaten breakfast because she had no appetite and didn’t want to go to the cafeteria.
It sounds like she’s acting coquettish, Yan Qingran thought, dazed. She resisted the urge to pull the girl into a proper embrace and said soothingly, “Alright. I’ll take you up, and then I’ll go buy you some breakfast.”
Cha Yuxuan breathed a sigh of relief, happy to save as much energy as possible. “Thank you.”
During their close contact, Yan Qingran caught the scent of pheromones again that faint, milky sweetness. She couldn’t help but take a few extra sniffs, wondering if a cold caused a person to lose some control over their pheromones. But that was a very private question. For now, Yan Qingran only dared to steal a few sniffs and speculate privately.
When they reached the cinema, there happened to be an empty table. Cha Yuxuan plopped down, the soft cushion catching her. She squinted her eyes with a satisfied expression, reluctant to even get up. Finally, she could rest.
As Yan Qingran left to buy breakfast, Cha Yuxuan reached up to touch her scent-blocking patch. Even through the thin layer, she could feel the faint heat of the gland on her neck. During her heat, she was incredibly sensitive to Alpha pheromones. The scent that clung to Yan Qingran made her want to get closer, awakening her most primal instincts.
Normally, she could resist an average Alpha, but the scent of an S-class Alpha was simply too domineering for her to handle. Fortunately, she had brought suppressants. Cha Yuxuan leaned back in the chair and closed her eyes, her breathing gradually evening out.
A moment later, Yan Qingran returned with a bowl of wontons and hot milk. She placed them on the table, went to get the tickets, and waited until the time was right to wake her. Cha Yuxuan was still groggy when she woke up. Feeling as though she had slept for ages, she said in dismay, “Did I miss the movie?”
Yan Qingran shook her head and pushed the wontons toward her. “No. It doesn’t start for another half hour. You can take your time eating.”
“Okay.”
Cha Yuxuan opened the container and stirred the wontons with a small spoon. She took small bites and occasional sips of the hot milk. Yan Qingran watched her silently, neither speaking nor playing with her phone, nor looking anywhere else. This made Cha Yuxuan feel a bit shy.
She looked up at Yan Qingran, then scooped up a wonton and held it to her lips. “Want to eat together, Senior?”
“Uh… this…”
Yan Qingran was caught off guard again. But thinking that a refusal might make the girl sad, she bit the spoon and swallowed the wonton whole.
Cha Yuxuan stared at her mouth. “Is it good?”
Yan Qingran instinctively licked a drop of broth from her lip and nodded. “It’s good.”
Cha Yuxuan shook her head and accused her, “Liar. You ate it so fast, there’s no way you could taste it.”
Yan Qingran didn’t know how to respond and lowered her head like a scolded child.
Cha Yuxuan, however, wasn’t done. She scooped another one and held it to her lips, saying softly, “I’ll give you one more chance. Taste it properly.”
Yan Qingran felt like this was a calculated move, but having been drawn in, she had to eat the second bite. The rest of the small bowl was eventually finished by Yan Qingran through various “tricks” by Cha Yuxuan.
Faced with the empty container, Yan Qingran fell into contemplation. Cha Yuxuan, meanwhile, looked satisfied. She took a sip of milk and said with a giggle, “Hee-hee. I just knew I couldn’t finish it and didn’t want to waste it, that’s all. It didn’t mean anything else!”
Even if the intention was good, Yan Qingran felt she had been played. Still, she didn’t mind the wontons. It was just that the act of being fed felt a bit too intimate.
Having eaten breakfast, Cha Yuxuan felt a bit more energetic. She picked up the tickets. “Let’s go. Time for the movie.”
Yan Qingran quickly cleared the table, threw the trash away, and followed with the bags. Inside the theater, the advertisements hadn’t even started. It was pitch black except for the faint light on the stairs. The darkness swallowed her vision, and Cha Yuxuan stepped back suddenly, accidentally treading on Yan Qingran’s foot. She stood aside quickly. “Sorry.”
“It’s fine. Follow me.”
Yan Qingran turned on her phone’s flashlight and took the girl’s wrist to lead her inside. They found their seats in the eighth row on the side. A boy was already sitting next to their seats, so Yan Qingran sat directly between him and Cha Yuxuan, separating them.
Cha Yuxuan held the warm cup of milk in her hands. After the ads, the movie began. Although the sound and visuals were great, she still lacked energy. After finishing her milk, she grew drowsy. Seeing that Yan Qingran was focused on the film, she let go of her worries and fell asleep.
As soon as she closed her eyes, Yan Qingran looked over at her. While watching the movie, she used her peripheral vision to keep an eye on her. The movie was one Cha Yuxuan had chosen, one female lead was cool and suave, while the other was incredibly charismatic. Yan Qingran pondered how she might improve herself.
Maybe wear cooler clothes? Change my hairstyle? Change the way I do things?
She decided to try them all, then settled back to watch the movie. During the climax of the plot, Yan Qingran was fully focused. She didn’t notice Cha Yuxuan’s furrowed brows in her sleep or the sweat breaking out on her forehead.
It wasn’t until she smelled the milky-sweet pheromones that she realized something was wrong. she leaned in close and called out softly to wake her. But as she neared Cha Yuxuan’s neck, the scent was so intense it was abnormal. A realization struck her like an alarm this was, a heat?
Cha Yuxuan instinctively reached for her gland as she woke, but seeing Yan Qingran, she lowered her hand. Ignoring her discomfort, she forced a smile. “I think I fell asleep.”
Yan Qingran took a deep breath. “Did you bring suppressants?”
Cha Yuxuan was stunned for a moment. She bit her lip and nodded. “It’s fine. I can wait until the movie is over.”
Yan Qingran suddenly felt a surge of anger. Coming out during a heat, insisting she was fine while clearly suffering, why couldn’t this girl think more about herself?
